[SPOILERS] Ending Thoughts (MAJOR SPOILERS)
So I finished watching GOT about 2 months ago and have been trying to figure out exactly how I feel about the ending. Although it by no means “ruined the show” or anything like that, it was definitely disappointing in many ways so I just wanted to see what characters you guys think it got right and which you think it got wrong. For me I think the characters it got right were:
Sansa- I love Sansa bring the Queen in the North. The perfect ending for her after everything she persevered and I love knowing the Stark bloodline will continue in Winterfell.
Jon- I liked Jon going North even though I wish he was King. I think he feels like himself when he is up north. Him refusing to pursue the throne was a great parallel to his “father” Ned refusing his opportunity to take the throne. That sacrifice is what makes him the hero that he is. Plus with the wall broken and no unsullied who is to say he can’t return?
Tyrion- I loved seeing Tyrion as the hand. Varys said it best earlier in the series when he described why Tyrion cannot be king but would be a perfect Ruler.
Davos, Brienne, Sam, and Bronn- seeing the new small council was perfect. Totally satisfying
But I think it got wrong:
Dany- It made sense I guess but was too rushed.
Jamie- It was frustrating to see Jamie fail to complete his redemption. I truly believed he would kill Cersei to save the people as he once did to the mad king. However, GOT has always revealed a lot about our world and Jamie helps reveal how few true heroes there actually are. He also perfectly reflects the frustrating experience many have of us have had of seeing a person you care about continue to fall back into their bad ways.
The Hound- I wish he had conquered his fear and killed Gregor with a flaming sword.
Varys- Don’t even get me started he deserved more from Tyrion and from D&D.
Let me know what you think about who the ending got right and who it got wrong. None of my friends have finished the show and I wasn’t to talk about it without just hearing “the ending ruined everything.” Ending and all it is an incredible show and I’ve never cared about a series or a fictional world the way I do GOT.

[No Spoilers] GOT Warrior Draft, Please Vote!
https://imgur.com/gallery/wnrU1vw
So my friends and I decided to do a GOT warrior draft. We had a list of about 45 characters to choose from. We left out a couple people like NK and Dany. We are assuming each character is in their prime fighting shape and that they would be fighting one of the other teams of 10 warriors head on. We are also relying on info primarily from the HOB series with some reference to the books for a few characters that didn't get much screen time. I have created a poll with our drafted teams of 10 warriors each. Go ahead and vote on the poll the team you think constructed the best squad of 10 fighters!

[Spoilers] Jon and Dad
I hate putting on the spoiler alert, sorry.
The fact that Eddard Stark had to know and hide who Jon truly is his entire life would be difficult. Ned’s already honorable and all that but add to it his burden of a nephew who’s legit the king of the kingdoms all the while. I’d feel like I was cheating on my wife every day….when I literally didn’t.

What show pivoted so hard that it became something completely different?
I’m currently on Season 2 of INSATIABLE on Netflix and…HOLY SHIT!!!! What started as a pretty basic “fat girl gets thin” premise has morphed into….something else entirely. The plot of this show has gotten so off the rails that I’m going to finish it just to see where it goes because IT IS BONKERS. I don’t want to write any spoilers so I won’t go into details, but in 2 seasons INSATIABLE has really surprised me. What other shows have pivoted like this???

[Spoilers] GOT ending and thoughts
After a little two months later, I have finished watching the Game of Thrones series. Having watched 1 episode per night, I found the ending of the show really good. Am I the only one that thinks the ending of the show was good? All I hear from people is how shitty the ending was but I liked it a lot. Despite rushing a lot of things in the last season and many stupid mistakes from previous seasons, I liked everything was played out. The ending was bittersweet, with Dany dying, but all in all, the show was amazing. The music and intro scene played a big factor in keeping the show from plunging down.

Morgan's role in Season 8
I'd be kinda surprised if I was the first one to believe that Morgan would've been far better suited for what happened to Carl in S8, that was pretty out of the blue(and super shitty of AMC). If they stuck Morgan in his place then I think it would've meant more if it was Rick deciding to spare Negan in memory of the first guy who saved his life at the start of the series. And let's not forget that it was Morgan who constructed the jail cell that Negan ends up in, which seems like a pretty big symbolic gesture narratively speaking. Plus had they had Morgan greet Negan at the gates of Alexandria in "How It's Gotta Be", where Morgan asks Negan to kill him instead of anyone else, that could've easily paralleled when Morgan told Rick to do the same thing to him when he was in his "Clear" phase, a small detail but it would've been neato. Instead they completely undo his arc come the last two seasons of the All Out War storyline just so they could make him go through even more silly shit in FearTWD, which I haven't watched since the end of S3 because it started to bore me with how often it killed its main characters, but I've read bits & pieces. That show kinda just sounds like it's retreading old ground to a painful extent. Anyway I'm sure there're more reasons folks can share for why killing off Carl & sending Morgan off to FTWD was bloody stupid, these were just what I could think up, I haven't watched the later seasons in a while but I'm slowly rewatching the old stuff to catch up to S11.

So Milton believes that walkers must have some trace about who they were before. Quarry location question (also nostalgia fuel for some Season 1 chat)
I found a site that shows locations from the show with Google maps and noticed something about the quarry. So, through Season 1 you see them down by the water fishing, doing laundry, catching frogs, but the camp itself is way up on top. To the left under Varona Playground, I think is the exact place, that horseshoe-looking circle. Is that where the tents were? I kind of laughed because the only path to the water looks like a hell of a hike from where camp is, would they have to walk all the way down or is there a closer path the map isn’t showing?
That said, I really thought the quarry camp was neat. Would’ve been interested, seeing if veteran survivors could’ve fortified it properly. Assuming there was just one path down, you could bottleneck unexpected walkers, get enough supplies to get some kind of ladder or steps built into other areas, maybe.
Just remembered: you see Glenn gunning it in that awesome Challenger across one of the top lanes, looked like it was leading down to the water I think. So were they really on the other side, or closer to the water than I thought?

Daenarys could've easily just conquered king's landing without shedding any blood or becoming the fucking mAd qUeEn, she spent years trying to gain the love of the people and just fucking killed it all at the end. then jon kills her and goes to jail for it. now all of a sudden, bran who is a psychic and yeah a knowledgeable man WITHOUT ANY experience in the state of affairs or on the battlefield is just propelled to the throne? jon has targaryen blood and he should've become king and yeah yeah I can get why it'd be better for him to go to the wildlings but the country fucking needs him. one of the things im happy about tho is that the starks won in the end after all of their pain and suffering. THEY ALSO KILLED OFF A CHARACTER WITH ONE OF THE BEST ARCS AND DEVELOPMENTS OF ALL TIME, jaime fucking lannister. even cersei should've died a worse death than falling under a bunch of fucking bricks like what.

If you could reverse a death from each season who would you pick?
For me personally:
Season 1: Jacqui (Her death was kinda random and I felt like it was unnecessary.)
Season 2: Dale (Was my favorite character in the earlier seasons and he survived so much longer in the comics.)
Season 3: T-Dog (He was very underrated, he was mostly a background character but he deserved to get more to do instead of being overshadowed by Lori’s death.)
Season 4: Mika (I get her death was kind of necessary to show how messed up Lizzie was, but she was a sweetheart and deserved more.)
Season 5: Beth (Her story was cut too short.)
Season 6: Denise (Was just starting to get interesting and got killed.)
Season 7: Abraham (He shouldn’t of died where he did, his death was mostly overshadowed by Glenn’s death.)
Season 8: Carl (His death was just stupid, he had so much more to do in the whisperer arc.)
Season 9: Tara (Finally had the chance to have more character development and get more screen-time being leader of Hilltop.)
Season 10: Siddiq (Gabriel should’ve switched places, Siddiq had much more story to come and potential.)

Daryl's Romantic Partner: Who's It Gonna Be?
Daryl and the Bachelorettes.
The whole situation has me so confused. The writers very clearly hinted at Daryl and Connie having a romantic thing. They held hands together for Christ's sake; Daryl doesn't do that with anyone. Carol herself noticed it. But then, we got the Leah episode. So now we know Daryl already has a romantic interest that, in his words, he belongs with. HOWEVER we have the Daryl and Carol spinoff happening and apparently they're going off together away from everyone else.
I'm left with so many questions. If Daryl isn't ending up with Carol, why would he leave his mate to go ride with her around the world? If Daryl does end up with Carol or Leah, what was the point of them hinting at romance between him and Connie? Is the point of Daryl and Carol currently not being on great terms with each other suppose to be development for their eventual hook up? Is that why in the Leah episode they showed Carol doing the same things as Leah? Is he going to end up with ANYONE? It's so confusing. What do you guys think?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, timeless treasure
Oh man, the whole series, but especially season 3: Shit. Went. Down.
I have very fond memories of a few Power Rangers, but especially Mighty Morphin. It still checks out. I don't mean to disregard the other ones because I haven't watched all of them and I'm just here to focus on MMPR. Of course it doesn't keep my attention in the same way as it did when I was a kid, but it's still entertaining and after a few episodes I was able to get lost in it. Unfortunately it hasn't aged well in my opinion but I'll take that as a small cost for having the '90s charm and also versatility, having something for anyone and allowing us to take it as seriously as we want to. All the characters are so relatable whether I'm watching out of childhood memories or as an adult. There's just enough drama and every genre without being complicated. The issues are pretty realistic for a kid show especially in season 3, illnesses and decisions and friends coming and going. The writers found a way to mix these problems with all the genres that we love. Some conflicts don't always get solved, some issues take a lot of patience for both the characters and the viewers. Most of it is cheesy, especially the movie, but the show knows when to take things seriously and sometimes takes it too seriously when we're not ready, just like how real life does.
I love how it emphasizes the violence as either self defense or being necessary to save the entire world, rather than a group of superheroes just beating people up - it gives the point by having Jason be a good instructor teaching safety, and showing how bulk and skull get hurt when they practice those moves trying to hurt someone, out of jest without having training, etc.
I usually don't recognize diversity in shows because the characters are often broken tokens or a stereotype, but power rangers did it right. Wasn't always perfect because it was decades ago, but it was ahead of its time. The characters all have equal parts no matter where they came from or what they like. Everybody has their big and small successes, and the morals come from the characters admitting mistakes and accepting help, trying something new to face fears, backing each other up. Sometimes these differences allow for cultural education or introduce new things to kids, definitely got me interested in things when I was younger. Disabilities and culture are handled so casually, not unique or taboo. The episode with Kimberly's friend who spoke sign language has always had a place in my heart.
I have to give props to the actors for going 100% along with everything. 101%. This is an entire universe, these people actually exist, calling each other banana brains and falling face first into cakes. The actors never knew differently, it wasn't just for a PG rating. You can choose to take it seriously and escape the real world for a while, or take it humorously and escape the real world while also learning something.
As for the movie, it's different from the series. Some parts I haven't aged well but the rest is badass and the suits BADASS ahead of their time. Looking at the suits and the entire journey, I still want to be a power ranger. I think the only reason I ignore the fact that it hasn't aged well is because I used to be a hardcore fan. I love how it has a horror aspect. Just like the show there are real life problems put in a way where children can understand them.

Binge watched seasons 1-10
I watched all seasons available in about 2 1/2 weeks, and after I was finished and a couple of days went by, I started going through withdraws, so I turned around and started over. I really just did not want it to be over, it was that good. I know when season 11 starts, it's going to kill me to only get to see an episode a week. Anyone else feel that way?

Are there actors you love who can’t seem to find a project worthy of their talents?
Post inspired by my beloved Sarah Shahi, who I will watch in just about anything but hasn’t been in something good since Person of Interest. I just binged Sex/Life and while it was....watchable, it’s a bummer to see her in yet another role where she’s doing her damndest to sell shitty writing. I was so excited for her to be the lead in a Netflix show and thought this might finally be The One AKA the star vehicle she deserved. But nope! Even the sex scenes (a solid 69% of the show) were bad. I’m hoping her role in Black Adam will be good but ugh, I’d love for her to get a starring TV role in a show that is actually GOOD.
Do y’all have this experience with any slightly lesser known actors? I also loved Amy Acker as Root in POI and miss seeing her in a worthy role, too. Thankfully there aren’t a ton of names that come to mind, but as someone who follows Sarah’s work, I think about this a lot!

Regarding The Next Generation of Survivors (The Children)
I'm assuming we're not getting the comic ending. It's just with the D&C spinoff as well as the supposed Rick movie trilogy to come out, I don't see them doing a time-skip similar to what they did in the comics.
For one, Rick is eventually going to see his family again, right? How awkward would a time-skip be seeing old Rick with grown R.J. and Judith when the movies haven't even been released yet? Unless, they decide to keep Rick away from his family for that long. Either way it's weird and I'm curious to see how they tackle that.
Then we have the age problem. I don't see them making D&C too much older before their spinoff. Especially if we're talking seeing the kids as teens or young adults. D&C are already in their late 40's early 50's in the show.
I really want to eventually be able to see Judith, R.J., Hershel R., Gracie, Coco, Adam, and Jerry's kids all grown up in the post-post-apocalypse, but I don't think it'll be possible.

[SPOILERS] Question about S6!
SO. I watched GOT forever ago when the final season came out and I’m rewatching it in all of its glory. I just finished the episode of the battle of the bastards. And. I. I just don’t understand why they didn’t give the giant armor, a weapon, a giant shield, a rock?!?? I just kept thinking the whole time if this guy had just a giant hammer he could’ve laid waste. ABSOLUTE WASTE. we saw what the giants bow did during the wildling fight in the wall. Just so much badass potential. Maybe I’m just speaking out of pocket. Any thoughts answers? Is this a common question (I’m not on here much since I just joined recently)? (Sorry if broke any guidelines)

[SPOILERS] Are we really going to accept that Bronn is Lord Paramount of The Reach?
I just… I cant put it through words how bafflingly dumb this writing decision is from David and Dan. I’m not specifically mentioning a different character in his place but Bronn’s character arc doesn’t feel like it should end like this. The most resourceful and militarily sustainable kingdom in Westeros is ruled by a sellsword. Think about it.
If anything, the viewers didn’t need to know who was going to rule each kingdom. Most things could’ve been left open-endedly because the writers didnt have enough creative juice to finish it logically.

[SPOILERS]My Game of Thrones Alternate Ending
So now that Game of Thrones has ended and we’ve all had time to let the disappointment of the final season sink in I wanted to have a go at writing how I think the ending should have gone.
First of all I want to say that I think HBO did an incredible job at bringing the books to life on screen. The first 4 seasons of the show are the best television I’ve ever seen. Season 5 was still solid, but from season 6 onwards when they had well and truly past the books the quality really started to decrease.
As soon as HBO lost the quality writing of George Martin the plot became scattered and rushed. Complex, grey area characters who had previously been written so well became one dimensional and bland. Think of characters like Littlefinger and Varys; two of the biggest players in the game in the early seasons who were cunning and smart and always 2 steps ahead of everyone else, only to become near irrelevant and get killed off more for the shock value than to add to the plot.
Character development and friendships that were formed during long difficult journeys became non-existent as characters seemed to jump long distances between episodes or even scenes. Think of the journeys and friendships shared by Tyrion and Bronn, Jaime and Brienne or Arya and the Hound to name a few. Just imagine if these characters had simply appeared in a new place every time they had to be in an important scene; we’d have lost so many quality moments that made the show so special and interesting. This is exactly what happens in the later seasons. Characters move magically across the country seemingly instantly and with it we lose the opportunity to see them grow and change.
Perhaps the greatest thing the early seasons did was keep viewers on the edge of our seats because no character seemed safe. It was the first show ever to show that actions do have consequences and the good or main character is in as much danger as anyone else. Complex, grey area characters were put into difficult situations and weren’t given plot armour to escape every time. Think of Ned Stark’s beheading, the red wedding, Oberyn vs the Mountain and Jon Snow’s death. Shocking, gut wrenching scenes that were hard to believe (if you hadn’t read the books already).
But come to the later seasons and watch as all of the main characters now wear plot armour so strong that they can constantly be put into impossible to escape situations and be fine. Jon and Dany in particular face so many instances where they would logically be killed, only for the scene to cut away and for them to be fine when it comes back or for some ridiculous rubbish to come and save them at the very last second. All intensity is lost and the plot becomes second fiddle to huge budget CGI cinema photography (which was incredible, granted. But it doesn’t compensate for poor storytelling).
Ideally, the quality of writing from the earlier seasons remains and season 6, 7 and 8 retain 10 episodes each. Here are the major things I would have done:
Let’s bring it back to when Jon is named the King in the North. After being resurrected from the dead he gives justice to those who betrayed him, is freed from his duty in the Night’s Watch and retakes Winterfell. His story has so much potential at this point and I feel like this is a good place to start. In this version however, Jon is a changed man since being resurrected. He learns from his mistakes that got him murdered in the first place. He recognises that like Ned Stark before him, being too honourable was not the way to survive in this world.
From here I still have him going to Dragonstone to meet Dany. He needs the dragonglass and he is willing to take a risk because of the greater threat of the White walkers which is central to his story. Just like the show, Dany demands Jon bend the knee and Jon refuses, reasoning that they need each other and he will not betray his people. This time however, he does not give in and bend the knee randomly after Dany has agreed to help fight the White walkers. He is grateful for her help and is willing to support her claim for the Iron Throne while keeping the North an independent kingdom if they are to defeat the White Walkers. There is also no forced romance between them which in my opinion was not convincing at all.
Dany and her army return with Jon and the dragonglass to Winterfell to prepare for the White Walkers. The entire plot of capturing a White to take to Kings landing never happens as it was a ridiculous waste of time which really didn’t add anything to plot.
Some tension between the Northerners and Dany and her army can be some filler, but ultimately they get along well enough to face the army of the dead. Only this time they use a bit of logic and don’t go sending out most of their soldiers into certain death. Instead they completely surround the castle walls with fire and have all of the soldiers behind the walls ready to defend it (the way castles are supposed to be defended).
This episode can once again be an epic battle (but not so damn dark) in which the living manage to hold their own for a time but are eventually overpowered by the sheer weight of numbers in the army of the dead.
Jon decides to stay near Bran to protect him which seems more true to his character than letting a few iron born guard his brother. Dany does her best to battle the Wights on Drogon with Rhaegal unmanned, and has an epic battle with the Night King riding undead Viserion. Just when it seems that the 2 living dragons have the upper hand, the Night king summons a storm and ruins their vision, attacks and mortally injures Drogon who goes tumbling towards the ground with Dany on his back. Rhaegal flies down to check his mother, leaving the Night King free to fly into the castle towards Bran. At this point the other main White Walkers have entered Winterfell and have Bran, Jon and their support army surrounded. The Night King dismounts Viserion, draws his blade and walks towards Bran. Jon draws Longclaw and has a one on one sword fight with the Night King (it always felt like there was something personal between them since the battle of Hardhome). We have the epic fight we’ve always wanted to see and Jon manages to hold his own for a time but is clearly no match for the Night king who seems to be toying with him. Jon manages to lead him away from Bran as they fight, giving Theon the opportunity to move Bran back into safety.
We then cut to Dany, who survived the fall and is mourning the death of her favourite Dragon while Rhaegal stands beside them both, upset and protective of his mother. It is here that we see Rhaegal’s eyes roll into the back of his head before taking to the skies towards the battle again. We cut back to Bran who is clearly in his warging state, at long last controlling a dragon and fulfilling the foreshadowing from when he first met the Three Eyed Raven; ‘You will never walk again, but you will fly’.
Controlling Rhaegal, Bran launches fire across huge sections of Wights, giving much needed relief to those still fighting within the castle walls. He flies in to try and help Jon, but is unable to fire towards the Night King without also getting Jon. This continues for a bit, going back and forth between this battle where Jon is starting to struggle to survive more and more and scenes with other main characters struggling to stop the seemingly never ending attack from the Wights.
Dany enters the scene with some other big characters, they are able to see the battle with the Night king and Jon from a distance but are still too overwhelmed by Wights to get close enough to help.
In desperation, Jon yells ‘just do it’ meaning he is willing to sacrifice himself in order to kill the Night King. When it seems there is no other option, Bran breathes an enormous stream of flame over both the Night King and Jon Snow. We lose sight of both of them for a moment as the thick fire covers them both. When the fire disappears we are left with a slowly fading smog of smoke. We see the Night king alive and unharmed first, a look of shock on his face. We see Dany, Sam, Arya, Tyrion etc with the same look of pure shock before it returns to Jon Snow rising from the smoke, a flame covered sword in hand and eyes as red as fire. Azor Ahai reborn, wielding Lightbringer. He launches to his feet and attacks the Night King who is caught completely off guard. He manages to bring his ice blade up just in time to defend himself only for it to shatter to pieces upon impact. The flaming sword pierces the Night king through the heart, shattering him and his entire army to pieces.
While this is certainly more predictable than Arya being the one to kill the Night King, it does make a lot more sense. Jon’s whole story has been about stopping the White Walkers, not Arya’s. He was resurrected by the Red Lady on behalf of the Lord of Light for a purpose, which is ultimately not fulfilled or satisfying in the official version of the show. The Azor Ahai prophecy is also one of the biggest let downs in the show and I think this version manages to give it some justice.
We then spend some time at Winterfell dealing with the aftermath. It is during this time that Jon Snow can be revealed to be Aegon Targerian; which leads to a huge divide between him and Dany and their armies. Dany demands that he keep his promise to help her win the Iron Throne from Cersei since she helped to defeat the White Walkers. The northern lords and armies argue that Jon has the better claim, and if anything it should be Dany helping Jon to take the throne.
Jon however, insists that he doesn’t want the throne (just the once though, not every damn episode). He says that he has no problem with Dany pursuing the throne for herself, but he was done fighting and would not travel with her. Jon’s battle has always been about protecting the Kingdom from the big threat of the undead, he has never wanted power or responsibility yet time and time again it has been thrust upon him. He was murdered for doing what had to be done only to be brought back to life, and he was willing to sacrifice himself again to defeat the Night king. Now that the threat is over, Jon makes the decision himself to abandon his rights as King and join the Wildlings in returning North beyond The Wall. He is a free man who can start a family and enjoy a life without the responsibilities he has had to carry for so long.
He insists that Bran take his place as King in the North, as the last living true born son to Eddard Stark. Bran gives his classic can’t be this speech because I’m the Three Eyed Raven, but says he will support Sansa in her role as Queen of the North.
Dany feeling betrayed and angry, leaves Winterfell with the remaining Dothraki and Unsullied. She feels that Jon has betrayed her by not helping her take the throne after she sacrificed so much to help his cause. She is jealous of the way the Northerners admire him and support his claim over her own. She is amazed that he too was immune to fire and of course a Targaryian with a better claim to the throne than she has. She does not trust him, despite him saying that he has no interest in the throne and that he is going north to be a free man. She is paranoid that there is such a large threat to her out there and demands his execution. Jorah refuses and tries to convince Dany that Jon is not a threat, he is a good man who saved the realm. Tyrion concurs, strongly advising Dany not to do this. If not for Jon, then at least to keep peace with the Northerners. Dany unwilling to listen to reason, gets Grey Worm to double back to Winterfell and kill Jon in his sleep.
Tyrion outraged at Dany’s lack of humanity or reason, abandons her along the journey.
Jon spends his final night in Winterfell before departing north the next morning. Ghost sleeps on the floor beside him. Grey Worm enters the room quietly but still manages to awaken Ghost. In a fast sequence of events, Ghost growls and leaps towards Grey Worm, only for Grey Worm’s spear to meet him in the air and pierce him straight through his torso, coming out on the other side of him and turning him into a skewer. Jon wakes up suddenly, alarmed over the commotion. Grey Worm throws his spear with Ghost crying out in pain aside, grabs a knife from beside his waist and cuts Jon Snow’s throat open in one swift motion. Our favourite direwolf and one of the true heroes of the show bleed out together, innocent and unarmed thanks to Dany’s insane quest for power. The scene cuts away with Arya staring at Jon’s door from the outside, Grey Worm still inside.
Dany arrives at King’s Landing for the first time. Her army is far too small to be able to compete with Cersei’s which includes the Golden Company (who can actually be given more backstory and made to look fierce and awesome like in the books). If it was left to combat alone, Cersei would be assured victory. However Dany still has Rhaegal, which realistically gives her a massive advantage.
Cersei knows she is unlikely to be able to defeat a dragon, unless she is lucky enough for one of the Scorpions to hit it. But she is a smarter player than that and will not risk losing on that chance alone. Cersei’s whole story is about doing anything to stay in power. She has been the only one to play the game without caring about the lives of anybody else (besides her children, who are now all dead and Jaime who she doesn’t love the same way anymore). Cersei is smart and cunning, and she knows that her best chance of defeating Dany is to create a trap.
Cersei and Qyburn plan to allow Dany and her army easy access into the gates of King’s Landing. Most of Cersei’s forces, including the Scorpions are surrounding the Red Keep, making Dany hesitant to bring Rhaegal too close. They put minimal forces at the entrance and weaken the gates just enough for Dany’s army to make it through. By having more numbers of her army in some places and less in others, Dany and her army are unknowingly following a path chosen by Cersei and Qyburn, following a maze like mice.
Meanwhile, Jaime has found his way back to Cersei at the top of the Red Keep, watching the battle unfold. He tries to get her to leave with him, down the secret passage ways in the Red Keep to a boat waiting for them to escape. Though he doesn’t have the same feelings for her he once had, he ultimately wants to keep her safe and avoid as much damage happening to Kings’ Landing as possible.
Of course, Cersei refuses. She would rather die fighting than give up what she has had to work so hard to gain. But she seems confident. Jaime tries to convince her that there is no stopping the dragon. Cersei smirks and says ‘We’ll see about that.’ Jaime seems confused, and notices that Qyburn has a smirk on his face as well. Jaime asks them both what they have planned; they are both reluctant to answer him but he eventually deduces what it is. Cersei is well known for this move after all.
She confirms his suspicions. They have planted large amounts of wildfire throughout the city, particularly in the area they’re leading Dany and her army into. Jaime is mortified at the idea; there are still thousands of common people in the city. Many innocent lives would be taken in the explosion. Cersei argues that Dany’s dragon and her armies will kill just as many if they are left to do so; and that sacrifices have to be made in order to protect many people in the long run.
Dany and Cersei are similar in a lot of ways. They both consider the other one to be a crazy tyrant who in no good for the realm. Though Dany has been known to show kindness and compassion for others, she ultimately only does what is beneficial for her and will also do anything to win The Iron Throne.
Qyburn says that now is the time to give the signal if they wish to be successful. Jaime begs Cersei one last time not to do it. She looks him dead in the eyes with a cold hard face and whispers ‘burn them all’.
Jaime pulls his sword out, ready to do anything to protect the city. The whole scene mirrors that of the Mad King during Robert’s Rebellion. Jaime was forced to kill his King, forever tainting his honour and changing his own belief in whether or not he is a good man. Now he is forced to kill his Queen, his sister and the only person he has ever truly loved. Killing Cersei completes his character arc, from the man who tried to kill an innocent child in the first episode to a man willing to sacrifice everything to do what he thinks is right.
In true Game of Thrones fashion, our joy turns to ashes in our mouth as The Mountain blocks Jaime’s sword with his own, knocking it out of his weak left hand. Cersei and Qyburn swiftly leave the room while The Mountain decapitates Jaime in a swift and brutal swing of his giant sword. A single tear falls down Cersei’s otherwise emotionless face as she walks away.
We then get more scenes of the battle happening in the streets. We see the pure chaos of battle and the brutality of people being killed, something that the show has always been good at showing. We see the destruction of the city and the fear of the common people who are suffering for the wars of the powerful. Dany is on Rhaegal, flying overhead close to the buildings, doing her best to only kill those in Cersei’s army; though that is becoming more and more difficult as the fight goes on and the armies become mixed together and move further into the city and among the common people.
Dany and Rhaegal rise high into the sky as the view of the battle pans out, giving the viewer a great shot of the density of the fight and how it is primarily located within one area of the city. We see small amounts of green explosions from multiple areas, quickly moving inwards, followed by a sudden enormous explosion of wildfire, far bigger than when the sept was blown up in similar fashion. Tens of thousands of people are obliterated instantly, including almost all of Dany’s army and the Golden Company, a lot of the Lannister army and of course countless innocent people.
The distraction from Jaime was enough to delay and signal and allow Dany and Rhaegal to reach a safe height. Dany looks down in horror, unable to comprehend what has just happened. Cersei looks out from the Red Keep, drinking her wine with Qyburn beside her. They were supposed to get Dany and Rhaegal in the explosion too. Qyburn suggests that they retreat to safety.
Dany, having now lost all of her army decides there’s only one option left. She flies directly at the Red Keep, full of anger and willing to risk it all in one final attempt to kill Cersei and take the throne. The Scorpions fire arrows at her, but Rhaegal is quick and nimble and evades them all. He launches fire at the Scorpions, destroying them and killing the men arming them. He then turns his attention to the Red Keep itself, launching wave after wave of powerful fire, causing huge amounts of damage. The structure of the building begins to fail and the roof of the Iron Throne room collapses. Dany sees the Iron Throne in the corner of her eye and flies down towards it. Rhaegal lands in the middle of the throne room and lets off a mighty scream. Dany dismounts and Rhaegal takes off to the skies again, breathing fire voluptuously.
Dany walks towards the throne while ash floats through the air, pauses next to the throne, reaches out with her right hand and touches it, just as she does in the House of the Undying. Before she gets to sit down on it though, we hear ‘Khaleesi’ in a thick foreign accent. Dany turns around, shocked to see Grey Worm approaching her, spear in hand.
‘Grey Worm’ is all Dany can muster while she finds her thoughts. ‘How did you get here? The city…’
‘Quick as a snake, quiet as a shadow’ replies Grey Worm, who continues to approach her. This only makes Dany more confused, but she chooses to ignore it.
‘Jon Snow?’ she asks.
‘Dead.’ Replies Grey Worm simply. Dany nods in approval and turns to look once more at the Iron Throne. ‘So here we are’ continues Grey Worm’ ‘after everything, you have won your throne.’
‘Yes.’ replies Dany coldly, ‘but what did it cost me?’ She turns to look at him again. Grey Worm steps forward and thrusts his spear through Dany’s torso, instantly bringing her to her knees. She looks up at him, overcome with pain and confusion, coughing up blood. Grey Worm brings a hand to his face and pulls it off like a mask to reveal Arya Stark, cold and emotionless.
‘The North Remembers’ says Arya as she pulls out a blade and slices Dany’s throat open in one swift motion.
Arya avenges Jon (and Ghost), the person in her family that she always had a special connection with. She has mastered her training and truly become a faceless person.
Dany leaves this world and goes to be with her dead husband and unborn child in the afterlife, as foreshadowed in the House of the Undying.
We can then cut to 2 future scenes. In the North, Sansa sits at the head of the table of a Small Council meeting featuring Bran, Tyrion, Brienne, Samwell and Varys.
Sansa has faced one of the most difficult journeys and has managed to come out of it all on top. She has been used and manipulated by some horrible people but along the way has learnt to play the game as well as anyone. Queen in the North is a fitting end for her story, surrounded by people she knows and trusts.
I think it is safe to assume no one really saw Bran becoming king, and to be honest it was a massive let down considering how the throne has been the central focus of the entire series. Maybe in theory it could work with better writing and more time dedicated to that story, but for me Bran’s story – like Jon’s, has been about protecting the realm from the White Walkers. His moment of triumph was warging into a dragon and helping to defeat the Night King. I would like to include some more clarity about his abilities as the Three Eyed Raven and the history between him and the Night King, as that was all left pretty ambiguous. I think it is fitting that he does not take on the power as King in the North but is instead a trusted advisor to Sansa.
Tyrion I think finally finds what he thought he had found in Dany, a queen that he believes in. I feel like Tyrion has always had a soft spot for the Starks and for the North and will fit in well advising Sansa. The fact that he is still Cersei’s enemy after all this time seems fitting.
Brienne stays true to her oath made to Catelyn Stark. She will protect Sansa and offer her council where necessary. I did love Jaime knighting her and would love to have that included somewhere still, though I didn’t like the romance that followed as I always saw their relationship as platonic and respectful.
Samwell seems destined to be a Maester or even Grandmaester eventually, but that was extremely unrealistic how he was able to become one instantly in the show. It takes many years of training and studying to become qualified, and I’m sure he is happy to take his time, reading many books and raising baby Sam with Gilly.
Varys was without doubt one of the best characters on the show and deserved better than the ending he got. He obviously can’t go back to Cersei after all he has done but I like the idea of him still conspiring and manipulating people from the shadows. Supporting Sansa at this stage makes the most sense for him.
During this Small Council meeting someone can mention Arya going West on a ship. I think this was a satisfying ending for her character but her scene killing Dany is a better final screen moment to give to one of the most mysterious and bad-ass characters.
In King’s Landing, Cersei sits at the head of the table at a Small Council meeting featuring Qyburn, Littlefinger, the Mountain and Bronn.
‘When you play the game of thrones you win, or you die, there is no middle ground.’ – Cersei to Ned stark in season one. Throughout the show, Cersei is the only person who has truly understood the game and played it as ruthlessly as possible. She has not been weakened as others have by honour, love or duty. She deserves to sit the Iron Throne because she is willing to pay the price for it that nobody else has. Cersei has lost her children, who she loved more than anything in the world. Her father, who she respected and learned from. And her brother Jaime, who she came into the world with and loved like a woman loves her husband. She has been consumed by her quest for power and now that she has it she is destined to live a bitter life of loneliness, repairing the city and realm she has destroyed.
She surrounds herself not so much with people that she trusts but with people who fear her and use her power to their own advantage. Qyburn is an extremely interesting character, intelligent and level headed with no ethics and a huge amount of curiosity.
I was a bit torn on what to do with The Mountain as Cleganebowl was actually done really well and gave The Hound the ending he deserved. But I also really like the idea of Cersei constantly being followed by this mute zombie thing that shows no emotion or human characteristics – perfectly personifying her darkest side. He is also a constant reminder of Jaime, and the lengths she was willing to go for her own selfishness.
Bronn became a bit of a fan favourite thanks to his witty one liners and the interesting storylines he shared with Tyrion and Jaime. But ultimately I see Bronn as someone who only cares about himself. He is a talented fighter with questionable ethics who will do just about anything for money, it seems fitting that he serve Cersei who is able to provide just this.
I don’t think Cersei ever found out that Littlefinger was involved in killing Joffrey, so it seems plausible that he could wiggle his way back into power here. That whole storyline with him trying to divide Sansa and Arya was some of the worst writing the show has ever had. They killed him off purely for the twist which in my opinion was both cringe-worthy and disrespectful to one of the best characters in the show. While Varys schemes in The North, Littlefinger schemes in The South.
In real there is no ending to things. The show may stop but the game will always continue. I think this ending better represents the harsh reality of life that Game of Thrones was once so good at portraying while delivering more satisfying conclusions to the biggest characters and storylines.
‘If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention’

[SPOILERS] Was Cersei offering a truce to Margaery on S04E05 or was she still playing the game?
Cersei and Margaery had a little talk after Tommen was crowned and I don't know what to make of it on Cersei's part. I'm sure Margaery was still playing the game, I know she still wants to be queen. Was Cersei tired of playing the game at that point and had her guard down and Margaery totally fucked it or was Cersei still playing the game?

I just started watching ftwd and something doesn’t add up
If the virus all of a sudden infected everybody, and just stayed dormant until death, how is there only a couple “reports on the news”?? Roughly 2 humans die every second, and Dr Jenner said that the longest recorded reanimation time was 8 hours, which means in 8 hours, thousands and thousands of dead bodies will have reanimated and it would go from 0-100 immediately. Maybe I’m overthinking

Season 11 Death Predictions
Okay, so a lot of these are probably unpopular but here it goes:
ALSO MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE TV SHOW AND COMICS
Daryl - Survives
Carol - Dies: Lemme explain; So I’ve been thinking about the Daryl and Carol spin off for a while and I think that they might be misleading us. I feel like the show is going to do that 30 year time jump like they did in the comics, and I think after that 30 year time jump, Daryl and Carol will be apart of the community again, and Carol will die from natural means such as an illness or a sickness from old age. So I think they’re gonna kill her off in the last episode, and the spin off will detail what happened with the two characters during the time jump
Maggie - Survives
Rosita - Dies: Tbh I think they’ll kill her off in the season premiere, probably fighting in the train station. I hope they give her a badass send off since she’s one of my favorite characters on the show
Eugene - Survives
Gabriel - Survives
Aaron - Survives
Ezekiel - Dies: While I really want him to survive, I think he might be killed off
Negan - Survives
Alden - Survives
Yumiko - Survives
Magna - Dies: I think Magna will be given dwight’s death, and yumiko will be the one siding with the commonwealth and forced to kill her
Judith - Survives
Lydia - Survives
Connie - Survives
Mercer - Survives
Pamela - Survives
Sebastian - Survives

[Spoilers] How did Littlefinger plan on becoming king?
Lf started the conflict between the Lannisters and Starks to sow chaos, but how would the conflict between those two houses help him get closer to the Iron Throne?
Assassinating Joffrey took out a vicious king and replace him with a meek one, so that makes sense. Also, he got Sansa, the key to the north, so that also makes sense. However, marrying Sansa to Ramsey Bolton makes absolutely no sense as it weakened his position and strengthened the Boltons.
Even if Lf became warden of the north or even king of the north, that doesn't bring him closer to the Iron Throne. The north, especially after Robb Stark's defeat, had no chance of taking over the seven kingdoms. Maybe Robb could have sacked King's Landing if he had married the Frey woman, but after that he stood no chance. The best the north could do is gain independence.
If Lf became warden of the north, he'd be stuck at Winterfell and unable to gain other titles and castles south.
So what was Lf's plan to get the Iron Throne? Gaining armies until he had enough? Gaining titles until he had enough to make a claim on the throne after assassinating all the Lannisters?

[SPOILERS] I love the final winner of the game of thrones exactly because of the implications.
Bran the Broken - the Three-Eyed Raven - was put on the throne. An enigmatic being that is close to omniscient was just put in charge of a state. There are fascinating possibilities ahead. Possibilities of a utopia or a dystopia. There are themes and philosophical questions to be explored.
This is a concept we've all seen done in scifi more than once, but not really in a medieval fantasy setting like this one, and king Bran with all of his delicious implications is what makes me wish for a sequel to GoT (as long as GRRM would have a hand in making it, of course).

[NO SPOILERS] A small theory about the map
tl:dr A small theory that the map of asoiaf is GRRM's rendition of how Westeros mapmakers view the world. As such, it may not be indicative of the true shape, size, geography, etc., of the landmasses and oceans beyond Westeros.I have by no means explored this in-depth, but after examining the map of the known world within Asoiaf, I feel that the map is diegetic. That is to say, it's a map drawn from the perspective of Westerosians and not fully indicative of what the world and its landmasses truly look like.
I've seen several critiques regarding the map from an aesthetic perspective. It's those critiques that led me to ponder this. GRRM has gone to great lengths to really flesh out his worldbuilding and, given his knowledge of history, is likely no stranger to maps. I feel that Essos, in particular, is... a little awkward, all things considered. With that in mind, I pondered, "What if this is GRRM's rendition of how the people of Westeros view the rest of the known world?" Given that the setting is somewhat analogous to 9-12 century Europe and Central Asia, it's likely that map-making techniques aren't quite as accurate as today's maps are, obviously.
Wow, I typed way more than I thought I would! One final statement: I don't believe that the existence of a continent shaped like Essos is beyond the realm of possibility. We only have Earth as a reference, so there's no telling what sort of shapes and sizes landmasses on other worlds could look like! I just thought this was an interesting little theory to think about!
(Just a fun thought experiment, nothing more!)

[SPOILERS] I'm curious does anybody else believe this about Arya and the Waif?
Okay here is my theory. Please be open-minded because people really DO NOT like this theory lol :) Basically I think the Waif really did kill Arya and is impersonating her all throughout S7 and 8. But then how did the Waif's face end up in the Hall of Faces, you ask? Well, they're called the FACELESS Men, so obviously the Waif cut her own face off (literally John Travolta and Nicolas Cage style lol. I just watched that movie for the first time a few months ago) and is now wearing Arya's. Which is why Jaqen says she is now "No One', because the Waif gave up her face.
They never explicitly confirm it imo because the storyline in the books will end up crossing paths with Lady Stoneheart, who they left out of the show & wanted to avoid spoiling her plot. The reason I think this is because they substituted Beric Dondarrion's 'sacrifice' for Arya (like his death pose in the Long Night is literally a 'crucifixion') in place of Lady Stoneheart's, who I think will sacrifice her life for her daughter's (who will actually be the Waif impersonating her daughter). Not during the Long Night though, probably sometime during an encounter in the Riverlands (I can't predict the full circumstances in the books).
I think it will happen in the books for these reasons: 1. George does the 3-fold reveal strategy for Arya's death: https://old.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/98k5as/spoilers_extended_aryas_death_forshadowed_3x/ 2. 'Fake Arya' (Jeyne Poole) is also foreshadowing for the real Arya Stark's identity being impersonated
It's funny because in S7, one of the guards tells Arya "Arya Stark is dead. You're the one impersonating her sister". Also Michele Clapton (GOT costume designer) said that D&D told her during the making of Season 8 that "Arya isn't really a Stark anymore". Plus Bryan Cogman (GOT writer) makes a veerrry small, suspicious joke that Arya is not the same person anymore in this interview https://youtu.be/FyHHg-V6FVk?t=1601
Also the show leaves out that Arya is a warg, so they couldn't show that when Arya died her soul went into Nymeria (which is too what I think will happen in the book). Which is why Nymeria stopped herself from attacking the Waif... because Nymeria IS Arya, and she got sad when she heard the Waif say her name and said that she's going home, something the real Arya will never be able to do.
And Arya WILL NOT kill the Freys in the book, that only happened in the show because again they didn't adapt Lady Stoneheart and they needed someone to off the Freys.
I mean, even think about show Arya's reunions with her family. Arya's reunions with her family are THE ONLY ONES where the Stark theme NEVER plays. It even plays during Bran's reunions with Sansa and Jon, and most famously Sansa and Jon's, but never for any of Arya's. There's too many details for it not to be true (that's not even the last of the hints I've found!)... imo.

[NO SPOILERS] Why are there seemingly no liberal ideas in the entire world of Game of Thrones?
Hello,
I was struck recently by the fact that in all of Westeros, Essos, and Sothyros there is seemingly no liberal countries, constitutional monarchies, or republics. It seems to be either magical people, nomads, slavers, vast unknowns or absolute feudal monarchies across the entire world of Game of Thrones. No one ever wrote a magna carta, initiated a peasant or slave revolt, founded a republic, or created a parliament of nobles or the rich?
The closest it gets is Dorne's less harsh treatment of bastards, and the occassional benevolent king. But after the mad king especially, did no one ever think to institute limitations of power?
The world of GoT is vast and varied, but there seems to be no liberals or republics anywhere. Is this an oversight by the all-mighty GRRM or a deliberate choice?

Why do Jadis and her people talk the way they do?
At first I assumed that they might be foreigners who can't speak English properly. But after Simon kills everyone Jadis starts speaking regularly. So is there a reason they talked like that? Or was it merely to be different? (Jadis said that she wanted their world to be different from the rest, so maybe that was one way to be different.)

Them
Is one of my all time favorite episodes. It’s the episode I think about when I think about season 5. That moment when everyone came together at the bar doors - just awesome.
I think it’s why I love when Alexandria stands up to the horde - the production is similar, and the humanity of it is so profound.

All the Survivor interview tapes
I've been thinking. What if Diana's survivor interview tapes from Alexandria, and Al's survivor interview tapes from FTWD end up in an archive together in the CRM or in the Commonwealth? Like, someone gets their hands on all the tapes they can to archive the past, as has been mentioned in the shows multiple times, and in the collection is Al's tapes and Diana's tapes. They could have an episode that is like the "final cut" of all the interviews mashed into one, with maybe a few other survivors we didn't see, or saw very little of, thrown in the mix, just to make it more legit. Hell, maybe Elton from World Beyond could make the film. Thoughts?

Merle has to be the most underrated character of the show.
I know that he wasn’t a good man and he was an antagonist yada yada. But goddamn his character and its development was something else. It felt like as if he was a good person but he was broken so much that it caused him to change and act differently. I still miss him because of how amazing his character was done and how well Michael Rooker acted him out. I feel that deep down, he was caring and a good man. But he never was able to prove and show it enough due to all of the chaos going around in season 3. I feel that when it comes to Merle, Daryl, Aaron, Hershel, Negan, and Ezekiel’s character development, nobody can beat them.

How Would They Handle A Rick Grimes Return To Alexandria With Michonne Gone?
Random thought, but hypothetically, let's say that Rick Grimes makes his return to Alexandria either in a movie or in season 11, and Danai Gurira/Michonne is still gone...what would he do? Like, he comes back home, they would obviously tell him that Michonne is gone. Now does he think "well shit, I guess I gotta go back out there and try to find her" and leave right away or is he just like "well that's too damn bad, but I'm home now" lol
I'd have to imagine they would try everything possible to get Danai Gurira back at the same time if they were to bring Rick back...but just kinda interesting to think about how they'd write it if say Danai didn't want to return or something

How many real world IPs are canon in the show’s universe?
I know about a few, namely Portal (Glenn mentions having played it sometime in Season 2), Harvey Cartoons (the Baby Huey short in The Calm Before), Popeye and Indiana Jones (Daryl calling Lori “Olive Oyl” and Glenn “Short around” in Season 2), Gears of War (Negan plays it during his argument with Lucille in Here’s Negan), and D&D (Eugene makes direct references to it several times).
Any I’m missing or may have overlooked?

Does anyone not like Season 2?
Season 2 is my favorite and I feel like people just thinks its boring which I don’t think. Here are my reasons
-
Carl Getting Shot (Because it adds a shocker)
-
Otis’s Death (I know this sounds messed up as a reason but it just goes to show how Shane & the other characters)
-
The Barn (It shows how much everyone has changed and is trying to step up)
-
Randall’s Group (Just adds a shocker that new people have arrived and what’s going to happen)
-
The Bus Scene/Rick Vs. Shane (Shane and Rick have been friends so it’s crazy how their friendship was breaking down & in the broken mirror, Shane sees a image of hisself as a monster)
Randall’s Death/Shane’s Death (It added a good tense to the show because Shane killed Randall and was going nuts and Rick killing Shane because they were good friends and it had to end by Rick because Shane was not stable)
These are my reasons why Season 2 is good and not boring

Clarkson's Farm, what a good show!
I just finished it (started after reading positive reviews here), and I have to say, it was enjoyable and down to earth. 100% recommend to Anyone, no previous Clarkson experience required.
As someone who has enjoyed Top Gear / Grand Tour, I kinda kinda ignored Clarkson's show because I thought his Chemistry only worked with cars and his co-host. I wanted him driving cars, not farming. I was wrong.
He has managed to make the plight of the farmer a delightful experience. If you have been hesitating to watch it to because Jeremy Clarkson is a bafoon, you need to give it a try. This is good TV, and he is still an idiot. Ya, it's scripted and he does things for the sake of trying to make it more interesting, but he manages to beautifully show the joy of a hard day's work, and what it takes to be a farmer. I have a smile on my face, the word "Wholesome" comes to mind (ignoring the swears). This is the show that deserves the cult popularity that Tiger King or Queen's gambit. What are your thoughts?

Idea
I’m new to this subreddit and I’ve been a fan of TWD since the show started when I was little and recently read the compendiums. I love the AMC show but after Invincible would love to see an animated comic accurate show on prime. Anyone else want this? Ofc they should add Daryl still tho 😂.

Just me who thinks the reapers are not gonna be the main villain of season eleven like at all?
I honestly think that nothing will come of them and they were used to drum up speculation and hype for season eleven. Idk they don’t seem like a walking dead style villain. I just think a military group would fit as the bad guy without being heavily illuded to beforehand. Its hard to explain but I seriously don’t see them becoming a threat.

[SPOILERS] Why can Valyrian Steel kill the White Walkers but Dragonfire can’t?
just wanna start off by saying i haven’t read the books (planning to in the near future but it’s a daunting read) so i’m not sure if this is explained in more detail, although i’m pretty sure Dany (and by extension her dragons) havent met the WW yet. i find it a little odd that in the show, valyrian steel can kill the white walkers but dragon fire can’t, or at least it can’t kill the night king (been a while since i watched BoW so i’m not sure if Dany killed any of the other WW). I understand why dragonglass can kill them. dragonglass doesn’t have anything to do with dragons besides it’s name, it’s just obsidian. And it’s likely lethal to the White Walkers because it was used to make them. Valyrian steel, however, is metal made of dragon fire and magic. Dragons are magical fire breathing creatures so one would think a blast of raw dragon fire would be more than enough to take one of them out, but the night king at least was completely unaffected. Maybe it’s because of the type of magic used to craft valyrian steel. I’ve read that they were made with blood magic specifically (hence “fire and blood”) and dragons are not created (born? idk) blood magic, but i still find it odd that it wouldn’t affect them at all, considering dragon fire is one of two key ingredients used to craft weapons that are lethal against them. what do you guys think?

[SPOILERS] Some small changes I wish could’ve been made to S7/S8
MAKE IT ONE SEASON:
Instead of having what felt like two half seasons, have one epic extended season to finish the show. This would allow both main stories (white walkers and the got) to build in the 1st half (as S7 was largely just setup for 8) and then crescendo in the 2nd half, as I feel having the story unfolding across two seasons really hurt the pacing. I also think having such a long break between S7 & 8 contributed to this wonky pacing, whereas I think it would be more natural after the S6 finale, as it felt much like more of a “we’re in the endgame now” season finale, as well as having many storyline’s that would be easy to jump back into after a long break.
CHARACTER DEATHS:
The biggest thing that hurt the final two seasons for me was that the show lost that sense of “literally anyone could die at any moment”, which if anything should be heightened in the final stages of the story. Instead, that writing felt much more “fantasy, ala Lord of the Rings. So here are the characters I wish had died to preserve that trait.
TORMUND (Ep 6, Beyond the Wall) - Tormund didn’t really have a role of any significance moving forward, and him being dragged into the lake as he’s repeatedly shanked in the stomach would have been an awesome death scene.
BRIENNE and POD (Ep 10, The Long Night) - Brienne had completed her journey in the story, which is particularly evident considering she barley appears in the final 3 eps, and I think it was a natural time to conclude her story in the big battle. I also think it’d strengthen Jamie’s arc if they hook up before the battle, and then Jamie returns to Cersei (like an addict) after losing Brienne (the one person who really saw the good in him), as opposed to choosing to reject her. Also might as well kill Pod cos I feel like if this were a real life battle, he would definitely die.
SAMWELL TARLY (Ep 10, The Long Night) - When Jon sees Sam in danger but decides to leave him to go find the Night King, Sam should have died. It would’ve added a huge amount of weight to Jon’s choice, as well as the White Walkers conflict, and it’s also logical that in this battle where a bunch of badass worries are dying, so does Sam.
GENDRY (Ep 10, The Long Night) - Again, Gendry being a legitimate Baratheon and becoming lord of Storm’s End felt very “fantasy”. I think him dying to buy Arya a little time before she climbs into the building would’ve been a cool death scene, and I also feel killing him is a stronger decision for Arya’s story, for similar reasons to Jamie. In a nice hypothetical parallel, they both lose what made them feel human, and so they both go back to what they know (killing Cersei and fucking Cersei, respectively).
EVIL THREE EYED RAVEN (TTED):
I’m sure everyone is familiar with the theory at this point, so I’m not going to beat a dead horse by going over the many hints and apparent signs of evidence. However, having TTED as the “main villain” of the series, creating all the major catalysts for his ascension to power in a centuries long master plan would be the perfect ending for a show like Game of Thrones. It would also effectively bridge the disparate white walker storyline with “the game of thrones” by turning them into TTED’s Trojan horse into the Seven Kingdoms.
That’s it, those are my two cents. Curious to hear what people think
