I posted a few months back that Chuck’s last scene in the Season 3 finale is an homage to “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” which was directed by John Ford, whose film “The Searchers” inspired the series finale of Breaking Bad.
Interestingly, in S4E8 Pastor Blaise Hansford’s description of Huell’s heroics coincides with Pompey’s “rescue” of Tom Doniphon (John Wayne) in “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” after Doniphon intentionally smashes a lantern to ignite a fire in his house. Here’s a short clip of these 2 scenes.
