I think this whole reboot was long planned, and might have even been well received and more praised if season 3 wasn’t as awesome as it was. After the very lackluster reactions to seasons 1 and 2 I think AMC wanted a reboot and started planning it, then season 3 was amazing, which I don’t think anybody higher up really counted on. I say this as someone who has actually enjoyed season 4, including loving episodes 1, 3 and 5. It just seems AMC jumped the gun and went with the reboot idea too fast.
