Did Hershel getting bit by walker, and then having his leg cut-off/amputated give him immunity to the flu/strep outbreak at the prison?
Like maybe he was bit by a walker that was carrying that certain flu strain already, and the bite somehow acted like a flu vaccine, sort of. Yeah, that sounds pretty far-fetched, but now else can we explain his immunity?
Probably a super dumb long-shot question. I've just always wondered how Hershel avoided getting sick and dying very quickly given his age and condition. He stays in the quarantine cellblock with all the sick people, even gets coughed and sneezed on numerous times but never shows any symptoms or gets sick.
