[Spoilers] I get it the ending destroyed the show for a lot of people who will never get past their disappointment and anger and how it fell short and didn’t live up to their expectations. For me I was able to better come to terms with the ending on the rewatch. Maybe because there wasn’t the shock this time. I knew what was coming so I could process it better. While I wouldn’t say I understood the characters choices I kind of sort of understood somewhat why they made the characters make the choices they made.
At the end of the day it’s a TV show. I’m amazed they pulled off what they did. Crazy commitment for the cast and crew. A truly monumental accomplishment. It sucks George hasn’t finished the books. Kinda makes sense they were sort of adrift working from cliff notes instead of a fully realized narrative. I wonder how much different the last season would have been if they had another book to work from.
It’s a shame so many people were alienated by the ending and can’t see past the flaws. For me it’s like looking at art you get what you’re given to look at. I can appreciate what went into it and accept it at face value. I was surprised at how much more I enjoyed the show on rewatch understanding all the connections better.
