Holy shit (10.12)

I just watched episode 12 of season 10. (The aftermath of Hilltop) and goodddaaammmnnn. HOLY FUCK. Firstly, those explosions at the beginning felt scary as hell. The burning mansion, flame walkers pushing in... pure chaos. I loved it. Then we got a nice sweet spot from season 4's "Road To Terminus" vibe and damn, it felt good. Beta ripping Gamma's torso in half was brutal, Earl bashing his head on a blunt spike was really unsettling. I never really gave a shit about Earl, but his dialogue, acting and interactions with Judith was really heavy. The way the actor stuttered his words and the way he took care of the kids really made me feel sympathetic to a character I never paid attention to before. The way he soldiered himself to bash himself was unsettling. My wife covered her eyes during that scene. Everything up to that point portrayed the hopeless and despair after the loss of Hilltop perfectly... just like the aftermath of the prison.

Now let's talk about what comes next. Firstly Negan and Alpha's dialogue was faanttassstic. Before I made this post, I went through the live discussions and post episode discussions to see people's thoughts and reactions. And I was surprised to see people saying they were tired of Alpha. I thought she was perfect! Her time on the show felt perfect and the actor was great. Seeing Alpha come to acceptance and finish her mission of becoming the true whisperer she intended to be made me feel proud of her strangely. Idk why. When I saw Negan call out Alpha for living a lie and that she's sick to kill her own blood was amazing, his talk about his wife and growing disappointment with Alpha hyped everything splendidly. At that point I knew what was coming. The only thing that surprised me was to not see Lydia in the shed. And when I saw Negan inhale deeply before Alpha opened the door shows how great of an actor JDM is. Once he sliced... I had a mixed rush of excitement and shock. Alpha is dead. Hoolyyy shit. I don't know how to explain it but although you saw it coming, you just couldn't believe it was happening. This is definitely the best episode ever since season 7 episode 1. Holy shit. I fucking loved this episode. It's all I thought about when I went to bed. I hope the finale overthrows this episode.
