I’m losing Mass Effect Legendary Edition time. I’m playing two campaigns simultaneously, so I try to play as often as I can. But tonight I thought I’d check out a Netflix movie I heard about called Anon. It stars Clive Owen and it seems interesting. It only came out a few years ago.
While watching I got to thinking. Didn’t Clive Owen retire from acting several years ago? He did. But then I remember reading that Steven Soderbergh convinced him to come out of retirement to do a Cinemax show called The Knick. I guess after that Owen decided to work some more, and thus the Netflix film, Anon.
As Anon kept going (it does seem interesting), I couldn’t keep my mind off The Knick, which I watched way back when it aired. I remember it being such a great show, but not one that is talked about a lot. Anyway, I stopped the movie and went to HBO max and started the first episode of The Knick.
I’m sadly not gonna be able to play Mass Effect tonight. Not tomorrow. Probably not for a minute. I’m a half hour into the first episode of The Knick and I’m already hooked. This show is simply mesmerizing. I love period films, and it scratches that itch in a way that only Gangs of New York did.
I know that a lot of people don’t know this show, and you’re probably all used to seeing random posts about it. But think of this: Clive Owen came out of retirement because Steven Soderbergh asked him to in order to do this show. Dude wasn’t even a TV actor!
Anyway, I suggest everyone to watch this show. It’s totally worth it.
