But it does with GoT.
Rewatching Lindsey Ellis hot takes reminds me again how I loved the show and used to rewatch and rewatched the earlier seasons before season 8 came out. I am sure you all have watched it, but I quote her last takes in all this mess that strikes me how she really loved the show.
"....Making a case not just for this tragedy, but for the endurance of tragic stories in general.
Romeo & Juliet, Orpheus & Eurydice. We tell and retell these stories despite knowing how they’re going to end. Knowing how the show ends, are you going to begin to watch it again?
What is the legacy of game of thrones going to be?
I used to watch and rewatch the earlier seasons of the show. But now, knowing how it ends, knowing what they’re building towards, knowing how nihilistic and stupid and mean it ends up being, there’s no enjoyment in the journey even anymore.
The enjoyment of experiencing a story should not be ruined by knowing how it ends..."
I still re-read the books and enjoy them a lot. May be a good thing that TWOW has not / will never come out. Because in the books lies the hope, that all of this leads to something, anything better the how the show ended.
Thoughts?
