GOT has to be one of the most addictive and incredibly well done shows i've ever seen. Only a few shows can do that for me. The political intrigue in the early seasons were unmatched, and extremely well done. The ending disappointed me immensely, but I feel like the early seasons are overshadowed by the fuckup that dumb and dumber did. They screwed a masterpiece of a show up, but GOT's early seasons were so strong, and I feel that it's a bit unfair to forget them because of a few terrible later seasons. It's important to cherish s1-s6 than complain about 7 and 8 all the fucking time. Just my take on it, because the hate on s8 is so immense that it seems like no one wants to talk about this show anymore.
TL;DR - The ending sucked. Early seasons was goat tv. Move on.
