Theory about the Prince that was Promised and Azor Ahai

I have a theory which I believe makes sense and might carry on over to the books so here it goes......

In Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Melissandre is talking to Varys and says I have brought Ice and Fire together. I have had a long time to think about this and I believe everything I believe has at least a bit of the truth. In Season 7 Episode 2 Melissandre says that both Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen have a role to play in the prophecy of the Prince that was Promised, however she does not say that either of them are that Prince or Princess.

I believe that when Melissandre says I have brought Ice and Fire together she believes Jon Snow is the son of Eddard Stark and Lyanna Stark making him pure Ice whilst Daenerys is the Daughter Of Aerys Targaryen and Rhaella Targaryen making her Pure Fire, therefore it is my belief that Melissandre believes the role Jon and Daenerys have to play is giving birth to The Prince that was Promised, that child would be a child of Ice and Fire. When Melissandre asked Daenerys to summon Jon Snow she did that with the hope that they would both fall in love and have a child, which did happen, however what Melissandre didn’t know was their was already a child of Ice and Fire, Jon Snow.

Melissandre was right in some parts of the prophecy however I believe when Jon was resurrected she believed he would be the father of the Prophecy child, and Daenerys being the last KNOWN Targaryen had to be the mother as she was Pure Fire. It would make perfect sense to the viewers if they hadn’t known of Jon Snow’s true parents.

It is my belief that Jon Snow is the Prince that was Promised and Azor Ahai. The reason behind my belief that he is Azor Ahai is that in Season 5, Season 6 and Season 7 we see Jon Snow rallying people to fight with him against the Army of the Dead, he even manages to get the Free Folk to help him take Winterfell which was partly because of the Night King. In the books Thoros Of Myr says that ‘Great Power requires Great Sacrifice’ therefore it is my belief that Azor Ahai gave his life to stop the Army Of The Dead, however he did not give it because he was told to he gave his life because it was the right thing to do. In my opinion this belief reflects Jon Snow’s character, Jon would give his life to save the world, he was killed for bringing the Wildlings south and trying to help Stannis. Now onto Lightbringer, i believe in the books Jon will have to Sacrifice someone he loves to get the flaming sword, whether it is his lover Daenerys or his sisters Arya and Sansa (I know they’re technically his cousins), and that and Jon dying will be the sacrifice Thoros describes in the books.

Now onto the Prince that was Promised Jon is the son of Ice and Fire (Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen)whether he is a bastard or not doesn’t matter. Lyanna is the daughter of Rickard Stark and Lyarra Stark making her (in some ways) Pure Ice, Rhaegar is the son of Aerys Targaryen and Rhaella Targaryen making him Pure Fire, if you put the two together you get Ice and Fire or better known as Jon Snow. The Prophecy of the Prince that was Promised says that the Prince would be ‘Born amidst salt and smoke, beneath a bleeding star’. It is my belief that ‘Born amidst salt and smoke’ means two things, salt would be Lyanna Stark’s tears and smoke I’m not so sure on however ‘beneath a bleeding star’ references Ser Arthur Dayne as when Ned goes to Lyanna their is blood on the sword Dawn which is said to be forged from a fallen star.

From what I have written it is my belief that Jon Snow is the Prince that was Promised and Azor Ahai.

Thank you for reading,

Charlie
