I know that there have been guesses of what these letters mean for some time now ... and I don't remember if any of the shows, or the showrunners, have confirmed what these mean as of yet. However, does anyone else think that it may be as follows:
- A - means "After" ... as in after bitten by a walker
- B - means "Before" ... as in someone who has not yet been bitten
I only mention this because I just watched Jadis take Rick out of their shipping container cell that she and the garbage people were holding him in wearing only his boxers. When Jadis brings him out she says that it is "time for After", and then she tries to have "Winston #2" or whatever that new spiky walker was, bite Rick.
Later on in the season, when it comes to Negan, Jadis says that she has an "A" to the CRM helicopter crew, and again, like with Rick before, she starts to attempt to get a walker to bite Negan.
In season 9, when Gabriel follows Jadis/Ann to the dump, she tells him all this time she thought he was a "B" .... then she knocks him out and ties him up, again probably looking for an "A".
Lastly, when Jadis/Ann finds Rick on the side of the river, she radios to the CRM helicopter that she has a "B" and that she never had an "A". So Rick, in this case here, was a "B".
In this scenario I don't get what the point of grabbing someone to trade to the CRM as a "B" would be**,** as they would have plenty of "B's" around them which they could use for whatever they wanted "B's" for I would think. Regardless, Jadis telling Rick it was "time for AFTER" in that episode where she tried to get him bit by the new spiky walker made me think that the whole A and B question could be as simple as "B for Before and "A" for After (being bit by a walker).
Does this make any sense? Has it already been answered and I just can't find it anywhere? Most of what I seem to find are opinions that A and B mean Leaders and Followers .... but I'm not sure that's what it actually is. Additionally, in World Beyond, there is a quick shot of a walker tied up in a lab with the markings of "TS" and "A" which further supports that "A" could mean "a test subject after being bitten/turned".
Anyone agree? Disagree? Do you have a different theory as to what A & B means on the show?
