I'm on my first rewatch of the series, I've just finished season 4 and I just can't help but think that Face Off would be a great series finale. All the plot threads are tied up nicely: Gus and cartel are dead, the entire family is safe, Walt is free to leave the business, Jesse has a girlfriend and her son is ok, Mike is presumably recovering. The only thing left would be that lily of the valley extract, but I feel like that could be left ambiguous.
I realize that Breaking Bad having a happy ending may seem weird, especially when we know how it ultimately ends. Was that intentional? Was season 5 originally planned or was it an afterthought?
