The characters say that the wall that surrounds Alexandria in s5 is structurally strong but is it? Spoiler for s4 and s5

The person that built it is an architect so he should be good at this stuff, but the support beams support it from the outside. If the same thing happens that happened with the prison fences in s4 where the walkers push the fences down, wouldn’t it be stronger if the support beams were inside the walls? Also, as Rick said, people could climb them. I’m just wondering how much more effective would it be if the beams were inside. I’m just finishing this season so please no spoilers if the wall does fall in the future.
