[Spoilers] Thoughts on Battle of the Bastards

I just re-watched the episode because I'm drunk and it's fucking awesome, and something occurred to me. Sansa gets a lot of flak for not telling Jon about the Knights of the Vale during their fireside chat, AND she tells him he should get more men. People see it as something like a plot hole, or just a bitch move for withholding this info.

It occurred to me during this particular re-watch that she likely intended to use Jon and his men as a pawn. Her primary objective is to guarantee Ramsay's demise. She wants the battle to weaken Ramsay's forces so that the Vale can mop up and kill him... and, sadly, Jon's life may be negotiable to meet this goal, and his men most certainly are.

Firstly, she's not exactly sure when the Vale will be there. Secondly, she doesn't want to divulge her hand because then Jon will wait, and Ramsay won't "come out to play" once the Vale is there, since his numbers advantage is gone. He'll sit behind the gates of Winterfell and force a seige against all his men, and the Vale + Jon & Company may not be successful. She tells Jon he needs more men because she probably fears they'll be obliterated without causing significant enough losses to Bolton's side, and she is probably frustrated and wants Jon to live as well (doesn't give a fuck about his men). She feels the effort is foolhardy and also doesn't meet her goals. So, if this is accurate then she would believe that when the Vale does arrive, they'll be seige-ing Winterfell against Ramsay's full force.

Sorry if this has been discussed already. Again, I'm drunk.

Jimmy must do something with all that money he took

In the flashforward scene when Jimmy was disappearing, he took all the money he had, obviously a lot would go to the vacuum man, but I don't think they'd show us something like that unless it had later importance. I think Gene is probably sitting on a lot of money, and that will come into play as the Gene scenes escalate. I'm reminded of all the money Walt gave for Walter jr when he left new hampshire, I'm thinking something different but along the same theme will happen with Gene. The question is where the money goes.

Patrick Fabian, the actor playing Howard, is actually starring in a movie called DriverX (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4952044/) that could almost be canon to BCS - the character is very same except that this time he is going through financial problems. For those of ya'll waiting on BCS, maybe you'll enjoy his great acting at that movie.

Anyone else root for Jesse throughout the show?

Walt is a great character but he just became more and more unlikable. I wanted him to die/get caught etc. Hank was obsessed and selfish (how he used Jesse in S5 showed that). Skyler was just annoying, didn't care about her at all even though you were supposed to. Saul was funny but didn't have much depth (BCS provides it though, not counting that here).

Jesse meanwhile started out as a stereotypical dealer but his character became way more likable. He showed that he cared about others, he was broken and often used by Walt (especially, what a dick) & co. which made me just feel bad for him and wish he would get out of the life and find some happiness. He wasn't made at all for the "gangster" life.

His story in S5B is just depressing, Walter got off easy in comparison. At the end it was good that Jesse at least was freed..

Aaron Paul did a great job, amazing & very moving performance. I think it was important to have such a likable character in the cast as well.

2019 Television Preview

2019 is shaping up to be a pretty big year: plenty of final seasons and shows returning after not airing this year. Now, most of the shows I'll be mentioning are shows I watch or am aware of (not meant to be a complete list), so feel free to add any other "big events" happening in 2019 on TV and comment in with what you're most looking forward to!

HBO

They're gonna have a huge year. Final seasons of Game of Thrones and Veep, return of Big Little Lies and True Detective, the Deadwood movie, another season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and the premiere of Watchmen. Westworld probably won't be back until early 2020.

Final seasons

Mr. Robot, Homeland, The Affair, The Deuce, You're the Worst, Orange Is the New Black, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Big Bang Theory, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, Gotham, and I'm sure there's more.

Shows switching networks

Brooklyn Nine-Nine to NBC, Designated Survivor and Lucifer to Netflix, The Expanse to Amazon. I only watch The Expanse of the shows mentioned, but it'll be interesting to see if/how these shows will be different when on a new platform.

Other tidbits

  • Veronica Mars revival on Hulu
  • New season of Cosmos
  • Second season of American Gods with new showrunners
  • Maybe season 4 of Fargo? We know it's beginning production next year
  • Season 3 of Stranger Things delayed until next summer
  • Always Sunny on its final contracted season (14). FX and the guys will have to make a decision on whether to end it soon or go on forever.

[SPOILERS] How the biggest reveal of the show changes a scene from S1

I was in another post when I had a bit of an epiphany and thought it warranted it’s own post, it’s possible this is old news to some but I’ve never seen it mentioned so I thought I’d share.

Back in season 1 Robert and the small council are discussing Daenery’s rise to power in Essos and whether she should be assassinated, Ned Stark walks in, scolds the King and then resigns as Hand. At the time the scene seems to show Ned’s integrity, that he is prepared to stand up to and risk his friendship with the King over a point of honour and principle, that he refuses to resort to savagery, it’s a powerful scene.

There’s more to it though, Robert wants to kill Dany because she has a claim to the throne and, even though she’s no threat now, she might become one, we didn’t know it at the time but the exact same thing could be said about the boy Ned has been hiding for 15 years, Jon Snow.

Understanding this throws that scene into a whole new light, yes Ned is principled but Robert’s threats are landing very close to home, when Ned is defending Dany he’s also defending the boy he’s raised as his son, Ned’s still scared of what Robert would do if he ever found out the truth about Jon, that’s what makes Ned so determined to stand up to the King.

How will a certain FTWD season 1 character return?

So the show runners have said time and time again, and I quote “Daniel will return to the walking dead universe at some point” then usually something about not wanting to spoil it. So I’m just wondering, do you guys think Daniel will ever return to fear the walking dead? Or maybe the original show, the rick trilogy or a new spin off show entirely now that they’ve announced a walking dead universe similar to that of the MCU. It’s just that since season 4 started well before the announcement they’ve said “walking dead universe” and not “return to fear”.

[SPOILERS] Calling it now. I know how Jaime's arc ends.

I saw this in a dream, and considering that I believe myself to be a greenseer, I know this will come true.

I base my prediction on two things:

  1. Popular fan theory regarding Jaime and Cersei. More specifically that Cersei will be killed by Jaime.
  2. This being a final season, it will surely have lot of callbacks to earlier seasons. We already could notice this trend on season 7.

So, how does Jaime's arc end, in regards to killing Cersei?

He kills Cersei by pushing her out of the window, the same window where Tommen jumped.

I have a vision where Cersei's plans have backfired, King's Landing is being sacked and Cersei is contemplating suicide (akin to what happened during Blackwater). Jaime arrives to the scene first, worried about her. Cersei, having lost everything, tries to convince Jaime to jumping with her, as they are twins and lovers and meant to be always together, despite their arguments. Jaime thinks about it, suspense is built, but in the end, he will say something meaningful and shove Cersei out of the window (like what he did to Bran). Full circle.

So, calling it now. Come back next year to upvote and gild me for being right.

Rolling Stone editor reports Disney+ has passed on picking up the Netflix Marvel shows

No Twitter links are allowed in this sub, so visit @sepinwall on Twitter.

Unfortunate news, but objectively looking at the Disney+ service and its family-friendly remit, this isn't really a surprise. Sepinwall also reconfirms Marvel Studios (the film department) dislike the television shows, so if they were to ever adapt the characters, it'd likely be a reboot as part of the MCU.

TSDF 9x15 & 9x16 HUGE Tidbbits (Part II)

First Part: https://www.reddit.com/r/thewalkingdead/comments/a19zfr/tsdf_9b_spoilers_comic_arc_adaptation/

From TSDF:

I’m back to ruin your day! EEEK! So the Henry info keeps evolving. Remember, sweet buttercups, that nothing is completely confirmed right now. Things can always change as we learn more. But I know you junkies are thirsty af so I’ll spill what we are currently hearing...

Henry escapes from the Whisperer camp. It sounds like it will happen sometime in episode 15. He tries to make it back to the fair, but somewhere along the way he encounters Alpha. Initially we heard he would be stabbed by Alpha, but his fate was uncertain. However, now we are hearing that he’s killed and is probably a pike victim. I repeat, THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED!! Yet it certainly doesn’t look good at this time. Especially when you piece this together with other tidbits we’ve heard.

Let’s review:

Supposedly in episode 15 they filmed the scene where Alpha shows off her bloody machete, and mentions encountering some trouble on the road. When this scene occurs in the comics, Alpha has already been to the fair, and has killed and piked her victims.

From our sources:

- Alpha visits the fair in episode 15 (supposedly she is wearing a dress?)

- Carol, Michonne, and Daryl are also rumored to be at the Whisperer camp in episode 15.

So this is the sequence I’m starting to SPECULATE based on these tidbits and comic events:

Henry escapes early in episode 15 and heads back to the Kingdom. Meanwhile, Alpha is at the fair secretly luring her victims away and killing them. At some point, she encounters Henry and kills him too. Carol, Michonne, and Daryl are looking for the Whisperers so they can get Henry back (unaware that he has already escaped). The Whisperers surround them and bring them back to their camp where they wait for Alpha. I think Alpha will return at the end of the episode, and that’s when she will flash her bloody machete. This would lead to the eventual pike reveal in episode 16.

Based on what’s starting to trickle out, I really think this whole pikes situation and Whisperer conflict is going to be more complex than the comics. I think there’s more going on here, and we might be in for some surprises.

Is anyone else creeped out by Walt?

I find Walt manipulating Jesse very creepy. Some of their scenes together make me uncomfortable. Has anyone else picked up on these weird manipulative undertones? I just rewatched the episodes where Jesse lives with his parents, which leads me to believe that he looks to Walt for parental approval. Kind of makes me sick to think Walt played on Jesse’s loneliness for that long.

Why are streaming TV ads so repetitive?

I don't own a TV, but I watch several shows online. I end up watching ads on Hulu (for Attack on Titan), AMC (for The Walking Dead), and BBC (for Doctor Who). I fully understand how networks need to make money through advertisement. But for all of these services, it seems like I have to watch the same advertisements dozens of times. I think AMC is the worst offender - sometimes they run the same advertisement multiple times in a row.

Maybe repeated viewings is an effective strategy for advertisers. But is variety too much to ask?

(While I'm complaining, the worst part about online streaming is this. I tune out during an advertisement, and tune back in about 10 seconds after the show has started again. I've missed 10 seconds, so I need to back up. But I back up before the commercial break by accident, and I am treated to the commercials all over again.)

Question about Box Cutter

So this scene has always been on my mind and could't really find an answer to what Walt was doing. So after Gus has killed Victor, Jesse, Walt, and Mike proceed to load Victor and everything else into the barrel. Once all is said and done its just red liquid and floating chunks of Victor then Walt sprays and wipes down the barrel. My question is why is Walt spraying and wiping down the barrel?

What are your favorite light hearted TWD moments

Submitted November 29, 2018 at 09:36PM by Ebelglorg https://ift.tt/2FNyx2L

So I don't like season 4. But I think season 3 had the worst moment of series.

For context, I watched the first 1.5 seasons live. After catching up on TWD S8 I decided to binge 1.5-Current (s4e4 when I caught up). Season 4 was obviously jarring. I don't hate it as much as most, but it did seem to be a needless change of direction. However, I feel the worst moment of the entire series was in Season 3. It's the scene in the bunker where everyone starts passing out due to Oxygen loss. We see certain members of the group die, and turn well before others. In a season in which the season premiere (perhaps unwisely) established a timed example of a human turning at 87 minutes. They backed themselves into a corner and then seemingly violated their own timeline. Alycia being the only one to survive while EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the bunker died was just too much plot armor for me. Kids died, the elderly died. Only Alycia survived. It's not even the walkers that bother me, it's how slow she can control her heart rate. Am I crazy? That's worse than the Filthy Woman imo.

I feel like watching Breaking Bad for the first time... while watching it the second time

I binged the series after in completed in 2013. I thought it was the greatest show I have ever seen(still do) and I talk about it occasionally but never saw even one scene from it afterwards until now.

Now i'm watching it with my girlfriend who is watching it for the first time. Although I remember the significant plot points(like Gus blast, Hank on the toilet scene etc) I barely remember 99% of how shit actually goes down, so I'm enjoying the shit out of it, while watching it a second time.

I highly recommend people to simply not watch anything about the show for a very long time like me, then watch it again. Thanks to human forgetfulness I guess.

Hoping to do a rewatch in the year 2023 again 🤞

Now my question is regarding Gus. And I wanted an explanation as to what inspired the director to have gus' burnt and half explode corpse walk out the door and straighten his tie before collapsing to the ground. For a show that is so grounded in reality this really confused me. Any explanations? I couldnt find any online thanks!

My mom went on vacation to Hollywood in 1997 and watched a show. Apparently the set of Seinfeld was near by and my mom, being young and rebellious, decided to sneak in. But I hasn't even with all that happening in the future, it's still pretty sweet. I mean the whole Maggie went out for a bit is weird. Is Carol the new Rick now?

I mean, Carol has to say goodbye to Henry because he wants to be a blacksmith.

Henry ends up falling for Lydia and escapes with her.

Carol comes looking for Henry and makes it to the Whisperer camp.

Alpha shows Carol the massive horde they have in store.

They see the border Alpha made, maybe the season ends like that.

Now, would be cool to see Carol as the one leading an army against the Whisperers, and because Rick is gone, and Maggie is gone. Then maybe Carol will end up being the one to lead them to war? I don't see Michone doing all the war speeches. Maybe they just all leave it to Negan.

Edit: Now it seems they divided Rick into a bunch of characters.

Carol is the parent figure that has to take care of her kid.

Michone is the Alexandria leader figure

Aaron looks exactly like Rick

And if Maggie returns then she's the one leading them to war

[NO SPOILERS] Game of thrones Open world game. Why has nobody done it yet?

We’ve had a hoax, false info, rumors. A good Plot based game. And a really, really, REALLY shitty cash grab phone game. The whole party. I was hoping we could give out any information or speculation we have here.

I mean, with how successful the series is, I was expecting some game studio to have picked it up by now and make it open world RPG. There’s so much potential you’re practically swimming in ideas to make the perfect GOT game. But nothing, not a word. Bethesda is trying to make Fallout 76 work (its too damn broke to begin with) and then they’ll be busy with elders scrolls 6, project red got cyberpunk. I wonder who else could step up (.....EA....stay away. We do not need Microtransactiona in Game of thrones)

Is there a problem getting the rights to make it?

Is it too expensive to make? Too ambitious?

Does GRRM hate the idea of his series made into a video game?

Or does no game studio or company have an interest in it?

Anybody got something to share on the topic? Give us some hope👍.....or crush are dreams now by telling how the Phone game is the only GOT game we are going to play

My personal favorite comes from Father Gabriel in season 6.

"God will save Alexandria, because God has given us the courage to save it ourselves."

It was this moment I went from despising Father Gabriel, to slowly liking his character. He goes from the selfish coward to taking a brave stand and rallies the other members in the church to take the fight to the Walkers.

Now he's one of my favorite characters.

[Spoilers] Arya is Arya

It seems as if many still believe Arya could be the waiff wearing her face for some reason. When Arya sees Nymeria it's pretty clear that Arya is in fact Arya, even if she told her the direwolfs name. The scene would make no sense, the sense of smell a direwolfs must have is evidence enough.

Little finger is dead. I've seen theories where some are saying he could be a faceless man but it just isn't so. I know he's a popular character and many hate the way he died but with Brandon Stark in the picture it's not likely. I'd say I'm 99% sure Arya is Arya and Little Finger is dead if not the three eyed raven would have said so.

Just some thought, I don’t think Saul was that bad, rewatching this show makes feels now like somebody was pressuring Saul/Jimmy to get Walter and Jessy back to cooking meth, in S3E4 you can see that Mikes talks to Gustavo about Walter’s status with cooking meth, That’s why Saul is working with Mike all that time, maybe Saul got into a mess with Gustavo and know is paying the price trying to convince Walter to do meth again, maybe Gus is threatening him.

Fear the Walking Dead is MUCH better my second round watching. (S1-3)

I started watching FTWD when it came out, and I kinda sorta watched every episode up until some point in S2B.

I decided to give S4 a shot to see if the shake up made me like the show better. E1 was good. (Never thought I'd see Rick motherfucking Grimes on FTWD)

BUT every episode following was just complete shit

I recently started re-watching FTWD 1-3, And I don't know if it's new-found appreciation for the show after the flop that was S4, or if I started paying attention better.

But FTWD was a great show. Still not as good at TWD 1-5., or 9- but... Great nonetheless.

And S4 was a GIANT fuck you to FTWD fans.

And FTWD is definitely a better show than I originally thought.

Would Gus really though ?

I’ve watched the series several times and love the show , but I never had this though until last night. [ripped] . Why would / did Gus really work with Walt in the first place ? He had the lab all set up , he had Gale cranking out 96+% pure meth , his life’s work was complete. Smooth sailing. Did Gus really go against everything he stood for , to have access to a fractionally higher % meth? He would risk everything for this ? It doesn’t mean shit to him . I get the pride whatever aspect of this show but .....really? Gustavo risking everything he worked his whole life building for some slightly better meth? I don’t see it , and it makes me feel a little differently about the show ...

I really miss Mike

Today I was walking at work and saw an old man. I swear I thought he was Mike. "Oh god that's Mike!" I told myself.

I quickly realized I was in real life, that he isn't Mike and that I'm going crazy. I started remembering Mike in BB and then BCS :(

I miss Mike. Don't know if it's his grandfatherly figure. Or his deep experience. Or the impression he gives that he exactly knows where things are going that's why he warns and gives a lot of advice.

I think his character affected me deeply.

What I love about sn4ep13 "face off" ending

By this time we know all Walt has done in the last 5 minutes of the episode, as well as everything before it.

Still the reveal at the very end shocks us when it's not supposed to, cause anyone would think "well no shit, of course it was him"

But they did a good job making Walt convince the audience that in fact, it was not him. Then BOOM Vince got us real good...

Dear Comic and Spoiler Readers:

Please stop leaving cryptic comments all over the TV discussions. I know you're not directly spoiling anything when you say crap like "bet their head will be on a pike" or other cryptic references to comic storylines, but it still ruins a lot of the mystery and thrill.

It would be really nice if those of us who watch the show were able to discuss what we just saw and what we think is coming without people "in the know" butting in to hint at where things are going. Just stop.

Confusion about Poisioning Brock Plot

At the end of season 4, Jesse tells Walt that the doctors said Brock was exposed to Lillie’s of the Field and that’s why he was sick.

Then, why was he fucking crazy with Saul near the end of the series saying that he had to do with Brock’s poisoning with the ricin. I thought he confirmed it was the flowers, not the ricin.

Found something interesting about Ross Marquand (Aaron)

So apparently he has mixed martial arts on his resume which can be viewed on his site here. Aaron was also being trained by Jesus in the show within the 6 year gap which we learnt in the latest episode. Looks like he may be the new martial artist/Jesus of the group.

TSDF - 9B Spoilers (Comic Arc Adaptation)

- Lydia is kidnapped in 9x09 by Michonne and the group.

- Alpha manages to get ahold of a couple hostages: Alden and Luke.

- Alpha brings several Whisperers with her to the Hilltop and demands Lydia back in exchange for her hostages. (9x11).

- Daryl eventually takes Lydia out to them and gives her back.

- Lots of walkers start approaching Hilltop. They are drawn by the sounds of a crying baby that supposedly belongs to one of the Whisperers.

- Alpha demands the Whisperer to leave the baby since it’s attracting walkers. The Whisperer obeys and puts the baby on the ground and they leave.

- Connie runs out and rescues the baby.

- Still not clear if the hostages that Alpha had were successfully exchanged or if they die.

- After Lydia leaves, Henry will follow after her. He ends up at the Whisperer camp where he is held captive. (9x12)

- Daryl will go after Henry. He takes a dead Whisperer’s walker suit and wears it to infiltrate the Whisperer camp. There might be others involved with the search.

- Back at the Whisperer camp, one of the Whisperers is getting punished in the form of a beheading. Apparently some of the other Whisperers have Greek alphabet names too. The one that gets beheaded is a female that might be going by the name Zeta or Delta. (Or hell, it could even be a different one. No confirmation of her name).

- This Whisperer does something to piss off Alpha. Even after apologizing, Alpha shows no mercy on her. She’s beheaded by either Alpha or Beta (There’s conflicting reports of who actually does the deed). Her severed head is presented to the other Whisperers as a demonstration of what happens when you don’t listen to Alpha.

- The Whisperer apparently has a boyfriend/significant other. Beta supposedly holds him down during the beheading. Afterwards, Alpha stabs unlucky boyfriend Whisperer to death.

- As of 9x15, Henry is still stuck with the Whisperers and it’s unclear if he will make it out of their camp alive since he gets into some trouble.

- The fair is also happening at the Kingdom.

- Carol, Michonne, and Daryl are supposedly at the Whisperer camp in episode 15. This scene was also filmed: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/242328956777398272/517415157950054400/HNSg2lY.png?width=278&height=427

Evolution

Evolution” revealed this masterfully. Trapped in a foggy graveyard with an annoyingly incapacitated Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Jesus and Aaron were seemingly rescued by Michonne, Daryl and the new folks. It was another typical last-minute escape, the kind of thing that the show has done countless times to build tension without having to make any major narrative changes. Jesus hung back to show off his stunt double’s flashy slow-motion swordplay, and casually offed the remaining walkers on his way out. But as he took a swing at the last one, it ducked under his slash and skewered him on a blade of its own. “You are where you do not belong,” it whispered, and Jesus once again died for our sins. The whole thing was exceedingly well-done. I had to watch it twice.

The way they tricked/fooled Chuck was so brilliant! Classic ending!

I loved how it's like, haha. There's no battery in here! I knew it. And seconds later Chuck finds a battery in his own pocket. Which leads to his rant Jimmy, ex-wife being embarrassed, etc.

Scene of [SPOILERS] getting under Daryl's skin

I get what are they doing with Henry for having a rough childhood, of being adopted, killing a guy from behind and having his teenager problems but he's not that weird to form that complex dynamic with Lydia.

So props to the person from the writing team that put Daryl in that dynamic since his lifestyle is very similar to the Whisperers and both him and Lydia were abused in their childhood (if they don't go PG on the Whisperers). Seems like she got under his skin saying that he's more alike to the whisperers compared to his own people, so I wonder if they had their eyes on him before but left him alone since he got a similar philosophy. A father/daughter dynamic would be great for them since Aaron teased it too, also Daryl got history of feeling like shit for not being able to help or save other kids in the past, like Sophia and Carl. Thoughts? Thanks for reading!

It only took me (comic book reader) watching a serious spoiler to return my attention to TWD

I used to watch TWD somewhat religiously in the past. It was fun seeing a good amount of comic content find its way into the show and who doesn't love watching zombies?? I made it just past the Whisperers in the comics and haven't read anything since that point.

After Dumpstergate, I found I was scowling at the show a bit more and the final straw revealed itself with Lucille's introduction scene. I watched a couple more episodes after that TERRIBLE execution of the ultimate story buildup and resolved that this show was severely derailed at this point. Then I stopped. All was calm...I had TWD out of my life.

Then yesterday happened...I'm still not sure why, but I had to poke my nose in here because I heard murmurs of a good TWD happening once again. Oh, I'll just click this spoiler video and see what hijinx are abound...I thought I might get another TWD/Benny Hill theme song mashup video or something.

Damnit! That clip was actually good...the 80's horror vibe was strong and awesome and the suspense was BACK. I'm actually kinda bummed that I watched the damn video now, but definitely glad to see that TWD has returned to where it was. Maybe even better (??). I never thought I'd say that!

Lest to say that I watched S9E1 last night and am hooked again. Not sure if I'll bother catching up from missing the episodes after the Lucille powwow—AOW timeline, but I all I know is that I'm back :)

TL;DR I regret watching the spoiler...it was actually a good scene

Looking back this may be the best form of entertainment I have ever watched.

Rewatching the finale and listening to Gilligan’s comments on the ending I swear I shed a few tears. It was just like the first time I watched the finale live, it was like the last chapter of a part of your life. After this I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Breaking Bad has ruined television for me. Scratch that, it has ruined films and television for me. Literally nothing else can compare. It’s a genius work that I truly hope will always get the recognition it deserves. It somehow changed my life and I can’t thank the cast and crew enough for bringing this simple little tale and turning it into the most enthralling and captivating experience of my life. I truly hope to create something I can be as proud of as I am of the job that was done on this show. Nothing will ever compare, and Breaking Bad truly changed the television game forever.

Thoughts on the Breaking Bad movie that’s in the works?

There’s lots of speculation on what will happen in the film. Will Walt live? What does jesse do after breaking out to freedom? What will the general plot line be?

This might rub you guys the wrong way but i seriously doubt Walt lives or ends up in jail or whatever, the TV series of Br Ba on AMC was showing Walt’s life and his own personal transitioning and character development, i feel like Vince Gilligan will depict Jesses point of view in the movie and we will finally have full closure on what happens to him after driving off in the el camino after Walter saves him. as far as the plot line and what jesses does i have no idea what’s in store for what the movie will show us. (BUT IM EXCITED AS FUCK BITCH)

I would love your guy’s input on what will happen in the movie and if you guys think it’s a good idea to continue the story even though vince (creator of the show) said himself that the breaking bad story will end how it ended.

Goodies and baddies

[SPOILER] Longtime BB/BCS tragic here, watching the last episode of BCS season 4 with my girlfriend who has never seen any of Vince Gilligan's work. As Mike chases down the German she asks me if Mike is one of the bad guys. It sounds silly but I honestly didn't know what to say. I feel the overriding theme of both series is how we can start with good motives yet change into something much worse, and the change is an uneven process that often seems to be forced by events out of our control, obscuring the moments when we have real agency. At any rate it's one more thing that made me appreciate the intricacy of plot and character development, and the way I as an audience member am somehow... compromised by letting myself be drawn into the lives of these protagonists. If that makes any sense.

Anyhow, how would you have answered her question?

Do you think Walt will appear in the BB movie?

I know it seems very unlikely that Walt survived at the end when he collapsed from his wound, but to me it wasn't really explicitly shown that he died and that he may well have pulled through. The movie could feature him in prison but I doubt he would last long there whether it be the cancer or some folk who aren't big fans of Heisenberg. It would just be really cool to see Bryan Cranston back in the role, even if it were for just a scene or a cameo.

How did no one ever realize why the cartel didnt kill gus in the beginning of hermanos?

It was because of his network. Literally has nothing to do with chile or anything government. Later in the episode, Gus walks towards the sniper outside of the pollos hermanos factory. The bullets deliberately miss Gus because the shooter and Gus are playing chicken. Gus knows they wont kill him but will kill jesse and mike. Mike tells him later in the episode that it is because Gus has a distribution network, hence the business side of pollos.

My bad if someone did say this but every answer i found was on some bs about chilean military.

Okay one thing I always noticed is this: in book three, Joffrey dies, Tyrion gets blamed and demands a trial by combat, and cersei names one of her father’s bannerman, the mountain, as her champion. He’s representing the crown, cersei and tommen.

Book 4, Margaery gets arrested by the high sparrow for serial fornication and adultery and demands a trial by combat. Thing that sucks for her is, as a queen, she can only be represented by a member of the Kingsguard in any conflict, and Loras tyrell is near death. She wants to call for her brother Garth to represent her, but cersei will not let her.

So is it a plot hole or am I looking too deep into it, because if that were the case, why didn’t Tyrion or anybody point out that cersei can’t call Gregor as her champion? Or was it just a rule cersei made up, because that was a huge plot point.

[Spoilers] Results of the r/GoT deadpool prediction for every character

TL;DR: The stickied comment has simplified results

A while back, we invited people to take part in a simple subreddit deadpool. Here, we've taken the first 1000 results. Why 1000? At a number after that, there were enough leaks/production spoilers to muddy the waters, so it seemed a safe, round choice.

We asked whether characters would end the season alive, dead or undead. Undead generally refers to characters who have been killed, but reanimated. If you thought a character would be turned into a wight and then be killed, you would answer "dead". If you thought a character would not be mentioned in any way, they are assumed to have ended the season alive (unless there's a mass extinction event). If there is a time jump for an epilogue (e.g. Jon dying of old age), it's being excluded.

You can still enter the deadpool by clicking here, and if you're the top scorer, you'll get a shout-out of some sort. But you won't be eligible for the overall prize.

AND SO THE RESULTS. We have very simple, excel-generated graphs too. If anyone would like to make an infographic and maybe get some karma by posting it, I'd be in ur debt.

S02E08 Rewatch Question

During the scene when Jimmy is with the realtor showing Kim the new offices, he describes them as dentists offices (which they are). However, to me by the he's describing it it seems like he's trying to imply that he and Kim were indeed dentists.

If this is the case...why does it matter? Are certain buildings only zoned for certain professions? They don't make it a secret they are running a law practice after they lease the place.

I guess my confusion stems from why Jimmy needed the con the realtor into thinking that actual dentists were going to use the place (assuming that is indeed what he was trying to do. It is a possibility I'm misinterpreting the whole scene). Why would the realtor care what profession is moving in, as long as the landlords get paid?

Walter & Werner (SPOILER!!!)

I think the parallels of Werner and Walter become the most obvious in the scene where Mike confronts them with their (apparently) certain death. Especially as both aks for Gus, because they are sure to persuade him more likely than Mike.

Mike also seems way harder in the BB scene. In the BCS scene is not that coldblooded Hitter yet.

Werner reacts like a pre-Heisenberg Walter White would have reacted to it. Unlike Walter he gets killed for that. Ironically Werner dies because he truelly misses and cares for his family. Something Walter always claimed but in the end failed to prove.

Carol DEFINITELY knows more than she’s letting on when meeting the new group...

When she meets Magna’s group and signs “hi my name is Carol” and says that’s all she knows with a little giggle, I immediately thought back to when they arrive at Alexandria and she pretends to be a defenseless housewife who is entirely dependent on the rest of the group for protection, even wearing sweaters and baking cookies hahaha.

She definitely knows sign language, anyone else get that feeling??

[SPOILERS] Academic publications/articles on Game of Thrones (and ASOIAF)?

Hello!

I am a student who's about to start writing their BA thesis on Game of Thrones. I have found plenty artciles and publications on GoT, but I thought I'd ask here as well, since I know that some people here are probably up to date with this stuff - who knows, maybe I'll find some authors here as well?

Anyway, in my work I'm going to analyze female characters and their role in society and, of course, the Game itself. I'm going to tackle some gender roles problems, and feminism as well. If you know/have read anything that could be of help to me, I'd be extremely grateful!

Why I Believe the Show Got Better (Kang's Method)

It's been a while since I last felt this attached to The Walking Dead. I never missed an episode, but the past couple of seasons have been... well, mediocre at best.

Now, everyone seems to be excited about the show again, and I think I realized what the show's doing that's gripping viewers so much. It's because during the whole Negan/Gimple era, the whole concept of "mystery" was gone.

Now let me explain. The entire show, since it first aired, has been a post-apocalyptic show that had some of its best storylines based in mystery (i.e. the viewer basically not understanding what the fuck was going on). Things like Sophia's disappearance, what the scientist told Rick, the entire Eugene has the cure thing... There was always this sense of the "unknown" out there, forcing the viewers to WANT to know more.

One of my main criticisms towards the whole All Out War storyline (as well as the season leading up to it) was that there was literally none of that mystery. It was just one long buildup. We all knew what's coming. We spent two seasons basically watching a war documentary where the only question was "who would win?" and perhaps "who would die?", which isn't much of a compelling question in an apocalypse movie. There was never this overlying theme of the viewer not knowing what's happening. I don't know if I'm making sense to any of you here, but I just think the show became a very linear, chronological sequence of known events with insignificant possible variations (like who dies because of the war).

Angela knew what she was doing with the time skips (both of them). Time skips means there's a ton of unexplored territory (story-wise). We're back at this point we were at during the beginning of the apocalypse, where the world was unexplored and we had no idea what's going on. Things started popping up, like the surprising rivalry(?) between communities, the X scars that some characters have, Rick's whereabouts, and just a whole lot of other bits and pieces that plant question marks here and there. And I honestly feel that was the main factor making this season much better than the few that came before it.

Even the way the story is handled is very non-linear. We all knew the whisperers were coming, but never understood the how, the when, the where, or the why. There are callbacks to past events which should have always been significant to the characters (like Shane's appearance). Gimple used to literally ignore every past storyline after it ended.

So I think that all this is what Angela brought back to the table to make the show great again, and as a result the character development got way better, and the relationships between them became stronger. It is weird how when I watch it now, I get the same sense of a "crew" I got during the first seasons, although there's a hell of a lot more characters now than before. Even with the communities, it doesn't feel jumbled.

TL;DR: The viewer isn't aware of what's going on anymore, which makes the show more interesting. Time skip helped bring back the mystery of why things are the way they are. Non-linear storytelling and great tributes to past events. All these were missing with Gimple; Angela brought them back.

Appreciation post for Angela Kang

I’ve been watching The Walking Dead since it premiered way back on Halloween night in 2010. Loved the show, episode after episode, season after season, despite a lot of the negative reviews the show began to receive starting around season 6. I still loved it.

With Season 7 and Season 8, while I still watched weekly, it was not easy to defend the show from criticism as the writing and plot went downwards really quickly. I thought the show I once loved was going to keep plummeting until it was ended.

Then Angela Kang took over for Season 9. She did what I thought would be impossible, reigniting the excitement I had in the show from earlier seasons. I thought after Season 8 there was no way the show could pull itself back up - but I was wrong.

In my opinion, despite Season 9 only being halfway through, Kang has done a phenomenal job thus far, even without characters like Carl, and with Rick’s departure.

Sure, Gimple’s first season or two were great too, but after awhile he didn’t know what he wanted to do, resorted to cheap gimmicks, terrible dialogue, and a plot that went nowhere. But it really feels like Kang knows what direction the show needs and how to have characters interact LIKE REAL PEOPLE WOULD.

While people are free to disagree with my thoughts on this season, I just wanted to express my thoughts and thanks for Angela Kang stepping in and making this show a great watch again.

Thank you, Angela.

[NO SPOILERS] I'm quickly catching up but still not ready for S08

I started the series extremely late. I gotta be honest, when I heard about the White Walkers, I stupidly thought this show would be a Middle Evil knock off of The Walking Dead. I was wrong. I bought S01-04 out of boredom last Christmas during the Black Friday special at Target when the seasons were $10 each, and S05 last week when it went on sale. I've just yesterday loaded HBO GO onto my ROKU and am currently gasping during S06 EP10. My excitement for S07 is peaked. I don't want this series to end. I did my best to avoid major spoilers, and I thank you all for being so vaguely active with your excitement on social media.
Part of my wants to apologize for being so late to the party. The other part of me wants to yell at all my friends for not getting me hooked on the show sooner. I quickly become attached to these characters, and find their demises to be heartbreaking. Thank you to the cast for bringing these characters to life. Thank you to the writers for continuing Martin's story. Thank you to the crew for giving these characters a world to live in. And thank you to each and every fan for letting people like me, who are just starting this series or playing catch up, to travel the path at our own pace without spoilers. You all rock!

Sicilenne and the music of BCS and BB (one spoiler for season 4)

Ever since that one episode that opens with Chuck trying to play through Sicilienne, I can't get that song out of my head, and it's the one song keeping me from canceling my Apple Music subscription. It's so haunting and beautiful. It was a bit heartbreaking hearing it at Chuck's funeral.

And the music in general throughout the series - whoever the music supervisor is, is as masterful as Gilligan, Gould, and whoever all else writes the show. I mean, damn. I have aspirations of running my own show someday, and these two shows are master classes, Vince himself being a master of class and humility.

It's just all - WOW.

[SPOILERS] - Common Misconceptions on the Sub

I am quite new to this sub and so far I have seen quite a staggering amount of misconceptions that seem to reappear almost daily. I wanted to try my hand at explaining them.

The Valonqar - I have been seeing things everywhere about "the valonqar will be brother will kill Cersei" or that Cersei's path will have to follow things in line with the Valonqar prophecy. The Valonqar Prophecy Does Not Exist on the TV Series.......yet. The Valonqar does not have to be the way Cersei dies as of what we know now. However she may well do, but there is almost an insistence on here that Cersei must die by a brother or some sort. Well before I go on, let's think about it logically, if Cersei is killed by some random unknown persons brother then it's all a bit silly, I think the brother thing will be literal to Jamie or Tyrion and at a stretch the NK, for me it ends there. However the show has either decided to omit the Valonqar for one of three reasons:

  • They aren't using the Valonqar - in the books Cersei may never even make it to the Iron Throne, but in the show she did, either this is consistent with GRRM or the show decided to keep on Lena Heady who is excellent as Cersei and they may have decided that her death will not be at the hands of her brother.

  • They were planning the second half of the Valonqar prophecy as a flashback so that there is still an element of mystery as to who could kill her and throw off book fans.

  • They will have her die by Jamie or Tyrion and they just want it as a total surprise.

So the Valonqar may happen but in our thinking around theories I think this sub should loosen up a little. Words are wind, prophecies are unreliable, it's a big part of the series.

Azor Ahai

AA will be reborn amidst salt and smoke and under a bleeding star. This is the only reference as to what AA will have to do to come back. There is no Nissa Nissa, there is no forging things in a lion and I think this is another thing people try so hard to fit on to theories like a sheet which is too small for a bed and there is no evidence that this will happen again. The death of Nissa Nissa only forms part of the myth of AA and it is the story of Lightbringer being forged, it had nothing to do with the man himself or any power he may have had. Lightbringer is forged already, it has to be found not reforged and that is only if the show want to include it in the final series. My 2 cents on it is that TPTWP, The Last Hero, AA are all the same person talked about in different cultures, like how the Messiah thing arises in real world religion.

Dany not burning - this is specific to Dany "The birth of Dany’s dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn’t immune to that molten gold.” - this is from GRRM. Jon can burn, Viserys can burn, Dany is not immune to fire she is shrouded in magic because of the birth of the dragons, hence "unburnt" being a title.

If anyone knows anymore then go for it, just from the view on my high horse the more time goes on the lazier theories have become. Game of Thrones theories are a great thing, in a few months there will be no more need for show based theories, so as we try to guess what will happen we may as well work of the right info.
