[Spoilers] We are ruining the show for ourselves.

This is not gonna be well-structured, so sorry about that.

The nitpicking that has been happening about episode 3 has been absolutely ridiculous. Downvote me all you want for having an unpopular opinion, but I have never seen something like this before. People calling the episode absolute trash because Jon didn’t light the trench and characters didn’t die due to plot armor. I’m sorry, what? That ruins the whole episode for you? Let me remind you, this stuff has ALWAYS happened in the series. Yes, the so-called “glory days” of S1-S4 also had plot armor. Jon has always been saved by someone when it was convenient - The Vale, Benjen, Dany, Tormund and lots of other minor characters. This isn’t new. Jon also survived impossible odds during BotB - anyone else facing a clash of horses like that would be dead.

Now, I agree that it happened way too much in this episode - and if these characters don’t have a purpose later on, keeping them alive is stupid. But to say something like this makes the entire episode trash... really? While I was watching, I was on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed it as much as BotB, maybe even more, and all these seemingly “big” mistakes went over my head - because they were insignificant enough not to care about compared to what else was happening. To say it ruins the episode is a definite overstatement.

About the ending - I was also disappointed with the Night King’s death. I expected him to live until ep 5 in King’s Landing, because the theories on Reddit were so good I wanted to believe them. But honestly, when you take a step back and look at the episode again, it is still one of the best pieces of television ever created. We have no idea what will happen in the next 3 episodes - perhaps they are gonna do something so good that everything will make sense. Perhaps not. Either way, calling it garbage is uneccessary until we have seen the rest.

To conclude my ramblings, I think the nitpicking is honestly ruining people’s enjoyment of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and would say it is one of the best in the series, definitely a 9/10 with Winds of Winter a 10/10 for me. Then I go on Reddit, and my enjoyment dies. Of course, you can write what you didn’t like - discussion is always interesting, and most of this sub is pretty reasonable. This is for the people who call the episode trash because of minor mistakes, and when they don’t even have the full context of the story yet. Hell, you don’t even know if Bran ends up having some huge plot twist that ties all the loose ends together.

Now, when the show is over and we have a Disney ending with Jon and Dany + child on the throne and Cersei dead, that’s when you can call it trash.

TL;DR: Enjoy the show for what it is, not for what it could be.

EDIT: As I expected, a lot of people in the comments missed my point and keep writing the same points I have heard a hundred times since Sunday. Having critique is fine. I agree with all of it myself. Making it a huge deal to the point of hating the show is ridiculous. I feel sorry that people can’t enjoy it anymore because of this. When I go on this subreddit, I want to share my love for the series with others, not hear a bunch of people exclaiming their hate. And for god’s sake, everyone is judging this episode as if it’s the end. There are 3 more left! Save your judgements for the real finale. Then we can talk about the Night King dying and never being mentioned again.
