[NO SPOILERS] Season 1 Episode 2 conversation between Ned and Robert
Season 1 Episode 2 Conversation between Ned and Robert
I know people are lukewarm about how it ended but I want to bring it back to the magic of how it started. Some of the best acting and directing happened during this sequence. We have Ned talking to Jon telling him we will talk about his mother the next time we meet. Scene cuts to Robert and Ned and talking about Neds honor. Meanwhile the whole time he’s having to forego his honor and lies to the King while talking about the Targaryens knowing that he has housed and raised the rightful true king the whole time. He can stop the lie once Jon takes the black but then and only then. The next scene cuts to the other threat that is the obvious Targaryen threat Daenarys. The magic of the books and show were on full display setting up something that long in advance. Sean Bean absolutely crushed that scene with his mannerisms and the attention to detail was great.
Felt like this needed a post and wanted to open up a discussion. What other moments at the beginning of the series are fun to watch knowing what we know at the end?

Andrea (Show) Discussion
Please don’t feel forced to read, I know it’s long ahah! Just a quick rant :)
I’ve been watching the show for years now and Andrea had always been an OG favourite of mine. She’s made some pretty... questionable decisions which make me understand why some people may not love her, and I can absolutely agree that her comic counterpart is a better character than her show counterpart. but I really don’t think she deserves as much hate as she gets, at all.
A main reason for people hating her is shooting Daryl, but I mean... come on? Is that really something hate-worthy? She saw him, muddy and bloody with ears as a necklace walking like a Walker. Although she was told not to shoot, she didn’t want to take any risks, and so she shoots what she believes is a Walker to protect the group. She had good intentions in doing this, And if Daryl can forgive her why can’t viewers?
Another thing she does to earn some dislike is her attitude towards Dale after 1x06. I wish she had been a bit more understanding at first too, but her feelings were justified. She had just watched several people die horrible deaths, including her own sister. She felt she had nothing to live for, and Dale took that away by forcing her hand. She’s bound to be angry about that; she clearly didn’t feel up to fighting anymore, and didn’t want to be a burden on the group by not wanting to live, but Dale took that away from her. Eventually she does forgive him, and they become very close again, but I really think her feelings were justified, although she was a bit too harsh.
Now, the Governor thing.. yeah, not her best moment. But look at it from her shoes, she had been out for 8 months, barely surviving, and all of a sudden she finds this safe-haven. A chance to live, not just survive ( after overcoming her past feelings of suicide, she was obviously going to fall in love with the place. ) a man, with no reason to at all, takes her in and offers care and safety, and in the world she lives in that’s not often offered to you. The people there, including Merle who she trusted, vouched for the place, and for Philip, so she had no reason to doubt. Then the man, who (in andrea’s eyes) saved her and michonne in their hour of need, shows a stronger interest in her and keeping her safe, and his undeniable charm catches her eyes (the gov was smart, he knew how to use Andrea’s vulnerability after being out for so long to his advantage, she was in over her head no doubt). People also fail to see that we as viewers know much more than the characters, and all characters don’t know the same things. So although Rick’s group might know about the Maggie/Glenn situation, Andrea didn’t and was never told straight up about it (not at the prison, or by hershel). People were extremely vague to her about his actions, they never told her in full “yeah, he was sexually harassing Maggie@, “Yeah, the Governor isn’t interested in anything other than killing your old group” Andrea was naive, not evil. She would’ve heard that and ran, which is precisely what she does after a chat with Milton, the first chat in which she’s FINALLY told the upfront truth.
I can’t really justify her essentially choosing Woodbury over Michonne cause I wish she hadn’t either, but so many characters have made un-justifiable mistakes and are still loved. And people also fail to see her moments of glory, like:
•Giving up her seat for Lori and beth without hesitation on the farm.
•Very nearly dying saving Carol’s life.
•Wanting to kill Phillip (the second time), but being stopped by Milton before she could.
•Ultimately dying trying her hardest to save / warn Rick of Phillip’s intentions towards the group and Michonne.
•Being an absolute badass when the occasion calls for it ( 2x13, 3x14 ).
•Trying to save Rick’s group, and the innocent people of Woodbury, from a war by trying to create peace.
She might’ve been a bit naive, and she made quite a few mistakes in her run, but she also made many selfless, beautiful decisions. If her peace treaty had worked, she’d be considered a hero, and it’s a damn shame people don’t look at her more positive moments on the show. I really wish they’d have scrapped her stupid, completely off-character death and continue with the character progression we saw on the farm and in her last few episodes, she deserved better than what she got.

A lot of people hate TWD for no reason, it still appeals to me a lot I might call myself a fanboy even if I hate the term So I'm Romanian and I've started the show in November and finished it almost twenty days ago and ohh boy it was a beautiful thing. And tomorrow is the big day, and in Romania we have AMC but it doesn't air the same things like in US and I'm really itching to see it at 4 am when it airs for the first time. Does anyone knows a way I can do it ? A site or something like that? I'll be really thankful

A theory I read
Currently I’m staying in hawaii, and a while back I read a theory on what happened to the U.S. military (or rather must the navy) in the walking dead, and someone said they were settled in hawaii. While I explored and saw How densely populated the islands are it may seem like an excellent hideout for the troops. All other troops on the mainland would eventually make there way to the east coast take some sea craft or aircraft and reach the islands and clear out all the walkers, and gather survivors. Eventually they would build their own governed community just like the CRM maybe even build more. I would say this would be a perfect place for survivors, no cold winters, hot sunshine, plenty of plant and animal life for farming and massive protection form outside the islands

[SPOILERS] This Show is Tatters
Finished this show a couple weeks ago. Now to begin, I just want to say how much of a disappointment the ending was. Not just the ending, as in the last episode, but the the entire season. It’s tone was undeniably different to the previous seasons, nothing made sense, everyone was doing illogical things and things that should never have happened, happened. One of Daenery’s dragons getting shot down. Wtf? Was she not prepared, did she have no tactical way to go about it?
I felt the show began to go downhill after season 5 let’s say, season 1-4 were the very best seasons and by far the strongest. I like to rewatch shows a couple months/years after I finish them, but this show I’ll never rewatch simply because the ending isn’t satisfying and you get nothing from sticking with it for a solid 8 seasons.
I hated—absolutely loathed—that Jaime and Cersei got a ‘happy’ ending, in the sense that they didn’t have to suffer, they got to be together, and they had a little stupid soppy heart to heart before dying. I was expecting an ENDING scene. Something that you could rewatch and be like ‘damn, that’s sick.’ Their death scene was lame and such a shit way to end two important and well-written characters.
Cersei seemed to crumble all of a sudden, and suddenly forgot how evil she was? What?
Don’t even get me started on that god awful, cringe and utter garbage scene with Bran and the whole ‘gang.’ What the hell was going on there? It seemed to become a comedy in that moment, completely destroying the dark aspect of the show.
I love how the The Night King was killed by Arya simply because she was there at the right time and right place, no big showdown, no crazy fight scene where multiple main characters die because, to be fair, that’s what would’ve happened in real life. They’ve waited months/years for this moment, and it’s over in a few minutes. What the hell were we waiting for then?
Then Daenerys goes batshit and burns an entire city down. Then she dies. I swear Jon Snow backed her up the entire time? Then he just drives a sword through her?
Not to forget the depravity of multiple incestuous relationships.
I had to spend time thinking about this show and what the absolute hell they did to it. It’s a nightmare. No wonder the very last episode got a 4/10 on IMDb. I haven’t seen a single show with such a low-rated and let down of a final episode. Take Breaking Bad for example; they nailed the entire show down to the very last minute.
I also hate the arrogance of the airhead writers, acting like they did what had to be done and that they’re not apologetic about it in the slightest. I swear, a show with this much viewership and popularity (probably the most popular show in the world), should 100% deserve a second chance or a shot at a re-film. Something that scraps the entire last season (or at least last few episodes) out the window and makes it brand new.
It’ll obviously never happen, but one can dream. I did not watch the show in real time, but I can only imagine the pain of the viewers that followed the show for the full 8 years it aired.
My rant is over. There are a hundred different things I wanted to address, but I honestly don’t have the energy in me to drivel any more. P.S. why the hell did the actors change for Daario (guy went from fkn blonde to full brunette), Dickon Tarly (that was embarrassing), and The Mountain, of course. Could they not just get reliable actors that would be able to stay for the course of the show? It was cheap to change actors, especially with drastically different faces.

[SPOILERS] What do you think was the worst case of Incest in Game Of Thrones
Tywin Lannister married his first cousin Joanna Lannister which is still disgusting but I wouldn’t say is the worst out of all them and everyone knows how close Jaime and Cersei were, I’d say they’re definitely up there. Jon Snow and Daenerys was, let’s just say highly peculiar and I’m pretty sure they were both consciously participating in this inbred relationship. The last one I’m gonna talk about is Craster which I think by far is the most wretched out of them all not only did he pretty much force his daughters to marry him he also mated with them to produce more daughters/granddaughters for the same practice. But to sum it all up into a few words, Craster in my opinion is the most incestuous. There’s probably some more that I didn’t list but were mentioned in books but I didn’t read them yet because I want to watch the show first.

There is one thing about season 10 I am EXTREMELY disappointed about.
The fact that we had an INSANE subplot on our hands with Dante. The whole idea that some of the residents of the 3 communities could be whisperers is absolutely genius and would have made such a good plot. Especially since the genre Kang said she was going for was Cold War. I find some of the episodes 1-7 were fairly boring and it’s a fucking SHAME Dante was the only fake resident. Luke’s girlfriend would have been genius. It could have happened in episode 8 while Siddiqs death was fresh. Let’s be honest Luke has done nothing in 10B.

This has got to be the stupidest thing ever. Castles are military targets how is dany supposed to win this war with minimal casualties on her side if she can’t attack castles with her dragon. Unpopular opinion: I like Negan as a character but not as a villain
I only started liking him in S9 and I know you could make the argument that well he's a villain where as in season 9 he's trying to change into a better person so your going to like a good guy more than a bad guy. Well the thing is that Shane and the Governor were 2 of my favourite characters on the show and both of them were villains so just because Negan was a villain shouldn't mean that I dislike him completely but I just wasn't a fan of him in the All Out War part of the show.
Then comes S9 and S10 and I realised that he became a much better character when he turned into a good-ish character than when he was a villain.

The Walking Dead Video Bomb Discovered
In The Walking Dead, season 8, episode 1, at around 11:30 into the episode, right after Carl meets the starving eastern guy begging for food at the gas station, it shows Rick about to go kill a walker, and the scene moves on to the next. But a split second right before the scene changes, you can see a door open right behind Rick at the gas station. I would provide a picture or something, but I am unable at this time. Anyhow, said door opens behind him, and I'm 100% positive that this wasn't on purpose. I think it's a whole nother "walker drinking from a water bottle in season 1" or a "Starbucks coffee cup caught on camera in Game if Thrones" type thing. It wasn't supposed to be there, and I'm pretty sure I'm the first to discover this. Nothing as serious as the "water bottle walker", but I still found it interesting nonetheless. Take your time to go back to the time I mentioned above to see for yourself. 📸

The walking dead season 9
I just didn’t like it, the whisperers are a cool concept but alpha just doesn’t hit that mark for me,
I thought this would be a popular opinion but to my surprise people say season 9 is the best one in a while,
I personally don’t get it, the time skip is my least favorite event in the whole show Maggie is just gone no explanation, and tara enid henry dead on the pikes just annoyed me tbh,
Personally i think seasons 6 to 8 are my favorite but whatever,
So what do you people like about season 9?

[SPOILERS] Did Viserys Targaryen deserve what he got?
He was horrible towards Dany what with all the threatening and stuff but watching the show I just can't help feeling a little sorry for him. I mean, if you think from his perspective all he wanted was what he was promised. Instead he got killed. Quite painfully I might add. Am I missing something here? What are your thoughts on this?

Rick’s last episode
I just rewatched Rick’s last episode. I have a few thoughts. I don’t frequent this sub too often, usually after episode airs for discussion, so forgive me if this has been talked about over and over.
First of all, wasn’t there a way for them to stop this herd while also saving Rick? Why did it happen this way (other than Andrew Lincoln wanting to leave)? And why did Rick say “I found em” before he shot the dynamite?
Second.... there’s no way he would’ve survived that. It’s impossible, right?
Third.... what’s an A versus B? Why was Gabriel a B and Rick is an A?
Lastly, seeing Darryl’s face when the bridge was blown up was heart wrenching. Truly one of the saddest moments on TWD for me honestly. Wow. It pains me to know that they all believe Rick is dead/don’t know what happened to him. It would be amazing to have them find him. But also at this point, how would he come back? It’s been years and years. There’s really not a plausible way Rick would be able to return to the show even though I really wish he would. Unless you guys have ideas...

Maggie season 3
Back again, to note something that i dislike.
Dont get me wrong, the show so far is pretty good, but theres a bunch of inconsistencies.
The part where Glenn and Maggie get kidnapped, after Glenn defeated the walker that Meryl send to him.
Maggie could've easily said "5, We lost alot to take it over."
Now that the governor knows she said 10, and if he takes her by her word.
He would likely send a bigger group, tell me if i could be wrong, i'd like to hear opinions.

So, along with ‘You’re gonna miss me so bad when I’m gone, Daryl Dixon’ I realized she had another prediction line in S2 Ep 10.

Why don't characters kill people who are being eaten alive by walkers?
If I were in the Walking Dead and was about to die, I'd wish for whoever I was travelling with to shoot me/stab me in the head or something so I wouldn't have to suffer getting ripped to shreds by zombies. Why don't characters do this? For example, in Season 6 when one of the Alexandrians falls down from the fence he and Michonne were climbing, they just let the walkers continue feeding while he's still conscious.

[SPOILERS] S8 Questions
As bad as people said season 8 was, I never believed them. Having seen it, I’m extremely disappointed in so many things. What was the point of Jon being a Targaryen? Lord Varys sent out ravens spreading word about Jon’s true identity that apparently never got anywhere. They made a huge deal about him being the “rightful heir” and he was never even considered.
Also, why couldn’t Jon just simply leave Castle Black and right down to Winterfell upon arival? The north is an independent kingdom, who would stop him? There were so many issues I had with this season, I don’t even know where to start. If somebody could explain the king thing though I would appreciate it.

List of Shane callbacks
•Season 3 has several callbacks: like Daryl calling Rick "Mini Shane" and Andrea asking what happened to him
•In season 4, Carl says "Shane taught me, remember him?" after tying a special knot. Rick replies "Yeah I remember him. I remember him every day."
•Rick tells Michknne about Shane in season 7 and reveals that Judith is Shane's biological daughter
Are there any more callbacks? I can't seem to remember and would love if anyone else does.

I've been enjoying the past couple seasons (9/10) just as much as some of the earlier seasons. I think they've gone a great job with the main and secondary characters. It is absolutely criminal to me that she did not win any awards for her performance in that show. Heaps of nominations, like zero wins.

[SPOILERS] Why did Ned keep Jon Snow's parentage a secret from Catalyn?
Just finished the series (& haven't read the books fwiw) and I can't figure this out. Their relationship was portrayed as very modern with her input being valued and respected throughout. If he'd told her the truth, Jon Snow's entire life would've improved tenfold as well as Ned's own marriage. Catalyn would know that her husband hadn't cheated and wouldn't resent a child she would be raising.
I can only think of a few explanations:
- He didn't trust her (she does have a temper - holding tyrion as hostage, letting jaime go without talking to robb, etc - maybe she'd tell Robert in anger?)
- This plot point wasn't planned at the start of the show?
Would love to hear what you guys think or if I'm missing something obvious.

The Governor was looking to cure his Daughter
The Governor kept Penny, his daughter, locked up in a room afte she turned. We logically can presume that he thought there was his little girl somewhere in there, inside the husk. Like Hershel with his family a neighbors, he put them away in the barn, to keep them safe until a cure was made and distributed. That’s why Melton (Gov’s science guy) was experimenting with the dead and the dying, to confirm if there is something that remains after death, and if it can be brought to the surface (as we see with the cancer patient at Woodbury). That is why when Michone puts Penny down as a walker, Gov looses it: he truely believes that Michone killed her just to hurt him. we see a very similar reaction in Hershel and Beth when Shane opened up the barn. And with his only tie to the world, the only person he cared about, now without a doubt dead, he has no reason to live, to protect anyone else, thus he goes on a scuicide crusade to kill Michone and everyone between him and her.

The more I look back on this scene, the more I appreciate it and realize Tyreese might be the strongest character out of the cast in terms of emotions. His willingness to forgive was admirable!

[NO SPOILERS] are the books different than the show?
I’ve recently got into the game of thrones show, and it’s absolutely fantastic, I’m about halfway through season 6 now (please no spoilers) but I was curious if the books are the same as the show or different enough that they’d be worth the read. I’m definitely a reader, but I just never actually thought to give the series a try honestly. Would people recommend? I don’t wanna bother putting in so much time into reading it if they are basically mirrors of each other if that makes sense.

Rewatching the earlier seasons has REALLY tainted my opinion of [SPOILER]
Carl's death.
The particular scenes that I'm thinking of are Rick's iconic "no more kid's stuff" speech, and Lori's final speech to Carl: "You are going to beat this world I know it!".
It was so obvious that they were setting this show up to be Carl's show. He will be the last man standing. Yet, he didn't beat this world. He was cut from the show to save fucking money (allegedly, but even if not it was a stupid decision).
A show that could've been one for the ages in a few years just... completely ruined through utterly amateur decision making. I was somewhat OK with it when it actually happened, but a rewatch has put such a sour taste in my mouth.

[Spoilers] Rewatching and I'm mad
I was rewatching the series and MAN I'M SO MAD that the Wall was so completely useless against the White Walkers. They built it and for 8,000 or whatever years there were ZERO attacks on the Wall and the one time the White Walkers finally try to break through it they do so without so much as a sweat. I just can't believe that the Wall stood for that long only to just be rendered useless in the span of less than a minute. Thanks D&D

[SPOILERS] I just realized something in season 8 episode 3 “The Battle of Winterfell”
Tell me if I’m off base or if you already knew this.
But half way through the episode when Jon falls of the dragon and goes for the night king, he raises more of the dead. Jon is now surrounded. He is saved by Dany on Drogon who blasts fire. She wasn’t afraid to hurt Jon because he told her he was actually a Targaryen at the end of the prior episode! Aren’t Targaryens immune to fire? I think in this moment she came to accept that he was truly a Targaryen and would compete for the throne.

Rick Movie loosing Hype?
I mean damn it’s been like what 2 and a half years? Or close too it maybe. I get COVID kinda messed some things up, but I feel like they could have started filming a while ago. By the time COVID happened they had a lot of time to write the script, and were given even more time when it happened. But most shows and movies started filming in like August, some even before that. It just feels like there being lazy as hell. I think Andrew Lincoln said they’d probably start filming in spring or summer. But to me it feels like they probably could have started a lot earlier before then, but I don’t work in Hollywood so what the hell do I know? I’m just pissed because it’s gonna be months before they can even start filming, then more months to get actual footage like a trailer, then like 6 more months for the movie to finally be released. Just Damn...

[NO SPOILERS] A World of Ice and Fire RP: A Collaborative A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying Subreddit
AWOIAFRP is a role-playing game set in George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe. Complete with its own player written lore and storylines, AWOIAFRP allows players to create and take complete control of a Great House and its members.
Our current iteration is as follows: The Dance of the Dragons ended with the victory of Rhaenyra, and the survival of her Velaryon offspring, Jacaerys. Daeron the Daring fled Westeros alongside Tessarion after the Battle of Tumbleton, landing in Lys. While Westeros struggled to mend its old wounds, restore relations and brave the coming storms, the Targaryens of the East fought war after war in Essos, reforging the Triarchy with the power of a dragon.
Having Andalised the Free Cities considerably, they now rule as Kings, looking for the right moment to strike and reclaim their birthright, while the tensions in the Seven Kingdoms continue to increase. With the death of Maelor the Tenacious, Westeros is left in the hands of a fifteen year old King ruled by a regency council of five. Similarly, Aegon, the Prince Protector of Lys and King of the Triarchy, has perished in the war against Braavos.
Now, the two Realms bate their breaths, as the Velaryon and Targaryen heirs take their rightful seats on the thrones of their precursors. The Seahorse and the Dragon prepare for one final showdown, the War that'll decide the fate of more than a single continent.

Godless (Netflix limited series) was amazing.
Just finished watching it because I was looking for a western and thoroughly impressed.
First of all, the location and cinematography is absolutely gorgeous. I actually upgraded to 4K just to watch some of the scenes. Absolutely stunning.
Secondly Jeff Daniels plays antagonist very well. He plays Frank Griffin who leads a group of outlaws looking for one of their own, Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell) who Frank considered a son. Roy stole from Frank and the gang and holes up in La Belle.
La Belle is a down-and-out former mining town struck by tragedy when the men died in a mining accident. The town is run by the widows looking to get the mine back up and running.
It runs for 7 episodes and definitely worth a watch if you're into Westerns.

The Whisperer Theory
Okay I Have a theory about the whisperers and thats they have been around the group before and caused a lot of walker attacks. Number 1 reason although it could just be poor makeup, in several episodes with large hordes especially in early s9 and late s8 you can see walkers wearing what looks like masks, could these have been whisperers? Number 2. In S5 when Eugene reveals he isn't a scientist and also in s4 the large hordes look like they are being led and are packed tight together like the whisperers do. Number 3. Back in S4 The Governor, Mike and Pete saw a small camp, but mike didn't want to raid it frustrating The Gov and Pete, they later went back to it and saw it was raided quietly, almost like a whisperer attack. We never got confirmation on who did it some say it was Joes Group but I feel that just wasn't possible as they would have made a lot more noise and wouldn't have risked going near another group. And that is The Whisperer Theory Feel free to add more to it, and hope you enjoyed it :D

Glenn and Maggie
So I’m watching the show for the second time (I watched it years ago but stopped after season 3 because it was making me depressed and sad lol 😂) and I’m on season 4, obviously for the first time. I literally just came on here to say that I would die for Glenn and Maggie and they are one of the best, most genuine relationships I’ve ever seen on TV, and before y’all come here to warn me, yes, I know the spoilers and am devastated 😞
Anyways, Gleggie supremacists, please rise and share my pain. I love them sm and I’m scared to get to season 7 for obvious reasons. Is it worth it to keep going with this show? I’m obviously not watching just for Glenn and Maggie but I’m scared this show is going to break my heart beyond repair. I’m so invested and cry over every sad thing, and I’m only starting season 4 😩 Idk if I can take the emotional turmoil for like 7 more seasons 😭
Also pls send gleggie gifs for life support purposes, ty x

Shane was a dick
Ok, so don't get me wrong here. Shane was a good guy in a way, but only for a few moments. Almost the entire time he was aired, he was a huge dick.
He fought Rick multiple times over a married women (which I can understand thinking your husbands dead and just wanting to fuck someone) but when Rick came back and Shane still practicly claimed Rick's family, that was a "Fuck you" at it's best.
I mean, come on man! The man just reunited with his wife and son and your over here trying to force her to have sex with you?! That's just wrong man.
So, if Rick had not killed him that night, would Shane still be alive? I think not. My theory is that once the walkers came, Shane would have had to face Carl, who would have most certainly told everyone else. That is, what if Shane left everyone behind and took Carl? The group would have either started a manhunt for the both of them, or move on.
The two of them would have probably found terminas and wound up dead in my opinion. Or maybe the group would have searched for them there and died? Who knows!

What do you guys think about a new group introduced in season 10C ? (sneak peak spoilers)
Hey guys, just wanted to ask what do you think about a new group named "Reapers" that Maggie mentioned in the Sneak Peak? From what I heard from her and some leaks, they apparently attacked Georgie's community and Maggie with some of her people had to escape, which means that the "Reapers" aren't very small group and I would say they can even be the size of the Wolves or bigger. What do you think about them? Do you think they will appear in Season 11 and they will be a small, new group or something completely different in general? I personally really like them, even tho we didn't see tem. They sound like a better version of the Wolves and I hope they stick for some episodes.
PS. Don't talk about the comic that much, I know they get to the Commonwealth and that there is no villain left in the story or no group such as Reapers, but they can always change things around.

Why do people hate the show so much?
Why do people hate the show so much for taking different steps from the comics? I constantly see hate for how the show strays away from the comics but I don't see the problem. Now maybe I'm not mad cuz I seen the show before reading the comics but I don't understand the hate. Yeah the comics are amazing but the show does certain things alot better. The show does Shane, the cannibals, the scavengers, Glenn, Maggie, Hershel, the Whisperers, Judith, Michonne, Ezekiel, and many more things and characters I'm not gonna name so this doesn't go on for almost half a hour. Now like I said perhaps its cuz I watched the show first and binged it and that's why I don't hate the show that much and I'm not annoyed with how the all out war arc went on as long as it did but I just don't get the hate the show gets. I appreciate the fact that the show strays from the comics in certain areas cuz like I already said there is many things the show does better. And let's be honest, seeing the show be exactly like the comics in every way would be boring, and this is coming from someone who when first started reading the comics wished we had the show be exactly like the comics. I do hope maybe in a few years after the show has ended we could get HBO or something to remake the show and have it play out exactly like the comics so we can experience everything from the comics on TV, but that'll be very unlikely. Okay I'm getting a bit off topic so I'll get back on topic. In the end I (and hopefully many others) really appreciate we get two complete different versions of The Walking Dead that follow the same concept in main story arcs but not being that similar to each other.

Anyone still watching "Mr. Mayor"? The cast has really begun to gel.
Bobby Moynihan's character started off as a bit of a joke, but has really blossomed into one hell of a role. I'm worried after the rather lukewarm first episodes or so turned people off of the show-- but I would highly suggest catching up and giving it another shot.

[SPOILERS] Ending of GoT Series should've have some time-warping
Hi guys, first post here on GoT subreddit. I don't know if anyone's brought this up before, but I feel like the ending of GoT should have incorporated more of the muddy timeline dissonance that is shown by the Hodor episode and Aemon Targaryen's death.
To refresh your memory on the latter, Aemon is in his death bed, presumably hallucinating or having flashbacks of his childhood with his brother, Aegon, who he called "Egg."
"Egg! I dreamed that I was old." I believe were his final words.
Something about this and the Hodor episode really stuck with me, that there is something deeper and more mystical about the whole series. As we ramped up to Season 7, I was convinced that the ending would have something to do with more time-travel/warping. For him to have dreamed that he was old, when he was infact young, is very similar to Hodor having gone into the future and "holding that door". I really wished the show would have looped around and ended with something like this.
I apologize for not having constructed a full on detailed ending as I would see fit with these ideas, but looking to see if anyone else has considered or thought about this! Like some kind of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ending where everyone was like WHOA!

Easter Eggs and Possible Wildfire causes.
I was looking around trying to find cool Easter eggs in the show. I stumbled upon a post claiming they found Cuthulu.
And that got me thinking...
Of what little I know of the Cuthulu mythos, the members of his cult worked to wake him from his slumber at the bottom of the sea, and those who would see or hear his name would go mad.
What if the cause of Wildfire was cosmic horror in nature? Dr. Jenner states himself that he has no idea what it is, where it came from, or how to stop it. He himself even toys around with the idea that it may be divine in nature, an act of God.
Surly though, no God that I know would do anything like this... perhaps it is caused by one of the Old Gods of cosmic horror?

The responses to my last post made it clear that many of you need a crash course in how consent works, or rather, how it DOESN’T WORK, so let’s review a few examples of moments in The Walking Dead where people physically violate others without their consent:
-
In season 1 episode 6 Shane corners Lori and shoved her against a wall then proceeds to attempt to force himself onto her while she does literally nothing but protest his advances, to the point of her having scratch to get him off. This is what we call an attempted rape, not “trying to get her to see his perspective.” That is the kind of excuse that rapists use when they can’t accept that they violated a person’s boundaries.
-
Negan enslaved people, then forces them to work in terrible conditions under the constant threat of death, with the caveat that if they are struggling too much (such as Sherry who needed medicine for her sister that she couldn’t afford under her assigned job) they have the “option” to sell themselves into being his sex slaves. This is what’s known as an abuse of power, Negan is in a position of authority that inherently makes any sexual relationships between his subjects non-consensual, therefore he is raping them, the same way that American slave-owners used to rape their slaves EVEN IF THOSE SLAVES “consented” YOU LITERALLY CANNOT CONSENT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS ENSLAVED YOU.
Hope this post was informative for those of you who apparently don’t understand how consent works!

I'm watching TWD marathon on AMC. I'm up to season 7. There is so much stuff I have forgotten over the years. These first 7 seasons have some excellent writing and acting.
I kinda forgot how big of an asshole Negan and the Saviors were. I don't give a damn what/who Negan is now, there is no way in hell they should forgive that dude. Granted Rick and his crew didn't care about mowing people down. But their actions seemed to be more about survival and defending themselves. Negan and the Saviors were just sadistic, bullying, thieving douchbags. Now Negan and Dwight are all forgiven and semi-accepted members of their society.

Enid: bad actress? Or badly written?
So I’m in the middle of season 6 (my first time watching the show), and I’m finding the believability of Enid’s performance all over the place. In the episode that filled in more of her backstory, I thought the actress performed beautifully. Like the scene where she’s crying in the car after her parents get eaten. Or where she’s just wandering the woods alone, hiding from walkers and looking terrified. Good stuff, emotional, believable. But I’m the sappy teen romance scenes with Carl - I suddenly feel like I’m watching some low rate CW show. But I can’t tell if that’s more because of the writing, since it IS supposed to be silly little teenage dramz happening between them? And then also, whenever the show asks us to buy that Enid is a badass who can go off into the woods alone for long stretches of time - nope. I don’t buy for a second that this character is physically strong or mentally resourceful enough to handle herself out there on her own. She’s no Michonne. She’s no Glenn. She’s not even Tara. Like, by a billion light years. Hell, Enid even seems like she’d be one of the weaker links in a group scenario! But so, is it that the Enid actress is just kinda lame and lightweight? Or is it that the show is silly for asking us to believe that a teenage twerp with so much less experience than our core group could fend for herself alone? Both/and?

[No Spoilers] In Defense of David & Dan
They didn't necessarily agree to write entire new seasons of the show. They agreed to adapt an existing story and (wrongly) assumed it would be complete by the time they were near finishing. While they probably should not have assumed this would be the case, it is somewhat reasonable to expect the author to have completed the story if he claimed he would.
They adapted the story very well, especially with one of them being something of a newcomer. What they didn't do well was writing based on their own pure storytelling skills once the material ran dry.
The second huge mistake they made was allowing George to retreat from the show. They should have listened to his advice more and kept him attached, but instead I think they found their heads a bit too far up their own bum.
We really ought to be laying the blame on the trio.

[SPOILERS] Northerners are better fighters
I’ve noticed rewatching this for the third time, all the northerners destroy the southern “summer” knights. You think it was just those certain scenes to appease the fans or maybe there’s some realism to that given their climate they live in. Yoran took out I think maybe 6 guys before they finally got him lol. Jaime seems to be the only badass southern knight.

Did Andrea Betray the group?
Anybody else feel disgusted when Andrea drew her weapon on Michonne while she was just seconds away from killing the governor? After finding out that the Governor had Mags and Glenn tortured, sent Meryl to kill Michonne simply for leaving Woodbury, kept heads of walkers in fishtanks, attacked the prison, stringing up walkers for town festivities, and tried to make Meryl and Daryl fight to the death you would think she got the picture. I mean if that’s not enough signs to tell this guy had some real demons idk what is. What about when she regrouped with Rick and the others at the prison and decidedly go back to Woodbury?
After spending 7 or 8 months on the road with Michonne she did in fact choose a man she knew for less than a week over a friend. Given the comics, this is not what I expected of her character in the show and I must say, I didn’t like it one bit.

[SPOILERS] Why the end of the TV show makes narrative sense... in the context of the books
The last season, understandably, is controversial. I just watched it and really liked it. Fans of the TV series who had seen the TV series first and been following since day 1 of the show.... didn't.
Here's where there's a disconnect:
The final season of the show probably felt the truest to the books in spirit compared to any part of the previous seasons. This is a controversial claim, so let me spend some time defending this thesis. George R.R. Martin wrote/writes the books in such a way as to throw us for a loop about the arc of each character - characters disappear and then reappear with personalities we didn't expect. Sudden changes in the context of the setting lead to sudden changes in character behavior. A Feast for Crows shows Jon going from generic fantasy hero and loyal soldier to a potentially stone-faced administrator with a cynically pragmatic view of both workplace and kingdom-wide politics. A Dance With Dragons shows hints that Daenerys might not have a full grip on the power she commands, and ends up revealing a few cracks in her armor - her portrayal at the end of the TV series is one possible outcome of that narrative.
Here is the problem, such as it is, with the TV series conclusion: it is very obvious that Benioff & Weiss, from early on, did not want to do the version of the show that we got (and that was ultimately popular with fans) - the story of the unaired pilot (I'm still salty the performance by Corvus Corax never made it into the final version, but I digress) is very revealing as to this objective. Now, one of the biggest changes in the show is this: the speed at which characters change and progress, and how radical vs. moderate those changes are.
Plenty of TV viewers saw certain elements from the book as shocking revelations when they appeared on screen: Ned's death. Joffrey's death. Ramsay Bolton's gruesome torture of Theon - but all in all, the TV series, when it came to actual changes in characterization, went for a more moderate approach to changes in characterization that was much slower than in the books, in which fewer events were calculated to completely shift our understanding of who a character is, where they're coming from, and what they want. Part of the appeal of the books, to readers, lies in how any sudden event can change a character (and our perception of them) entirely.
So, when we get to season 8 of Game of Thrones, the TV show, Benioff and Weiss finally get the chance to take the kind of narrative approach that would seem natural to fans of the book all along: shift the audience perspective of who a character is with a sudden, shocking change that might make some sense if you go back and read the previous chapters, but that still does not take place in quite as incremental and conservative an approach as the TV series went with prior. TV viewers did not take well to this change, but both the context building up to the conclusion and the way our perspectives are challenged to shift would make sense if the show carried the same narrative context and approach to characterization as the ASOIAF books.

Share your fav TWD cast interviews
Hi,
This is my first post on here.
Does anyone have interviews with one of the cast or a whole bunch of them that they feel others should see? Either because it’s funny, strange, informative, etc.
I figure Reddit would be a good source for this, as I am sure people have different YouTube TWD videos that they felt were worth saving in playlists or anything. Share those if you can.
I’ll start with a couple that I bothered to save in my TWD playlist:
ANDREW LINCOLN (RICK GRIMES) IN HIS LAST INTERVIEW FOR TALKING DEAD - Part 1
URL: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UNNcfeRvfR4&list=PLTuCSdEFjJcfIe5xlhNM75YlB05oM9lqC&index=2&t=8s
and

URL: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zwDon3cPN3E&list=PLTuCSdEFjJcfIe5xlhNM75YlB05oM9lqC&index=3
I have seen many more than these ones I listed, but I haven’t saved any others. YouTube/the internet is chalk full of them!!
—Thanks for any suggestions. Nothing is really off limits. As long as it’s TWD (main series) and has any of the cast in it. Thank you!
