So, why does Gimple receive so much backlash?

I never posted here before, but I do like this sub, and I've been reading up a lot on people's thoughts about Fear The Walking Dead. I watched Season 1 (which I thought was okay, although it felt really rushed). I watched Season 2 (which was good in my opinion, especially in the last few episodes). And then Season 3 (which is generally considered to be REALLY good, a point I agree with because it feels the show has already it's wings finally).

But now I'm hearing that Gimple is coming into the picture for Season 4, and I already hear so much disdain for him. It's starting to worry ME. Now, I'm a huge fan of the original, and even I have to agree with the general complaints for the parent show over on that sub. There are genuine flaws in the writing (among other things), and Season 8 of TWD has been hit or miss (just as hit or miss as Season 3 of that show). But when Gimple came in for Season 4 at the time, there was a lot of positive feedback, saying that he "saved" the show (or in other words, he course corrected the show back into the much more focused direction of the comics). The writing at the time was good - and at times, even fantastic (Season 5 had an outstanding season premiere that hasn't been matched yet in production, writing, pacing, action, cinematography, etc).

But the general consensus on Gimple has declined just like the quality, and it's not making me feel optimistic. Gimple can't possibly be a deal breaker, right? Now I'm not saying nobody should be worried and shut up about it, but what's going on? Is Gimple THAT bad? Will it really ruin Season 4?

I also know about the crossover. I'm not happy about that admittedly either, Morgan was the LAST person I thought they would consider for that...I mean, what about Abraham?
