Just learned some very interesting things about the show that I never knew...

I was searching the internet for some little known facts, which I do sometimes in order to compile information for a random facts game that I play with my brother, and I came across a factoid which stated that Breaking Bad was originally turned down by HBO, TNT, and FX.

This came as a surprise to me, because I had believed that the whole concept was originated and turned into reality at AMC. After seeing this fact, I searched the internet looking for information to verify that it was true. That search provided verification and also led me to find out a few other things about Breaking Bad that I never knew.

As such, I figured that I would share what I found here in case anyone else may not have already known the following:

  • The role of Walter White was offered to and passed up by both John Cusack and Matthew Broderick before Bryan Cranston was eventually cast for the role.

  • An episode of AMC's The Walking Dead had a hidden easter egg for AMC fans, which was a nod to Breaking Bad. This can be found in a second season episode of The Walking Dead titled, "Bloodletting." In that episode, Daryl handles a bag of drugs and pain pills. You can clearly see Walt's blue meth at the bottom of the bag.

  • The Jessie Pinkman character (played by Aaron Paul) was supposed to be killed off at the end of Season 1. Apparently, as he told Paul, Gilligan changed his mind about killing off Jessie because Gilligan liked the chemistry (pun intended) between Jessie and Walt. As a result, Paul was forevermore nervous that Gilligan could kill off the Pinkman character at any moment. Gilligan used this fear of Paul's to play practical jokes on Paul on the set.

The above mentioned facts and a few others are listed in this article if you are interested in reading it for yourself.
