I, like many GoT show fans were really let down by the ending, people argue that it was going downhill at season 5 but I still thought it was probably the best tv show at the time. But season 8 ruined the whole journey for me, it just felt like the writers didn't care anymore. But during quarantine I've had the urge to go back to GoT, but I know I'm just going to get dissapointed by season 8 again.
But I've still got that urge, so I was thinking about buying some of the books. But I don't want it to go the same way as the show, as I've seen lots of people complain about George R.R taking forever to finish the last (Two?) books. And how people are worried that the ending won't be very good. Are these opinions wrong? And should I give the books a shot?
