I feel like their careers are such a rich plot point. Overall, I love that Jimmy and Kim are both lawyers who know so much about each others' lives and can boost each other up career-wise. Jimmy goes into the library at work after being left out of a conversation between Kim and Chuck. He decides to pursue Davis and Main when Kim very pointedly joins in a wild night with him and then throws him out the next morning to go to work. Throughout the series, there is a dynamic where Kim's faith in him and his desire to impress her make him aim higher that he seemingly would have. In return, he gives Kim the inspiration to leave HHM and makes it literally possible by sacrificing himself to get her Mesa Verde.
I was wondering if people think them having the same job adds tension to the story too. Do other people see competition between them? Are money, status, and shall we say professional pride, elements in their relationship? I honestly don't see much of a dark side to their relationship (other than maybe the scene where Jimmy tries to blackmail Mesa Verde). It seems like both are generous and not competitive about helping the other succeed. But I could also see there being some tension, though not nearly as much as Jimmy and Chuck. If they do get the Sandpiper money, is there going to be a conflict about Kim not wanting to do Wexler McGill again?
Wait actually, come to think of the blackmail + wedding proposal... how was getting married supposed to solve their problem again? I thought Kim was pissed at Jimmy because he was lying to her. Even if marriage encourages him to come clean, it won't prevent people from assuming they are working together. Was she basically not mad at being lied to? or was it like on TV where people are yelling and then they start making out because they're just so mad it makes them more in love.
