I remember in the next episode after "Chicanery", Howard encouraged Chuck to not give up on his career in law and asked him to return to working at HHM. Chuck did what Howard asked him to do and got back in the law game. Then some time later, completely out of the blue, Howard wants to kick Chuck out of HHM! I've watched season 3 twice and I still do not understand the reason behind Howard's change of mind.
