I've Developed a Bad Habit

Instead of rewatching the entire series when I start to get that BB itch, I've started to just watch the last few episodes starting with "Ozymandias". Those last 3 episodes are some of the most intense, suspenseful, heartbreaking, and well crafted scenes in movie or tv history. These episodes give me the catharsis I seek when I start thinking about BB too much. One of these days I swear, I'm going to rewatch the entire series.

I fucking love Marie

I know some of you hate her, but others speak my language and see the beauty in her character. She's a nagging, kleptomaniac sweetheart and she's cool. There's just something about this nutcase that I really like. Thank you Vince Gilligan.

When did 10 episodes become the new 13?

For years it seemed like, HBO shows and cable shows had 13 episodes in a single season. Sometime in the past few years, it seems like that all changed. Basically every show I watch regularly cut the number of episodes if they were at 13 in earlier seasons, and new shows that premiere now have 10 episodes (or sometimes 8). Always Sunny, American Horror Story, Westworld, Fargo, Better Call Saul are all examples.

How did Negan have access to Easy Street?

The apocalypse started in 2010 but that song came out after. Is the band living at the Sanctuary recording the music? Is Negan a time traveler?

[EVERYTHING] Tyrion was angry because he feels like they betrayed him.

I don't know if this is mentioned before. I rewatched the finale and I think the reason Tyrion suspiciously stared at the room while Jon and Dany were having sex was because he realized that they risked everything just because of Jon and Dany fell in love. He thinks Jon's honor was not the issue at all.

If Jon promised Cersei that he will stay neutral between Dany and Cersei, they were going to agree on truce but Jon said he already bent the knee to Daenerys and breaking that oath would not be honorable.

The thing is, Tyrion doesn't even know about Jon bent the knee, they didn't even tell him. Then, in his own words, "being an idiot," Tyrion had to risk his life by going to negotiate with Cersei alone.

They put themselves in so much trouble and Tyrion was ready to sacrifice himself to make that deal with Cersei but both Jon and Dany behaved really selfish and didn't care about anyone else just because they started to love each other. For example, Daenerys, being Jon's queen now, she could release him from his oath but she didn't do that either.

Now, Tyrion feels betrayed. And you can't really blame him for this. He is the queen's hand but they don't really care about him to even ask or tell anything. And there is no way that Dany will listen to his advice again, he understood that it will be mostly Jon who makes the decisions from now on, just like he convinced Dany to sail together.

When do you think will be Kirkman's last issue?

So Issue #1 was released in October of 2003. That means in a little over one month, Kirkman will have been working on this comic for 14 years ... and he would be at Issue #172.
Originally, he wanted to do 500 issues, which at a pace of 12 issues a year, would mean he would reach 500 issues in 27.5 years; essentially being done by 2045.
Then he changed his stance to 300 issues, which would still be 10.8 years from now. I just don't think he has enough new conceptual ideas to last 10.8 more years -- he has already been going for 14 years.
If he stopped at issue 225, that would be another 55 issues, and ending The Walking Dead in 4.5 years or the beginning of 2022. I can realistically imagine he has that much more content ideas left in him. It is not too soon and not too long before the comic ends.

[Everything] Something I just realized about Ned Stark

When Lyanna told Ned that Jon's true name was Aegon Targaryen, Ned must have known that meant Lyanna had married Rhaegar. Otherwise, she would have said his name was Aegon Sand or Aegon Snow, not Targaryen.

Ned realized that the entire war had been based on a lie, right from the start(edit: Of the show, not the war). But he kept his mouth shut to keep his sister's baby alive.

Crazy.

Who is an actor/actress that you feel is immensely talented, but doesn't get any/extremely few leading roles?

Mine has to go to Jimmi Simpson. The biggest things I know him from are Westworld and House of Cards, but it looks like he's been a recurring character on a few other shows too. I think that he's incredibly talented, and has some great range, but he hasn't gotten very many leading roles, if any. I would love to see him get a ton of notoriety and get some more shows under his belt.

Who are some other actors that you feel are talented but don't have the notoriety or attention that they deserve?

Give me spoilers!!

I've been pop corning in and out of watching this show. I'm not sure what season I'm on, however I know I'm at the part where Walt is telling Jesse not to trust Mike and Gus. Jesse saving Mike's life was most likely a hoax (Jesse and Mike were riding around picking up random bags of money in different parts of the dessert).

Someone spoil it for me please!

Why was Mike so loyal to gus after what happened to Victor?

Mike was very loyal and respected Gus. He was also a survivor, and seeing Victor being killed (for whatever reason) should have sen't a red flag.

Let's think about this: there were extenuating circumstances surrounding Gale's death and Victor getting seen, which pushed him (Victor) to try to cook to make up for it.

Nothing justifies killing him. Even if getting seen was the cause, make him go away, no need to kill him. Gus knows that running his business mercilessly means people will turn on him, which is why he cares for his employees and is merciless with everyone else.

Killing victor seemed out of characters, and I think Mike should have taken him out. Can you imagine him, raising his gun after Victor fell and killing Gus? It would have made for a... different outcome :)

[Everything] Small detail about Jon and Ned that dawned on me today

I know this has probably already occurred to everybody, but I was thinking about how Ned named his three sons after people who were close to him. Robb is named after Robert Baratheon, Bran is named after Ned's brother Brandon, and Rickon is named after Ned's father. But then I remembered that Jon is named after Jon Arryn, the man who wasn't Ned's father, but raised him like a son. That's a really beautiful detail.

real-life slippin Jimmys are out there

So I'm sitting in a mochahut right now next to a couple who have connected on some dating site and as I listen to the guy, I'm running everything he says through my Jimmy filter and my God is the BS just flowing. First sign is that he is completely controlling the conversation. Every time she branches to something new, he brings it back to where he started. It is like the whole spiel has been rehearsed and used before. Tons of red flags: not from around her, came here with very little, matches her storyline with also having an ex, children, etc, but of course nothing can be verified because they are all in another country. Tells stories of people whose behavior is dodgy, but of course he is not like that. 30 minutes after meeting he has his arm around her. She is in medical field, and he has already put out some feeler questions about being around drugs at work. her back is towards me, but I almost wonder if she has a "V" on her forehead. I learned all of these lessons about scams etc from other sources, but it is nice that BCS can also functions as a low-tuition course at the school of hard knocks.

Rewatching the show, and now on season 5. I will never be able to forgive the writers and never be able to get over the absolute bullshit way Ser Barristan Selmy was killed off. Not only was it ridiculous the way he was killed off, one of the best swordsmen to ever have lived in Westeros killed in a back alley by a bunch of lunatic fanatics, but the timing was awful too. One of the very, very few things that leave a bitter taste in my mouth about this show.

TwD Writers - Suggestions

I wish the writers would explore more of the country or better yet the world to see how other groups of individuals are fairing, and what if anything they’ve learned about the ZA. Also, it may be interesting to see a storyline of a group of people on a cruise liner docked just off shore? Surrounded by deep enough water where the walkers cant get to them and as long as they stay stocked they could survive indefinitely until they have to make a run on land.

What bothers me even more than that, was that the show doesn’t explore the ‘How’ anymore like it did in the earlier seasons. For example, when they were staying at the CDC and the Doctor said France may have come up with something close to a cure.. SHOW US! I love the TwD and I think Georgia/the Southeast US is an awesome place to stage a show like this, but I feel like the writers don’t realize how much more material they have to add depth to the story. Negan is an entertaining villain but is really like a Governor 2.0, not a pure copy and paste but close enough. Show us the ‘masterminds’ behind this, was it chemwarfare ala T-Virus (Resident Evil), was it something always latent in our DNA? What is going on in New York? Washington DC? Europe??....

My suggestions to the Writers:

1) Have our characters venture to a different part of the country if only temporarily, if this is a global ZA you’ve only covered ONE STATE in ONE COUNTRY.. Give them a plane, boat, something!

2) Please tell us why and how this happened. What is going on with the cure research in France and other CDC units? It would be so fascinating to hear more about the origins of this Zombie Apocalypse.

3) Please hire Lauren Cohan a GOOD accent coach. Her southern accent was spot on in Seasons 1-3 then in Season 4 started taking a turn for the worse sounding forced, gimmicky ala Fog Horn Leghorn, fast forward to the most recent season and her accent is a straight up dumpster fire, I often find myself routing the zombies to kill her and put that God awful accent out of it’s misery.

So in conclusion, great show, getting to formulaic in plot line, too many missed opportunities, be brave and please pick at least 1 item from the 3 items above.

Thanks

Just finished the whole season (my thoughts)

First of all..I watched BCS first before watching breaking bad and I was surprised how many same characters they put on both show then I realized what a spin off truly meant. Secondly, Vince Gilligan is a genius. There were times that I liked then hated each character back and forth but ultimately was still on Walts side. Maybe for the fact that I liked his reasoning? However, the transition from an innocent chemistry teacher to how he ended becoming was pretty insane in a good way. Well for the story at least. I just thought it was crazy how one man's plan could affect so many different lives.. Makes me reflect on how I live my life and how people around me would be affected by my decision. You can say, I'm a little more cautious. Now I'm sad that I finished the whole series (within two weeks) and I need a new show to watch. Looking forward to BCS season 4. Will we see Saul dealing with Mr. White and Jesse? Aaron Paul did hinted that his scene with BCS is possibly already been filmed. That'd be great ! All in all, breaking bad was dope ! Thank god there's Better call Saul left to look forward to that's related so.. itsalllgoooodmannn ! Oh and.. Flynn is sometimes a little bitchhhh! No offense to his condition.

[Everything] Interesting foreshadowing from 'A Dance with Dragons'

There is a scene in book five where Maester Aemon is giving Jon advice on how to rule as lord commander of the Night's Watch:

Aemon’s final words. “Allow me to give my lord one last piece of counsel,” the old man had said, “the same counsel that I once gave my brother when we parted for the last time. He was three-and-thirty when the Great Council chose him to mount the Iron Throne. A man grown with sons of his own, yet in some ways still a boy. Egg had an innocence to him, a sweetness we all loved. Kill the boy within you, I told him the day I took ship for the Wall. It takes a man to rule. An Aegon, not an Egg. Kill the boy and let the man be born.” The old man felt Jon’s face. “You are half the age that Egg was, and your own burden is a crueler one, I fear. You will have little joy of your command, but I think you have the strength in you to do the things that must be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born.”

Could this have been foreshadowing Jon/Aegon as the ruler of Westeros?

[S6E5] Hodor is...

...one of the best written character background reveals of all time. From the beginning they say Hodor isn't his real name but you pay it no mind because he isn't a main character. He slowly endears himself to the audience because he's simple and sweet and loyal to a main character, and you start to wonder what his story is...you maybe recall he wasn't always this way, but you still don't lock on to his limited vocabulary. You go years loving the character for his simplicity and gentleness.

Then, in that signature moment, it dawns on you...his name is a mantra, it has a meaning, and it's meaning has been the purpose of his whole life. Everything lead to this, every "Hodor" an admission of loyalty to his cause. He knew before Bran was born that he would be Bran's mount, his bodyguard, his best friend...his door stop. But he accepted his fate and trudged forward, knowing that his sacrifice would pave the way for the Three Eyed Raven.

I find myself coming back to Hodor's final scene over and over, in contrast to the extreme avoidance I show to Oberyn's final scene. I think it's because, while it makes me cry every time, it's one of the most heroic moments in the show.

[Spoilers] During rewatch, I'm realizing S3 is actually pretty good.

There's some dumb moments and decisions, but those scatter throughout the series.

There are great character introductions and development, solid action and conflict, good development of the mental toll of the ZA, a great villain, some really difficult and painful losses, etc etc.

Still not my favorite in the overall series, but way better than I feel it's remembered sometimes.

I still highly dislike, but start understanding, Andrea's arc... especially as she went through S2 getting groomed to be one of the ultimate shut it down, get it done, badasses.

S3 Daryl might be the best Daryl of the series.

[EVERYTHING] Hasn't someone made a horrible miscalculation?

In telling Jaime that she's not sending troops north to fight the White Walkers, Cersei says that she'll let her enemies fight each other, and then it'll be easier to beat the victors after they've been weakened by battle.

But if the Night King wins, his army won't be weakened, and it won't be smaller: if he wins, his army will get way bigger, because it'll include everyone they defeated. It seems like she can fight the 100,000 wights he has now, or she can fight the 500,000 he'll have in six months, and she chose the latter.

"Fall" SPOILERS

I may be either very dumb or very smart, but when Kim's car got stuck in the desert and nearly crashed her car I read that as foreshadowing as a possible bad outcome in the desert for her. I was right, but I'm not sure if this was intended foreshadowing?

Breadsticks

I'm new to this sub but a long time fan of bcs. I was watching Episode 2. "Mijo" and when Jimmy was at the bar talking up this woman, a man starting snapping breadsticks and irritating Jimmy. I rewatched this episode for the umpteenth time and I thought it was fucking hilarious how many breadsticks this man was eating. It's 11. 11 full breadsticks at the bar? These couldn't be those thin ones either because the snap was loud enough to turn Jimmy away. Not expecting any upvotes on this, but I definitely recommend watching this stoned.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but during the last episode of preacher hitler let out a huge "adolf fucking hitler" didn't get censored at all. Not sure if this was allowed because they assume no children are watching preacher and they know they watch TWD but who knows. Maybe this was a trial to see if we might be able to get at least one. This was my worst spoiler story, whats yours?

I've just recently got into the walking dead and have been binge watching it since. I new that getting into an "older" show there would be a higher chance of spoilers, but I was not aware just how careful I should have been before catching up. Alright, I had gotten to the begging of season 6 a few episodes after what I had thought for certain was the death of Glenn. Later while watching some fan stuff on YouTube I spotted a video titled Glenn's death, after seeing the thumbnail I instantly felt regret. as I found out that he SURVIVED just to DIE later! I'm all caught up now but it initially took me a whiiiiile to get over it. Now that I have shared my spoiler story id love to hear others.

Possible foreshadowing in the Pilot.

Sorry if this has been pointed out before.

Just starting rewatching the series. In the pilot, right before Walt collapses in the car wash, he's pushing a blue, plastic, 55 gallon drum which foreshadows both the color of his signature product and his extra-curricular activities with Gus.

DAE NOTICE???!?!?!?!??!?!!?

Also, Skylar is still an insufferable bitch.

Did Walt feel bad about killing Mike?

This is something that's always perplexed me a bit, and I've seen the show three times now. In Walt's rambling excuses, he really does seem sorry that he killed Mike. At this point in the series, I really hate Walt, and he doesn't start to redeem himself as a human until Ozymandias with that phone call. But this is one part where I'm always doubting myself. Is Walt's humanity showing here or is it just him trying to justify his actions with lies as usual?

[EVERYTHING] Am I the only one who thoroughly enjoyed every episode of season 7, including episode 6?

With all the recent hate and nitpicking on social media, I feel as if I'm one of the few, if not the only one, who really enjoyed season 7 as a whole and didn't have a problem with all the fast-traveling. I just rewatched season 1 and after Ned's death, in the very next scene we see Robb and Catelyn mourning. News travel fast. Also, it makes perfect sense for Daenerys to go north and save Jon, it makes perfect sense that her dragon died, - she sees the threat for herself, she understands Jon's struggle, and she now has a personal reason to join him go fighting the army of the dead. As I've said to a friend of mine countless times, it's not fan service if it's done right. (Of course it can still be fan service, but not BAD fan service, is my point.) I'm just sick and tired of defending my favorite show on television to everyone around me, and yes, I've read the books. They're different. I think what D&D have done with what they have (Outline for main characters) is pretty impressing, and I would rather have seven good, long episodes than 10 shorter ones with added scenes that do not further the plot. The politics and intrigues no longer belong on Thrones, we're in the final act now, it's the fight against the dead that matters. It's not the same show anymore, it's different, I get it, but it's still good, in my opinion.

Will Oceanside attack Alexandria but fail (remake)

Sorry everyone the people of reddit was removed the original discussion here for some reason just so you know this is not a spoiler this is just a theory

we seen how the oceanside people are in the walking dead they kill strangers no matter what when they enter the camp after what happened to there male members of there group. in this case this how someone becomes just as bad there enemies, you cant judge some trespasser to be some homicidal maniac and kill them or else you be just as bad like i said. rick took there guns and asked to join them but their leader natania refused we seen how she even when tara said her friends weren't there to hurt anyone natania still threatened to kill her if ricks group doesn't leave. this character pretty much pisses me off, luckily her granddaughter punched her in the face and when the walkers came. You think that they wanted revenge on rick and his group for taking there guns by killing them, most of them would try to kill them but not all the most likely ones would be the young ones and cyndie because cyndie knows the things her group was doing was wrong and the children can be taught whats right and whats wrong. ricks group would win because they have been through a lot worse situations and most of them manage to survive the hail of bullets. So what you guys think, leave your comments below.

[No spoilers please] Anybody else love this show more than Breaking Bad and hates Chuck's guts?

I just finished season 2 on Netflix, so please no season 3 spoilers. I love this show so much more than BB. Also, I can't stand Chuck and found myself sadistically enjoying his episode with the CAT scan. I hate that character so much and his whole hypersensitivity schtick. Also the way he didn't tell Jimmy that their mom called out his name right before she died. What a scumbag. It speaks volume to Jimmy's character (I mean his moral fortitude) that he still cares for him like he does. I don't have any siblings but I think I would've taken my distances from such a despicable person by now. Opinions?

[SPOILERS] Half Measures

Thought I would rewatch Better Call Saul after re-watching Breaking Bad and it's even better the second time around.

In BB, S3: E12 Half Measures, Mike surprises Walter with a visit to his house and tells him a story about confronting a chronic wife abuser back when he was a beat cop. Mike intervened, and almost killed the wife-beater, but gave in when the abuser promised to change his ways. Shortly thereafter the man beat his wife to death. Mike's mistake was to take a half measure when he should have taken a full one. "No more half measures, Walter," he says referring to Jesse.

Rewatching BCS for the second time, I see just how hard it is for Mike to kill and is shown multiple times through out the series thus far. S2: E4 Gloves Off, Nacho asks Mike to take out Tuco but Mike offers instead to just get him in jail, even though this would cause him physical harm. S2: E6 Bali Ha'i, after Hector's men leave Mike is visibly unsettled from the encounter. Finally, S2: E9 Nailed, Mike disarmed Ximenez, ties him up, blindfolds and gags him with duct tape. Nacho claims that he knows only one individual who would rip off drug money but leave a witness alive, only one criminal who is hesitant to kill: Mike.

In BB, Mike really was a stone hard killer and always took full measures when needed, without hesitation. However, in BCS, he is very timid of pulling the trigger. The story he gave Walter seemed way too real to be a theoretical metaphor and took place before he came to Albuquerque.

So my question: Why does Mike keep talking half measures?

I would love to know peoples thoughts and opinions on this.

Thanks!

[SPOILER] Stop Saying For Certain Things That We Don't Know For Certain!

There has been a lot of downvoting when anyone brings up the possibility that Chuck may have survived. There are seemingly even direct misinformation campaigns regarding it. Did he die? Maybe. I'd even go as far as to say most likely. However, until one of the writers says one way or the other, Chuck is the cat in Schrodinger's box.

"But Fuzzy, the writers literally said Chuck is dead!"
Okay, show me. Show me an article where Gould or Gilligan says anything directly indicating that Chuck died. The closest I've seen is - “We try not to screw around with the audience where ‘you thought it was this, but it’s now that’,” said Gould, “To build up the way we did and not have consequences, it would be a wet cracker.” That wouldn't exactly hold up in court.

"McKean said he was dead in a deadline.com article!"
McKean is an actor, not a writer. Gould may have told him straight out that he was dead, or maybe he implied it. Either way, actors are NOT reliable sources for story not yet written. They learn for sure during the initial read-though of the script after it's written, and even then there's a chance of change if it doesn't feel right. Over and over again we hear about actors being blindsided when they read about some emotional moment in the read-though. More recently, Odenkirk even stated that Chuck's fate ultimately lies with the writers who "keep their options open."

"BUT THEY SAID HE WAS DEAD IN [insert one of many articles here]!
Oh yeah? Someone else who has no say or inside information said he was dead, eh? Unless it's a quote from Gould or Gilligan themselves, it's NOT a certainty.

I'm not saying Chuck lives. I'd be as adamant about this if people were saying that Chuck survived. We don't know, and no one will tell us because, as Gould said in a Variety.com interview, "I don’t want to define anything more than what’s on screen."

[EVERYTHING] Littlefinger joins a growing list of characters...

Characters who were killed in the same or similar fashion as in their most infamous moments. In no particular order:

  • Ned Stark used his greatsword Ice to behead the Night's Watchman; he was beheaded with his own sword.
  • Joffrey gave the command to execute Ned; he was killed in a way that took away his ability to speak.
  • Tywin ordered the Red Wedding, where numerous Stark men were killed by crossbow-wielding musicians; he was killed by a crossbow.
  • Roose Bolton killed Robb Stark with a knife to the heart; he was killed by a knife to the heart.
  • Walder Frey ordered Catelyn Stark's throat cut at the end of the Red Wedding; he had his throat cut by Arya.
  • Ramsay Bolton was fond of feeding people to his hounds; he was fed to his own hounds.
  • The Sand Snakes were each killed in a way that mirrored their own style: Nymeria was strangled by her own whip, Obara was impaled with her own spear, and Tyene was killed by her favorite poison.
  • Olenna Tyrell killed Joffrey with poison; she was executed with poison.
  • Littlefinger betrayed Ned Stark by putting a knife to his throat, and the Valyrian Catspaw Dagger was used in the attempt to have Bran Stark assassinated, which he intentionally blamed on the Lannisters, sparking the Lannister-Stark conflict. He was executed by having his throat cut by the Valyrian Catspaw Dagger.

Edit: changed the wording about Bran's attempted assassination.

Are there any more that I haven't thought of?

Kim, golf, Breaking Bad.

Originally posted here

BCS S03E05 The guy coming out of the banking regulation meeting or whatever with Paige and Kevin says he has to work on his swing and "golfing is a contact sport".

BCS S03E08 Kevin and Kim discuss how "...the water gets tricky on the back 9 there" and that growing up where she did "there was pretty much nothing else to do".

BB S04E07 Saul on phone after Walt blows up his own car: "...about that other thing, unrelated, uh, yes, I can get you in, but I gotta warn ya, the 8th hole is murder...tee time 7am sharp, prepare to have your ass handed to you..."

Conclusion? There will be violence on a golf course (Four Hills?) and later I don't know maybe in the Breaking Bad timeline Kim/Giselle runs the golf course, launders money for Saul and hands chumps their asses on the green for cash and glory.

I would steer clear of CBS all access: My nightmare story

Greetings,

I purchased the free trial of CBS all access in February in order to watch The Good Fight with my girlfriend. While a great show, the experience has been terrible.

The app and playback worked fine, good even. The problem came in the cancellation. I cancelled before the trial was up and forgot about it. I noticed the charge in April and contacted the company. They proceeded to tell me in email that they would not offer a refund based on this in their terms doc :

8.5 No Refunds. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. As described further in Section 8.6, even if you cancel All Access during a monthly subscription period, you will not receive a refund for any portion of the Fees for the remainder of that subscription period. In rare circumstances, we may provide a credit, refund, discount, or other consideration to some or all of our subscribers (“Credits”). The amount and form of such Credits, and the decision to provide them, are at our sole discretion. The provision of Credits in one instance does not entitle you to Credits in the future for similar instances, nor does it obligate us to provide Credits in the future, under any circumstance.

CBS told me that I had (2) All Access accounts and had signed up with two emails. I'm not sure how this was even possible as I only have one email. They further told me that my account would cancel in May.

Welp, they're still charging me. I've tried cancelling a dozen times and calling several, but it's gotten to the point where I will have to cancel my card. I did speak with someone today who said he "escalated" for a refund, but there's apparently no guarantee and I'm not going to hold my breath. Further, they would only refund to the date I started calling them, not the actual date of the cancellation.

I am looking forward to Star Trek Discovery, but I am not subscribing to the service again. I appreciate it's not a ton of money, but the frustration is great.

Why does Madrigal have a distribution centre in...Arunachal Pradesh?

In S3E9, when Mike stands up to hand over his ID, we can see a map behind him in the office - it shows Madrigal's shipping routes out of Germany. Interestingly enough the distribution centre in Asia is either located in Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh or middle of nowhere in China.

Designer humour? Maybe someone with a background in logistics or a better eye for maps can shine some light on this!

[Season 3] Question that came up about S3E1 No Mas.

Alright, full disclosure, long story short, the first time I watched much of Season 2 and 3 I was very feverish and sleep deprived, so I may not have absorbed everything quite fully that happened.

Today I have begun to rewatch these episodes a second time, and I realized that a scene that I had previously thought I hallucinated was actually a real thing.

In the opening scene of No Mas, it shows a bunch of random people slithering on the ground like snakes in the same direction. The assassin twins drive out of the car and start slithering on the ground with the rest of the people.

They come to a shack and go inside and there's a bunch of candles and statues inside, they put a picture of Heisenberg with it all.

Frankly, I don't know if I missed a reference somewhere or what, but that scene made no sense to me and seems like it was from an entirely different show. Could anyone explain it to me?

Some Thoughts on Kim Wexler and Her Relation to Breaking Bad.

I was just rewatching Season 3, and besides for Mike, Kim is my favorite character on the show. I was think (and truly hoping) that things didn't spur between her and assault, and hope nothing bad happens to her; I mean, let's face it, it's the Breaking Bad Universe, characters are known to die.

Then I got thinking: Saul's external sources were never really disclosed or covered, unless they had direct relation to Walt or Jessie. With that being said, there's really no reason why Kim can't exist within the Breaking Bad universe. It was never said that Saul wasn't married or didn't have a girlfriend, and Kim still could have been just practicing law somewhere else in the ABQ. I would like to think she's still alive and has maintained contact or relationship with Saul; mostly because I don't want her to die, I guess.

I mean, I know it seems a little implausible that Jimmy would just up and leave by the Cleaner at the end of Breaking Bad if he and Kim were married or together, but he obviously cares about her greatly, and he could have just been having to leave to protect her.

I think my perfect dream ending to Better Call Saul's epilogue (the Black and White stingers that show him managing a Cinnabon in Nebraska) would be for him to leave work one day, and drive to the airport and pick up Kim at the gate, when it's finally safe. I think that would be great, albeit probably too saccharine for Gillian and co. I don't know, what do you guys think?

I am the type that really enjoys a discussion. Talking and reading about the episodes and theories is what first attracted me to this sub. But lately I've been browsing less and less, and I'll tell you why.

Seems like anytime I am reading a good thread about Jamie, Arya, Jon/Aegon, or any of the other main characters from our story, someone has to start bitching about plot armor and the writing on the show. Seriously? Get the fuck out of here with that shit. Seems like people just want to find something to bitch about and it's really annoying me to the point that I don't even want to browse the sub anymore.

Look, there are less storylines and characters that the writers can just kill off. We are in the final act and shit is getting really intense! The reason these characters are our heros is BECAUSE of the fact they have survived all of these hopeless scenarios. It just becomes very disappointing when I'm reading a theory thread and all of a sudden someone wants to be negative Nancy talking about "plot armor" like it doesn't exist in every other story ever told.

[S7E7] Contest #7 - Draw/craft your favorite scene from episode 7

All we're asking is for you to draw or craft your favorite scene from the episode (or one you just particularly want to draw) - whether it's digitally, using real paint, using pencil, or whatever else, we're fine with that. Upvotes can decide.

Rules:

  • The episode we're talking about is episode 7, The Dragon and The Wolf
  • We'd like people to draw scenes, but we're intentionally being pretty lax with this rule - upvotes can decide and we want people to be creative
  • This post will stay open until Friday, 11:59pm GMT. Results will go up on Saturday.
  • The user with the most upvotes will win, there will be a runner-up prize, and one random entry will also be selected to win a prize.

Prize:

  • The winners will receive a copy of the official Game of Thrones Graphic Novel, Volume One (or equivalent if it isn't available in their region, and we can work something out if you already have it).

Good luck!

Please only use this post for entries. Modmail us any questions.

[EVERYTHING] I don't think we've quite appreciated exactly how screwed Westeros is about to be.

The Night King now has a dragon (thanks, Dany!). So far most discussion I've seen has focused on the dragon's power, as we saw when it breached the Wall this week.

But the dragon has a far greater power in the Night King's hands - its mobility. The Night King can now fly anywhere in Westeros relatively quickly. And he can raise the dead. Not only is this a place where people don't burn the dead, but due to the recent wars ravaging Westeros there are plenty of corpses lying about or in mass graves.

At the moment the heroes think the battle will be fought in the North on a front defined by the advance of the army of the dead. But they're about to be proven horribly wrong. If the Night King takes off on a grand tour, the entire continent will be facing a zombie apocalypse overnight. Cersei thinks she can quietly rebuild her power while the fighting happens elsewhere? Wrong. Dany thinks her armies can march up the Kingsroad untroubled? Wrong. Euron thinks the Iron Islands (or even Essos?) are a safe haven? Wrong.

[EVERYTHING] Tyrion/Jaime/Cersei/Arya: costume clues from the finale show what their motivations are

Back for one last costume analysis for this season! I've already done a thorough one for Sansa, and one comparing Dany v Cersei v Jon so this time I've focused on Tyrion, Jaime and Arya. There are some critical clues about Tyrion's mindset, what he might have spoken offscreen to Cersei and whether he'll actually betray Dany. Jaime's costume (and the evolution of the Kingsguard armor) was intriguing. And I've analyzed Arya's costume and found some interesting tidbits there too. As a costume history major, here's my take:

Tyrion

Tywin

Tyrion's costume is similar to his father's outfit (and Cersei's dress inspired by him), if you look at from afar. Up close, the difference is Tywin and Cersei's outfit had laser-cut holes and a fabric layered underneath creating a dotted effect. Tyrion's dotted effect is due to embossed dots on his clothing.

There's definite significance to this because of the conversation between Tyrion and Cersei (some of it, which happens offscreen). What on earth would drive Tyrion to wear a Tywin-like outfit? After all, he didn't, prior to his arrival at the Dragonpit.

Tyrion's mind throughout this entire season was on legacies and succession, be it the future of House Tarly or House Targaryen. That was what Tywin drilled into him in season 2, that family (name) is all that matters. (Coincidentally, Tywin is wearing that same outfit in that conversation with Tyrion.) During the loot train sequence, only Tyrion's sleeves are Tywin-inspired, showing that he's just starting to feel conflicted about destroying the Lannisters. Then in the finale, even his doublet becomes Tywin-inspired so we can assume his conflicted feelings have increased.

Cersei goes on to accuse Tyrion of being the sole reason for the destruction of the family, something that's always been a sore point for him, and he denies it, saying he was truly sorry about Myrcella and Tommen's death. The outfit was a hint that there's still a part of him that wants to honor his father's words and ensure the Lannister name lives on.

My theory: I think the deal that Tyrion and Cersei struck was something along the lines of him ensuring the safety of Cersei's unborn child. I don't think it's anything more than that. He's still on Team Dany - hence, the difference in the outfits of Cersei/Tywin and Tyrion. Interestingly, Dany has wondered this season if Tryion doesn't want to hurt his family. But actually it's the family name he's more concerned about.

Dothraki

Just found this interesting: the Dothraki in the finale were wearing more layers than before, namely Lannister clothing that probably was their 'spoils of war' after the loot train sequence. They're wearing loose doublets, the kind often worn by Jaime. The Dothraki pictured here even has the a Lannister gorget (armor to cover the throat) strung around his neck (if you rewatch that scene you'll see the Lannister armor symbols on it)

Kingsguard during Mad King's reign

Kingsguard during Robert's reign

Kingsguard during Joffrey's reign

Kingsguard during Tommen's reign

Queensguard during Cersei's reign

Someone had asked me to analyze Jaime's armor and I think the evolution of Kingsguard armor is important in his costume story.

During the Mad King's rule, the armor is fairly unadorned aside from the Targaryen sigil and incorporates the Targaryen black, and silver colors. During Robert's rule, the sigil is a crown, it's more embellished, and the colors used are white, muted grey and gold. During Joffrey's rule, there's not much change, though in the fourth season Baratheon antlers creep into the design. During the latter half of Tommen's reign, the only change is the sigil becoming a combination of the Crown and the Faith.

But during Cersei's rule, the armor deviates in a major way to make the Queensguard act as an extension of Cersei. The sigil is Cersei's crown, the Lannister gold has been stripped away just as it has in her outfits in favour of black and silver (taking inspiration from the Mad King's reign), and the clothing they wear underneath the armor looks similar to Cersei's Tywin-inspired outfit.

Jaime armor

Jaime last scene

After Jaime was dismissed from the Kingsguard by Tommen, he starts wearing Tywin's armor. Interestingly, that has meant Jamie has worn each Kingsguard armor mentioned above except the one during Cersei's reign. That's important because it shows Jaime is no longer an extension of Cersei, although still fighting for the Lannister name.

When he's not wearing the armor, Jamie wears a black doublet. In his final conversation with Cersei, he's wearing that black doublet underneath. However, when he's riding his horse in the final scene, not only has he lost the armor but he's also changed his doublet to a brown one. This wasn't just him walking away from Cersei but also looking to start afresh (not unlike the Hound discarding his armor for plain clothing and regaining his humanity).

Note: Browns, blues and greys are predominantly Stark colours while blacks, greys and reds are Team Dany colors so that could be a sign Jaime will not join Tyrion on Team Dany and instead serve the Starks (Brienne is there, he owes an apology to Bran, and he's not been released from his vow to Catelyn to protect Sansa and Arya). Just my two cents.

Cersei

Cersei is wearing a dress resembling chainmail. Another callback to her conversation with Robert in season 1 - "I should wear the armor, you the gown."

When she's walking away, you can what appears to be origami pleats at her back, at first glance a lot like Dany's in her winter coat. The back panel on Dany's represents the back of a dragon, but why then does Cersei have one? Well, the main difference is Dany's back panel extends all the way to the bottom like a dragon's spikes, whereas Cersei's goes only slightly past the waist, similar in shape to a human backbone (and the backbone's connected to the neckbone...). I get Alien Queen vibes from it and though that's probably not what we're supposed to conclude, it seems to signify something sinister, which is Cersei's persona.

Arya before reaching Winterfell

Arya in Winterfell

Arya's cloak in comparison with other Stark cloaks

Till now, we've seen Arya stick to several nondescript outfits, playing the part of a boy, a cupbearer, a shellfish merchant, a serving girl for the Freys, etc and eventually Walder Frey himself. In the beginning of the season, she wears a makeshift cloak made of distressed cloth, suede instead of fur and chainmail, indicating that she's not Arya Stark yet.

When she finally reaches Winterfell, she reclaims her Stark identity, opting for a new asymmetrical cloak lined with fur. The fabrics get an immediate upgrade. It's lighter than the cloak her sister wears, and leaves her left hand (her dominant hand) unrestricted, and thus suitable for fighting and drawing out her weapons. There are elements of Ned (most notably her hair), but she's also not a carbon copy of him. The cloak, in particular, shows she's always ready for a fight. Sansa and Jon, in that respect, wear their (heavier) cloak more like Ned, and therefore aren't as keen to fight.

Arya becomes Sansa's weapon

The exception, though, is Sansa's outfit when she exposes Littlefinger. She wears a light cloak, draped in a way that exposes her right hand (her dominant hand). She doesn't have any literal weapon to draw out, but as mentioned in the Sansa costume analysis, her necklace is looped around her belt to the right side like a sword and it is supposed to be a symbol of her weapon (the costume designer confirmed the necklace's pointy end represents Arya's Needle so in the bigger picture it also represents Arya). Going by that, Sansa's weapon is Arya and she draws her out costume-wise and literally (calling her to the room). Thus, Ned's belief that 'the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword' was honored in the end.

What did you think of The Deuce pilot?

So the pilot came out several days ago on HBO Go ahead of its premiere on September 10th I think. Unfortunately, for my fellow Brits Sky Atlantic won't be airing it until October.

I thought it was an extremely strong premiere. James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal and the two main pimps we're introduced to at the start were superb. God damn did they get the 70s feel spot on, the costumes were fantastic. Possibly another huge hit for David Simon.

Just wondering what you all thought?

What do the zombies want? Question from someone on the first season.

Listen, I'm only on episode 3 of the first season and I've never read the comics, so my questions are based on a few assumptions. My apologies if these have already been discussed here or if the tv show has already answered my problem in more recent seasons. Here goes:

So, it seems to me that the zombies eat the living rather than just turning them if they're in big groups. Like they just collectively devour them. I'm assuming this is because the zombies have some sort of need to fulfill, or they're simply 'after' living flesh, for whatever reason. My question then is why the zombie population seems to be growing so rapidly? They seem to eat the living rather than turn them, I assume it's not because they need the nutrition or because it has some other beneficial effect for them. If anything you'd expect their numbers to shrink because these zombies die off automatically, right? Their bodies seem to deteriorate, and I know this show isn't exactly rooted in reality, but a corpse exposed to air doesn't last that long. Despite the scarcity of living flesh, there seems to be no Malthusian trap or anything at play because firstly the zombies don't require it and secondly they should either die off or in any case shouldn't grow in numbers.

Can someone please enlighten me about some of the issues touched upon here?

Obviously we all know Walt White gets a lot of support despite the evil things he does BUT its still surprising that fans root for him over Hank a DEA agent. Obviously Hank is not squeaky clean...he can act like an asshole sometimes BUT at the end of the day he is doing his job trying to bring down drug dealers and murderers like Walt

Comic spoiler: after the amc tv show ends, (and some time passes, maybe, 3-5 years?) I think it could be a awesome idea, to reboot the show, but animated, in a comic book style.

I was thinking similar to the hbo spawn animated series, only this time it could be on Netflix, or hbo, or any platform that Robert Kirkman could really just, not hold back. I was thinking maybe in 30 min blocks, or 1 hour blocks? Because though the amc show is great, there is a lot of parts that are watered down.

I can't stand these characters

The show came out when I was 7 and ended when I was 12, as you may have guessed I did not watch it at that age but ive just finished season 3 episode 5 "Mas" and I want to jump into my projector screen and kick the shit out of Skyler and Jesse.

Let's start off with the better of the two, Jesse. The guy who has done little to nothing for Walt but create problems. So far, all he's really done is shop and run a week long system that ended up with one robbery, one arrest, and one death. GG Jesse. But now I'm getting real fucking pissed. Walt is trying to stop, then gets the generous offer from black pollos guy. Jesse comes out of nowhere demanding Walt let's him use HIS RECIPE. JESSE ACTUALLY THINKS ITS HIS RECIPE TOO? WHAT THE FUCK! Honestly would not care if he just threw up with his dirtbag gold digging girlfriend and died that night.

Now let's move onto the "bitch" as Walt Jr would so correctly say. This woman has made me more angry at the show than fucking LORI IN THE WALKING DEAD! She bitches to Walt about risking his life to get money for cancer treatment and his family? Really? Then goes and wants to spend his fucking money? AS SHES BEING A BITCH ABOUT HOW HE GOT IT?! And not to mention she keeps fucking her boss and what's next? Just stop by when she needs a quick 50 Gs from Walters risk and dedication? Fuck this lady. I know her actor has written some bullshit article about how people just don't understand her character but I can see damn well that she's a selfish prick who only stays with Walt because she has such little backbone to just get the fuck out of his life. If I were Walt, I would ditch this bimbo and in a few months drive by her fat ass in a McLaren and see how she feels then!

Thanks for reading my rant and I can't wait to see what bullshit these two characters do for the rest of the series.

Wouldn't it make much more sense to just leave 1 poison pill in the bottle and wait it out? Then, in the next few days, after taking his normal heart pills, he will eventually take the one poison pill and will die, but it will be much more random and hard to trace back. Idk if this actually ends up happening (I paused the episode to write this) but seriously, its almost foolproof.

Will Oceanside attack Alexandria but fail?

we seen how the oceanside people are in the walking dead they kill strangers no matter what when they enter the camp after what happened to there male members of there group. in this case this how someone becomes just as bad there enemies, you cant judge some trespasser to be some homicidal maniac and kill them or else you be just as bad like i said. rick took there guns and asked to join them but their leader natania refused we seen how she even when tara said her friends weren't there to hurt anyone natania still threatened to kill her if ricks group doesn't leave. this character pretty much pisses me off, luckily her granddaughter punched her in the face and when the walkers came.

Theory on Aron Paul's Acting

Just finished watching the series for the first time, wow. That's about all I can come up with. I was so invested in these characters, and I think the ending was beautifully orchestrated to leave you thinking and satisfied at the same time.

The reason for this post is to get confirmation on something I noticed about Jesse about partway through the fourth season. He is always flexing his jaw, opening and stretching it out, and it looks like he's in some pain. My theory is that this started after he was beaten by Hank, can anyone confirm? I think it's a real testament to the detail that was included, that Jesse has lasting physical impacts from the beating, I feel like many shows would have just moved on to the next episode without giving it another thought.

At any rate, just wanted to share my idea, and to point out just one small aspect that I think makes this show as great as it is.

[EVERYTHING] Theon is the drowned god.

After all the shit Ramsay put Theon through, he is dead inside. And what is dead may never die. In his fight during the finale, you can just see it on his face that no beating will stop him. He has truly embraced his house words and probably doesn't even realize it yet.

Re watch advice

Okay. So during every off season I always always always re watch all seasons starting with season 1. Well I've been busy re watching all the MCU films, flash, legends of tomorrow, arrow to re watch twd so I'm in a time crunch. I'm a student so time isn't really on my side at all. What season should I start at and what season should I cut? I really don't know what to do. I want definitely 5-7 but after that idk what I should do with 1-4. Suggestions? Because I don't have a favorite season because I'm obsessed with the show and love every single season to the fullest And I just got my S7 DVD in the mail today so that's why I'm bringing this up.

[S7E7] Contest #7 - Draw your favorite scene from episode 7, digitally or on paper (entries open when this post is 23h old)

The entries to the two drawing contests previously held were fantastic, so we're opening it up again to hopefully encourage some fan art for that amazing episode. All we're asking is for you to draw your favorite scene from the episode (or one you just particularly want to draw) - whether it's digitally, using paint, using pencil, or whatever, we're fine with that. Upvotes can decide.

Rules:

  • The episode we're talking about is episode 7, The Dragon and The Wolf
  • We'd like people to draw scenes, but we're intentionally being pretty lax with this rule - upvotes can decide and we want people to be creative
  • Post will go up at 5pm GMT tomorrow (which is midday Eastern Time, and 6pm in Britain), and stay open until Friday, 11:59pm GMT.

Good luck!

Please only use this post for questions, not discussion of scenes

[MAIN SPOILERS] If anyone still doubts that....

....Jon is the prince that was promised and that it's Jaime or someone else, now that we know that Jon's real Targaryen name is Aegon actually means a lot for this prophecy. I was reading a Clash of Kings and I came to the part where Dany is describing her vision of Rhaegar in the House of the Undying to Jorah. "There was a woman in a bed with a babe at her breast. My brother said that the babe was the prince that was promised and told her to name him Aegon". In that vision, Rheagar looks at the baby and says "His is the song of ice and fire", being Jon's half Targaryen, half Stark origin. Surely this is undeniable proof that Jon is the prince that was promised or at least him and Dany are.

[EVERYTHING] The general they NEED

Throughout the season people have speculated that Dany needed someone with experience to lead her armies.

Many thought that it could be Jorah. But he has no real experience leading armies.

Tyrion has gotten more men killed than anyone.

Jon is a great fighter but he would have led his men to defeat against Ramsey if not for Sansa and littlefinger.

Davos has been defeated more than once.

Dario is an impulsive murderer and isn't suited to do what's best for the people.

Edit: Grey Worm. Someone below pointed out that I missed him. Grey worm is a soldier. He carries out orders and is a master killer. But you don't see him contributing during strategy meetings. He has never been portrayed as providing value in terms of high level battle tactics.

And so on...

But finally, Jaime Lannister rides north. He who has learned from his mistakes against Robb Stark. His recent loss was unavoidable against 100,000 Dothraki and a dragon. But his strategy of late in battle has been sound.

He will lead Danys armies in the great war....

Question about the introduction of Hector Salamanca in BB.

I'm rewatching (again), and I'm at S2E2 "Grilled" this morning, where Tuco kidnaps Walt and Jesse and takes them out in the desert to Hector's house. Hector is basically fully dependent; he's in a wheelchair, can't speak, probably needs assistance for basic needs. Does he live out there in that house in the middle of the desert all by himself?! Who cooks/cleans for him? Who helps him bathe/use the restroom, etc.? What if there's an emergency, and he needs help? He can't call anyone. I can buy that people probably bring him groceries and check in on him once in awhile, but why would he be living in desolation all by himself?

Walter in Hank's office planting/retrieving the microphone S.5

Perhaps "Dead Freight"? Not sure of the exact episode.

But he knows the exact thing to do and say to get Hank to leave to go get them coffee. He knows that talking about his marital troubles will make Hank uncomfortable and use any excuse to "let him compose himself" just giving him enough time to plant the microphone in the photograph, and on his computer.

What is your favorite example of Walter manipulating people to get them to behave exactly as he needs?

[Everything] Ned Stark won the Game of Thrones

You never would have thought, but he did. Because nobody else played it the way Ned Stark did. All of his peers and even most of his father's generation got so convinced that it was this endless twisting coil of machinations and power plays to come out on top whatever the cost. Ned had no interest in their Game. He got sucked into it like a vortex at the end of his life, deeper and deeper until the only thing not going over his head was the executioner's blade. He never stood a chance of survival playing their Game.

And yet, he won.

6 seasons later you realize that he absolutely won.

As Sansa and Arya reminisce on the battlements.

As Jon talks to Theon about the father they both had.

As Bran trips out into infinity watching him every step of the way carrying his tiny hidden dark-and-light-woven thread across history for the part it's yet to play, and then flashes back to the present seeing the waves it's rocking the continent with.

All the other surviving players of Robert's Rebellion, all the major powers were consumed with nothing but dealing and backstabbing one another so as to secure a future of power for their children. All while meanwhile their children were almost completely disconnected from them, embittered, spoiled, or otherwise generally kind of ruined. Ned's absolute antipathy for their Game conveniently left him with a lot more time on his hands. Time he spent doing something else.

Time he spent just being their dad.

Ned's largest concern, more than anything else in the world, was just making sure all the children in his life knew what it meant to be a good person, knew what it meant to be a part of a real family. A noble house is filled with responsibility and entire regions will naturally reflect the aptitude and governance of their rulers. Prosperity, tenacity, or brotherhood will all spread across or forsake the lands in imitation of how its court issues. The other players all endlessly sought more lands and titles to add to the hoard their children would inherit, but half the time didn't even think to ask if their children were ready for it. If they could rule it well.

Ned Stark shaped the players of the next generation.

The Starks were dealt the worst hand in all Westeros. They should have been completely annihilated time after time, and indeed so thorough was the purge that basically the entire continent thought they were, but those persistent Starks remembered every single wise word their father had advised them with when they were young and happy. Because they were the Starks now, the only Starks. Not a single soul over like 24 years old. None of them had even seen a winter. But they knew what was done to him, and that their hour had arrived to test them relentlessly on everything he tried to prepare them for in this orbital dance with death we call life. And thus his plan came into fruition. While everyone else was busy killing each other vying for the Iron Throne, the Starks were undergoing incredible trials in distant lands from their home, living in horrible conditions, suffering immensely, and all the while forging and shaping themselves into an elite tetrabunal of personalities of their generation. The Long Claw, the Wolf's Fang, The Lady's Coat, the Raven's Eye. And upon every victory, they would think of their father.

So much of what will become of Westeros is owed to a single choice Ned Stark made when he was a young man, a choice to keep a promise and take a child in as his own. A choice to give a life. But the man's legacy cannot be held up by a single choice. It was the dedication, that persistent pursuit of principle to pass on to his progeny, the diligence to always be the best father he could, that gave the young Starks their power.

And now they're back.

And more.

He won.
