Why are the cannibalism storylines so damn good?

Today I re-read Volume 11: Fear The Hunters and rewatched the Terminus episodes (5x1-5x3, and if you count 4x16 I watched that a few days back). I gotta say, The Walking Dead fucking rules when it comes to cannibals.

Terminus is a shocking reveal, leading to many suspenseful scenes and outstanding action sequences. We see how cautious our group has to be with people from now on, and what this world can do to them.

Fear The Hunters is a deep character study, exploring the many things these people have done and are willing to do, combined with the eerie atmosphere that builds the tension and show the bleakness of the situation.

And I couldn't forget to talk about the absolute best episode of the TellTale Games series, the second episode of Season 1, Starved For Help. A thrilling ride ride that makes you question whether or not you are truly doing the right thing.

And the best part of all of this? The cannibals aren't even the focus. They are simply a vehicle to help tell a dark tale of survival and despair. It's beautiful, really.
