2019 Television Preview

2019 is shaping up to be a pretty big year: plenty of final seasons and shows returning after not airing this year. Now, most of the shows I'll be mentioning are shows I watch or am aware of (not meant to be a complete list), so feel free to add any other "big events" happening in 2019 on TV and comment in with what you're most looking forward to!

HBO

They're gonna have a huge year. Final seasons of Game of Thrones and Veep, return of Big Little Lies and True Detective, the Deadwood movie, another season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and the premiere of Watchmen. Westworld probably won't be back until early 2020.

Final seasons

Mr. Robot, Homeland, The Affair, The Deuce, You're the Worst, Orange Is the New Black, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Big Bang Theory, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, Gotham, and I'm sure there's more.

Shows switching networks

Brooklyn Nine-Nine to NBC, Designated Survivor and Lucifer to Netflix, The Expanse to Amazon. I only watch The Expanse of the shows mentioned, but it'll be interesting to see if/how these shows will be different when on a new platform.

Other tidbits

  • Veronica Mars revival on Hulu
  • New season of Cosmos
  • Second season of American Gods with new showrunners
  • Maybe season 4 of Fargo? We know it's beginning production next year
  • Season 3 of Stranger Things delayed until next summer
  • Always Sunny on its final contracted season (14). FX and the guys will have to make a decision on whether to end it soon or go on forever.
