Appreciation post for Angela Kang

I’ve been watching The Walking Dead since it premiered way back on Halloween night in 2010. Loved the show, episode after episode, season after season, despite a lot of the negative reviews the show began to receive starting around season 6. I still loved it.

With Season 7 and Season 8, while I still watched weekly, it was not easy to defend the show from criticism as the writing and plot went downwards really quickly. I thought the show I once loved was going to keep plummeting until it was ended.

Then Angela Kang took over for Season 9. She did what I thought would be impossible, reigniting the excitement I had in the show from earlier seasons. I thought after Season 8 there was no way the show could pull itself back up - but I was wrong.

In my opinion, despite Season 9 only being halfway through, Kang has done a phenomenal job thus far, even without characters like Carl, and with Rick’s departure.

Sure, Gimple’s first season or two were great too, but after awhile he didn’t know what he wanted to do, resorted to cheap gimmicks, terrible dialogue, and a plot that went nowhere. But it really feels like Kang knows what direction the show needs and how to have characters interact LIKE REAL PEOPLE WOULD.

While people are free to disagree with my thoughts on this season, I just wanted to express my thoughts and thanks for Angela Kang stepping in and making this show a great watch again.

Thank you, Angela.
