Richard D Grimes
I dunno if this has been discussed before but does anybody else think It would’ve been so freaking awesome if they never revealed Rick was alive at the end of 9x05? I feel like it would’ve been so cool to let fans think he was truly gone just for him to pop up at the end of season 11. The suspense and desperation to know would’ve been so good but so annoying at the same time.

The Walking Dead Open World Game
i am really really shocked there isn’t an open world game for the walking dead. the telltale series was really fun but i’m talking about an open world like in GTA, but gameplay like The Last Of Us or Days Gone. i know Overkill was gonna make a game and from the trailer i watched the game looked incredible! it’s a shame it got cancelled, but if that wasn’t gonna happen then maybe another studio should give it a shot

What are some TWD takes/perceptions you're sick of seeing?
The one I dislike the most usually goes along the following:
"All the TWD is to find a group of survivors, build a shelter/communit, have community destroyed, fight zombies, and JUST rince and repeat."
While I understand and can respect this criticism of describing the series, I think it is greatly exaggerated. Yes, the series does this, but only really like twice majority (The Prison and then Alexandria) and in the meantime thoughtfully crafts a serialized post-apocalyptic, zombie series all throughout to me.
I think this view is especially unfair and overly simplistic because it does not recognize what TWD is really great at doing. The series does to shake up its formula and story arcs creatively, connect and even introduce new ideas thematically, and adapts the comic book series with fresh and even improved ideas here and there (ehhh..mostly...or...at least a good anount of times lol but still). Daryl and Carol are still goats.
I can probably think of others, but this is one I still see pop up online and IRL frequently even with regards to the spin offs.

Maggie isn't in Virginia anymore folks. Please pay attention.
I'm gonna come off as a prick here, but I'm so tired of seeing it at this point. I'm convinced a lot of you spend more time actively looking for plot holes than actually listening to or watching the info given on screen.
A lot of you seem to think the Croat traveled all the way down to Virginia to take supply drops from Maggie. Why. Maggie never says he came to Hilltop. And why would he waste resources doing that multiple times. That's so incredibly dumb to think that.
Maggie literally tells Negan she and her people are stationed somewhere else. Before we see her shoot the flare gun to signal to her people, they show the New Babylon sign. Meaning her people are stationed somewhere in or around New York state.
This would explain why the Commonwealth wouldn't be very helpful to Maggie anymore, because she's out of their bounds. It also explains why the Croat is suddenly an issue now when he never was before. BECAUSE MAGGIE ISN'T IN VIRGINIA ANYMORE.
That's all thank you.

Such underrated characters
It makes me sad how no one ever talks about these characters because they were amazing:
- Bob - such an upbeat character that always looked for the good in things. Even though he was not on the show long, he was such an amazing character
- Tyrese - one of my favorite characters. Looked like he could rip any other character in the show apart with his bear hands, but was really a teddy bear.
- Dale - my favorite character of the first 2 seasons, the voice for humanity and goodness.
- Abraham - one of my favorites characters. certified badass.

Daryl Dixon series title
For a time there was question on if the series will be called "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" or not. During production it was referred to as "Raise the Dead", so some people thought an announcement of that title was forthcoming. I think it was just for convenience sake during production because the new snippet confirms the series is called "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" with a logo.
It's definitely the right choice for a title, especially if we are going to get a personal character story focusing on Daryl. Also because "The Walking Dead: Raise the Dead" just doesn't sound good.

I actually despise the wed support negan from his view
Apparently even the writers have entered this shitty debate; i see this view everywhere.
Negan and take rick for example are no where near comparable, Rick is a bad person, hes a killer, just as negan is, but the difference is in how they kill people, negan kills people publicly, displays it, brags about it, enjoys it etc etc
Not to mention his harem of wives he was raping?
Not to mention the torture?
And people still say ‘but rick kills people too’

Unreal that they could run a show about a zombie apocalypse and keep it hot for 11 years! Most creative series I've ever watched. The most creative part, for me, were the different types of groups/communities they created to rival our home crew. I'm an obsessive fan of HBO dramas and I'm finally watching Oz
I've seen all the famous HBO shows multiple times, and every once in a while in discussion threads there are side comments about the one that came BEFORE the sopranos. This show is SO much better than I expected. I love how many familiar faces there are on the cast. Dean Winters's character is like a "charisma build" from an RPG, just keep lyin' and keep smilin'. Augustus Hill is a really fantastic character, and I love the 4th wall narration scenes. I think if the show came out today there would be a lot of discussion about the way the show uses Hill and the strength of his actor, but I've never even HEARD of him before! I'm only on season 2 so let's go easy on spoilers.

Personally for me I think one of the scariest aspects of the Walking Dead zombies is that I feel like a part of you is still there trapped in that zombified body with no control over your actions. It's honestly one of the most unsettling thoughts I have.
Ever since the first episode with Morgan's wife. And of course, later on as we even got the "variant" walkers. I know Jenner explains that the host dies and the brain is jump-started again. But still, it's like we don't KNOW, ya know? It's not like in zombie media you got "revert back" to a human.
So I always have this sinking feeling that the human selves that the walkers were, they kind of still exist within the husk of their former body, helpless as they attack their friends. It's like a prison for eternity.
For example, Shane Walker turns so quickly and almost approaches Rick like as if he's still hostile from their recent standoff. It's like some walkers carry that energy of their emotions even past their death, if that makes sense.
I don't know, just 3 A.M. thoughts lmao.

I feel like instead of adding Gracie into the show to make Aaron a dad he shouldve taken Enid in instead.
I thought the whole Gracie situation was pretty stupid. I thought her moments with Aaron were sweet and all that, but she never really added to his character. Enid and Aaron however had this sort of bond that I wish was touched on more. They seem to form a really close bond after Enid kills Natasha during an ambush and I honestly thought it was gonna lead to Aaron possibly taking her in as his own. Especially in season 9 when Aaron trusted her in amputating his arm however, Enid gets killed and she’s largely forgotten about, other than Alden. I feel like if Aaron had taken her in as his own she either A wouldn’t have been killed off, or B, it would’ve added more depth to Aaron and would’ve allowed the writers to show a darker side of him.

season 11: highs and lows
twd writing didnt give Sebastian or lance any chance. supposedly the reason for the mass massacre is weapons that Leah takes. so what does lance do? goes after his own army and makes an alliance with the person who killed 20 of his men and stole the weapons.
Eugene's actor, lance and Sebastian yumiko and princess were all solid for the ending. the writing was not. Lance was 50x more interesting than pamela. until the writers made his motivation nonsensical for the sake of drama siding with Leah and killing riverdale for no reason, oceanside being summed up in 1 line and for whatever reason allowing 'immigrants from riverdale.' the only thing that felt like it was the same show was judith's 'sometimes i wonder' intro preying on nostalgia when things made sense and wasn't gimple'd
Sebastian was a great character but had a better redemption arc in his recorded convo than negan did because he was just being honest. comic book one that gets jealous of rick is much better than what we got, despite the great actors.
Maggie, who once had amazing depth comes back with a brick of wood, especially when she mentions 'georgie' aka i couldnt make my own show work. her only character trait now is she is a bad mother and her son keeps getting kidnaped. probably worse than lori cuz carl never got kidnapped. and now this is going to be the premise of dead city. since it has nothing to do with CRM it is probably the worst and first being pushed out

I'm 40 and balled my eyes out!
I'm pretty late to the game and finally watched this show! My coworker brings the show up often, so I finally gave it a shot. I got hooked quick and binge watched all week. Wow the characters in this show are amazing. But today I watched the episode and was totally shocked to see Carl died. In all of my 40 years a tv show hasn't effected me like that episode. I cried the WHOLE episode, went through a box of tissues!! What an amazing job Chandler did on these scenes, but that really pissed me off! I was so mad they offed such a great character, I googled about it and was glad to see it seemed to be most peopled opinion. Im happy I watched the show, but now that Carl died, I'm not going to finish it!

Are they all deaf and blind?
I anyone else bothered by how frequently this happens:
Some characters are having a conversation. They’re in an open area like a clearing or some woods that aren’t very thick, the type of place it would be hard to sneak up on someone. The camera has a tight shot on their faces while they talk so you can’t see their surroundings for about 10 seconds. Suddenly walkers jump into the frame out of nowhere. You couldn’t see or hear them before they were literally on top of the characters. Now they’re snarling and making lots of noise. But no noise as they approached. Whenever you see walkers on camera they constantly make noise, but somehow always sneak up in characters totally silently.
This happens sooooo much it drives me crazy.

Hugh Laurie
Well, House M.D. one of the best TV shows ever for me, also, Hugh Laurie's performance as House was one of the best I've ever seen, he is very talented, and I really don't know how he didn't win an Emmy for the role?
I also saw him in The Blackadder, The Night Manager (just some examples), the dude has massive range.
So, what do you think of Hugh Laurie and what are your favorite roles of him?

What episodes/scenes always hit you hard, no matter how many times you’ve seen them?
SHOW SPOILERS BELOW
For me, it involves any Grimes related deaths/departures
3x4 ending
8x8/9 (especially 809, Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira & Chandler Riggs masterclass)
9x5 (in my opinion the best episode of the show. I’m biased towards my absolute love for Rick/Andrew Lincoln and I love any Rick-centric episodes).
9x15 (the pikes scene makes me tear up no matter what)

Deadloch is my favorite murder mystery show in ages.
Hugely enjoyed The Katering Show, which is very funny, so I tried this out on the basis of the creators' involvement, half expecting something along the lines of Touch of Cloth given the marketing.
It turns out to be probably more in the wheelhouse of Fargo though, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how compelling the actual central murder mystery is in practice. The clues and misdirects are really well laid down - 4 eps in, there are still a bunch of suspects I could talk myself into betting on, and the Scandi noir influence is clear without being full on pastiche.
The characters - well, one particular character - are a little broad in the first eps, but they settle down quickly, and the humor pulls back at the right time to pay out the murder plotline. There is some commentary on murder media and coverage, but it’s integrated deftly enough into the rest not to distract, and I really liked that one particular cliché I expected - the dickhead savant detective - was dodged pretty solidly. Dulcie, the lead, is low key and likeable without being dull, and the blur between her personal life and the case feels very plausible for the kind of small town it is (and the stuff about her wife that initially felt like throwaway comic relief might not be after all)
This week's installment was my favorite yet, and if I have any gripes it's that I'm already sorry the show is about half over when Ep 1 and 2 spent so much time introing everyone. I know that's how these shows tend to be structured, but I'm really enjoying how the team feel now they're working together and I can't see how they could make an S2 work.
I'd strongly recommend folks jump in while it's still running rather than binging it all at once, because it is the kind of show that benefits from leaving you hanging for a few days.
Anyhow, give it a shot. I've heard a bunch of people say they had problems searching it on Amazon because it kept offering them Deadlock, but it is worth digging around for, and if the big strokes of ep 1 put you off, it's worth hanging in there.

Episode where Aaron tries to take the gang to Alexandria: I think Aaron would be a lot less scared and a lot more accommodating to Rick’s paranoia if someone just said “hey last time this happened they tried to eat us so give him some slack”

What are some of your favorite early season characters?
I personally liked Otis for the time we had with him. The way that Shane did him dirty was a big oof.
I really, really liked Dale. He was one of those characters who had such a great moral compass and I would have loved to see his character development if he survived deeper into the seasons.
For me, the show just hit different pre Alexandria. The total fear and confusion on how to survive and fight in this new world they found themselves in felt so real and visceral. I still enjoyed the show when they made it to Alexandria with the group trying to become civilized once again. But after the time jump, the show just became too convoluted for my tastes, especially when the Commonwealth was introduced.
