Can we agree that the actor that plays young Charles in the scene where he’s reading to jimmy looks and sounds just like old charles

Peter Gould’s visiting one of my classes in university this week. Anyone have any good questions for him?

Like the title says! Can verify with mods if necessary/anyone actually gives a shit here. I have a couple of questions I already have prepared but they’re mainly surface level and geared towards industry- and career-related topics that’ll probably be cleared up early on in the discussion. It’s a big class, but so far this year, since everything’s through zoom, very few students are actually asking questions instead of just talking about a TV show/episode every night for 2 hours, and I’m pretty convinced very few of them are active viewers of the show. Point being, there’s a precedent and strong possibility I’ll have the opportunity to ask him several questions.

Thought I’d pick your brains to see if any of you have any intelligent questions that I could toss his way— I’ll totally update with any and all answers I get (upon approval from class).

Sorry if this is a shitpost, or against the rules (I don’t think it is), swear I’m not trying to karma-whore or get an easy A. This is just the best place for intelligent discussion for BCS I’ve found on the internet and yes I just realized I said that about a subreddit. Frankly, the more I have to ask means the less I’ll embarrassingly gush him with compliments, anyway.

Apple TV+‘s Ted Lasso is amazing

I was very skeptical after watching the trailer and hearing Jason Sudeikis put on a southern accent, but five episodes in and wow this show is written so well. The character development is done at a perfect pace and the feel good moments are heartwarming. It stinks that a lot of people will miss this show because of the platform it’s on but I can’t recommend this show enough.

Plot hole? - why did they have to cover up the ambush?

Why did Mike/Gus's crew have to cover up the ambush of Saul by the Columbian mercenaries?

Let's say it had not been covered up, and Lalo was told the truth that Saul was ambushed in the desert.

  • Maybe Lalo would have assumed that Gus had ordered the ambush to keep him in jail, despite Gus's denials. This seems like it would be a plausible explanation, except that I assume Juan Bolsa (who ordered the ambush) would have the foresight to realize that the blowback to Gus's organization from both Lalo and the rest of the cartel would be astronomical if he was thought to have ordered it
  • Juan Bolsa would not have come forward to admit to the ambush, as that would prompt wide cartel warfare as well

So writing this, I guess it makes sense that Gus covered it up because I only see consequences for him if it was discovered.

But that prompts another question - why on earth would Bolsa order the ambush then? It seems the only possible outcome had the ambush happened without intervention was basically cartel warfare against Gus - far worse than what Lalo was doing. And Bolsa clearly did not want this disruption.

Is the only explanation that Bolsa was being an idiot?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Apologies if I missed something obvious.

EDIT: thanks u/plasticunderpants and u/slipn_jimmy: What I missed is the scenario where the ambush goes off without hitch in secret, and the money and Saul vanish without a trace. In this case, Lalo would not suspect Gus involvement and would simply think Saul ran off with the money (he says as much when Saul initially doesn't show). This would have accomplished what Juan Bolsa was going for in ordering the ambush. Once Gus intervened, he had to cover up what happened since the Lalo would have been suspicious of his involvement in either the coverup or the ambush itself.

Potential Walking dead discord RPG

Hey all, me and a friend of mine were thinking of starting a role playing game on discord that’d loosely follow the plot of the comics and allow players to play as versions of the characters. We don’t have anything finalized yet and are in the very early stages of development, but I figured I’d post this here to see if anyone would be interested in joining once we do have things ready. If you are, feel free to dm me or just comment on the post and I’ll hook you up with invites once we get things set up and are ready to start.

Its been since season 2 since I watched the show and, now since it's on Netflix maybe rewatch it from the beginning so I can catch up. And being on Netflix no commercials either.

I think that was my problem I get involved and it cut to commercial and i would lose interest. Just trying to get opinions if I should start over so I can reconnect.

Is it everyone's head canon that Gus had the three ladies from the cleaning staff killed?

I forget which episode exactly this is. But in a pissing contest between Walt and Gus, Walt convinces the three women from the garment factory to clean the underground meth lab for him because Jesse is no longer there. When Gus finds out, he has the three fired. He then tells Walt that he also had them deported.

Does anyone else other than me feel that Gus just would have had them killed? And do you feel like not only does Walt know this, but he also knew it would be an extremely likely possibility when he had them clean his meth lab?

What does "breaking bad" mean to you?

I just binged the whole series for the first time! I Know I'm so late but WOW! Absolutely one of the best shows ever made. I've never been more emotionally connected to a shows characters. But what does the term "breaking bad" mean to you after you've watched the show? To me it means a cancer struck chemist finally gets the chance to revenge on what he's missed out on in terms of Gray Matter not including him. Having cancer gave him that YOLO mentality to do what he's always wanted and that's make the millions he deserved.

If Chuck wasn't such a piece of shit, Saul would've been on the right track to continue pursuing Elder Law instead of *Criminal* Law. Which would've resulted in Jesse never being able to meet up with Walter, which means that Breaking Bad never could've happened. In conclusion, FUCK CHUCK.

[SPOILERS] I just finished S4E10

This is more of an appreciation post for this show that I’ve come to love immensely, maybe even as much as I love breaking bad. The cinematic work is a freaking masterpiece and they make even the simplest things in the show so moving, whether it be a montage or intense scenes with unconventional camera angles. I got so invested in Kim and Jimmy’s relationship to the point where I felt like Kim was yelling at me in the scene after Jimmy crossed the line with the Mesa Verde slander videos. Their dynamic is so intense and seemingly genuine that it’s so easy to feel what Jimmy was going through during their arguments. Not only that, but everything is depicted so damn well that it’s emotionally taxing , for example during Jimmy and Mike’s trek through the desert, the apprehension that struck Jimmy and Kim when Lalo shows up to their apartment and interrogate him, the fear and shock that Jimmy felt days after his run in with the money pick-up ambush, and Nacho’s obvious conundrum with his double-cross situation and only wanting so desperately to escape the clutches of the cartel. It’s so insane to me that this show started out with everyone in a pretty normal law/corporate America scenario where the biggest conflicts were between Jimmy, Chuck, and HHM, and now things have completely turned horrifying for everyone involved. I’m so excited for S6 and it’s definitely bittersweet knowing this will be the wrap-up, though it won’t be all bad since I’ll probably rewatch BB after that. But god damn if I won’t miss BCS characters like Kim and Nacho. Now I’m gonna go read some prediction theories/watch behind the scenes vids on YT.

Songs that remind me of TWD that haven’t actually been in the series:

New Slang by The Shins- I imagine it’d play during one of those scenes at the beginning of an ep where the characters are waking up, going to the gate, and then walking through the woods hunting or something.

Not About Angels by Birdy- This song h e a v i l y reminds me of Beth for some reason. I may have heard it in an edit or something but definitely Beth.

Love Like Ghosts by Lord Huron- Whenever I hear it I think of Michonne for some reason. I think it reminds me of her after Rick blows up the bridge and how she had been coping.

Wolf by First Aid Kit- The percussion in it makes me think of when everyone is preparing for battle and stuff. I think about each of the communities when everyone is on high alert during certain episodes.

Ophelia by The Lumineers- Reminds me of Carol a lot for some reason.

Strongly suggest all of these songs because they remind me of some of the songs in the actual soundtracks (which are amazing).

[NO SPOILERS] Why do people hate D&D ?

Unless i'm wrong, which is very likely, they made the show happen and exist, they produced 4 perfect seasons, 2 excellent, and 1 good season, and a shitty one, right ?

They ran out of material, fans we're asking for more, they made more, yes for profit. But it's not like season 6 was horrible.

Shouldn't the hate be directed to the writers ?

Anyone feel bad for Howard Hamlin?

I am rewatching the series and I originally hated Howard Hamlin. I thought he was an asshole to Jimmy and self-righteous. But rewatching the series I have the utmost compassion for him throughout the first 4 seasons (haven’t gotten to 5 yet). He handles so much shit that Jimmy and Kim send his way, battles Charles at the end, never really loses his cool and professionalism even during the most heated moments.

Just wanted to know how everyone feels about this character.

[No Spoilers] Will we ever see a remake of Game of Thrones in the future?

Due to incomplete books, the latter half of the show suffered from a significant quality drop in writing. Furthermore, many interesting story-lines and major characters were completely removed from the show (Arianne Martell, Faegon, real Stannis story, Lady Stoneheart, etc ). Do you think that we will see a complete remake of the show in the next decade? I think GOT still is a very valuable IP for HBO and I wouldn't be shocked if they remake the show in its entirety.

What would’ve happened

I think by now we’ve all got our licks in at Gimple for killing off Carl in the Tv show. But just now I realized how stupid they were being. When you consider what was happening behind the scenes of season 8, which was that Andrew Lincoln was planning on leaving that season but he ended up staying for the beginning of season nine, it makes no sense to kill off Carl, and I think they missed a big opportunity. As we got nearer to the end of his run on the show, Carl was becoming a respected and important member of the group. Everyone was relying on him when Negan came and bombers Alexandria. I think instead of killing him off like they did, which sucked, they should’ve had him slot into the leadership void that Rick was going to leave. It would set up perfectly for the ending as well. A commonwealth arc with Carl as the revolutionary would be awesome. Just think about if instead of Rick taking off his prosthetic, Carl takes off an eye patch. Then you just have Judith take Carl’s role. I think a final scene with Judith reading to her child, “Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing... you’re there and you’re safe because of Rick and Carl Grimes” would be even better better because they literally handed the world off to Judith. Sorry, just needed to rant a little bit. Let me know what you guys think.

My problem with the new characters compared to the old characters

I feel that TWD always ruins the best characters by killing them, for example Shane and Merle. These characters are badass, deep and charismatic. Why don't we have characters like this in the last seasons? The last character like this maybe Negan but the other characters are boring. Now we have characters like Ezekiel, Jerry, Aaron, Gabriel, Siddiq, please compare these characters (boring characters without charisma) with characters like Shane, Governor, Merle, Rick, Old Daryl

I don't understand how characters like Ezekiel, Aaron, Jerry, Gabriel, have had more screentime than Shane, Merle. When I see characters like Jerry I want to fall asleep watching the show, when I see characters like Shane or Merle I'm addicted to the show and i want watch more of them, you understand the point

You can say ''then stop watching the show'' when the solution would be for the showrunners to add awesomes characters like in the old seasons.

I know I'll have a lot of downvotes but that's what I think.

It’s amazing how much better the show is when you can binge watch it

I stopped watching the show air around the middle of season six. I just remember how much it sucked to wait weeks to see anything about your favorite character because they decided to devote entire episodes to specific characters. It ruined the pace of the show. It’s so much better to immediately see the next episode and know what happens. I can’t imagine having to wait months to watch 7x01 like damn I would’ve been mad.

They never say "I love you." to each other

I've been watching this show during quarantine and I can't help but notice the weird dynamic between Jimmy and Kim. There are times, like when Kim stands up to Lalo for Jimmy or Kim standing up Chuck for Jimmy, where you just see how she cares about him. All the times where she just smiles at him. It kind of melts your heart a bit but he, not once, says "I love you." or anything in the vicinity of that.

What do you all think about this? This might be something that has been addressed already but it has been on my mind and I just finished the fifth season.

10x16 death theory.

I think that there’s a high chance Father Gabriel will die via sacrifice. There’s a shot of him in the promo for 10x16 and it shows him standing outside in a corridor with his gun loaded. My theory is that Gabe locks people inside rooms, protecting them from the hoarde whilst he stands out and defends them. His story would come full circle too as at the beginning he locked people out of the church to die. Now he dies locking people in saving them.

Characters and screen time.

I'm not one to complain about Vince Gilligan and his cinematography and story writing for both shows, but it seems like some of the more interesting story plots are not shown enough but I suppose that's subjective. Watching Saul and all of his lawyer stuff gets a little boring sometimes when there's Mike and Nacho's story. I prefer talking scenes over action any day but when their tickling my penis and keeping the good shit from me it's gives me a little blue balls, but that's kind of the point of it though right. Just a topic for discussion. I'll watch it now matter what because I love it and 5th season was amazing.

S6x01 "the end is the beginning" synopsis + possible spoilers

FearTWD Ep 6x01 – "The End is the Beginning" Synopsis

"Mortally wounded Morgan must decide whether to help a desperate stranger while a mysterious bounty hunter tries to finish what Ginny couldn't."

FearTWD 601, "The End is the Beginning," is a Western-style zombie movie and among the show's best episodes. A sequel to TheWalkingDead's "Clear" & "Here's Not Here," it's not until episode's end that we find out if Morgan is alive or dead... and it's a hell of an answer.

AMC has sent out screeners of 6x1 and a person on Twitter had this to say:

After watching #FearTWD 601 all I can say until the embargo lifts is:

  1. Forget EVERYTHING you thought about where this is show is heading because you have NO IDEA.

  2. This season is going to be absolutely B O N K E R S

If the rest of what's been shot is this good, well, damn. I did not like the last 2 episodes of season 5 but now after seeing 601 they make sense. Big changes are ahead and they are so interesting...like nothing we have seen in this universe before. If you were ready to quit after the season 5 finale I don’t blame you, but come back. Give 6 a chance because this is definitely going to be different. I would give it a solid 8. It’s not one of my all-time favorite episodes but it’s very good and I’m definitely intrigued for the new story arc they’re setting up.

Although I doubt this applies, no spoilers please.

In case you’re wondering, a “grommet” is the small metal thing in the center of Carl’s hat allowing the badge to be put in. It’s a strange question, but if anyone knows the size of the grommet so I can buy one to replicate the hat it would be greatly appreciated.

What's the significance with the letter A??

Sorry if this is a newb question, but I've always wondered about the continuous appearance of "the letter A" in the show. I think the first time was during the S4 finale, but I could be wrong. Then you saw Rick's house in Alexandria marked with an A (although that could just stand for "Alexandria" in that case)...but his hand was also marked with an A (and iirc, the camera zoomed in on it like it was significant). Then you have the part where Anne/Jadis is on the walkie saying "I have an A, etc".

I feel like there could be more examples of this but this is all I can remember at the moment. Is there an answer to this? I imagine it's comic-related?

I miss Fear so much.

I'm not here to talk crap about Morgan and Friends. I just want to share how much I miss the old Fear. I have no one else to talk to about this.

I know it wasn't perfect from day one, and there were definitely times the show disappointed me. At the end of the day though, it was a cool ass zombie apocalypse drama series. I don't know about you guys but I became very immersed in the show by the end of season 1.

I loved the atmosphere/vibe of the show especially in the first two seasons. Reminded me a lot of season 1 of the main show. And the awesome landscape shots we got frequently were incredible. The season 2 opening gave me the chills.

And the music was amazing also! Kettering, Calexico, Stand by Me, for examples. They always added perfectly to whatever was going on at the time.

And of course the cast. Say what you want about the characters but the cast themselves were awesome. We did lose a lot of mains and randoms throughout the seasons. But Kim, Alycia, Frank, Coleman, and Mercedes, plus others, seemed like they really loved what they were doing.

Back then TWD was in it's prime and these people knew they were committing to a potentially long story. I bet Frank would not have left the show if Erickson's story continued. I was ready to commit to years of this story.

Oh well, it's in the past I guess. Just wanted to vent. Its been so long but it still hurts.

Back in season 8 I lowkey thought Alden and Maggie would be a thing. I’m not sure if anyone else did but I liked the way they interacted and I think Maggie (although her one true love was obviously Glenn and she doesn’t need a man to be happy) had been through enough alone.

He was the only one who really respected her and spoke for the group when the saviors were locked up at Hilltop and even though I liked him and Enid, I think it would’ve been interesting for Maggie.

All 5 Season finales ranked from least good to best!

  1. ABQ

  2. A No-Rough-Stuff Type Deal

  3. Felina

  4. Full Measures

  5. Face Off

Half Measures and Face Off are so amazing I had to think a lot before placing which one where. Face Off ended up winning because it is amazingly a great set up and also a great ending if the show were to be cancelled. The last 20 minutes of Full Measures are so dramatically perfect, but Face Off is like that for the entire episode. Felina is an amazing television episode but some parts were not perfect. Season 1’s finale is a great set up for what is ahead and a good closer for the season. ABQ is amazing as well but falls short and doesn’t actually finish a lot, around half of it feels pointless, and the ending feels a little rushed, however none of these are bad and I would never be able to write anything of this magnitude, that’s why I put “least good” instead of worst.

Pacifist Morgan

I can't take Morgan seriously, what the fuck does he want to be a pacifist in the shit of a zombie apocalypse? Where humans are the most dangerous? Why doesn't he just do it like most characters and kill only those who deserve it?

I like Morgan but the character has many flaws, if it were to continue like this it would be better to have left him in the main series and kill him on the stakes.

The most heartbreaking death of the show.

Personally, I’ll go with Travis’s one. I’ll always remember that punch in the stomach, and the sorrow I had for a week. Seeing that awesome and solid character – who had lost everything – unfairly dying a few days later was as depressing as clever – in terms of writing. There was this feeling that someone was missing for the rest of the season, the same feeling Kim Dickens subtly used throughout the season for her interpretation of Madison. And it’s one of the reasons why season 3 is so good – even if my favorite is still the second season.

[SPOILERS] Everyone who killed a Direwolf met their demise.

I’ve been reading the books and watched the show again recently and noticed this. In the books it is mentioned that a Direwolf hasn’t been seen in like a hundred years and it was an omen from the gods. A higher power is definitely at work throughout the show so it’s worth considering. Maybe it’s just a coincidence but perhaps not, one of the main themes of the book/show is choice & consequence. Everyone who chose to kill or caused the death of a dire wolf ended up meeting the same fate, sequentially as well. Robert chose to order the death of Lady (Sansa’s wolf) and Ned served as a thoughtful executioner, and they both died in that order. Then Walder Frey had Robs Direwolf killed, then was killed by Arya. Rickons Direwolf was killed by Ramsey Bolton and was then eaten by his own hounds. The Night Kings horde killed Summer and then was also killed by Arya. I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed this and/or had any thoughts on this.

On my third rewatch of the show, I think I discovered a motive for Gus' actions toward Victor I haven't seen posted anywhere online

Obvious spoiler alert for Breaking Bad, I'm not quite finished with Better Call Saul (spoiler up to season 3 (although I've seen billboards advertising this character's appearance so not sure if much of a spoiler)) so I'm not sure if future scenes with Gus and Tyrus prove or disprove my theory, but their longstanding relationship is a factor in it.

There were many reasons presented to rationalize Gus killing Victor with a boxcutter such as his face being spotted at Gale's murder, Victor spoiling the batch, proving a point, testing to if Jesse and Mike could handle the more grisly aspects of his business before starting his cartel war, ect. I think there's a deeper connection that ties in with Gus' relationship with Maximino, Hector, Bolsa, and Eladio however.

Victor's murder in Season 4, Episode 1 sits between Gus' coordination of Bolsa's murder in Season 3 Episode 8, and his poisoning of Eladio and takeover of the cartel in Season 4 Episode 10. In Season 4 Episode 8, we learn that Gus' drive to seek revenge against the cartel comes from the murder Maximino (heavily hinted to be Gus' former lover). Irregardless of their relationship, Maximino and Gus experience intense homophobia and racism at the hands of Hector and Eladio (but importantly not Bolsa) .

Under the assumption that Victor is cartel-connected or at least Mexican-American, I think Gus' murder of him and replacement with the black, seemingly queer, Tyrus serves as a red hearing for the motivations for his revenge drive, as well as a power play against Eladio/the cartel. I think the timing of the box cutting and replacement with Tyrus after Gus' arrangement of Bolsa's murder is meant to highlight the risk that Gus has calculated, and accepted, by not only standing on his own against Eladio and the Salamanca family, but doing so while waving his dick in the air. I initially thought Tyrus was Haitian because of the character's military demeanor, the actor's accent, and because of the last name 'Kitt,' but on this latest view I think the scenes of him speaking Spanish are meant to show he's from a Spanish speaking country like the Dominican Republic or possible also Chile like Gus (I'm not sure if further episodes of Better Call Saul better explain his background).

My two biggest supports for this theory is that by the time Gus attempts his takeover of Eladio in Season 4 Episode 10, Mexican-Americans are almost entirely absent from Gus' operations both north and south of the border, which seems like a purposeful casting decision. My other piece of support is that scenes where Tyrus is present with Gus in the company of Hector Salamanca, Hector seemingly directs an equal amount of angry body language at Tyrus as he does towards Gus. Unless something is revealed about Tyrus' backstory in Better Call Saul, it doesn't make sense for Hector to be equally as angry with Tyrus as he does with Gus, who has almost single-highhandedly wiped out his entirely family. The only justification I can come up with for Hector displaying such hatred toward Tyrus as he does towards Gus would be that because Tyrus was visibly more black and queer-passing than Gus, Hector viewed that as equivalently as offensive as he does murdering his family (I think that Hector's flashbacks killing Maximino and nearly drowning his nephew shows that his homophobia/racism is willing to go that intense of an extent). Gus smiles when he notices Hector's uncomfortably with Tyrus, which I think is meant to show he's aware of Tyrus' effect, and in a way needs it as a reminder and justification to be so heartless towards Hector.

I would love to know other peoples thoughts on this theory! I apologize if this is in fact a common theory or is seemingly depicted obviously in the narrative, I could not find reference to this theory anywhere online. This ties in with another theory I have that the narrative of the show gradually enters a more unreliable-narrator narrative (where the viewer isn't presented the full side of a situation as it did in earlier seasons) to reflect that Walt and Jesse are out-of-their-depths and becoming more unaware of the nuances of their surroundings (and as straight white men they wouldn't pick up on the nuances on the very present racial and LGBT-discriminatory around them, much like Walt was unaware of Gale's affection for him).

How does Mike do it?

Okay I get it. He was a cop. He was in the military and maybe worked on surveillance for some agency but I dont get it! It is obvious that he is portrayed as a badass and that is the reason he is so capable but what about behind the scenes. In BCS it shows his methods a lot more than BB but what about BB? What connections does he have to figure everything out about his target. Take Gus for example. “If I cant find anything on you pre ‘86 I seriously doubt Schrader can”. What resources would mike have that a federal agent doesnt? Again, I get that it isn’t crucial to the plot. All we need to know is that Mike is very capable and he can do the job but Im just super curious about how he does what he does. Another quick question. How did he find out the laptop was in evidence? He was posing for a mailworker or something? How the hell does that work? This isnt some serious topic or anything but there is some fun to be had as far as shedding light on his potential methods goes

Carol is obviously depression, anger, and bargaining (with Negan).

Ezekiel is denial and acceptance.

If Gale never wrote his note to Walt in the book

It’s crazy to think that a small little note in a book lead to the absolute chaos of the second half of season 5. If Walt has just ripped out that note to be safe when he got it, he’d be living his dream life, and none of the complete madness that ensued would’ve happened. El Camino never would’ve happened either. Little did Gale know as he sat down to write that note while listening to classical music and sipping tea that that small action would lead to a catastrophic butterfly effect.

Better Phone Sloan (A mystery)

I’ve seen a lawyer commercial play a few times here in Massachusetts where a guy blatantly rips off Saul’s catchphrase. He goes “Better phone sloan!” multiple times throughout in the same fashion as our beloved protagonist. I thought it would be funny to post a video to show the loyal fan goers here... yet it somehow doesn’t exist on the internet through basic searching. This is odd because if you’re a lawyer with a commercial you would think your catchy slogan would lead to a web page or at least a phone number. Was he asked to stop? Did he go into hiding after getting involved with psychotic BCS extremists masquerading as malpractice victims? I may never know.

Is Rick Grimes a good leader?

I'm not necessarily talking about being nice, but about the various problems that he has as a leader, with: he always increase the problems,

Rick is definitely not the source of all the fiascos on the show, but he has a bad habit of finding a little problem and turning it into a big problem that eventually culminates in him getting covered in blood and then yelling at a bunch of other survivors ; Being a little thinker,

Rick is not an unintelligent man, he just doesn't have the kind of intelligence needed for a settlement like Alexandria to flourish. He knows how to handle individual missions and lead small groups of fighters, but he was not meant to be responsible for large numbers of people. He thinks on a smaller and more immediate scale than is necessary for an effective leader of a large group of people in times of despair. He has bad skills for people

Good manners and personal skills are not exactly necessary for survival in the zombie apocalypse, but they are necessary to rebuild a civilization; Rick was not very good at being kind to others, good manners and personal skills are not exactly necessary for survival in the apocalypse zombie, but are needed to rebuild a civilization. even in the second season, when he arrived at the Greene family farm, and he has gotten exponentially worse in the years since. He can behave and socialize when it suits him, but he is more likely to try to subdue others by sheer willpower than to try to cooperate. There is a reason why Rick responded to his welcome in Alexandria almost immediately by planning a coup; he is very impulsive

Any leader of the zombie apocalypse must be willing to act, and Rick always does a good job of keeping an eye on the prize. The problem is that keeping an eye on the prize tends to prevent you from seeing the main deadly obstacles in your path. Considering the amount of loyalty he inspires among the survivors, Rick's impulsiveness is incredibly dangerous.

Even after all the deaths, the blood on your hands, some bad decisions, would you choose him to lead your team in the apocalypse?

Incredible foreshadowing (S4 EP 8)

Can’t post the photo because apparently you can’t screen cap Netflix, but in The episode Hermanos, Gus talks to Hector, the last time he will talk to hector before “the incident” however half of his face is lit and the other half is in deep shadow nearly completely dark. [Spoilers] /r/centuryofblood - a new ASOIAF roleplaying game on reddit

/r/CenturyofBlood - a Reddit-based ASOIAF roleplay

Hi there! We're delighted to invite you to /r/CenturyOfBlood, the newest iteration of our game, the successor to /r/ironthronepowers and /r/SevenKingdoms - in the lore of a Song of Ice and Fire.

/r/CenturyofBlood is, as the name suggests, set in 77 AD, during the Century of Blood - a tumultuous period of time between the Doom of Valyria and the beginning of Aegon’s Conquest. There is no one ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, with every region being independent - and, in addition to the normal regions, the smaller Kingdom of the Claw and Freehold of the Narrow Sea.

As you can see, this is an exciting and immersive game, for everyone and anyone to create stories and enjoy GRRM's magnificent world. There is something to be found for everyone in /r/CenturyofBlood, be it the wars and conquest that gave the Century of Blood the name it truly deserves, to exploration, of an old and very different Westeros, to an untamed and constantly changing Essos - romance, intrigue, adventure, brotherhood, and betrayal.

The North

In the north, the Starks rule as the Kings of Winter, with the current ruler being King Jorah Stark. King Jorah succeeded his father, King Brandon “the Bad”, roughly seventeen years ago. King Brandon left the North scarred, burning the North fleet, and nearly drove his vassals to rebellion. King Jorah made many amends with these Lords, leaving them merely tired and exhausted rather than rebellious and angry.

However, following Ironborn raids in 74 AD, the King of Winter, Jorah Stark, led a campaign of retribution against the Ironborn as his ancestor Theon Stark, the Hungry Wolf, had done to the Andals many years prior. This culminated in the siege of Depth's Lament, and the subsequent battles outside of it, in which scores of men - noble and lowborn - died on either side. The campaign ended in disaster, resulting in many Northern nobles, and the King of Winter himself being captured by the Ironborn.

Many had been individually ransomed back, though another Ironborn raid plunged itself from the Saltspear right into the heart of the North, narrowly avoiding Northern response until finally it was cornered leaving the Saltspear by Perceon Manderly and the Western Fleet. The Ironborn won, though narrowly, losing many highborn sons and daughters in the process. Now, after the King and his imprisoned kinsmen have returned, an uneasy peace exists between the North and the Iron Isles - while tensions mount internally as many Houses still reel from the consequences of Depth's Lament. Will the North recover, or spiral into infighting and civil strife?

The Vale

The young Queen of the Mountains and the Vale, Myranda I. Arryn, had successfully taken the reign of her Kingdom into her own hands, and arrangements for a spectacular royal wedding are in process. The region remains relatively peaceful and stable, although internal struggles are rising, both within families and between powerful vassals of House Arryn. The Mountain Clansmen need to be kept at bay, and adventure and danger await in the Mountains of the Moon. The Vale retains it's mostly isolationist nature, yet to be involved in any of the ongoing conflicts, preferring to keep to themselves, and further exploring the unique culture of the region.

The Riverlands

After the recent uprising of House Paege in the western Riverlands was crushed, the Ironborn invaders were driven back into the sea after the Hoare King was slain on the field of battle. Through the alliances forged by King Otho Bracken and Lord Royal Fredrick Darklyn with the Kingdom of the Reach and the new Valyrian Freehold war was narrowly avoided with the Stormlands with a show of unified strength at the Blackwater Bridge. Yet all is not well within the Riverlands. Raventree Hall sits under siege with bands of Blackwood soldiers pillaging the lands around them. And, in the east, the facade of stability which is the Dusklands slowly slips as bitter feuds simmer. Will King Otho restore peace to the west in time to turn his attention to the east to ease the growing tensions? Or will House Darry and House Darklyn continue to escalate tensions unhindered? These two houses posture against each other as House Darry forges alliances with the Claw, and House Darklyn prepares to wield their alliance with the Valyrians in response. Will there be civil war in the eastern Riverlands? Or perhaps a proxy war? Only time will tell, for this is the Century of Blood.

The Iron Islands

Prior to the beginning of the game, the Riverlanders, under the leadership of Ser Jon Fisher, rallied and threw off the yoke of the Iron King Harren the Black, casting him out of their lands. Harren was grievously wounded and some wondered if he would ever recover. When he did it was said foreign magicks were at work for the King seemed not himself half the time. Whispers and doubts spread and the Lords of the Isles began to make their moves in the shadows.

Harren's attempt to retake the Riverlands changed everything. The Black King perished on the field outside Fairmarket, and now the question of who will take up the crown hangs in the balance. His heir apparent, Harras Hoare is little liked by most lords, some of whom favour Harren's firstborn, Sigur. There are others, such as Harald Greyjoy, who make plays for the throne, and now, it seems as if a Kingsmoot is inevitable. Aside from this, the Isles are coming to terms with the changing landscape of Westeros, Houses such as Harlaw are branching out to see what can be gained from more peaceable relations, but of course reavers still plague the shores from Bear Island to Oldtown.

The Iron Islands in this game feel truly unique from the rest of Westeros, from the beginning of development, fantastic work has been done to make the Isles feel culturally distinct in everything from the faith of the Drowned God to the language and terminology of the Ironborn.

The Westerlands

At present, the Kingdom of the Rock sits quietly on the edge of emerging conflicts to the east and north. The Ironborn have not touched the western shores in some time, busy with their war against Winterfell and its domain, with the Harlaw of Harlaw going so far as to extend the olive branch to House Lannister after the peace-efforts of House Kenning of Kayce in the past few years. With a Princess of House Lannister now wed to the Hightower Heir, a friendship with Red Lake developing, and lingering bitterness with House Gardener over a rejected betrothal to Prince Perceon, relations with the Kingdom of the Reach remain uncertain, but peaceful. Equally uncertain are the Rock's relations with the fledgling Kingdom of the Trident, whose conflicts may soon embroil the Westerlands. Whether such involvement will bring plunder or hardship is yet to be seen.

The Reach

The disappearance of the Crown Prince and the deteriorating health of the King has brought about uncertain times in the Reach. A largely unsuccessful search for Prince Perceon Gardener has now ended with him having returned safely to Highgarden on his own, but during his time away, many Reachlords have begun to question the Crown Prince's capabilities as a ruler. This has caused the council to split into two factions, who each hold a different vision for how the council and the High Kingdom should move forward. There's also the alliance being built with the Riverlanders, which has continued to move forward at the cost of many of the other neighbouring kingdoms being largely forgotten about by the Crown. This ties into the growing rivalry between Gardeners and Hightowers, with the latter refusing to pay all their taxes, turning down a royal marriage and accepting one with the Lannisters, and Gardener having responded by diverting trade away from Oldtown. Other than that, most people have been happily going to tourneys, balls and feasts and there's plenty of more personal drama going on between characters at those events (High school drama).

Stormlands

The Stormlands are going through a tumultuous period, one that will either result in a revival of the kingdom or seal its fate into a continual decline. The last few decades have seen the Durrandon Kings ousted from The Kingdom of the Trident, as well as losing territory to the Kingdom of the Reach. The Durrandon Kings now plot for a return to their former glory, but difficulties meet them from all corners. To the south, the Dornish Marches keep their flame of hatred for the Principality of Dorne alive and burning strong. To the north are the martial families of the Bronzewood, and further afield the more shifty Houses of The Hook. Durrandon trusts the Bronzewood to remain firm, but can the same be said for the Masseys? The Bar Emmons? The constant courtship of Valyrians offering gifts and riches beyond their wildest dreams drive an ambition and greed. And of course, further north yet lies The Trident, ever a goal of the Durrandon dynasty. And finally, in the Storm’s Seat, the core Houses of the Kingdom of the Storm plot behind vast walls. Durrandon, Connington, Swann, and Penrose form the backbone of the Kingdom, connecting each of the four other disparate sections together. To them, perhaps most of all, success of the Kingdom is vital. Should any one singular region revolt in discontent, it could spell the death knell for The Storm as a whole. After all, what is a Kingdom when the King has nothing to rule?

The Principality of Dorne

In the last decade, Dorne has seen much tragedy and strife. A bloody war ignited in the Boneway, resulting in the deaths of many beloved men and leaving orphans and widows in its wake. Tensions run high between Princess Meria and King Arlan as their heirs clash, and their tensely agreed peace begins to fall apart. Fresh from ill-advised raids on each other's lands, the Marches burn slowly towards war, though neither is willing to break the peace set by the Faith. Amongst the houses in Dorne, plots and intrigue begin to rear their heads, and while Martell retains the loyalty of her vassals, the question of who will follow Meria is asked regularly.

The Dragonlords

The Freehold of Blackwater Bay and the Narrow Sea is in the midst of the fourth year of Aerion Targaryen's rule. This year saw the birth of Rhaenys Targaryen, the fourth of his children. The Freehold celebrated the wedding of Aemidon Velaryon and Delia Darklyn, further strengthening their ties to the Dusklands. As war looms in the Trident, a company of Targaryen men under Jaevar Targaryen played a central role in the siege and battles of Fairmarket. After capturing Lord Edmund Blackwood, Alec Paege, and Peach Paege, Jaevar made a number of enemies amongst the other riverlords by removing the Paeges' heads after their house's forces attacked the besieging army. With Lord Edmund dying in his tent during the chaos of the battle, the Targaryen mercenaries are in the thick of the dissolution of the Trident's stability and House Bracken's increasingly bloody attempts to hold onto power.

The Claw

The Claw has moved court to Hare Hall on the border to combat the invasion from the Celtigars, which they're starting to realize may not have been as much of a threat as first suspected. A diplomatic delegation has been sent to the Vale to try to gain their alliance and that of the Stormlands for use of their ships as the Brunes plan a retaliation for two centuries of abuses from the Valyrians. Tensions have steadily ratcheted up with the Dusklands, with a daughter previously offered to marry a Brune Prince instead being wed to Lord Velaryon, and the capture of a suspected Rosby spy in Dyre Den. Also there's a possibility that Houses Boggs and Crabb may have a small civil war over the infidelity of Lord Boggs' betrothed, Morgan Pyne.

Favourite New Character?

This has probably been done before but screw it, I usually only ever see people talk about pre S4 characters (fair enough they are amazing characters that created the show) but i see very little about the new characters other than Morgan and Dwight. Personally, i really like June and John and think their relationship is very pure. Althea being fixated on the tapes is at times quite annoying and unbearable. Grace so far seems quite meh. We will see what S6 does with her. And then Wendall and Sarah are just plain awful. Their cheesy awful jokes in my opinion genuinely contribute to the low quality of the new seasons. I hate them with a burning passion.

Props to Bob Odenkirk

Somehow, through his physical demeanour and ofc the hair stylists, he's able to convince me on some level that he is still younger than his BrBa self. The Saul Goodman we know there has this fat cat quality about him, where he just feels so middle-aged and apathetic because he's seen it all and is beyond giving a shit for the most part.

But in Better Call Saul, even to this day, Jimmy is still kind of excitable and energetic, and there's a world of difference between the two. I swear, Odenkirk could be 80 and he'd probs still be able to make me feel like he's somehow younger than he was on Breaking Bad.

so i just finished breaking bad and i'm wondering whether i should watch el camino or better call saul first

my plan was to watch the film straight after so i could carry on straight from where it left off, but then i realised better call saul came out before the film and i'm wondering whether the series will have things i need to watch in order to understand some of the film?

Man, "G" aka Guillermo would have made a great addition to the early crew

Funny and smart, but also had a good head on his shoulders with a heart and ethics taking care of the old people. He could have fit in nicely. I think most of us have seen the deleted scene of what happened to that group, but it would have been really cool if he somehow survived and ended up running into the gang down the road and become one of them. Very interesting character that deserved a little more time imo. Hell, he could have become a staple of the gang and then ended up being the one to get Lucile'd and we could have kept Glenn :(

thoughts? Good idea or nah?

Rick Grimes Movie #2 Fan-Made Synopsis

Hey guys! I wrote this on my Rick Grimes Movie #1 fan made synopsis, but I thought I might do it in a seperate thread, just to keep each thread focused on each individual movie. As I said in the last thread, I will write movie 3 is there is enough demand! Also, check out my first movie synopsis if you want an idea of who these characters I've made up are. This is simply how I would write the movies if I was in Gimple's position.

The film opens up with "Freedom Rider" by Traffic playing as the opening titles appear. It is then revealed that Groves is listening to this in his office while sitting there, looking furious over Rick's escape. He receives a call from Craddock, telling him that they are closing in on a small group of people that very well could be Rick, Jadis, Anne and Chase. He orders Craddock to pursue them, to which he and his men do. However, after catching this small group, it turns out to be Michonne, Aiden and Bailey, the survivors she met in her last episode. Michonne's group surrenders and are handcuffed by Craddock's men. However, once Michonne sees the CRM logo on a soldier's uniform, Michonne freaks out and demands to know where Rick is, causing Craddock to smile, seeing that she knows who Rick is.

Meanwhile, Rick, Jadis, Heath and Chase are flying away in a helicopter, heading towards Virginia when suddenly, they are attacked by another CRM helicopter, as one of Craddock's soldiers has caught up with them. They are forced to go in the other direction and make an emergency landing in Ohio. The damaged helicopter becomes surrounded by walkers. After wiping out the walkers, Chase tries to fix the helicopter, but it is broken beyond repair. Rick is flustered that they are now in the complete other direction of where they wanted to be. They find a car, hotwire it and decide to drive to Virginia, left with no other choice.

At the CRM headquarters, Craddock brings Michonne's group to Groves, where Michonne demands to know what he did to Rick. He explains what the CRM is and what they do and then essentially explains to her Rick's journey throughout the first film leading up to his escape, even his sexual relationship with Molly that unsettles Michonne. Michonne tells him that he has a daughter and a son back home and that she wants him returned to her, to which Groves smugly says Rick will return to her, but not alive. Groves also tries to get information out of Aiden and Bailey regarding their giant group of survivors, but they refuse to give him any details. He throws them in the same cell Jadis was locked up in and says when they decide to cooperate, they will seek freedom. Groves sends Craddock and his men back out on the search for Rick's group and says he will find out details on the survivor caravan himself.

Elsewhere, Rick's group continues to drive down the road and they all chit chat along the way. Chase opens up about his past, saying he was a helicopter pilot before the apocalypse and tells him about how he lost his wife and son and how he ended up working for the CRM. The car then runs out of gas and they are forced to go on foot until they find fuel. The group splits up to find fuel in two different directions; Rick and Heath go in one direction while Jadis and Chase go off in the other. Back at the CRM headquarters, Groves interrogates Michonne, Aiden and Bailey, demanding to know where their camp is located. He goes as far as to torture Aiden, showing how sadistic he is. When he threatens to rape Michonne, Bailey then gives up the location of their camp. Satisified, Groves sends Dr. O'Bannon to treat Aiden's wounds and throws them back in their cell. Groves allows Aiden and Bailey to leave, but Michonne must remain imprisoned.

As Rick's group splinter groups venture off to find fuel, Rick and Heath interact for a bit and Heath even asks about how Glenn died, to which Rick tells him how. This deeply saddens Heath and he says he hopes to see Tara again someday (Yeah... About that.) Elsewhere, Jadis and Chase find fuel at a gas station, but are both captured by two women, managing to send a radio message to Rick and Heath that they are being captured and give their location. Heath and Rick arrive at the gas station where they were captured and are able to track them to a large settlement. The settlement is called The Liberators and are led by a woman named Sally and it consists of thousands of survivors. It is revealed that this is the same group that Aiden and Bailey were a part of. While Rick and Heath are scouting it out, trying to rescue Jadis and Chase, they find themselves captured by Sally's men and interrogate them, believing them to be part of the CRM. However, Rick explains that they were held captive there and that he is looking for his family back in Virginia. Sally explains that her sister was captured by the CRM and the Liberators were working on building their numbers up and attacking the CRM to seek vengeance and retrieve her sister, along with the other members of their community who were taken by them. They manage to negotiate their way out and Sally allows them to join the Liberators. They have a giant tanker truck, showing they have all the fuel that they need, which is foreshadowing an event later in the film.

As Groves leaves with Aiden and Bailey to find their settlement, O'Bannon visits Michonne in her cell, telling her that he does not agree with Groves' methods of leadership and tells her all about his history with Groves; the last time Groves trusted somebody, he ended up betraying him and murdered his wife right in front of him. So consumed with rage, Groves refused to let his wife's killer die and wanted to make him suffer for what he did and knows that if Groves finds Rick, he will torture him the same way he did his wife's killer. He frees Michonne from her cell, gives her keys to a car and encourages her to go find Rick. It is revealed that he was eavesdropping on Aiden and Bailey as they gave detailed instructions to where the Liberators' settlement is. She thanks O'Bannon and escapes the CRM to continue her journey to find Rick. At the Liberators' settlement, Rick and Sally are talking, where Sally reveals her sister was Molly, which emotionally impacts Rick, but he refuses to tell her that he killed her. Elsewhere, Craddock's soldiers end up tracking Rick and the others at the Liberators' settlement, contacting Groves via radio that he may have found Rick. He orders him to take hostages and use them to get Rick, Jadis, Heath and Chase back if they are there. They set up camp and Craddock has some one-on-one time with one of his soldiers, Emmett and shares a drink with him. Craddock reveals his past to Emmett; he struggled with alcoholism pre-apocalypse that resulted in his wife and three daughters to leave him due to his aggressive change. One of the reasons he wants to kill Rick is because he is jealous and upset that he still has family that wants him back, while his doesn’t.

Out on the road, Michonne follows the instructions on the map that O'Bannon gave her and finds Groves, Aiden, Bailey and some CRM soldiers out heading for the Liberators' settlement. Michonne blends in with an incoming herd using the Whisperers tactic and once she gets close to the group, she attacks Groves, engaging in a fight with him and orders Aiden and Bailey to escape, which they do so. After an intense fight, the injured Groves manages to escape and Michonne ends up going in the other direction with Aiden and Bailey, rushing to get to the Liberators' settlement before Craddock's men do first. Craddock and his men do arrive and fire their guns in the air, demanding that they hand over Rick, Jadis, Heath and Anne, having captured seven of their people. He says all he wants is them back and he will let the rest of them stay where they are. Suddenly, the gunshots drew a giant herd into the area and they raid the settlement. Craddock orders his men to attack and they fight through inside to try and find Rick. As a shootout ensues, it draws more walkers into the area and Jadis decides to take matters into her own hands. She orders Rick to lead the Liberators out of the settlement and she will catch up later. Reluctant at first, Rick agrees to do so and leads the entire community out of the area while Jadis stays back with the herd. She draws the herd near the tanker truck and says goodbye to Rick through the walkie talkie. Rick is an emotional mess, begging Jadis not to do this, but Jadis encourages Rick to go get Michonne and shoots the tanker truck, exploding and destroying her, the settlement and the entire herd. Rick tries to run back to help Jadis, but Heath holds him back, saying they need to get out of there. Michonne, Aiden and Bailey find the settlement in ruins, but are able to track and see that many survivors got away on foot and they follow the tracks to where the survivors escaped.

As Rick is devastated over Jadis' death, he leads the group to a small town to regroup. They seek refuge in a giant building, where Rick bonds with members of the Liberators. They prepare for the incoming fight against Craddock's men, knowing that it is only a matter of time before they find them there. Back at the CRM, Groves confronts O'Bannon over Michonne's escape, having put the pieces together. O'Bannon tries denying it, but Groves says there is no use as he kills O'Bannon by disemboweling him. Back in the town, Rick's group set up fortifications around the town for when they arrive. Craddock and his men arrive and engage in a shootout in the center of town, where several of Craddock's soldiers are killed. As Craddock sees Rick on the balcony of another building, he leads five soldiers into that building to get him and Rick decides to face Craddock head-on. Inside the building, Rick and Benjamin, a Liberator, kill Craddock's men but then Benjamin is injured and gets lost. Rick then fights Craddock in a knife fight. After sustaining a beating, Rick succeeds in getting the upper hand and supposedly kills him. As for the rest of Craddock's men outside the building, Michonne, Aiden and Bailey arrive and help annihilate the rest of them. As Aiden and Bailey reunite with Sally and the group, the moment you all were waiting for is here: Rick exits the building and sees Michonne. The same song that played in Season 5 when Rick and Carl reunited with baby Judith, plays. They run into each other's arms, crying in tears of joy, kissing and hugging. The group then evacuates the area

The final scene in the film takes place that night. The injured Benjamin, revealed to have survived. He finds a walkie talkie and tries to contact Rick, but Craddock emerges, having survived his fight with Rick. He orders Benjamin to ask for their location and Chase is the one who answers and tells them. He also instructs Benjamin to tell them that Craddock is dead. After the call, Craddock kills Benjamin and storms off into the night after Rick’s group as the scene fades to black.
