This season has been absolutely great. The first 5 episodes had very rich and morally grey drama, and for the first time in a while absolutely nailed the slow burn feel. It had intriguing mysteries, interesting developments, good camera work, and good dialogue. It really did feel like a spiritual successor to season 1, with season 1 being The introduction to the apocalypse and season 9 eps 1-5 being the introduction to the New World Order. Also loved how the camera work and direction felt very similar to the feel of the first season, with the slight shake and everything. Episodes 6-8 had no Rick, but made the show feel more alive then ever. The mystery of what happened during the time skip is great, the new characters are awesome, and The Whisperers are amazing. For the first time since Negan killed Glenn, this show feels truly scary. I also love how the characters have developed over this season as a whole. From new characters such as Earl to existing one’s such as Negan, who is the most interesting character in this season, and the one who I’m looking forward to see the most in the next half. If the next half is as good as this first and is as awesome as it looks, this will be the best season yet. It’s incredible that the show rebounded this much since seasons 7 and 8 and I am very happy to say it’s my favorite show on TV once again.
