I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this so I guess Ill just spill my feelings here lol.
First off Ill just say in some ways the show is better at portraying things than the comics can. That being said, I personally believe the comics are better in every other way compared to the show.
My favourite characters are Rick, Carl, Negan but my favourite of all of them have to be Andrea. From reading these comics its actually embarrassing how badly they fucked up Andrea’s character on the show, god I wish they had kept her 8 season contract.
The show has never made me very emotional, no book has made me emotional, but when Andrea was dying I couldn’t help but tear up, is that weird? Lol. Same thing with Carl’s reaction to Rick dying (which I think was a shit way to go, alone) I’d have preferred he died in front of everyone.
I personally felt the Commonwealth storyline was a bit rushed but nonetheless was more entertaining than I thought it would have been. It will be interesting how it plays out in the show considering many of the key characters in this arc are either dead or moved on from the show.
I also felt like the final issue “The Farmhouse” was kind of unnecessary and Id have been fine if they didn’t end it like that.
Negan was a brilliant character, loved his dialogue, and as much as I love JDM on the show and his acting, the comics made me realize he was a bit of miscast based on Negan’s stature in the comics I suppose.
In the end im sure im missing something I wanted to say but this is the greatest comics series Ive ever read (although this is only comics series Ive ever read, ha) and Ill miss reading them... but will re-read them for certain.
