TWD World Beyond - Best Fight Scene of any TWD show?

Hey everyone,

Spoilers ahead! (TL;DR at the end)

So i recently watched TWD WB and its finale. The series was okay up until that point and the plotline a bit questionable, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Felix VS Huck fight scene was one of the best 1v1 fights (using hand to hand tactics and CQB weapons) I think I have seen from the TWD universe.

Now there have been a few good 1v1 fights like Negan and Rick, Daryl and Alpha, Daryl and Beta etc. but those fights all fell short in a way (mainly nit-picking, but will talk about what I mean to make my case). We also have the plot armour which takes away from the genuine 'holy shit' factor of not knowing what will happen; this impacts the stakes and anxiety of the fight scenes mentioned here for sure.

Negan vs Rick fight; too much talking for it to feel like they actually wanted to kill one another? It also felt like there were too many pauses/breaks that felt unnatural (talking about the S8 fight where rick wields Lucille). While they were both fighting for survival and for their community, it felt more like a fight for themselves (i.e they were fighting for themselves and then, by extension, their communities). There's nothing wrong with this as per say but when you know at least one character has plot armour, it kind of takes away from the tension of that whole way of thinking about it.

Daryl vs Alpha fight; A good contender, but I feel as if some of the injuries were too severe to be survivable (at least Daryl's). Daryl was squirting blood after pulling that knife out which is akin to an artery being punctured? (correct me if I am wrong, I am not a doctor). Even at that, Daryl seemed to kick a shotgun from her hands in a way that didn't seem realistic? It looked like he kicked the metal of the barrel, full force, with his shin? Even if he did kick it with his boot (unless they are steel toes) he would still have been crippled from that. So I guess it took a stretch to believe that fight for me (but I am mainly nit-picking). The same plot armour issue played into this fight too. While I was slightly concerned for Daryl, I knew he wouldn't die.

Daryl vs Beta fight; first big thing was why did Daryl throw away that axe? Sure he sunk it into a Whisperer, but how many walkers have been killed with the weapon being taken back afterwards for further use? The fight itself was epic, but Daryl hiding the way he did seemed to be too quick for Beta not too notice (maybe it was the way it was cut)? Then, the survivability of that elevator shaft fall didn't seem too plausible either. Again the big Plot Armour issue comes in again but, that said, Beta wasn't even trying to kill Daryl (but rather beat him into submission to get information).

Negan vs Beta wasn't really a fight, so that gets skipped.

But Felix vs Huck? It was a joy to watch, it really was. Both characters wanted to kill one another for what they believed is a greater good with the added bonus that plot armour wasn't really a thing for either character. They were both main characters but not the main character (Hope), and so either could have died in the fight and for a good while there I thought one of them would have. While Felix was injured, it didn't hinder him more than it already was and this was realistic in my view (especially with the added bonus of the split). We also saw Felix avoiding the use of his injured leg and taking up protective stances around it to make sure Huck couldn't use his injury to her advantage; this was a nice touch. This fight lasted a while, didn't interject with random dialogue from the two fighting (and where they did speak, the fight was still happening), and both fighters seemed very similarly skilled which just added to the tension.

With the adding emotions on both sides, and the fact they were not fighting for themselves gave it a big picture feel which added to the stakes. Both characters were fighting for their greater good; rather than themselves (or even their communities).

Huck is fighting for (what I think) is not only her mother's love, but the bigger picture BS the CRM are 'fighting for'.

Felix is fighting for Hope's freedom, and the promise he made to a man that saved his life. He feels his life purpose being challenged in this moment. He is fighting for someone else without personal or community oriented goals.

That said, the only thing I didn't like was Hope and Iris running around playing "where's the gun" but for the fight scene itself; it was epic.

It reminded me of what I felt when I watched Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting during Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. I was younger and didn't have the scope to realize where that was going (which may have biased me when first watching it tension wise) but it reminded me of that fight. Especially the sword spear things that Felix and Huck use.

TL;DR -

i felt that Felix and Huck's fight was probably one of the most equal fights in the show where i genuinely feared for both characters' deaths. (no plot armour, no random dialogue that stops the fight, realistic injury handling, realistic depiction of emotions running very high during a conflict. Reminded me of Obi-Wan Vs Anakin.

Thoughts?
