I am working my way through the seasons worried I might not get there in time...then I did season 1 in two days so.... might not be an issue.
I noticed Jamie said something to the effect of he'd rather die than live a cripple (about Bran). Interesting considering his fate but then to Ned he also said regarding how his father died he couldn't think of a worse death than being burned alive. I can see him riding into the NK dragon and getting torched, there is also a ton of wildfire under the castle...
I mentioned this in a previous post but when Ned was caught off guard and Littlefinger put a dagger to his throat it reminded me of Littlefingers own demise. I wonder if Bran set this up on purpose for him to get his throat cut from behind. The Starks could have easily had his head lopped off or killed him many ways. But how Arya did it reminded me of when he came from behind and put his own dagger to Ned's throat.
Ned watching Arya learn to fight with a sad look on his face because he knows how poorly it turned out for his sister...
Ned was kicked out as Hand for not wanting Dany harmed many claimed since Jon is a Targ BUT he also went far beyond by objecting to Renley's proposal of capturing Joffrey for fear he would be harmed and also warned Cersei earlier to leave for fear of what Robert would do to Cersei's kids. Beyond just Dany, Ned went out of his way to protect children (disgusted at the baker boys death by the hound) Ned basically died trying NOT to harm Joffrey. In the end he went with littlefinger over renley (wow such a bad choice) and tried to use the guard to take Joff but stressed he wanted no blood. My conclusion, Ned must have been REAL traumatized from when the Lannisters took Kings Landing...
Loaning money - in Kings Landing its a big deal that the Lannisters own essentially Robert because the kingdom owes them so much money...I feel like historically when royalty owed someone a lot it didn't go well for the people they owed. The Lannisters were dug in but it seems like Robert had options to get rid of his debt in more nefarious ways. Granted its a show and Robert was by all accounts an honorable (even if he had other faults) king but I feel like it would have occurred to someone to just kill all the Lannisters and you're free of the debt. No one on that side was devious or lacked "honor" enough. Although again historically you usually make up an excuse to knock off the people you owe money to in order to justify it...
Joffrey gets slapped a lot and it is comedy gold.
Multiple viewings is really the way to go, having read a few of the books and watched the show its much more satisfying the second time...also binge watching helps.
