I’m doing my third rewatch and can’t help but conclude that Walt is a good criminal but not on the same level as Gus.
I can’t recall the exact timeline but over the course of 2 years I think, Walt makes it pretty big but only towards the end - most of the other times he’s kind of stumbling around from one disaster to another - not to mention his pride issue that makes him act like someone who wants to get caught in many cases (stuff he said to Hank about the copy cat, keeping Gales book).
If Walt had as much time as Gus had (20 years) do you think Walt would have made it as big as Gus or not? I feel like Gus is way smarter at not getting caught and doing his criminal empire the right way - where as Walt doesn’t seem to act as logical in many cases. If it wasn’t for Walt after all, Gus would still be in business and alive...I wonder if Walt, given the same time and opportunity l, could have put his ego aside and built an empire as big as Gus.
I red on Quora that based on conservative estimates, Gus most likely earned upwards of a billion dollars plus.
Could Walt have accomplished this without getting caught if he had 20 years like Gus?
I didn’t see it at first but I’m starting to think that Gus is actually the much better criminal in hindsight.
