In BCS, Gus has been shown to be subservient to the Cartel, making him more of an “underdog” character compared to his BB counterpart. As he tells Hector, “I answer to Juan Bolsa.”
In BB, his relationship with Don Eladio and Co. appears to be more distant and strained. In Season 3, when he meets with Bolsa and the Cousins to discuss Walt, Bolsa makes sure to respect Gus’ territory and tells the Cousins not to kill Walt. It’s important to note Bolsa almost seems scared in fear of Gus’ retaliation in this scene. This shows Bolsa and Gus recognize each other as equals, where in BCS Gus answered to Bolsa. In the episode “Salud,” there is a reunion between Eladio and Gus, suggesting Gus and Eladio haven’t interacted for a long time. Gus is also more independent in that he manufactures his own meth and effectively has his own empire separate from the Cartel’s.
My question is, how do you think they’ll show Gus becoming more independent from the Cartel in BCS? What plot lines would you like to see?
