[SPOILERS] I hate Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name blah blah blah.
Just finished with the series yesterday. Idk know I think she is the most arrogant character in the series. She wants Iron Throne just because Mad King had it but he was overthrewn by Robert. So technically she isn't the heir. She has 3 dragons without whom she would lose 80% of her powers. She cheated Kraznys mo Nakloz by offering drogon for the unsullied. But later commanded drogon to burn him...I think thats unfair..She entered Qarth cuz of Xaro Xhoan Daxos but later punished she could have shown mercy...After getting to that Jon was Aegon Targeryan. She begged him not to tell that to anybody as she wanted to sit on Iron Throne. In the end burned a city of Innocents just because her 1 friend was murdered which is common when you are in a war. A Hypocrite. There are more reasons to hate her idk. Does anyone have similar opinion here?

[SPOILERS] Possibly the most intriguing hair-based GoT hypothetical you'll read today.
Or possibly not. But anyway...
What would Ned have done if Jon's hair had been the recognisable Targaryen blonde? Concealing the truth of his parentage is going to be much harder if he's displaying such a widely known trait of the Targaryens, and shaving/dyeing constantly is still going to raise questions about why Ned is so concerned about Jon's hair.
If word were to get back to Bobby B that Ned's 'bastard' actually had hair like Rhaegar's, I don't imagine he'd take it well. Events would certainly have unfolded very differently...

[SPOILERS] What does The North, Post-Season 8, looks like?
So with the North being a great big battle ground for season 6, 7 & 8; a lot has shaken up the Kingdom.
- It is now independent from the rest of Westeros with Sansa being its first Queen In The North. (What would her list of titles include?)
- House Bolton is extinct, so what's the future of the Dreadfort?
- House Mormont is extinct, so what is the future of Bear Island?
- House Glover remained in Deepwood Motte during the Battle of Winterfell against the Night King. Will she seek retribution or any kind of show of loyalty and good faith?
- Speaking of, EVERYONE in The North now knows the Walkers were/are real. What does that mean for the Night's Watch. Will they receive more funding & manpower?
- Which house would be the first or most likely to approach Sansa with a marriage proposal? Would her husband also take the Stark name?
I know Season 8 is a sore subject, but lets just talk about what could be happening, rather than what we would like to have happened.

Who Has Been The Absolute Worst Kid In The Walking Dead Universe
We have had quite a few kids within the Walking Dead franchise who turn out to be incredibly annoying, crazy, and/or obnoxious characters who, many times, end up doing terrible things on the show. So who is your 'fan favorite - absolute worst" kid we've seen within The Walking Dead franchise to date?
I could only add 6 names here so these are the choices. I couldn't include the World Beyond kids, or Carl, who I had intended to make choice #7 here, because of this limitation. Feel free to add your choice in the comments if none of these listed are your top pick!

Can we please start using future spoiler tags in comment sections?
Something that has really been annoying me this season of TWD is whenever I go to the weekly discussion thread to talk about an episode, there are so many unmarked future spoilers that I would really rather not know.
Leah being a reaper was meant to be a cool reveal/surprise but I felt nothing when watching it because people had already discussed it for months on this sub
Also, the one that made me make this post is everyone openly talking about how the stephanie we have seen is not actually the real stephanie because they looked at the casting lists. I dont look at the casting lists, and I do not want the big reveal of fake stephanie to be ruined for me, but too late.
I've noticed most posters are good with using the "Future spoiler" tag but if people could please start using it in comment sections too that would be great. Some people don't want to know every confirmed spoiler from casting lists that youve seen. If you spoiler tag it, the people that do want to know can just unhide it and see what you found

[SPOILERS] I just finished the show for first time and the last two episodes ruined it for me
How did Daenerys go from a slave liberator to genocidal queen? They completely changed her in season 7 and gave her such an attitude. That whole zombie storyline was so trash, felt like I was watching The Walking Dead woth smarter zombies. They were supposed to be a big threat.
How did they even know that Jon killed Dany? Did he just go an say "Hey there my dickless boys, I killed your queen, don't know where her body is, the ugly dragon took her. Anyways, here, arrest me." Grey Worm is one of the most annoying character in the show. Why did Daenerys go on burning the whole city, worst she could do after her friend died was brutally kill Cersei.
Why did they give Jon his "Aegon Targaryen, probably last of his name" arc when they didn't want to complete it. They could have done something better for Jon atleast. Bran becoming the King was the most stupid thing in the world, I expected him to become some master of knowledge type thing but wtf? I have so many things to rant about
A man wants his time back.

[SPOILERS] Worst moments in my opinion part 2
8 - Everyone in Winterfell being surrounded by wights and surviving. The best swordsman Barristan Selmy died fighting off 8 sons of the harpy members, meanwhile Sam the slayer is on his back killing dozens of wights. Sam's the strongest character there is. This big threat is whiddled down to a giant joke.
7 - Jon killing Dany and getting thrown in jail. So did he just walk out and be like "hey guys I killed the queen yup." There's no body or proof so how did he wind up in jail? He just ratted on himself? Earlier Greyworm kills Lannister soldiers just for breathing but here he doesn't seem to give af. You're telling me this revenge filled man who has nothing left but serving his queen would not kill Jon on the spot for killing his queen? "But the other armies will attack." What other armies? The northern 1? With like 2000 north men left? Fuck it let them attack Greyworm has the backing of The dotrhaki, iron islanders, and Dorne. And Greyworm goes off to commit suicide later anyways so what's he so scared of right now? And I'm not really sure what happened with drogon. "I think we'll be even if I destroy this chair." Like uhm ok. Or did he just see pointy thing and think the chair killed Dany? Dumb cunt. And did the dothraki just go back to essos cuz they just got bored? Bloodriders? That shit is a joke.
6 - Jon charging Ramsay's army and surviving. The show used to be about consequence, how seeking revenge and doing dumb shit would get you killed. But here Jon falls for Ramsay's trap and lol it's fine. At this point the show just became a more generic action fantasy show without any logic. In past battles the characters all have to outsmart their enemy to win, but here oh looks it's Sansa Deus ex machina to save the day.
5 - Dany kinda just forgetting about Euron. Not only is this stupid but it's almost the most insulting shit this show has thrown at my face. Kinda just forgetting is there reason for killing Raegal? And they need to explain it afterwards cuz the episode is incapable of standing on it's own. Fuck it just have Morgan Freeman narrating then. This is the 3rd time they get surprised attacked by Euron and Dany kinda just fucks off even tho she later goes on to destroying a thousand ships but can't destroy 10 now. So she just straight up abandons her people and then is surprised when her sundae is captured.

[SPOILERS] I have a question about Jon and Catelyn.
If Ned were to have told his wife about Jon, who his true parents were, that he was not a bastard but rather his nephew... do you think Catelyn would’ve treated him better? Do you think she would’ve been able to raise him close enough to being her own?
I’m rewatching the show right now and when she tells Jon that she wants him to leave, it broke my heart.

[SPOILERS] Worst moments in my opinion
16 - The 1st line of season 8. "Varys no balls lmao." Starting off a season with a terrible cock joke.
15 - Euron fighting Jaime. Why are they even fighting? Seeing Euron's smug face turn around just made me want to turn off the episode. At least we get a nice fight scene. Nope. I swear either the editing is the worst shit I've ever seen or the camera man is trying to bust a fat nut with 1 hand as he holds onto the camera with the other.
14 - Dothraki charging into the wights. This whole scene is stupid. And Jon even says in the war room, "we can't beat them in a straight fight." I guess they kinda just forgot about that. Isn't the plan to lure the NK out anyways? "Oh just don't worry if it actually makes sense because it looks cool." Well yea it does look pretty cool but is rendered entirely useless when they just repopulate in the next episode. And not a single dothraki has a single line or even a name so, who really cares that they all died?
13 - Gendry running back to the wall. "You're the fastest go." How does Jon know Gendry's the fastest? Did they hold some 40 yard dashes in a deleted scene? "Boy Gendry you sure are fast." Why not just have Bran overlook their expedition and then warn Dany?
12 - Varys telling Jon how committing treachery is fun. You're asking the man who was raised by Ned Stark to betray his queen? You dumb cunt. "Can you betray Dany after she's just defended the north for you please?" Just walking around telling everyone he's committing treason.
11 - Baelish handing Sansa over to the Boltons. So Baelish wants allies? And he wants to ally with the Boltons who have no allies themselves, don't have the support of even 1/5 of the northern houses, and are being attacked by Stannis who Baelish says will likely kill them. If you think they're going to die anyways why ally with them? You risk an alliance with Sansa for Roose? Why the Boltons have nothing you want. They don't even have the north. All they have is the dreadfort. You could just make it known you have her and there you have a northern army and the army of the Vale. But no instead he'd rather Ramsay hold onto his biggest chess piece.
10 - Cersei not killing everyone at the execution. Here Dany and her dragon are just standing right there with like 50 men and Cersei goes "nah lawl." I'm not even sure how they set this scene up, did Cersei post flyers around westeros about a public execution and Dany just happened to stumble upon them? And she hired Bronn, Tyrion's friend to kill him? Dumb bitch. But Tyrion's right there now and she just decides not to. Could've at least found another sellsword. And if Bronn could easily sneak into the room of the hand and punch him in the face why not just go next door and kill Dany?
9 - Plan to capture a wight to show Cersei. I don't even think I have to explain this 1.

[SPOILERS] Worst moments in my opinion part 3
4 - Arya coming out of nowhere to kill the NK. Ahhh how poetic and perfectly logical, a character who had absolutely nothing to do with the white walker subplot is the 1 to wrap it up, so poetic. And no we can't have Jon defeat his primary antagonist because that doesn't subvert those expectations. And D&D did it because "Arya wasn't the 1 we were thinking about at the time and it just didn't feel right to us." 😑 it's like George said if you write in your story that the butler did it and the only reason you change it is because somebody guessed it right, well now you have a bunch of shit you built up to with no pay off. Alright but let's loosely connect this with a line Melisandre said in season 3 that is so broad it applies to Arya killing literally anyone. Outside of all that it's just ridiculous Arya flying in like an eagle screaming.
3 - Dany's destroying of King's Landing. I'll have to make another post about this 1 cuz this is a just a giant cluster fuck that I can't even begin to elaborate on.
2 - Bran becoming the king. He constantly talks about not wanting and how he can't be lord of anything and then the sudden change to "Why do you think I came all this way" is in another realm of idiocracy. That's like Jon saying for 2 seasons how much he doesn't want it and then in the finale him triumphly saying he wants it. And then Tyrion's best argument for him being king is "I liked his story." Not strength, wisdom, integrity, leadership, or benevolence nope it only matters if you have a boring ass story. A comatose vegetable who has no sympathy or empathy for anybody he is dealing with. Such a good story the writers wrote him out of an entire season. He'd rather live in the past (Not even his own) than live his own life. Yea great fucking story.

Terminus Question: S5: E1
OK, I tried looking this up online but I haven't found the answer yet ....
Does anyone know why the cannibals at Terminus took their victims to the trough to bleed them out? However, more importantly, does anyone know why they hit their victims in the back of the head with a baseball bat just prior to then immediately slitting their throats?
The only thing I can come up with is that it is disorienting enough to the victim that it becomes much easier for the guy to then slit their throat? Is that the reason? Because otherwise they might struggle too much, and it's too difficult to slit their throat then and get the job done?
I don't know why they wouldn't just hang their victims upside down from a rope over the trough and slit their throats while they dangled there, defenseless. Seems that would be an efficient way to not only get their throats cut open, but also to ensure that all the blood drained out of the body.
God, even talking about all this is a bit sickening considering what they were doing here! lol

What if...? The Walking Dead edition.
If you haven't seen marvels "What if..?", It's basically a mini series of an original marvel movie, but with one small change that completely changes the story. Applying this same idea to the walking dead, what small change would you make, and what do you think it would do? My small change would be Sophia gets found in season 2 when Rick goes back to get her at the creek. If that happens, Shane probably lives awhile longer, maybe even breaks away from the group like he wanted. Maybe the group ends up getting over ran at the fort that they planned on going to? What do you think??

The last episode of No Reservations on Hulu opens with Anthony Bourdain and Michael K Williams walking around Brooklyn. My heart broke.
Two people who had huge effects on my life. When I was a young college dropout I started working in kitchens and Anthony Bourdain was my patron saint. Kitchen Confidential was part cautionary tale and part road map, I love it. The Wire was a revelation, a type of television i had never seen before, stories I could even imagine. Omar is the most complex and engaging character ever written, I rewatch The Wire annually.
Watching those two walk around Brooklyn, smile, and enjoy life gabe me pause. Two monuments of my life, gone way to soon.

[SPOILERS] Quick game of thrones S8 rewrite give criticism
This is gonna be short, with no dialogue. Edit: It actually dragged on sorry
Night King is shown destroying some northern towns in early eps as he makes his way to Winterfell
When he arrives at Winterfell there will be far less snow making it easier to see and Jon will have actual strategy. I'm not a strategist, but let's just go with Jon having great strategy to take on NK. Bran is also utilised. Maybe hire a chess player
NK arrives at Winterfell. Catapults projectiles at Jon army dealing damage. The unsullied and Dothraki have flaming obsidian weapons. Jons armies do better than the original but are still overwhelmed even with his tactics.
Jon/Rhaegal and Daenerys/Drogon are burning the armies when they are attacked by NK/Viserion, they narrowly escape dying. They engage in a similar fight in the original, but the dragons are more distinctly coloured and the shots are taken further away, given an easy understanding of the fight. Rhaegal is wounded, but they knock down the NK.
The wights breakthrough and start entering the city. A relevant character is shown dying. More giants and bears. Once again the defending forces have a little more victory but are overwhelmed.
Rhaegal crash lands and Daenerys flys down. They see NK. Prior, Melisandre enchanted Jons sword to make it a little more NK killer. NK is slightly hurt by the full force of Drogons fire, but barely weakened. Drogon attempts melee but NK hits him away wounding him he summons a shard of ice and throws it at Daenerys, she blocks it with her and but it pierces and wounds her. Drogon notices and flys away. Jon fights NK and does well, but is overwhelmed by his experience and strength. He notices the power of Jons sword and summons some wights including a giant to defend him. He assumes Jon will die and heads to Bran.
Daenerys notices the sheer loss of life and realises they can't win so she rallies a retreat on her dragons. Relevant character dies making sure another one survives.
NK goes walks through Winterfell decimating everyone who comes close to him. He enters the clearing. Bran wargs into someone/something, of strength perhaps a white walker? It falls to NK's blade. Melisandre enters the clearing, burning up what is left of her to wound the white walker generals. She dies. A wounded Jon enters after her and runs to save Bran. He gets into another fight with the NK, this time almost dying until Drogon tail whips him away. Bran and Jon escape on Drogon.
A week later they arrive at Kings Landing and their shape and news of the Night Kings destruction as he heads south convinces Cersei to let them stay and fight. All wildfire is brought out and more manufactured. Many traps are made. Weapons are made and both all armies equipped.
After an episode or two NK arrives and attacks. Wildfire goes off killing a large part of his army but at the same time, Viserion destroys a lot of kings landing. After a lengthy battle, it's just NK, Viserion, white walkers and some wights in an open space vs Jon/Rhaegal, Daenerys/Drogon and relevant characters/mixed remains of armies. Dragons/Jon/Daenerys and NK take to the sky to fight, White Walkers and remaining wights take the rest.
The ground is a blood and bone bath while in the sky is a vicious fight. Rhaegal is flying weakly but Drogon is ferocious and more offensive. Daenerys and NK charge each other both blowing flames, Drogon smashes into Viserion breaking him to bits and knocking down Drogon. Daenerys is killed and NK falls down. The dragons being too wounded to fight, Jon goes for the Nightking and they get into a fight. Once again Jon is losing, but with the help of another character, perhaps Bran wargs into a soldier on the battlements and fires a scorpion outfitted with an obsidian bolt and NK knocking him down, or attempts warging into NK directly messing with his fighting. Either way, Jon with help is able to thrust his sword in the NK, killing him. GG
This destroys the army of the dead, but not the White Walkers. They are killed manually. A change I would like to see implemented is that NK isn't made more powerful than other White Walkers, but is effectively just a smart, more powerful White Walker due to age/experience. This does not eliminate the White Walkers in the north. Weakened, but not gone.
Far later on, Dragon eggs are shown, among other good things. The Night King did his damage, but all is not lost.
Lemme know what you think.

Theory on the large group that Michonne sees
Before Michonnes exit, she saw a massive group of people probably 2-3,000 strong walking in formation with what looked like armed guards protecting them on their flanks.
Could these be surviving refugees who escaped Omaha when the CRM blew the walls and let walkers into the city ( S2E1 of The World Beyond)? There were some 100,000 survivors living in Omaha 10 years after the apocalypse, so I have no doubt at least a couple of thousand could have escaped. The guards on the edges of the formation may well be the Omaha Police Department, which was still fully functioning up until the CRM destroyed the city walls.

Doom Patrol's third season is hitting HBO Quality now
Season 3 starts with a hand waving of the weird COVID ending of Season 2. Five minutes later, Season 3 starts and... HOLY SHIT. There's something more mature this season, both in the characters and the writing. Its like they have established the world so well at this point that we as the audience are just on board. They pulled off a backdoor pilot this season that was so good I legitimately didn't even realise it was a backdoor pilot. All the new characters are so fucking interesting and they clearly have a much higher budget this season. I just can't believe the level of quality that im seeing with this season. Its like they don't have any sort of production constraints this year. I think its really at a level that we only really see on HBO.
So without spoiling anything at all, I just want to say you guys seriously need to watch Doom Patrol. You don't need to know much going in and you don't need to watch anything else to follow along.

[SPOILERS] Why do people always defend Edmure and criticize Robb?
Robb heard about Stafford Lannister forming another Lannister host in Oxcross. Sitting idle will allow that host become a big threat eventually. So he tells Edmure to just "Hold Riverrun" in case Renly's big army is actually defeated and they need another long term plan as fail-safe.
He takes his cavalry, bypasses golden tooth through warging and achieves a big victory at Oxcross. And THEN makes the plan of tricking Tywin into coming into Westerlands. The strategy becomes even better when Brynden's spies find a really good spot on the gold road where they can ambush Tywin himself.
Tywin falls for the trick and marches west. Now people speculate that Tywin was not going after Robb but instead going to-
•Seige Riverrun: I highly doubt it. Tywin would have to repeat Jaime and split his army into 3 parts because of Riverrun's shape. And this time the Rivermen aren't pinned down, and top of that, the northern infantry is also present. •Pillage Riverlands: Again, he would be exposing himself and to pillage he would need to spread his army thin. He doesn't have nearly as many men as he had before and this time he would not be taking Rivermen by surprise, and Northmen are there as well.
Edmure's first priority should always have been to make Tywin leave riverlands. When he was leaving, Edmure, instead of holding the castle as he was told to, went off and fought a battle with Tywin and stopped his advance. He also took away the northern garrison in the Twins and gave them to Roose Bolton.
For people who think that Robb was the incapable one and the Edmure the real hero, Edmure had gotten himself captured by Jaime and was freed by Robb who also lifted the seige off his home and stopped Tywin from dominating his lands.

Why did they do Daryls character that way?? Spoilers
They spent years denying him a love interest and implying he’s not comfortable sexual with anyone. Only to have some weird half assed relationship with a mountain lady hermit and end up banging her.
Why did they do that to his character and development instead of exploring that side of him throughly???
It makes no sense to build it up for years then have it mean absolutely nothing.
And yes they totally had sex IMO.. why else would she be naked and looking sexy in front of fire while laying on Daryl?

I've noticed this pattern throughout the show; Rick's group will be weary about new people joining the group:
They were like that to:

But they expect other groups like the Hill Top to allow Rick and his people in their group.

People say they only liked Season 1 & 2 because they have no idea how TWD zombie apocalypse actually works.
Basically, I saw professor drinking coffee from Game of Thrones cup.
I said "Do you know what's better than Game of Thrones?"
He said "No idea..."
I said "The Walking Dead."
He was like "Naaaah I don't like it at all..."
He was explaining to me why he didn't like TWD after Season 2. His claims is like the rest of fake TWD fans. What they usually say ( and what he said ) is that everyone was scared of zombies at first and eventually, people became the problem instead of zombies.
People... That's how apocalypse in TWD works. Zombies are super slow ( not that stupid, but still stupid ) and you can escape them however you want. You can escape them walking. At this point, people are bigger threat than zombies. Zombies can't run, zombies can't shoot, zombies can't think that much. Everybody got used to them and when they learned how to deal with them, everything goes smooth. As the show goes on, we see less of zombies and more of people vs people. That's the most accurate representation of zombie apocalypse but people don't get it. I guess that people expected from the show to fight zombies and only zombies. Every human on the planet Earth will come together and they will beat the zombies! HAHAHA... no. People are animals and people do what people do ( Homo himini lupus / A man is a wolf to another man ).
Now that we resolved how apocalypse with TWD zombies works, we can move on. Let's agree that some seasons were less interesting. Season in prison was so boring, I felt asleep. Some episodes were stretched with pointless details. But I never said "That's it, I'm quitting" like most of them did. They did it because they never truly loved TWD. Season 10 and season 11 was a bliss. The show glows in it's full shine, but too bad the end of it is near. We still have FTWD which was better than TWD at one point ( in my opinion ). I hope for more TWD spin-offs. And I hope for another location too. I mean.. another continent. How is the apocalypse in Europe? Another cultures, another mentality of people, etc...
There is so much I want to say... actually that much that I forgot my speech. People don't get the true art of The Walking Dead, and that's really sad.
I hope to hear from you people and we can discuss a bit more!

[SPOILERS] I wrote an alternate ending to the show for fun
Night King decimates Winterfall and Jon Snow becomes a Walker. A group of 3 escape on Drogon's back- Daenerys, Jamie, and Bran.
Jamie talks to Cersei and tells her that they've lost. Cersei smirks at which Jamie gets enraged and stabs her to take over the throne. Now we go to the point where Night King is invading King's Landing.
Daenerys faces off against NK and dies. NK summons the dead and Daenerys becomes a Walker following which Drogon burns her down to set her free while NK watches and smiles. Jamie jumps on NK and NK grabs him by the throat. But then Jamie's face comes off and Arya (who was wearing Jamie's face all along) gets released from his clutch. She then proceeds to stab NK in the gut killing all the walkers except one.
The last standing Walker is that of Jon Snow, the man who has once again come back from the dead. His eyes are blue and he has now evolved to a full fledged Walker becoming the successor to NK. Jon walks to Arya and apologizes for failing to save everyone. He then gets on Drogon's back and flies off to a self imposed exile, never to be heard from again.
Winterfall has been destroyed so Westeros doesn't get divided. There's no King instead Westeros becomes an Oligarchy with Bran presiding as a Prophet.

Anybody get tired of the killing/not killing dilemma?
I understand for some parts of the show it was necessary. Morgan played it well because he is crazy. I didn’t like carol going down that road, especially when she burns people alive in a fire a few seasons later.
Rick being the leader has gone back and forth with it. It makes sense somewhat. Not killing Negan was so dumb, but I understand following the comics but also he is a money maker when it comes to ratings.
However what irks me is the constant recycle of that idea. Henry and Lydia in season 9 is just an example.
There are so many instances of it. Let the idea die please. Or just don’t make it dumb. I can get behind Carl trying to save sadiq, or Daryl/Henry saving Lydia. But I can’t get behind people not trying to kill the whisperers or groups like the saviors etc.

Which characters do you want/not want to be killed off?
I’m hoping they give Magna a chance, big fan of the actress and I’m curious as to what they would do to go deeper into her character.
Connie also brings a huge new fear to the show with her silent scenes, honestly have not been scared watching the show for years until they did that.
As for characters I’d happily see go (apologies) Jerry, Aaron - can’t stand him, he’s boring and annoying imo, Daryls older Beth looking GF.

Bought the DVD complete series. Finished the series and was disappointed there wasn't much regarding behind the scenes or making of extras. Is there a different version (maybe bluray?) where there are more features than just commentary? I don't expect Lord of the Rings-level of extras, but did want to see more about the special FX than what was offered on the DVDs.

Of the entirety of season 2, my all-time favorite episode to watch is 18 Miles Out mainly for the Shane, Randall and Rick parts of the episode.
I wish we had more Shane and Rick episodes like this before shit hit the fan in the rest of 2B.

If you haven’t yet you should watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles.
T:TSCC is now out on Hulu, so if your like me and haven’t watched it yet you should! I’m only about half way through the first season and I can honestly say that this is a very impressive and compelling TV sequel to terminator 2.
The budget does show its head sometimes but honestly considering this was on network television I’m surprised at some of the set pieces the show has been able to pull of. There is an episode that flashes back and forth between timeframes and it honestly feels like it could easily be mistaken for a scene in the original and I say that as a good thing!

The other half and I started watching The Walking Dead back at the end of July..
We just finished “What Comes After”.. holy shit.
Season 7 and 8 had their moments but it felt slow and the misses was starting to lose severe interest by the time we got to about 8x13.
Come Season 9, it felt like a great breath of fresh air entered the show.. things were moving at a steady pace and our characters were ending up in some sticky situations.
I liked how these past five episodes really focused on Rick. It felt very season 1. Absolutely loved the callbacks in episode 5.
I didn’t know I cared for Rick as much as I did until I got to that episode, the big man was breaking my heart when he spoked to Hershel and Sasha.
Amazing performance from Andrew Lincoln and the rest of the cast.
Daryls last shot also killed me lol.

How many survivors are there in the US?
Up until season 10, every community we have seen has been very small. Alexandria had around 50 or 60 residents. I believe the Hilltop maybe had about 200 or so and probably similar numbers for the Kingdom. The Saviors I can't remember their numbers but they're likely around 400-500 perhaps give or take. To me that suggests roughly around 1,000 people having survived within the secured communities in Virginia. That doesn't include lone survivors or groups living in the wilderness in the area. Out of Virginias pre outbreak population of 8 million, around only 1,000 have survived the apocalypse this far in. If those numbers were replicated in each state (of course they won't be as every state is different but this is just for arguments sake) then we might have 50,000 survivors living in small communities nationwide.
Then we come to the larger communities. The Civic Republic has a population of some 200,000. It's allied city-state in Omaha, Nebraska had a surviving population of 100,000. We know Portland, Oregon also is a surviving city-state but we don't know it's population but I'll guess at around 50,000 to be a conservative estimate. Finally we have the Commonwealth , which we know has "almost 50,000" survivors.
That means that as of season 11, there are around 450,000 survivors in the Former United States. Assuming that larger states such as California, New York, Florida and Texas have bigger concentrations of smaller survivor communities, I'd take a guess the number might be as high as 500,000 survivors in the former US.
Of course these numbers could be waaaay off as Im only going by the information we do know and making educated guesses on the rest.

[SPOILERS] Was it wrong of Eddard/“Ned” Stark to execute (you know who) in the HBO Season 1, Episode 1?
Obviously it was foreshadowing to Ned’s later execution. But in Ned’s execution, I feel in that moment right before he died that it was wrong for Joffrey to do this to Ned (no kidding!); but was it karma for what Ned did to the deserter in season 1 episode 1? Like yes, when we see Ned as a whole, he’s like, the goodliest man. And the scene of his execution ripped my heart out! But I also think we really forget about what he did to that deserter in that moment of Ned’s execution way back in the earlier episode and perhaps it’s karma. My gut tells me it’s not and it’s just foreshadowing but I’m trying to open the door to theories.
If the deserter left not just simply out of fear, but because he had seriously seen evil in the flesh. Living may have been more important in the grand scheme of things because he got to warn the others before his execution that the white walkers are real and they are back. Idk, maybe I’m just trying to save the deserters reputation? I don’t believe the reason the deserter chose to live was to warn the others, I think he just got scared shitless (which I don’t necessarily have a cold heart about).
But also, perhaps the deserter knew that he wouldn’t be able to kill the white walker, so staying and fighting it in that moment would just be a stupid suicide and not worth it/nor perhaps right either. He obviously knew what a white walker was, so perhaps he also knew he had no chance in that moment of defeating it alone and without fire. If this is true, I don’t think it was wrong of him to run away. You can’t protect the realm if you’re so brave you’re just plain stupid. He was obviously caught off guard.
Again, I’m not saying a believe these two theories just trying to understand what went on in Ned’s head after deciding to send a man to his death. Ned was such a good man, and you can see it in his eyes that he atleast considers the deserter’s warning in the scene before he executes the deserter. You can tell Eddard may mourn for what he did but he does not regret it. I’m just trying to understand him and why he thinks it was the right thing to do.

Squid Game - A friend tipped me off to this Korean dystopian thriller on Netflix. It's a bit like Alice in Borderland, but much more character-focused and pleasant. GREAT visuals.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10919420/
"Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes. A survival game that has a whopping 40-million-dollar prize at stake."
I really hope Squid Game continues the quality it had in the first episode. I didn't think I'd enjoy something that sounded like a rip-off of Alice in Borderland, but Squid checked off a lot of boxes that I've been searching for since recent shows have been so drab and downbeat. I'd compare the visuals to something like Robin Williams' TOYS meets Survive Style 5+. Just wild stuff.

[Spoilers] Davos, Season 8
Couldn’t write much in my title for sake of spoilers so heres what I wanna say.
I think that Davos would of been a good candidate to finish the Night King.
Like many I am dissatisfied for Arya doing the job, it made me hate her character because all of a sudden the entire show seems to be all about her since she takes out some of the big names. I was very happy when she took out Walder Frey, that was a great moment for me, and Littlefinger too.
There could of quite easily been a scene of her wiping out some walkers instead.
Also like some I am not a fan of Jon Snow killing the night king, it seems to predictable and cliche. However he at the least should of definitely had a long fight with him, which I think should of ended with him being wounded and near death (Jon)
The reason why I think Davos should be the one, despite not being a fighter or having real ties with the night king, is because of mellisandre and how wrong she always is.
At first she thought Stannis was Azor Ahai, she was wrong, and secondly she thought it was Jon.
But in both these scenarios Davos has ended up being the right hand man, could it be Mellisandre overlooked him and he was the one afterall?
Like I said Davos is no fighter, but he must be one of the purest and greatest characters on GOT, he was easily one of my favourites and his relationship with Shireen was great.
I’m not gonna write a full script but basically as Jon is about to receive a killing blow Davos could rescue him by sacrificing himself, but also take the sword from Jon and kill the Night King as he is dying.
Also Bran should of been more involved because the writing on his character was abysmal.
So yeh, I don’t think it should be Jon or Arya because one of them fits the shoe to well, and the other not at all. Theres no right answer to who should of done it

Hot take but I really don’t care too much for Lydia
I don’t find her too compelling, I know i’m supposed to like her cause she comes from a abusive home so that’s supposed to gift her sympathy points. But I still like Alpha more than her simply cause of Alpha’s story. Lydia just isn’t too interesting. I feel she’s only relevant if the whisperers are the conversation, it’s like she relies on her mother so people can remember she’s still here. She doesn’t have anything going for herself.
I feel they stuck her with Daryl and Negan just to give a few more likability points for Daryl (Cause some disliked him after the war) and Negan (For his redemption) and to give Lydia more credibility. But honestly I find her pretty boring.
I think she’s going to be background this season, considering it’s the last season and her entire character was built on Alpha. Now that Alpha’s gone, I don’t think she’s going to be seen a lot. It looks like Negan, Maggie, Yumiko, Princess, Eugene, Ezekiel, Judith, Daryl and Connie will be the main focuses. Maybe Lydia could get a bottle episode.

fucking daenerys what was the point of burning the entire city down??? I understand burning the walls with the dragon shooter things sure. I understand burning down the iron fleet and golden army people sure. BUT when cerseis soldiers surrendered and they rang the bell - what the heck was the point of anything that happened after that??? Couldnt the unsullied etc just seige the castle and take cersei? She had little to no protection left. If that scene with jaime and cersei had to happen then couldnt she have just burned down the castle with the few casualties inside the red keep instead of burning down THE ENTIRE CITY??? A city shes supposed to live in and literally killing EVERYONE including probably some of her men??? I didnt even like how cersei died i thought we deserved a more shameful death than that. The writers did everyone so dirty UNNECESSARILY. Somebody make sense of this for me i did not just watch 7 amazing seasons for it to end like this (well 5 amazing seasons and 2 okay ones)

[SPOILERS] A weird thought that Sam's Proposal is probably the most pragmatic
I was just thinking about how the idea of Democracy was laughed off, but some form of "great council" of newly-minted kings makes a great deal of sense even from a purely self-interested point of view.
Westeros has a size issue, it's just too big to be a single feudal state without falling into civil war every few decades; any regional Lord can raise an army big enough to give them a chance at power and support whatever spare hair or bastard is floating around at the time. The Targaryens had the "nuclear option" of dragons to make rebelling a suicidal prospect but without that it suddenly becomes possible.
Splitting it up and putting some sort of "Kingly Council" where even if your Kingdom / family is out of favor for a while you can content yourself that some machination / patience will put you back on top in time, without the risk of loosing lots of your men (and potentially your entire influence) in a war.
Despite the "happy ending" It's probable that after Bran stops ruling via foresight the entire thing falls into the crisis of the third century, with a pretty regular turnover of various lords "marching on the Landing" and being proclaimed king until the same happens to them.
Unless he goes all Leto II and becomes a God-King Weirwood.

We then see rick waking up not remembering anything and the crm tells him lies that the commonwealth is the enemy. That means that what if the final villain isn't just the commonwealth but its actually also Rick Grimes even more ruthless than his season 5 self and is more of a mercenary.keep in mind rick wouldn't stay as the villain for the whole season as soon as he sees judith wearing his hat he starts coming back to his senses and remembers everything.

[SPOILERS] dire wolves
just rewatched the entire series and i cant get over my disappointment on the lack of use of the dire wolves. I wish they were shown more and given more action/fight scenes. They were too cool not to be given air time. Like showing Grey Wind and Ghost in any of the battles. Or maybe bringing back Nymeria to fight. Also curious to know if they were presented better in the books - im about to start reading and i want more of them

Jerry O'Connell in 'Sliders' is the true master of the multiverse. The show is still a great sci-fi series because of the natural charisma of Jerry O’Connell, the beautiful chemistry of the four original team members, and its brilliant premise.

What TV Series had such a decline that you never finished it in the end?
A few years back I remember struggling through the third and fourth season of Prison Break (there were only four seasons at the time) and I remembered swearing then that if a series started to get worse that I would simply stop watching it rather than sticking through with it.
For me some shows I’ve never finished because of a massive drop off in quality were Suits (start of season 7), Power (end of the first half of season 6 but I really should have given up earlier) Shameless (US version, season 8) and The Walking Dead (very start of season 4). I’m curious to see if anyone else has had the same experience with these shows or if there are other shows where people have felt the quality got so bad they couldn’t continue through with it.
EDIT: Also if possible you could give reasons as to why or specific parts of the show that would be perfect

[spoilers] Seeking uninterrupted story for individual characters.
Please excuse me if this has been addressed here before, I'm new.
What I am looking for is a way to seamlessly watch or listen to an audio book version of individual characters through the full storyline (every Arya chapter all in a row for example). Obviously this could be accomplished by skipping through the books and tagging all the chapters for a given character but I personally prefer listening or watching. Does anyone here know of any compilations of this sort? Thanks!

What annoys you the most about TWD?
I love this show, but I’m 4 episodes into season 11 and two things are bugging the hell out of me:
1) Maggie’s time away from the show makes no sense. As far as she knew, Hilltop was a safe place to go. So why didn’t she go back after things fell apart with Georgie? She keeps talking about how much time she and Hershel spent on their own, but who decides roaming the apocalypse alone with a toddler is a better plan then raising him in a safe(ish) community with big, f-off walls?
2) Dog is useless. He is the Worst Boy. If a human was as useless and danger-provoking as him, Daryl would have shot them. Instead, he risks his life and abandons his team to save him. Dog needs to take a lesson from Shiva. She was an animal worth having.
What little things irk you about TWD?

[Spoilers] Plot points I never really understood in GOT
The whole incest shit.
I wouldn’t mind it if they only used it as they did in the first episode, with it being a sole reason to progress the story. But what I get hung up on is this weird acceptance of it afterwards.
Like when Jaime says “we don’t choose who we love” to brienne, and at this point we’re actually kinda supposed to like Jaime’s almost redeemed character so that message was always kinda weird to me.
Or at the end with Dany and Jon. Like, had Dany not turned bad, I think they would’ve tried to make that relationship work and honestly, they still did try before that even with the knowledge that she was Jon’s aunt.
Idk, anyone else?

What was the plan?
So, they need to go to Meridian and get food and supplies. They know the Reapers live nearby, and they know how big of a group the Reapers have. They know it will be very dangerous because of that group. So they need a plan, a tactic. They need fighters, just in case. They need to try and get in and out undetected, or scout the area out so they can build a defence or attack.
However, they didn't have a plan. They just brazenly walked around near Meridian, walked into Reaper territory without even trying to keep an eye out or be careful. They get attacked out in the very wide open. They scatter, have no plan to find each other in such event. No plan for getting help. Should they not have taken radios to contact each other? They need to get the food and supplies, so it's very important they survive to bring it back.
Then the plan for even getting to Meridian sucked. Maggie invited Negan to guide her group, then does the opposite of what he says. Clearly, she shouldn't have invited Negan because she's not fully open to working together. Instead of waiting out the storm, she elected for Daryl's stupid plan to go into a dark, flooding tunnel of walkers. Her team just blindly follow her.
She's stupid for telling Negan he's right, she wants to kill him and she's getting to closer to it. Then she expects he will save her life if she needs it. Negan was stupid for bringing up Glenn in the process and not at least checking she was dead when she fell. Roy and Gage were stupid for running off on their own. Her team acted stupid for blindly taking a dangerous journey without a plan. Now everyone's nearly dead. I can't work out what they planned to do about the Reapers if needed!

New to show, need some insight (season 7)
Hey everyone,
I have been watching 1 episode per day since season 1 and quite like the show the theme of it has been somewhat similar, killing walkers, in group drama, needing new home, killing walkers, dealing with small group of bad humans who want your stuff.
Yesterday, I watched season 7, episode 1 and got to know Negan a little better...
I am a huge wuss! When it comes to gore and violence, I'm OK with the walkers, less OK with the walkers eating people but I can handle it but yesterday's episode ( S7E1) was far too much for me and it was so out of character from what I had been watching for the last 6 seasons.
And I'm not bitching about the gore, I knew it was a horror show but what I want to know is. Is this new level of horror (human on human extreme gore) what I can expect going forward? Is season 7 a lot more of what we saw in the first episode?
Is episode 1 the worst of it?
I couldn't sleep last night because the episode upset me so much (yes I'm a wuss, I know)
So those of you who have seen the rest, should I just walk away now or will the season calm down?
Without spoiling the story, delicate and carefully worded spoilers requested

‘Sex Education’ season 3 is absolutely incredible
I just finished the last episode of the season and had to come here to comment, because I think it’s their best season yet. The amount of character development and growth in everyone was so impressive, especially for a cast this size. I’m still amazed that they’re able to balance so many different characters so well. It’s rare to find a show that can do that successfully. Just really great writing and storytelling throughout the season. Also, some of the supporting characters from previous seasons who I never thought much of, got bigger parts and did great. Honestly, I felt last season dragged for me, so I went in to this one not expecting much, but damn, I was blown away. Lots of truly funny, but also very emotional parts. I caught myself tearing up a few times. Just overall a great season, and I hope they get picked up for season 4.
