just wanna start off by saying i haven’t read the books (planning to in the near future but it’s a daunting read) so i’m not sure if this is explained in more detail, although i’m pretty sure Dany (and by extension her dragons) havent met the WW yet. i find it a little odd that in the show, valyrian steel can kill the white walkers but dragon fire can’t, or at least it can’t kill the night king (been a while since i watched BoW so i’m not sure if Dany killed any of the other WW). I understand why dragonglass can kill them. dragonglass doesn’t have anything to do with dragons besides it’s name, it’s just obsidian. And it’s likely lethal to the White Walkers because it was used to make them. Valyrian steel, however, is metal made of dragon fire and magic. Dragons are magical fire breathing creatures so one would think a blast of raw dragon fire would be more than enough to take one of them out, but the night king at least was completely unaffected. Maybe it’s because of the type of magic used to craft valyrian steel. I’ve read that they were made with blood magic specifically (hence “fire and blood”) and dragons are not created (born? idk) blood magic, but i still find it odd that it wouldn’t affect them at all, considering dragon fire is one of two key ingredients used to craft weapons that are lethal against them. what do you guys think?
