I hate the fact that they killed Nick and am trying to find an angle they could use that would make his death interesting.
Madison is obviously in a more peaceful place, mentally. She tells Mel they found a better way, I take that to mean she wants to live and try to find peaceful ways for people to live together instead of using force to get what she wants.
She has a soft spot for the Charlie and she knows Nick did too. I'm thinking it would be fun, assuming Madison is alive, to watch Madison and Alecia have two different desires. Madison taking the position that Charlie is just a kid and has been manipulated by Mel and she wants to save her. If for no other reason than to honor Nick. Sort of a Rick/Negan thing.
Where as Alecia doesn't care that she's a kid, she wants to find and kill her. So we could have this dynamic where Mother and Daughter are at extreme ends of the spectrum. Morgan's whole "all life is precious.......Imma kill everybody" mentality, it could make for a fun story. Especially if, unlike twd, this time the aggressor wins and Alecia slaughters Charlie. Then we could have some fun watching how she lives with that after the fact. Killing a child would have a strong impact on her.
