[No Spoilers] With a night to myself and after cracking the bottle of wine, I decided to give S8 a rewatch. I haven't seen its since the release. (Refused its existence). I'm glad I started it up again all to hear the following quote from Sansa.

"Without Littlefinger and Ramsay and the rest, I would've stayed a little bird all my life," she replied".

I really didn't care for Sansa's character in the end, not my favorite. However I am so proud of the strong female character she transformed into. She outlived Joeffrey, Ramsey, etc. She was beaten and taken advantage of.

Many women can relate to Sansa. I am one included. My past haunts me sometimes. Hearing the quote from Sansa again tonight was/is a great reminder. I am glad I am no longer the little bird. I'm glad I'm not the sheltered, meek, etc individual. Because of my experiences and who I encountered in life, it made me who I am today. A sometimes (working on it) strong & independent woman!

Thanks Sansa.

Some thoughts about Maggie and Georgie and The Reapers

Spoilers through first three episodes of 10C and last season of Fear.

There are really only two reasons for The Reapers to be following groups like Maggie's around and destroying their communities. The first reason is the less likely one: that they have a belief system that's something of a variant of The Whisperers. They don't believe that society should be rebuilt, even in primitive ways. Unlike The Whisperers, who more or less were trying to live like animals or at least said that was their whole thing, The Reapers do easily use pretty high-end gear and weaponry. They also don't seem to want to tell anyone what it is they are doing. People with philosophies like those of Alpha couldn't find enough people to monologue to about how the dead were the future, etc, etc.. So, it's more likely the second reason.

The second reason for The Reapers to be following around Maggie's group is for the strategic benefit of a larger group. This fits more in line with what we've seen of them. They react to being captured by killing themselves, which implies that Reaper soldiers feel a greater purpose-- a connection to a larger group. They are armed to the teeth and have no shortage of ammo. They also work, as far as we've seen, alone, which is fairly astounding when you consider that even though these people (the one we officially met and, if you want to count them in, Leah and Mays) are very capable people, it also is just kind of stupid to do anything alone in the zombie world. But if you were a larger group who basically didn't care that much about these people other than to use them for protection, you would be okay with losing a couple here and there in the name of keeping your home base free of pesky new people who might cause trouble. (This also is a factor of the idea that this group must be very large and therefore can view people as capable at survival and warfare as The Reapers are as expendable.)

It's also worth mentioning that if The Reapers are at all connected to the group trying to destroy the communities over on Fear-- and when Virginia caught one of them, it was exactly like the scene with Maggie on TWD-- then we are looking at a group of people that are spread out across the country and have been doing this for years. It's likely that this is connected to CRM more than it is to The Commonwealth but, at this point, it probably could be either, especially if the group on Fear is a parallel to The Reapers and not The Reapers themselves.

What strikes me as odd is how The Reapers kept finding Maggie. Obviously, if you were wanting to destroy groups that had built anything significant, Georgie and her people would be a primary target for you. They know what they are doing and if they become successful, they could easily create communities to overtake the ones The Reapers are protecting. But Maggie's story of what happened to her people implies to me that there's a far bigger danger around her than she realizes. Maggie tells of how the group would run with whatever survivors there were, if any, from place to place but The Reapers kept finding them. They even found Maggie when she took Hershel to her family's old beach house. There's only two possible explanations for this:

  1. Maggie, being a high-profile member of Georgie's group, is known to The Reapers and the community they protect enough that if any Reaper sees her, they know to immediately go after her because of what she's capable of building. This would imply massive infrastructure and advanced technology on the part of the community that's being protected because it involves dissemination of Maggie's picture on a large scale but we've seen that CRM could do this. Or...
  2. There's a mole in Maggie's group. One of the only ways that The Reapers could keep finding Maggie is if someone from her team is actually a plant for The Reapers.

Either way, these people are now seeing Maggie about to rebuild Alexandria and that puts the whole home base of the show in peril. The fact that Alexandria was already trashed by The Whisperers is probably the only thing keeping The Reapers from attacking right away, buying the main characters time to get on their feet and assess the threat.

As for why the groups are allowed to build something before it's destroyed by The Reapers.. the people behind The Reapers believe that it's better to let people feel like they have hope and are making progress and see if they develop anything of value before deciding whether or not to annex or destroy (and it's almost always destroy). The point is that it's easier to control large groups of people if you aren't just killing everyone in sight because, one day, you'll miss someone who will find another group and tell them about you and those groups could get larger and pose an actual threat. Best to be more stealth about it, is the philosophy of The Reapers and their people. Also, that all sounds more CRM to me and I think that's the point. The main group is going to get involved with The Commonwealth more in S11, for better or worse. The alliance is going to be tricky but maybe necessary when they realize that the threat they're up against with The Reapers is a community much more advanced and larger than even The Commonwealth. Without The Commonwealth, they won't have a prayer (which is likely how our main characters are going to end up running The Commonwealth by the end of the season.) All of this then leads into the whole unified TWD universe plot of CRM-- connecting together Fear and World Beyond and Rick's story to the main plot.

Of corse she would want to sit in the iron throne it’s a understandable flaw. Some call when spoiled even though she grew up litterly having nothing and suddenly gained power. SHE IS NOT SPOILED SHE HAD NOTHING. JON SNOW COMPLAINS ABOUT BEING A BASTARD EVEN THOUGH HES RICH AND GREW UP PRIVILEGED. They complain about her being carried by her dragons even thought Jon snow would be dead if it wasn’t for Ned keeping a secret. Everyone in game of thrones would be powerless without allies please stop blaming dany for using her dragons too much.

[SPOILERS] Hold the Door

For me my favorite moment “oh shit” moment of the series was finding out hodors backstory and the meaning of hold the door. I think the scene of Bran escaping the night king and the parallel to the past with his dad and hodor was such a cool crossover. Hodor was a character that was always there and he was kind of overlooked and unimportant. But it showed right then and there that he was so so important. He was Brans protector. And it was really cool to see how important and powerful Brans powers were, whether you liked that part of him or not. There are so many of these type of moments in game of thrones but to me this is my favorite and the one I think about the most.

[spoilers] Did this Merrett Frey story happen in the Show?

I've listened to the audiobooks many times, but haven't seen the show. I probably won't see the show until after the last book is out or ruled out.

I would like to know if this scene appears in some form in the show. Season and episode would be appreciated.

Please and thank you.

Book spoiler:

Merret Frey is sent to deliver the ransom for Petyr Pimple and is captured by the King's Men (Brotherhood without Banners?). I am specifically interested in this exchange:

"No," Merrett squealed loudly. "No, don't, I gave you your answer, you said you'd let me go."

"Seems to me that what I said was I'd tell them to let you go." The singer looked at yellow cloak. "Lem, let him go."

"Go bugger yourself," the big outlaw replied brusquely.

Just finished 'Resident Alien': easily one of the funniest shows I have watched in ages!

Not even sure if its primarily supposed to be a comedy or not, but holy shit was this funny!

HIs obsession with L & O, his bizarre attempts to appear normal, his confusion and struggle with feeling with and dealing with human emotions, etc, it all made for ample comedic fodder.

Most of the time when I watch comedy I snort a bit, or chuckle, or whatever. But this show had me literally laughing full belly laughs out loud.

There is one character (likable and innocent) he attempts to kill multiple times, and somehow the writers succeeded at making that plot point hilarious

Tudyk is just totally on point and the perfect person to play this role. I am a bit concerned about how it ended and if that will disturb the dynamic of the show going forward, but I can't wait for S2!

[Spoilers] Jon Snows Fate.

Jon Snow certainly has one of the most interesting journeys on Game of Thrones and a lot happens to this character along the way. But something I find interesting about Jon’s journey is how little he makes the decisions that affect him personally. A lot of the time, he is the only man for the job, or is forced into going along with plans.

Just to go through some of these moments, I’ll heavily summarise. I am working just from memory so apologies for any mistakes here.

Season One: - Put as a personal Steward to Lord Commander Mormont, denied a place as a Ranger. - Lord Commander Mormont chooses to go North of the Wall with the Night’s Watch and Jon, as personal Steward must go.

Season Two: - Is granted temporary place among Rangers. - Gets captured by Wildlings - Forced into killing Qhorin (by Qhorin himself) in order to gain trust among the Wildlings and gather information.

Season Three: - Falls in love with Ygritte. (I don’t think you really get to choose how you fall in love with.) - Still going along with Qhorins plan, is forced to betray Ygritte to return to The Wall and brief the Night’s Watch on what he has learned.

Season Four: - Mistrust and disbelief in Jon’s story that he was following Qhorins plan. - Due to inept and injured leadership during The Battle of the Wall, Jon is chosen as the natural person to lead the Night’s watch with the defence atop the Wall (for a short time) and later on the ground. - Saved from almost certain death by the arrival of Stannis and his army.

Season Five: - Against his will is put in the election for Lord Commander. - Through no choice of his own, Jon is elected as the 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. - As Lord Commander, he is now the best and only person that can convince the Wildlings to leave Hardhome and trust in his plan for the future battle against the dead. - Betrayed by his Brothers, Jon is murdered.

Season Six: - Jon is brought back to life against his will (obviously). - Sansa arrives at Castle Black, convincing Jon that he is the only person that can lead an army to take back Winterfell from the Bolton’s because of his lineage and now the eldest living (then believed to be) son of Ned. - Successfully defeating the Bolton’s and retaking Winterfell, through no choice of his own, Jon is named King in the North.

Season Seven: - Now King in the North, he must answer the a summons to Dragonstone. - At Eastwatch, being one of a small few who has killed a White Walker, and having a good knowledge of the land beyond the wall, he feels compelled to go on the mission to capture a wight.

Season Eight: - No longer King in the North, but is still an unofficial leader for the army of the living. - Finally learns his true lineage, something he had no control over. Puts him in a difficult position. - Is now compelled to help Dany with her conquest of Westeros. - Is forced to come between his own men and the common folk of Kings Landing, as his own men are murdering innocents. - Through conversation with Tyrion and a brief conversation with Dany, realising he has no choice, Jon is forced to kill the woman he loves and the woman he named his Queen. - Because of his actions, he sentenced back to The Wall and banished from Westeros.

Which, bring us right back to where Jon wanted to be all along, free of any titles bestowed upon him Ranging North of the Wall. But through all of these events and other peoples choices (some are his own of course) his goes on this journey and because a major part of history in Westeros.

To summarise, this is not a criticism of Jon Snow, I’m a big fan of the character and perhaps controversially where he ended up at the end. He never wanted the throne, he wanted freedom and he finally got it. I just find it interesting how little choice he had in what happened to him in some major parts of the story, and this is the only place to talk about it.

As I said, I was just going off of my memory here, so I may have missed things or made a mistake so apologies. I tried to format it as simply as I could to make it easier to read, so I hope that helped. This was a long as post, so if you read even some of it, then thank you!

[NO SPOILERS] Started reading G.O.T.

So I have always heard how GOT is one of the greatest TV shows ever (besides the ending I’ve heard). But I never really had any way of watching the show since I’m a broke college student. From all the clips of the show I’ve seen on social media, I always thought It had a LOTR or The Hobbit mood. Anyways, one of my friends just finished the series and loved it, and said I could use his HBO account. And then a few days ago I stumbled upon the GOT book I got for Christmas and I started reading. I’m about 60 pages in and I find myself constantly looking up characters to see who their family is and what house they are apart of and to overall get a better understanding of the story but I accidentally found out some stuff that I shouldn’t have involving Jon Snow. Is there any websites or YouTube videos that do a sort of introduction without spoiling anything? And also, I would ideally like to finish all the books before I watch the tv series but I don’t have a lot of time to read during the day so it would take me a while. Would it be worth it? And how far does the tv series go in the books? If I remember right there are 5 books and Martin is working on a sixth.

Thanks.

[SPOILERS] what did you think of the final season/ending

I finished the show exactly a week ago and honestly the ending was not AS bad as everyone said it was as GOT is still my favorite show but it was certainly bad. I didn’t like how the battle of the whitewalkers ended and that we barely got to see the night king fight, i also disliked the way cersei and jaime ended, how jons character became subjected to one line only and how he went back to the wall and Danerys end. The biggest problem i have is that the final season was so rushed and that really ruined the show, I have more to say but i’ll let you guys do the ranting

[NO SPOILERS] Could the show have been even much better if it had been directed by someone with a lot more experience and skill?

Please take this question with a grain of salt and explain like I'm five, as there isn't a lot of research behind it yet, but rather for now it is just a simple combination of certain information I picked up here and there.

-

Having watched several videos and reviews about why GoT had to end and why the last season was as terrible as it was, one of the core reasons, which everyone mentioned was that the people who ran the show were Dumb&Dumber (David Benioff & Dan Weiss) who apparently weren't really experienced at all, especially with such a big project. And the vidmakers asked themselves why HBO would choose them for such a big project.

Then why did the show (or at least the first few seasons were very good) turn out to be so damn good?.. you might ask yourself now, same as I do.

I suppose it was because (and probably ONLY because) the story was already there, in the books. I guess following a set story and script is probably very easy, or so it seems? But now I'm asking myself, if these clowns, who managed to crash this whole thing into what it sadly became, still managed to direct the first few seasons into THAT, how could the first seasons have become if they were directed by someone better, someone good, someone with a lot of experience in making epic shows?

And still, I also ask, how did Dumb&Dumber manage to create those first few seasons? I'm having a hard time to believe that it was actually them. What's wrong there? Was it only possible thanks to the books, or did they actually do a good job in the beginning?

Thank you

I think the moment TWD lost its "realistic" tone/streak was by the second episode of the 7th season (since then it's been full on comicbook-lite)

TWD is obviously based around comics, but they took multiple creative liberties, either good or bad, and as a result of multiple factors (actual ideas, reinventions, or just poor planning). Still, I think it managed to stay consistently "realistic" as far as a show like TWD can be in relation to the comics. Characters like Michonne, Merle and the Governor were the farthest we'd had with less realistic characters but they still had a realistic edge and they focused on making them human instead of over the top. The same was true for Negan–but only during the Season 6 finale and Season 7 premiere, where like Michonne and the Governor he was portrayed as a similar but much more toned down and realistic take on the comic character (and was a lot more obviously evil which differentiated the TV and comic versions). Even the Terminus crew and the Wolves didn't feel particularly comicbooky but seemed like actual horrific threats one could find in humanity and a post apocaliptic world. The only thing I'd say was unrealistic as hell from Season 1 to Season 7, Episode 1 being the CDC exploring which felt like a Season 7/8/9 over the top thing, and maybe Eugene felt a lot like a comic/unrealistic character with his speech patterns but I could live with it since it was only him and he was more subdued than latter seasons.

However, one episode after The Day Will Come When You Won't Be, it's when I think the show went full comic book. Ezekiel and Shiva appeared almost exactly as portrayed in the comics, a man pretending to be a King with an actual tiger (no major deviations like previous character versions), as well as his "Knights" wearing armor and riding horses. IIRC the whole reason Robert Kirkman created the Kingdom was to go more "out there" than the show but then they added them with no differences compared to the comics anyways. More glarring is Negan's drastic character shift from Season 6 and Season 7's premiere into a full on comical and less threathening cartoony character (much like Ezekiel) instead of the cold and psychotic man the show portrayed him as initially, as well as the introduction of the Scavengers (which ironically aren't from the comics). The aftermath of The Day Will Come When You Won't Be also marked a sort of end to the more gritty, morally ambiguous and dark portrayals and writing of everything that came before, and started to focus more on the characters becoming all moral, and more on politics and gunfights than the horror and survival themes (which obviously isn't bad per se but wasn't executed so well during Seasons 7 and 8).

Still, I feel even with the more comic booky and fantastic elements, Seasons 9 and 10 are really solid and awesome (with the only thing that bugged me being the satellite).

What do you think?

Shane OCD Theory

(I’m no psychologist or expert. Everything here is just my own original and interesting opinion to entertain, so let me know your thoughts about it.)

Here are some signs of OCD, they all sound like Shane to me: Compulsive behavior, agitation, hyper-vigilance, ritualistic behavior, impulsivity, repetitive movements, social isolation, anxiety

After looking back at seasons 1 and 2, I believe there is a strong possibility that Shane suffered from some form or type of OCD, to at least some degree. Here are some of my pieces of supporting evidence:

-His first scene, an obscure, overly passionate, and even almost obsessive tirade about turning off light switches. This shows agitation, ritualistic behavior, anxiety, and hyper vigilance This definitely seems odd: Light Switches

-Catastrophic Thinking, Anxiety, Hyper Vigilance When Lori walks off, Shane instantly thinks that Carl will perceive this as Lori abandoning him in life: https://youtu.be/7PRTUSUqsQw[Lori Abandonment](https://youtu.be/7PRTUSUqsQw)

-Compulsive behavior, Impulsivity Shane putting his gun on Rick—seems somewhat like an intrusive thought that people with OCD suffer from: Intrusive Thought

-Compulsive behavior, Impulsivity, Hyper Vigilance, Black and White thinking When Shane catches Ed slap his wife Carol, Shane immediately resorts to almost beating Ed to death and threatens to murder him in a moments notice (Which was admittedly awesome) But really shows how compulsive and Impulsive Shane is. Also consider this, no other characters are AS hyper vigilant as Shane, quick to violence/murder threats, especially not this quick in the show. For example, Rick ponders for a week about killing Randall even though it would totally be justified. In later seasons, the Hilltop group takes SEASONS to finally decide to execute Gregory. Hell, they even keep Negan alive. But Shane is ready to flat out murder Ed at the drop of a hat. Ed’s beating

-Repetitive movements, ritualistic behavior Shane’s constant head scratching Nervous Tick that we see throughout the seasons. May seem like a minor detail, but what other characters do we see doing things like this..?: Head Scratching

-Anxiety, Hyper Vigilance The discovery of walkers in the barn— The barn is secure and doesn’t pose an immediate threat, members of the group besides Shane understand this. Of course, all members of the group are rightfully very concerned and want to take some form of nuanced action after discussing and weighing options, but Shane? Shane immediately jumps to Black and White thinking saying “We either need to go in there right now and kill all of the walkers, or leave the farm this very instant.” Walkers in Barn ALSO: We see in at least 1-2 other scenes Shane keeps checking to see if the barn is still locked People with OCD are known for obsessively double/triple checking locks

-Lack of Empathy, Compulsive Behavior, Impulsivity in this scene casually screaming that Sophia is dead to her mother, killing The Farm group’s undead family right in front of them regardless of how traumatic it may be Walkers Killed

-Catastrophic Thinking, Anxiety After their discovery of Sophia in the barn, Shane instantly jumped to the worst case scenario conclusion that the Farm Group knew about Sophia in the barn despite no evidence: You knew all along

-Shane’s absolute obsession with Lori. It is not healthy or normal. It seems like rumination and completely abnormal

-Anxiety, Hyper Vigilance, Impulsivity, Obsession as far as the Prisoner Randall goes. Again, as viewers, Shane is obviously right that they should execute Randall. But Shane is way too eager to kill Randall too quick. Shane soon became obsessed with Randall and Shane compulsively hatched a plan within a few minutes to murder Randall and Rick impulsively in the woods.

I think Shane was right about a fair amount of opinions he held and decisions he made given their apocalyptic scenario in order to survive, but far too much seems ‘off’ about him and his personality. Maybe if not OCD, perhaps another personality disorder? Remember juvenile misbehavior is a red flag (Backstory of Shane stealing the principal’s car and ruining it on a whim)

All I know is this, Shane is not mentally healthy, and something is even ‘off’ or different about him, even pre-dating the apocalypse.

Let me know what you think of my analysis. Again, I am no expert.

Let’s talk about the dumbest decision the show ever made (Open discussion)

The dumbest thing the show ever did was kill off one of the most important characters in the entire show. This character would be none other than Carl Grimes. I believe Scott gimple killing him off because “it’s just where i thought the story needed to go” is a complete cop out. Chandler Riggs already stated a number of times he never got killed off because of college. ⚠️SPOILER⚠️ in the comics we know Carl never died and actually marries Sophia, has a child and lives out the rest of his days. While yes the show has made major difference from the comics, killing off Carl throws off the entire franchise. He had more potential to be unlocked and more development and growth as a character to be done not to mention he was only a kid at the end of the day being somewhere around 15-17 at the time of his death. Weather you liked or hated him I believe the show truly died with Carl, leaving the majority of fans only to watch for carol and Daryl now. How did you guys feel about his death? And where do you think he’d be now if he was still alive?

[SPOILERS] OK, so these are my favourite 5 characters. Yes it is shocking for some and I reserve the right to change my mind

  1. Ramsay Bolton - Consistently consistent throughout the whole series - those eyes 👀

  2. The Hound - “lot’s of people name their swords!” “Lots of c*%ts” - just wow

  3. The Imp - would have been a shoe in for number one except for the idiotic train wreck that was the last season

  4. Daenerys- a badass is a badass. Especially a hot badass.

  5. Arya - needs no explanation (again would have been a shoe in for number 1,2 or 3 but then... the final series)

I dare any of you to make a better list than this

Still don't understand Andrea

Re-watching for the third time and I'm currently in late season 3 and I still can't see why Andrea won't look through the Governor. Even after Shane, and the Governor's constant and apparent lies she still won't do anything. Would've liked it if they tried to expand her character arc beyond a chick with bad judgment, trigger-happy, and constantly trying to prove herself.

Honestly, Gregory got on my nerves every single time he was on screen. Simon was an amazing antagonist but also extremely irritating with how much he liked power tripping. So much people would still be alive if it wasn’t for Henry’s stupidity. If I had to pick one amongst all of these characters who I hated, I’d pick Gregory. The actor who played him did an amazing job of making me hate his character especially when he tried to kill Maggie. If you guys have other characters in mind, comment it please.

Carol

Anyone else really not like Carol? I mean she’s ok but she honestly has made some of the dumbest and group harming decisions out of most of character’s , it’s easy to understand why Daryl is becoming less and less forgiving with her ( Ultimately will work out fine given the spin off they are getting ). Like I get she has lost people including two of her own children ( I didn’t buy Henry, Ezeqiuel and Carol , Henry was already at an age where I can’t see him properly seeing them as his mom and dad , that also might just be a personal thing ) but she’s not the only one who’s lost people. She just can’t deal with her shit in an acceptable manner. I believe her and Daryl are similar in that manner I just believe Daryl has more control over it , especially after the s7 premier.

I've been watching both The OC and Arrested Development and there so many similarities between the two shows its uncanny.

This is like my 3rd time watching The OC and I've lost count of how many times I've watched AD, but I don't think I've paired them together before. Both began airing on Fox in 2003 and while I'm not going to make the effort to figure out the timing of how the seasons/episodes lined up there are so many similarities that I'm convinced they were playing off of each other.

The obvious ones:

  • They're both set in Newport Beach
  • The actual "The OC" joke in Arrested Development (Don't call it that)

Then, here's the observations I've written down as I've been going through The OC:

  • The family owns a real estate development company.
  • There's a model home that Ryan moves in to. He lives in it very briefly before it burns down.
  • When Caleb has to step down as CEO of The Newport Group, he names his wife to take over for him, who knows nothing about the business, instead of his daughter who has worked there forever and was expecting to take over.
  • After Jimmy Cooper loses all his money, he ends up living on a boat. At one point when he's hooking up with Julie he asks her "Are we making a huge mistake?"
  • Volchok shows up in Marissa's room and says "just got back from my little trip down Mexico way."
  • Caleb hires a PI to spy on his wife. Could it have been Gene Parmesan? He's the best so we would never know.
  • Kirsten has a drinking problem and has to go to rehab.
  • In season 3, the high school the kids go to gets a Dean of Discipline. This is basically no different than a Discipline Daddy.
  • Adopted family incest. Ryan is adopted by the Cohens and gets involved with both Marissa and Lindsay. Because Marissa's mom married Kirsten's dad, I think that makes Marissa his step aunt? And Lindsay is Kirsten's half sister so she's his half-aunt?
  • Julie hooks up with Luke, her daughter's ex boyfriend. AD didn't go quite this far - Lindsay only flirted with Steve Holt.

This is what I've got so far. I'm sure there's more and if you have anything to add I would love to hear them!

[Spoilers] if HBO wanted to make a bonus 9th Season in a few years time, I'd actually be pretty excited for it, despite how the show ended.

TV rivivals are all the rage at the moment, and given HBO is looking to expand on the works of George RR Martin with five (!!) Potential spinoffs it's clear they are not done with Thrones yet. If in the years to come it was announced that a new season of the main show is coming as an epilogue / bonus season, I'd actually be hugely excited and welcome it with open arms.

I know the show lost it a little by the end, but there's a lot of people (myself included) who enjoyed most of not all of the show, despite it's flaws. Some of the decisions in the final episode certainly left me with questions, but I don't think that's a bad thing, and definitely think it opens up more storylines in the future.

I think on a practical level it could work also. Many of the major stars who would most likely not want to return are out of the picture, a lot of the side characters and younger cast members are still around and have time to appear again, or in Peter Dinklage's (and other remaining big stars) case, a chance for top billing and lots of juicy screentime that maybe they didn't get towards the end of the show.

I don't think it would really feel out of place either - there's still a lot of loose ends, and it feels like there is room for expansion with a time-jump to explore the new world and see the aftermath of the show. I think it would really allow for some redemption also, working towards explaining some of the more baffling choices in Season Eight.

Some of my initial thoughts about things a Season 9 can explore - * In general, how is Bran as king? Given he's such an odd choice, it would be really interesting to see how such a person/being has fared, as well as how the general people react to him. * Is the North still independent? How do the other kingdoms react to that, and Bran allowing it to happen? Does Sansa have an heir or does she rule alone? * Who is the new prince of Dorne? And did Ellaria die for good? * has Bran managed to keep peace in the Reach after Highgarden was given to Bronn above other noble houses? * was Drogon ever found, and if so, what was done about him? * Did the Iron Islands stay Loyal to Bran, after being promised independence by Daenerys? * What became of Mereen? Did Daario/the second sons remain in control, or was the city taken back? * Has the night's watch been reformed, and is the wall permanently broken?

In general I'd love to see what became of Sam Jr, Gendry, Meera, Robin Arryn and other minor characters, to see what they've been upto this whole time.

Would you be open to another suprise season? And if six what plotlines would you like to see resolved? Go crazy.

Think about it.

So... I assume you guys know how the comic run ended, but let me just recap that real quick... Not the story, the real-life stuff... So, there were fake covers for issues beyond 193, 'cause they kept the ending a secret... You already know this, what the fuck am I getting at?

Well, I find that amazing! Nowadays we know too much about everything way before it happens, and that takes the magic away... We know that Andy is gonna be in that movie trilogy, and we've known this for years, and I would love it better if they just up and announced the movie when it's done "surprise: here's a movie for ya" and then right at the end "surprise: it's gonna need a sequel"... But that's not easy to accomplish nowadays, is it? I mean, Breaking Bad kept El Camino a secret right up until the end so...

Anyway, let me get to my point... It's taking me a long time to get there, but if you watch TWD your are used to this, so, there's that :)

I have a theory! It's more of a wish, really...

Consider the tv show... You can't just up and end a show without warning all of a sudden: "surprise: last episode"... That's why we know how many eps are left and everything... But what else do we know? Carol and Daryl are gonna get a spin-off! Well... We also knew there was a cover for issue 194, know what I mean? What if there is no Daryl and Carol spin-off and they are doing this so we think they will get to live and they just kill them off in the finale? That. Would. Be. Brilliant.

I love Daryl as much as the next guy, and that is why I think we shouldn't force these characters on a different show and should just give this show a proper ending, so, like I said, wishful thinking. But I would absolutely love it if my theory would be right!

What do you think?

TL/DR: I believe (wish) the Daryl/Carol spin-off is just a ruse

[SPOILERS] 🐉Most Deranged Targaryens To Watch Out For In 'THE HOUSE OF DRAGONS.' 🐉

House Of Dragons

So it is not a secret that after arriving Westeros from Valyria in Essos to escape the doom, the last surviving Targaryens settled at Dragonstone. There they grew powerful and eventually swayed some houses of the Westerosi to their side. Thus then eventually beginning to war against the already existing kings of the then ununified kingdoms of Westeros (The kings in the Northern most kingdoms, The Baratheon Stormkings of the StormLands, the Westerland kings, the kings of the Vale, the Isle and Mountains, the Reach, Dornish principality and the entire fold). They eventually conquered all the kingdoms with the exception of Dorne - as we know it from the books (It was the Baratheons who eventually got the Dornish to serve the Iron throne, the Targaryens always suffered heavy casualties whenever they sort to envelope the southern most kingdom).

Jaime Lannister on his way to slay King Aerys II in 'A Game Of Thrones.'

Members of the House Targaryen are often known for their mental instability coupled which quick irrational temperament. This is caused by ceaseless oedipal breeding of siblings for over three centuries. Of course those information or potential misinformation about the lineage of the Targaryens will finally be opened out for 'Song Of Ice And Fire' fans to see for themselves in 'The House Of Dragons.'

An example was the films series' patron figure of the house (Aerys).

i. Aerys II, otherwise known as the 'Mad King' or 'The King Scab', who heard strange voices in his head that told him to burn people alive with wildfire (a Targaryen weapon) because they presumably planned to kill and overthrow him. At the pick of his mental deterioration, he was known to keep nails as long as his digits.

He wasn't always mad. It wasn't until his voyage to Dorne - still trying to convince the Dornish to bend the knee, like the sixteen other Targaryen kings before him that tried to accomplish this - where he was captured and imprisoned for a period until the knight 'Sir Dunken the tall', came with a royal army and demanded his release. It was on getting to the Red Keep he decided not to venture outside it's walls again eventually growing paranoid and deranged overtime.

King Aerys II, The Seventeenth Targaryen King.

Targaryens would often exhibit strange characters or different forms of mental disturbances even at the pick of their reign. From hallucinations or hearing voices, to psychosis, schizophrenia & sociopathic behaviors. Almost all the children of Aegon II had one mental turbulence or the other.

ii. The second member to expect a cameo from is King Baelor 'The Blessed'. Who was overzealously obsessed with the 'religion of the seven' and spiritual sanctification. Though he practiced the religion right and justly, he did go overboard in some overzealous gestures of holiness - he was a septon as well. He died while fasting in his believe that food was also a material possession.

King Baelor 'The Blessed', The Ninth Targaryen King.

Even when alive, he once went to free a friend of his from the Dornish enemy kingdom, and after being informed that he had to enter a snake pit to rescue his adviser, he somehow believed the 'seven gods' would protect him from the danger and apparently ventured into the pit of snakes towards his friend's cell while repeatedly being struck by the serpents time and time again, before he was eventually rescued and treated immediately. In case you did not know, he also trekked to Dorne bare foot.

iii. Prince Aerion nicknamed Brightflame, was the son of King Maekar Targaryen and nephew of the Prince Rhaegel. He drank a burning bowl of wildfire, believing it would turn him into a dragon, but the flames melted his oesophagus and killed the deluded prince instantly. According to Wiki Of Ice And Fire,

'' Known for his cruelty and his sadistic personalty, Aerion liked to style himself as Aerion Brightflame, but is best remembered as Aerion the Monstrous or as The Prince Who Thought He Was a Dragon after drinking a cup of wildfire''.

Prince Aerion nicknamed 'Brightflame', was supposed to be the fifteenth Targaryen King.

iv. Prince Rhaegel, The elder brother of Maekar (Prince Aerion 'Brightflame's father) was supposed to be the fourteenth Targaryen King, but the throne later passed to Maekar (Prince Aerion 'Brightflame's father) because of Prince Rhaegel's mental condition. In one the books, it was said of Rhaegel's mental condition which coursed him to dance nude about halls of the Red Keep.

v. The fifth on our list is King Maegor 'the Cruel'. Who was the second son and successor of Aegon I (who first conquered the seven kingdoms). He began to display traits of psychopathic behavior when he murdered all the workers who built the Red keep of KingsLanding, so that nobody would expose the secret passage ways and exits that were secretly added to the plan of the castle (talk about cruel). This same passage ways Tyrion Lannister took the Lannister soldiers through as they attacked the besieging Stannis Baratheon in the 'Battle of black water bay'. It was in this same passage ways Arya Stark overhead Lord Varys' and Illyrio Mopatis' conversations about the brewing violence about to erupt, during the time of 'A Game Of Thrones'. He also murdered his nephew at one point in time. He was involved in various conflicts and confrontations all through his reign, He eventually committed suicide in later years and died.

Maegor 'The Cruel', The third Targaryen King.

vi. We can not talk about the 'Dance Of Dragons' without talking about King Aegon II. According to Fandom Of Ice And Fire, Aegon was married to his younger sister, Helaena Targaryen and had three children by her, though none reached adulthood. During the Dance, Aegon took a three-headed golden dragon for his personal sigil instead of the red three-headed Targaryen dragon, indicating his mount. Aegon's supporters used his personal heraldry as their battle-flag. Almost all the children of Aegon II had one mental turbulence or the other, he is one of the major dysfunctional ruler from the House Targaryen and an anchor character in House Of Dragons.

Aegon II, The sixth Targaryen King.

Finally for the seventh on our list. We will turn two into one and give you, the mental twins themselves. Viserys & Daenerys Targaryen.

Viserys & Daenerys Targaryen years before 'A Game Of Thrones'.

Prince Viserys Targaryen, second son of Aerys II, Sold his sister to a Dothraki warlord in exchange for an army to go after his father's throne (No love lost between them there). But how irrational was he to believe a Dothraki king would grant him an army just to marry his sister. He got killed for defying the sacred law by bringing a weapon into the sacred hall (honestly, everyone was actually fed up) where the horselords feasted, and threatening to kill his sister who had already fallen in love with the Dothraki horselord. A molten magma of gold from the horselord's belt was poured on his head and it killed him instantly.

Queen Daenerys Targaryen, daughter of the Mad king and twin sister of Viserys, and younger sister of Raeghar, Later became the 'Mad Queen' as well. Even though she was good willed in her intentions, she committed series of atrocities that defied her own code of conduct. which eventually lead her to die. The End.

About Season 10C

If you are expecting some plot development, please read this. TL;DR is at the bottom.

Season 10C EPISODES ARE NOT MEANT TO DEVELOPE THE PLOT

I am really tired of people in the episode threads and the critics on websites like IMDB complaining about how these episodes are boring and filler and doesn't develop the plot at all. Well I have a suprise for you, these episodes are meant to be filler so don't expect and plot continuity. Season 11 was already written and scripted by the time they were shooting Season 10C so if you are waiting for the main story to continue, please wait for Season 11 and don't waste your time, I'm serious. These episodes will be a waste of time for you if you are looking for main story. Instead watch recaps on Youtube or read the episode discussiouns, you will understand just by reading them, trust me. There isn't much going on in the episodes since there are only one or two people in an episode except for 10x17. If you really want some main story, you can also watch just 10x17 and probably 10x22 and you will be fine. I admit there isn't much character development either. 10x21 for example was the same stuff we watched over the years and you would be completely fine if you skipped it and you wouldn't miss a thing. But I have been a fan of this show since 2016 and I never felt so connected to another TV Show. I watched so many better shows than The Walking Dead but it still has a special place in my heart. So I really don't mind these episodes and I am fine with watching them. I like the characters and I still would watch it even if there weren't any character development in the episode too, again 10x18 and 10x21 for example. So please just either don't watch these episodes as they are a waste of time for you if you are looking for main story and just wait for Season 11 which is supposedly coming out this summer. Or you can just watch these episodes for the characters, like I do and just enjoy the episodes. You are getting your expectations too high if you are waiting for a main story. Which is why these episodes are getting so much hate. Even when they were advertising 10C they never said these episodes would affect the main story. So I don't get why you would expect it even when they didn't talk about it.

TL;DR: If you are waiting for a main story in 10C, do yourself a favor and don't watch them as they are a waste of time and don't contain any main plot aspects. Instead just wait until Season 11 and stop typing how these episodes are filler on every damn episode discussion thread.

Ideas for “Tales of the Walking Dead”

Here are some story ideas I had for episodes:

  1. BETA - I think there’s a lot of potential with this character who, despite already being dead, I feel still had a lot of untapped potential. Having the episode flash back between the very beginning of the apocalypse and his time in Rehab with his friend as the world collapses, and then flash forward a bit to the very early days building up the whisperers with Alpha. I think there’s an interesting juxtaposition to explore with the idea of rehabilitation. When Beta came to the centre it was because he (presumably) was unable to properly function in the world, and needed to try to “evolve”. You could create an interesting contrast between the positive emotional connection he had with his friend that grounded him at the centre and how this relationship informed Beta’s worldview at that time, with the toxic subservience he later has to Alpha as she essentially guides him on his rehabilitation/de-evolution into becoming an animal.

  2. GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - according to TWD wiki, Grady Memorial Hospital fell and everyone died by the 5 year jump. Although the storyline in S5 was polarising, there’s enough raw potential in the location and context of the story to make for an interesting episode.

  3. THE SAVIOURS - Although we’re getting “Here’s Negan” next week which should give us a new lot of information that will inform how we view him, I think it’s going to be more based on how Negan as a person became the cold sociopath that we met in 6x16, as opposed to “this is how Negan met Dwight, this is how the saviours started, this is how Negan got in charge etc”. I don’t think much of that story will be really explored, so I think telling that story from Dwight’s perspective (with the context of having also seen “Here’s Negan”) would make for a very compelling TV episode.

  4. DANTE - might seem random but a 90 minute episode about Dante would be amazing. You could start off a year or 2 into the apocalypse when his son is still alive, and slowly see this truly good man allow his morals and worldview to become corrupted. You could also further explore his PTSD, and the toll that war left on him by having a couple flashbacks of someone (perhaps a psychologist) who was significant in helping Dante deal with his trauma, and who Dante would naturally strongly associate with Siddiq. I think this would add some layers to their relationship in S10 from Dante’s perspective, as in Dante was genuinely trying to be the friend that helped him at one point in his life, and trying to pay that forward. By the end of the episode, we’d have a vicious and cold hearted Dante who has no faith or optimism left anymore. However, when re-watching S10 we would now see that maybe Dante’s humanity was starting to rekindle a little bit.

That’s all the ideas I’ve got the moment, what about u guys?

S10 E21 “Diverged” Thoughts

I posted this in the comments of the episode’s discussion thread but it’s a bit long winded for a comment so I figured I’d make a separate post.

I want to preface this by saying that I mean no disrespect to people who enjoyed this episode, let alone the many people involved in the writing and production of this episode. I have worked in the film and television industry consistently for the past decade so I understand that there are a lot of moving parts in a production and sometimes a story can look great on paper and somewhere along the way it just doesn’t translate to being “successful” on screen. I also understand that this episode was produced early on in the pandemic before protocol had been firmly established for film sets so I can appreciate that there were limitations in the story they could tell.

All that being said, this was the least successful piece of storytelling I’ve witnessed in a really long time. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what the episode was trying to say that we didn’t learn from the previous Daryl/Carol episode or at some other point in the show and all I can come up with is “Daryl and Carol are affected by their falling out”. Even that’s a bit of a stretch because nothing that happened to them during this episode was the result of their fractured relationship. Carol was trying to make food for the community to somehow redeem herself after a series of unilateral, selfish decisions that put other people in danger but she kept getting sidelined by a pest problem as well as the pitfalls of solar energy. How is that analogous to the state of her relationship with Daryl or anything to do with anything that’s currently happening in the series for that matter. The same goes for Daryl’s part of the episode that was even less significant to the story (or his character progression for that matter). He goes on an absurdly mundane quest to find a replacement part for a damaged part on his motorcycle. I’ve been putting off replacing the windshield wipers on my car. Should I document it when I finally get around to it? Is that compelling storytelling? I get that the writers created obstacles for him with the teetering car and the group of walkers he comes across but the episode was so slow that it gave me time to consider the fact that AMC very publicly announced that he’s getting a spin-off series so there was never a possibility of him getting crushed by a car or devoured by walkers so those obstacles had no stakes. The only part of Daryl’s story that pertained to his relationship with Carol is that when he was replacing the damaged wire on his bike, it would have been a little easier if he hadn’t lent his smaller knife to her before they parted ways but that would’ve been the case even if they had parted ways on good terms. The other day I was looking for my drill and realized I lent it to a friend awhile back. Is that compelling storytelling?

The last thing that really drove me nuts was the “stone soup” story. I was so fascinated by how terrible that story was and the fact that it pertained to absolutely nothing in the episode that I actually spent a good twenty minutes researching it online because I was so convinced I was missing something. First of all, it’s an actual fable that dates way back which blew my mind. Secondly, the moral of the fable is that “sharing is good”. It’s literally that reductive. Don’t get me wrong. I totally get the importance of teaching the virtues of sharing to children but that wasn’t even my takeaway from the story. To me, the message seems to be that if people don’t want to share what they have, you can trick them into doing so especially if they’re dumb enough to believe that you can make edible food where the main ingredient is a fucking rock. On an aside, in my stone soup deep dive I leaned that there is a traditional recipe for stone soup or “Caldo de Piedra” which originated in pre-Hispanic Mexico in what’s now considered the state of Oaxaca. It’s a fish soup prepared using carefully selected stones and apparently it is only to be prepared by men. Also to learn and use the recipe you must first consult with the indigenous elders so if nothing else, at least I can say I learned something.

You vs The Walking Dead

If you were in TWD...

1) Who do you believe you would be close with (can be anyone dead or alive and can be at any point in the series )

2) Who would you clash with (once again can be dead or alive at any point in the series )

3) How long would you have survived ?

For me I reckon I would have been close with Maggie and Glenn

I reckon I would have had a back and forth relationship with Andrea

I reckon I could have survived up until atleast the governor fights (as then I see it as 50/50 odds of death ) and if I get past that then probably survive until the fights against the saviours

Theory for TWD Season 11 Show and Comic Spoilers

Theory for TWD Season 11 (spoilers for comics and show)

In the comics Michonne brings Pamela Milton to a meeting with Dwight and Rick, Dwight insults Pamela Milton and her government in the Commonwealth and rightfully so. However, it ultimately results in Rick shooting Dwight in the head. Here’s my theory for the show, Yumiko was a lawyer before the apocalypse and if they decide to do the elitist story line and this scene in the show I imagine Pamela becomes friendly with Yumiko and brings her to a meeting with Daryl and probably Gabriel or Aaron I’m leaning more towards Gabriel because of his recent actions killing Mays and becoming more vocal. the argument erupts with Daryl being forced to shoot his friend and the group conflict after it.

Hey, this is also a comic spoiler!

So, I never understood this, maybe y’all can help me out. Season 3 episode 8 - Glenn asks Maggie if she’d been raped (without saying the words) and she tells him no, twice. He seems to be pacified and then the very next episode he’s flipping out on Rick, alluding to Maggie being raped.

And then, episode 10, Maggie spells it out for him - and he asks again if she’s been raped. It’s like the writers forgot about their conversation in episode 8.

I know they cut the entire Michonne / Governor rape and sexual abuse from the comic, and I know that what the Governor did do was actually sexual assault, but this seems to be a huge issue with the writing.

[No spoilers] Lights in the Battlefield

Stupid question here.

I'm watching it for the first time, I'm at season 8 ep 3. Before I started watching the series, when it was hype, I remember everyone was talking about the battle scene at night. I remember seeing the video or gif, at first there's nothing just darkness, then just one small light, then it's like million lights. People were saying "oh man, that's when we knew they were fucked up". I was always wondering about that scene.

Now I'm watching this, and I see the dothrakis lighting their swords and going into dark. But I feel like it wasn't this scene.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, can you tell me what scene is that? Maybe it wasn't Game of Thrones. Idk. But it's a thing.

[Spoilers] The end of A Song of Ice and Fire

I think at this point in time anyone who is a fan of the series needs to come to peace with the fact that we already may have our ending. With the numerous projects that G.R.R. Martin is working, all of his unfulfilled promised deadlines, and just the loss of interest in the material I find it hard to believe that we will ever see an end to this series of books.

This being said what does this mean with the ending we are left with? I think that the story for most of the characters could leave for an ambiguous ending, if not a total ending. John Snows character arc could be considered complete, fitting the classic tragic hero archetype. A man is battling to have two peoples come together, having his dreams come to fruition only to be killed by the men he considers brothers. Dani being a satire of the "chosen one," someone who would really just fly off with her dragons because the reality of the world cannot handle her ideals.

I just want to consider what the story has to say if this is the end of the story we are actually gonna get.

Why is everyone so shocked these aren’t big story pushing episodes?

Like they have explicitly said these are intended to be character development episodes and setup for the final season.

Yet on every post I see a bunch of comments about how they expected them to push the story forward.

Did something get lost in translation? Because the episodes we have been given are pretty much exactly what I expected

After third re-watch finally realized ...

That although Eugene is a terrible shot and incompetent with firearms...am fairly certain it was no accident...

He intentionally KILLED Abraham's beloved military transport truck.

He wildly fires at the walkers in front of the truck, but when he turns to side of truck he fires an extended burst and much more concentrated fire. He then stops firing as he turns to walkers coming from cornfield and fires more controlled bursts. As they run around the other side of the truck the muzzle fire appears to be toward the truck again, but accept that may be an optical illusion. I had previously just thought it was incompetence. even after the bus incident, where he deliberately sabotaged the fuel line with crushed glass, and it was clear he had diverted the group back then to avoid and forestall them finding out. Looking back and on 2nd viewing it still seemed more like him taking advantage of an accident, because the truck was a big asset and provided significant safety advantages and Eugene is definitely risk averse.

Part of the reason it did not jump out was they switch the view frequently so that it is not blatantly obvious. Third time noticed his slow turn and more consistent fire as well his knowing smirk as they are on the path walking away. The "i'm smarter than you" jab at abraham seems more pointed as well. as in not just "my informed decision is the right one" but rather "i killed your truck and your none the wiser, now do as i say" . He also calmly fires his weapon as abraham joins him, which now seems like knowing he had multiple hits on the truck he had done what he intended and became almost relaxed. He has never since, pre-time s9 time jump, seemed relaxed fighting walkers or anyone, even just them approaching puts him in coward eugene mode. Not discounting his shaking rescue of tara or his participating in the alexandria rising event by following rick against herd or even his mighty dwight bite, just saying in those instances while relatively brave he was not calm.

Having come to that conclusion, though sure some may disagree its certain, do wonder how many delays and detours eugene engineered preceding that event? would posit, maybe there weren't any. Perhaps having seen how poorly abraham responded to glen just having other priorities, as in attempting to throttle him for wanting to find his wife, eugene suddenly realized that he might be receiving the business end of abrahams unrestrained anger when he had to come clean or his lies unraveled (a very valid and prescient realization).

Is Eugene a stone cold truck killer or just a spastic opportunist with an M-16?

Maggie and Michonne’s problem?

Rewatching season 9 and is there any real explanation why Maggie apparently hates Michonne? Michonne got out of her way with Negan and Maggie let him live so it can’t be that. Is it about what happened with Jocelyn and the kids? Did that one girl Winnie make her way to Hilltop and kill someone? This is such a poorly handled plot hole

[NO SPOILERS] Is it worth reading the series without knowing when the last book will release?

Similar things have probably gotten asked on here a few times, but I'm curious as to whether its worth it because I wouldn't want to finish the series then have to wait another 5 years.

For some background I've read A Game Of Thrones and I've seen the show and I previously thought that I would read the series once the new book got a release date.

And I know that the most likely answer is it depends, but still I would like to hear what people think, thanks!

[No spoilers] Gregor may be a non-pathologial (without gigantism) giant.

His great height of 7 foot 11 inches/241 centimeters and having a heavyset muscular build of 200 kilograms is possible in real life, although men in real life of Gregor's size and well proportioned are non-pathological giants. Strongman Angus MacAskill is the closest in size real life man to the Mountain with the right proportions, as he is 236 centimeters tall/ 7 foot 9 and 193 kilograms. His great height and weight as well as a well proportioned/very muscular build is a result of genetics.

In Gregor's case, it is more likely the fact he is just very tall due to genetics as opposed to having a tumor in his pituitary gland.

Live Bait and Dead Weight

These two episodes are my favorites in season 4 because of two reasons - The Governor is my favorite character in both versions of Walking Dead and we get to see the world from his perspective. I loved how it started with him returning to Woodbury burning it to the ground after realizing Martinez and Shumpert ditched him. In my opinion, The Governor destroyed Woodbury because it was deemed a failure for him because he put all his hope and dreams into restarting civilization into that town. That and also feeling very ashamed for killing his soldiers, not wanting to be The Governor so to speak anymore

Then we moved to several months later where The Governor is literally a shell of his former self with tattered and torn clothes, long hair, and beard. He was a broken man ashamed of himself and actions, and who I believe planned on walking until he couldn't anymore and allow ' The Biters' to devour him. But The Governor comes across Lilly, Tara, and Megan. Megan especially reminds him of Penny and what he lost, so he keeps himself guarded not wanting to open up. But over time he does and he starts to change for the better. The Governor becomes close with not only Megan but Lilly and Tara to a degree. He feels like this is a second chance at redemption and to start over. So he completely abandons his life as Philip Blake and The Governor by taking on the identity of Brian Heriot. As far as The Governor is concerned his old life died with Woodbury

Fast forward to when The Governor and Lilly's family not only encounter Martinez's group but joins them as well. The Governor had no issues following orders under Martinez as long as Martinez was a strong leader who will do what it takes to keep their people safe. However, he is sort of ashamed of the conditions he's living in and problems like lack of supplies and protection. The Governor was tempted to return to his old ways, regain power and make the camp better than it already was, but he didn't want to be that man anymore. The Governor keeps his head down and does his best to fight his internal conflict from within. However, as soon as Martinez showed weakness and offering a co-leadership, this enranged The Governor and decided Martinez had to go. As he dragged Martinez to the pits, The Governor kept on repeating " I DON'T WANT IT DAMN IT. I DON'T WANT IT" which meant that he didn't want to become the leader again even though he more than qualified for the role remembering the events of Woodbury though made him not want to go there again

So what happens after Martinez is murdered? The Governor refuses to step up hoping someone like Pete or Mitch will step up and do what needs to be done. But as soon as he sees how weak Pete is as a leader and a person despite having good intentions, The Governor tries to leave the camp with his family and Alisha but were blocked from ' The Biters' on the road. It was at that moment in his mind, The Governor can't change who he is. He has to become that ruthless power-hungry leader who will do whatever it takes to secure his camp and the people he cares about. He does this by murdering Pete and forcing Mitch to bend to his will. From that point on the camp becomes a little more stable and secure

I honestly believe it was a mistake to go through with the prison battle and killing off The Governor entirely, he's more interesting, complex, and badass with more potential than Negan. It would have been awesome if The Governor disappeared after ' Dead Weight' with his new group from the series. Instead, we get a spinoff on them with The Governor as the main lead surviving together for like 3 seasons than have them return during season 7 or 8 in Walking Dead with the war against Negan. The Governor would have been a wild card for sure not knowing if he'll make amends with Rick or his thoughts on Negan then eventually have him meet Alpha and Beta
