Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2 will be airing in a few hours today (Sunday, April 28th). Here is an FAQ to clear up confusion for those interested.

Hello /r/television! Moderator of /r/ShingekiNoKyojin here! Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2 is just a few hours away! We've been getting a lot of questions about Season 3 over the past few days. There's quite a bit of confusion and misinformation being thrown around, so we decided to create an FAQ for everything that we know so far (updated as of April 28th, 2019). We know this subreddit doesn't usually care for anime, but we thought there may be some fans here who might appreciate this. Hope this helps clear things up! Feel free to share this FAQ with others who are having confusion, and request any information you wish to be added to this. Enjoy, and watch out for spoilers!

Season 3 Part 2 Trailer - Higher Quality (No Subs)

Season 3 Part 2 Key Visual.

What is Attack on Titan? A post-apocalyptic steampunk action manga/anime. The premise is that humanity is trapped within a series of massive Walls, surrounded by hordes of giand mindless zombies called Titans. The story is humans fighting back against the Titans and slowly uncovering the truth of the world they live in. It is one of the most popular manga/anime of the past decade, with the manga beginning serialization in 2009 and the anime premiering a 25-episode Season 1 in 2013. Season 2 was 12 episodes and came out in 2017. Season 3 Part 1 was 12 episodes and came out last year (2018). Here's a Viewing Order Guide for the anime.

Why should I care? You don't have to! This is mainly for anyone interested who might not have been aware that more episodes were coming. If it helps even just one person, then I'll be glad. If you've never heard of this before or are interested in starting, then you're more than welcome to do so! If you don't like it or aren't interested, then that's fine too.

When is the new episode coming out?

Today, in just a few hours!

April 29th at 12:10 AM Japan Time Zone for the Japanese original version.

COUNTDOWN TO JAPANESE BROADCAST.

Funimation will have it with English subtitles by 1:35 PM EST on April 28th (2 and a half hours after the Japanese release ).

Crunchyroll will also have it with English Subtitles (by 1:40 PM EST).

It will also be simulcast on Hulu but the time is not listed.

COUNTDOWN TO FIRST ENGLISH SUBTITLES BROADCAST.

Please use a time zone converter and check with your local distributor.

What about English dubs?

Funimation will be posting English Dubbed versions weekly starting on May 26th, and dubbed episodes will also air on Toonami starting May 25th.

Where can I watch it?

The AoT Wiki made a great list of legal streaming services that will have it.

This covers most regions, but it is a nonexhaustive list, so check with your local anime streaming site to see if it is available.

It will also be available through “unofficial websites”, which I will not link or name here. Google is your friend.

How long will it be?

Season 3 Part 2 will be 10 episodes long. This in addition to the previous 12 episodes that aired last year will mean that Season 3 as a whole is 22 episodes.

Will it be faithful to the source material?

Based on what we see in the trailer and from certain interviews, it seems like the anime will indeed be faithful to the manga, with small changes at most.

What will the release schedule be like?

The episodes will come out one at a time, week by week.

Will it be on Netflix?

There is no news yet for a release on Netflix.

I don't remember the story so far, is there a summary?

Here is a summary of Season 1.

Here is a summary of Season 1 + Season 2.

I want to read the manga, where do I start?

Season 1 went up to Chapter 33. Season 2 went up to Chapter 50. Season 3 Part 1 went up to Chapter 72. So you can start reading from Chapter 73. Season 1 and Season 2 do not many significant differences from the manga, other than the final battle of Season 1, some filler, and some characters having different personalities (i.e. in the manga Eren is less angry and Hange is less crazy). Season 3 Part 1 had some changes from the manga, mainly changing the order of scenes and shortening them, so you can alternatively start reading from Chapter 51 to see some details, character development, and worldbuilding that the anime skipped. However, you are not missing out on anything plot-relevant. The manga releases at a rate of one 45 page chapter per month, officially on the 8th of each month. Though sometimes the chapters leak a few days early.

Where will Season 3 end?

Based on some advertising and some content from the premiere, it will likely end at Chapter 90.

What about Season 4?

There is as yet no news about Season 4. Season 3 was announced immediately after the Season 2 finale. Hopefully the same will happen this year.

Will it be good?

There's no way I can give a definitive answer to this. The story arc that Season 3 Part 2 will adapt is generally very widely praised. It is one of the most popular arcs among manga readers. However, every arc has its share of fans and critics. Ultimately, there are many vastly differing opinions on the quality. You'll have to wait and see, and decide for yourself.

Where should I look for official news?

The official website is the main source of announcements and news. Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Anime News Network are also all trustworthy sources. News will also all be posted to /r/ShingekiNoKyojin. The Attack on Titan Wikia is very well curated and posts announcements as well, but beware spoilers and trolls seeking to spread lies. Don’t completely trust sources such as MyAnimeList.net or Wikipedia, as they can be edited by anyone, and will sometimes contain fake rumours.
