Negan’s background episode

My favorite episodes are the ones where they have a flashback the whole episode and show a backstory of a character. I especially loved the flashback episode for The Governor. I was thinking that since people are talking about six episodes for Maggie and Rick they are going to need a few episodes without them in 9A. I think this would be the PERFECT opportunity for a good flashback episode showing Negan and some of his past, including his wife and daughter.

I think if they had someone going to chat with him in the cell and he told them his story it would be a good way to fill some episodes. Maybe a background episode and then an episode about him forming the saviors into what it was at it’s prime. Just a thought I had. Opinions on this?

Feeling like the only person that enjoys FTWD atm

I'm really liking the new season so far. The new characters they've introduced I find interesting and i kind of like the mystery of how we went from the dam to sports stadium to the vendetta. I don't need every loose end neatly tied up. I get why people aren't pleased that it doesn't follow on neatly from the end of S3 but personally I don't need to have a linear story spoon fed to me. And sure it does feel now like some sort of third WD series with crossover characters from TWD an FTWD but so what that doesn't make the story they're telling bad. Still looking at the internet it can seem like I'm the only person who isn't hate watching.

Question about Hank's death

I just finished the series for the first time, and something that has been bugging me is when they are about to kill Hank why does Walt offers them money in return for his life? If we truly are to believe that Walt is a sociopath, why would he agree to give up everything he has worked for for the life of his brother-in-law? Is it just that Hank is family and he loves him? I just don't see him giving up everything to save one mans life.

Small detail or just funny coincedence I noticed rewatching the show

Right after Hank is killed, Walt rolls the barrel of money in the desert and a song saying goodbye starts playing, reffering to Hank's death I presume. Hank was the one who commented on Walt stealing the first barrel on the vid tape when he said "roll it you idiots" or whatever he said. Now Walt is actually rolling it whilst mourning Hank.

Thought it was a funny coincende.

[SPOILERS] If rumors are true, predictions...

If Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are really leaving the show I think that the whisperers will kill Rick, Maggie, Ezekiel and possibly Laura & Cyndie as the main spike kills.

Rosita will survive unlike the comics because otherwise there would be too many main character deaths but Ezekiel will keep his comic death so that the leaders of each community will be dead.

Since, Laura is now the leader of the Sanctuary and Cyndie is the leader of Oceanside, these will probably be killed too.

Anyone here who has watch Fargo, or if you haven't watched it, highly recommended, Lester Nygaard like Walt goes through a change, but for people who have seen both shows, who do you think shows the most extreme change and transformation throughout the show? And this isn't really a post to take too seriously, just kind of a little fun and interesting ideas to be discussed about two great characters.

[Spoilers] Does anyone else want an alternate Season 1, where Ned follows Littlefinger's plan?

I am rewatching the show, and I'm at episode 7 now, where Littlefinger suggests Ned takes the power for himself, as he is hand of the king and regent. Of course, in the end, Ned wanted to install Stannis on the throne, but I'd really like to see Ned and Littlefinger work together in a sort of "alternate history".

Obviously I know it's not going to happen, but I think it would've been pretty cool.

[Future Spoilers] I think AMC took my post from 10 months ago too seriously...

Not sure how to link the post this is what I wrote.

I truly believe this show will end with Daryl being the leader for the last season. The audience has shown to love him enough that it could work, nobody else though. I wouldn't care to watch the last season if Carl was the last one, and had several conversations on show about people being "ready" for rick being gone.... which i believe is the show telling the audience this. They have hinted at Daryl being the leader and the last one left a few times, he is a show only character that is a star with the audience. I could see it happening... thoughts?

Did Gus adopt traits from his victims too?

Since there is a general consensus that Walt seemed to have adopted traits from the victims he killed throughout the show (e.g eating his sandwiches like Krazy &). Is it safe to assume the same for Gus?

While he was never ‘nice’, it seems that he transitioned from a pragmatic Machiavellian, to a psychopthic drug lord after he killed the Cartel. For example he went from ‘I don’t believe fear to be an effective motivator’ to ‘I will kill your infant daughter’.

At the same time, he simply could have been adopting a facade the whole time until Walt finally made him crack, but it’s still interesting for discussion.

In S1E2, Cerci tells Catelin that she had a baby boy with brown hair who died when he was little. In S1E4 Gendry tells Ned his mom had yellow hair and she died when he was little. Instead of being Robert's bastard like Ned had thought (because he never knew of the baby boy with brown hair - Catelin specifically says she never knew), Gendry is Robert's first born son and heir. Cerci couldn't stand the baby because it looked like Bobby B, but she still loves her children so she gave it away and told everyone he died of an illness.

It could be a detail but I'm pretty sure the promotional pictures had the yellow and red BCS logo. Now it's grey. The same progression was noted in the opening credits as S3 went by.

Could this illustrate a change of tone in the series? It wouldn't be too surprising given what occurs in the S3 finale.

It's a detail, sure. But the whole game of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul has always been to pay attention to them.

With Andrew and Lauren being signed up for only 6 episodes as of now, does anyone else think that AMC would try to turn it into another shock factor moment by having the mid season end with Maggie and Rick’s heads on the spikes to introduce the whisperers? It’s not like they can kill off any other major characters now for that comic moment since they are already losing 2 of their biggest ones.

At the beginning of the fight we see Skyler pull the knife from the kitchen and swing at Walt.

After a bit of wrestling and fighting Walt is on top of Skyler with the knife until Jr pulls him off and begins calling the Police.

On the phone call Jr states "He pulled a knife on my mum, he attacked her, he is dangerous etc", meanwhile Skyler has a terrified look on her face, she would be scared yes, but terrified when she was the one who started it?

Is it possible Walt blacked out and attacked Skyler and only came back to reality after Jr pulled him off Skyler?

[Comic & Show Spoiler] The future of "The Walking Dead" is a spin-off

(A priori: I'm not a native speaker, sorry for strange sentences and mistakes!)

Robert Kirkman's comics are full with potential and good stories which can still be used if AMC should end "The Walking Dead".

The best move: Let "The Walking Dead" end with season 9. The tv show COULD continue after the departures of Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan but it SHOULDN'T. Don't make it another "Grey's Anatomy" where there are just two, three characters from the start in season XY and the rest is a bunch of new people.

My tv show mantra is always: "It's better to make a painful break than draw out the agony." They've killed the future of TWD with Carl and they're going to kill the past of TWD with Rick. Just let it end...

Let's say there are a few actors who don't want to say goodbye to their characters -- transfer them to "Fear the Walking Dead". Case closed.

And maybe use one or two characters (f.e. Michonne, Jesus) for a new spin-off. No, not a spin-off abouth those TWD characters. The spin-off should be about the Commonwealth. This would save all the potential of new interesting plots and characters from Kirkman's comics. Continue to tell them but in another tv show.

This spin-off wouldn't feel like a boring copy of "The Walking Dead" because the Commonwealth as the setting of a new tv show would bring new challenges. (A bigger community could mean bigger threats, what's the problems in such a huge community and so on.)

How are your thoughts about it?

[Show, Comic, Future Spoilers] Why 9x08 will be the most intense episode ever!!

As many of you have heard by now: Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie) are only scheduled for 6 episodes of Season 9, which consists of 16 total episodes. They seem to not want to return for Season 10. This is a very interesting development, and let me explain why.

Firstly, being in 6 of the 16 episodes for Season 9 is a huge reduction for Andrew Lincoln who was in 15 episodes in Season 8 (14 with lines, 1 with no lines). Lauren Cohan was in 10 episodes in Season 8, again, now being reduced to 6 for Season 9.

AMC's The Walking Dead structures its 16-episode season with a Season A and a Season B. This means episodes 1-8 will be in A, and 9-16 will be in B. Usually, episode 8 has a monumental development that either leaves the audience wanting more or has a big comic book moment. In Season 8, Carl was revealed to be bitten; in Season 7, Negan brutally asserted his rule over Alexandria by killing more citizens; in Season 6, walkers had invaded Alexandria and engulfed everything; etc.

Rick Grimes and Maggie Rhee have a very big presence on the show, and for them to maybe do 4 episodes in Season 9A then 2 episodes in Season 9B would look weird. People would notice that Rick and Maggie were missing. It would be a poor way to explain that both actors no longer are on the show. Thus, there has to be a send-off episode for both of them.

What better episode to do it than 9x08? As stated above, this is usually a big moment for the audience and characters. Now, they can't just have Maggie and Rick kill each other without it seeming contrived. The two characters cannot also walk off into the sunset and leave all the communities for good -- that doesn't work either. Rick and Maggie have no good reason to not be a huge part of the communities and help them grow ... unless ... they die.

Maggie Rhee and Rick Grimes both will have very young children during Season 9, meaning they cannot leave them to walk off on another adventure and leave all our communities behind. We also cannot follow the characters who will stay for future seasons onto the road, as that is an enormous waste of money for AMC. They paid for a windmill to be placed in Alexandria for 3 years. The network will want to continue using the sets for the communities for a long time.

The only option is to kill off Rick and Maggie. Nothing else works -- not them leaving the communities for the road, not the future characters of the show leaving Maggie and Rick behind at the communities. These two huge protagonists need a send-off episode, and it has to be a death episode. A very big and unsuspecting death moment in the comics is when Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, kills Rosita and Ezekiel by decapitation. Their heads, among others, are placed on spikes at a border between the communities and Whisperer country. This would be the perfect moment for Maggie and Rick's deaths.

Considering Carl has died, his storyline with Alpha's daughter Lydia will no longer happen. This allows the showrunner and producers to remix the introduction of the Whisperers. They will appear perhaps around 9x05 and instill nervousness in the Hilltop, Kingdom, Sanctuary, Oceanside, and Alexandria. The horrific fear will not be actualized until 9x08 when maybe Daryl, Carol, Michonne, and Jesus find Rick and Maggie's heads on spikes. This way, the story of Rick Grimes and Maggie Rhee comes to a powerful, and not contrived ending, and the actors are in only 6 episodes.

The aftermath is the sad part. What will most likely happen is Daryl will become a father figure to Hershel Rhee and Judith Grimes, as their parents are dead. Negan will be let out of his cell in order to help defeat the Whisperers. Negan will be redeemed by leaps and bounds in Season 9. He cared about Rick and, to an extent, Maggie. You will see him slowly become part of the main group and accepted by the characters in Season 9B. The audience will hate Alpha far more than they ever hated Negan. Oh, Negan killed Glenn and Abraham? Alpha killed Rick and Maggie! You heard it here first. This is the pathway the show will be going. I promise you.

If Daryl takes the 20 million

I can't wrap it around my head that if Norman takes the $20 million dollar contract deal he will have made more than Andrew Lincoln and probably the entire cast in 8 years, or somewhere close to that figure. Rick has been the main character and life of the show for 8 seasons. I hope Norman doesn't take the deal out of respect for his coworkers who have been seriously underpaid. Especially when Lauren Cohan fought for a raise this season.

This show does an incredible job making you feel the emotion behind simple things like a sword. Yes I know it's a special sword but still. It's just an object but both actors do a fantastic job at showing you how powerful a moment this is for them.

[NO SPOILERS] The reason that Cersei and Bronn never appear in the same scene in "Game of Thrones" is that the actors used to date, had a terrible breakup, and now have stipulations in their contracts that they can't be made to act in the same scene together.

[SPOILERS] Season 1 Gendry

So I'm rewatching the series and just started. I notice one thing about Gendry and Cersei. In S1E2 Cersei tells Caitelyn that she had a boy that was taken from her and he had dark hair, he supposedly died of illness. In S1E4, the first time we see Gendry he tells Ned his mom had blonde hair and that she died of illness when he was still a baby. I know this theory has floated on this sub before I'm just pointing some evidence I saw. Is Gendry truly Cersei and Robert's true son and the true heir to the throne?

Your favorite comic book character and why...

I gotta say for me it has to be Andrea. Andrea was an all around badass who never ran from a fight. Instead she always ran toward it. She was a great match for Rick in the apocalypse. When it was her time to go she died in the comfort of her own home surrounded by everyone she knew and loved. Everyone was saying thank you for all she did. A couple years went by in the comics so i imagine she did quite a bit during her time alive.

Idea for a reboot: two and a half men

Basically the show is terrible now, but the ideas of zombies is still good. So shut down TWD, fire Gim, and reboot the series as Two and a half men. Its about two men, one hard working straight laced, the other a coked out charlie sheen, with the top half of a zombie as their side kick. They get into comical situations, maybe learn a little about life and love, and fight the undead hordes together.

GoT is the rare kind of show where watching the later seasons makes rewatching the earlier seasons even BETTER. For example, going back to season 1 & watching those conversations between Robert & Ned, analyzing Ned’s face/ reactions to said conversations is fantastic.

Favorite Episode of all-time?

For me it’s a 3-Way tie between No Sanctuary, Clear & The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.

No Sanctuary was so great because of how smug and confident Rick was that he’d get free and kill Gareth. “Oh and a red machete....That’s what I’m gonna use to kill YEW” I loved that. The entire group was so badass, and Carol was able to redeem herself by blowing Terminus to pieces. I loved every minute of that episode.

Clear was so great because it showed the negative psychological effects that the apocalypse could have on people. It felt so realistic. “You’re just wearing dead peoples faces”. “Your boy dead?” “No” “Well he will be, you see because the people like you, the good people they always die. The bad people too... but the weak, like me, we have inherited the earth” “I see RED and I do it” Lennie James is a hell of an actor I wish they’d give him more to do than just flip flopping between “all life is precious” to “you know what it is”.

The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be is also a favorite because of the sheer brutality. Glenn saying “Maggie....I wi...ll fin...d you” & Abraham saying “Suck...my...nuts” was so true to their characters. I liked that. The title itself is a callback to Jenner saying that to Rick when they left the CDC. I don’t care how much people hate that episode. It was sooooooo good.

I don’t understand the Season 7 hate

I just don’t understand the season 7 hate. I actually enjoyed it. Definitely wasn’t the best season, but it wasn’t the worst either. I thought the 7th season opener was so great. They messed up a tad with the deaths, should’ve killed Abe in the season 6 finale and then Glenn in the opener. It would’ve been so much crazier in my opinion. But that scene still gives me chills. I loved every minute of it. I just don’t see why season 7 gets such a bad rep. It had some really good episodes and seeing our heroes in that powerless position was new, I liked the struggle that Rick & co. faced.

About Dave Erickson....

Ive been a hardcore fan of the show since season 1 episode 1. Stuck through it good times and bad. Season 3 was great under Erickson. But am i the only one who notices this sub completely glorifies him while forgetting the first two seasons under him were universally hated?

Im in the minority which enjoys season 4. Yes, personally i wish erickson had stayed on to finish his story as he was was really coming into his own...but can you really blame AMC for firing him? The first two season were universally hated and ratings fell from 10 million viewers an episode to around 2 million an episode. Even during the acclaimed season 3 ratings fell dramatically each episode.

AMC doesnt want this show to be a failure. But its hard to justify giving Erickson new seasons if under his guidance the show is constantly losing viewers. Furthermore i would go as far as to say if this season still had Erickson as showrunner and played out the exact same way as it has under new management ya'll would be praising it.

I personally am annoyed and fed up with the major time skip, but for what we've got the new season is still better than season 1 and 2. And also still better than the past few walking dead seasons. And funny enough Season 4 has been better critically acclaimed than season 3. Look at the show to show reviews and most critics tend to like Season 4 better than season 3.

This isnt me hating on Erickson. Personally i like the guy and wish he had stayed on. I just personally am a bit confused on how Season 3 has completely made everyone here forget how bad the first two seasons were....where everyone on this subreddit was calling for Erickson to be removed. Funny how things change i suppose

[Spoilers] The dragonpit summit

At the season 7 finale meeting at the Dragonpit, many of the principal players meet face to face. Most of them had previously done grievous harm to one another. Let’s start with the kings and queens. Queen Danaerys’ father was killed by Jaime Lannister, now the General of Queen Cersei’s forces. Cersei’s father was killed by Tyrion, hand to Queen Danaerys. King/warden Snow’s Stark family was killed by the Lannisters. His grandfather and uncle were killed by the mad king Aerys. The Hound and the Mountain are mortal enemies. Brienne ‘s liege lord Renly was killed by machination of Stannis in which Seaworth played a part. Everyone else that she had sworn to serve (Catelyn, Sansa, Arya) had been harmed by Cersei. Cersei had attempted to kill Tyrion many times. Jon Snow and his sisters had destroyed Cersei’s allies , the Boltons and the Freys. Mormont’s life was forfeit as a slaver in the eyes of the North. Yet they were all at the same place to try for a truce to fight the true enemy. What does it say about all these people that it was only Cersei who didn’t care to bury the hatchet at the end of the summit?

The X-Files, S6E2 (Drive)

This is the Vince-written and co-produced ep in which Vince decided Bryan was The One.

It being 20 years later now, and now on Hulu, I offer some observations.

1) Bryan Cranston nailed it in this episode, from being reasonable to desperate. 2) The oft-noted anti-Jewish sentiment that Cranston's character is supposedly centered around was gratuitous 20 years ago. There were two throwaway lines that had nothing to do from to Cranston's overall character and the overall plot to insert an SJW message. The approved message has changed over the years, but still, it's gratuitous to insert it, whatever it is. 3) Vince hired the actor who oscillated from Walter S1 to S5 in 43 minutes, and did not wreck BB by adding social "educational awareness" that is endemic with Hollywood writers now.

Whatever a showrunner's view is not why people watch, let alone why they are discussing a show five years gone. It's that it was good TV, good entertainment regardless of one's political view.

Inserting your own, regardless of whether one agrees, is not why most people watch TV. I'm glad Vince recognized this,

zzzzzz a potential good show and cross over ruined, no surprise there.

nick, troy, john, madison, strand, alicia, althea. you have the perfect cast to potentially help the walking dead squad or go against them. Its just sucha damn shame the writers went in such a weird direction, killing off troy then nick and now possibly john, i seriously just want to stop watching. Troy and nick made such a great duo and i was excited to see troy change kinda like daryl did in the walking dead, i get that it made sense killing troy off since nick would be killed off aswell, troy cant exist without nick it just wouldnt make sense. I hate Naomi's character, they didnt have to show her trying to leave 4 times we got the point the writers were trying to make the second time she tried to leave with all the supplies. It would be dope if the remaining people currently in the show could help out the walking dead squad against the whisperers. Im not mad..... im just disappointed.

The show is missing exploration

EXPLORATION!!! What will the big cities look like after many years of zombies ruling the world? Sure there must be some big interesting buildings where it is possible to settle? Big hospital where some genius guys make zombie experiments to try to stop it? The hell - find or build a ship! You are safe in the water eating fishes and maybe finding a sweet island! All those things, yes please!! But no.. the show has been for far too long about different groups of farmers killing each other in the same locations.

That is why I'm done. Just wanted to share how the show would me so much fun for me.

[S8 SHOW SPOILERS]Who Will X Be Talking To In The Cell In S9? If you're not caught up, DON'T SPOILERS OPEN INSIDE

Who Will Negan Be Talking To In His Cell?

It’s not going to be Carl, the time skip doesn’t look long enough for it to be Judith, and no one gives two shits about seeing more of Henry except Ezekiel. Negan’s stuck in the cell, so any screen time JDM gets is going to be him talking to someone there or a flashback, and he needs to have a reason to be honest about his past. (If someone just shows up with Deanna’s camera and asks him for his story I’m going to riot!) The comic book storyline is blown out, so who do you guys think it should be and why?

At first I thought it might be Rick, because Negan’s only weapon to protect himself is his ability to get into someone’s head. He knows Rick lost Lori after the outbreak, so I thought he might try to manipulate Rick by talking about losing Lucille, we’d get his backstory, and that would lead to Negan eventually coming to terms with it.

Now I’m kind of hoping it will be Carol. She wasn’t at the RV or in Alexandria, so he doesn’t know anything about her, and he might try to play on her sympathy. At the prison she made comments about men like Merle and Ed being able to get inside someone’s head and make them feel like they deserve their abuse, and she's not above screwing with people herself (RIP Sam, how was that casserole, Pete?). I think the two of them could have an interesting dynamic: the abused wife who isn’t afraid of men anymore and had no qualms about killing sick people to save others vs the cheating husband coming to terms with the loss of his wife and the bat he named after her. Since he's going to have to get over that for his character to move forward, who better to get it out of him than a wife whose husband treated her badly?

And I really want to see her reaction when Negan hits on her, because I’m pretty sure he will.

If you haven't watched TrollHunters yet, you're missing out.

For ages I skipped over TrollHunters on Netflix. It looked childish and the style seemed to rip off How to Train Your Dragon's aesthetic. One day I took the leap to watch the first episode and I was hooked from start to finish.

Make no mistake, this is a children's show. In the same way Avatar is a children's show. The themes explored are vast and almost unrivalled in the genre of children's animation. The voice acting is incredible and the animation is breathtaking.

Guillermo del Toro envisioned this, and you can tell. Some of the troll designs are horrifying (like Angor Rot or Gunmar), and the sense of fantasy mixed with danger is ever-present. There are a few small issues where the plot of the less important episodes falls into a routine, but these are almost unnoticeable.

Do yourself a favour, and watch TrollHunters.

I think the title "Lantern" was intended to provoke fan theories about Chuck's fate

Vince and Peter mentioned that the "FRING'S BACK" anagram in Season 2's titles was something they hadn't expected fans to pick up on as quick as they did. Knowing this, they may have picked the title "Lantern" as a way of suggesting Chuck may die without outright stating he would.

That way, throughout the episode, the viewer has the expectation he may die at the end, which allows the season finale to serve as a great sendoff for the character of Chuck (Howard buying him out, the applause scene, his final parting blow to Jimmy). When the house catches fire, it's not surprising, but rather seems sadly inevitable (as Chuck's character arc had been completed).

Semi-spoiling the ending in the title was a gamble, but the episode was executed so well that I think it was utilized perfectly.

EDIT: I also interpreted the cold open as strongly implying his death.

Favorite Show that eventually "lost the plot"?

What is your show that you loved but just fell apart eventually?

I assume there will be tons of 'LOST' nominations. But I don't actually think LOST fell apart as much as most people so I wouldn't say that one.

'Heroes' is what inspired this question. I was rewatching the first couple episodes and it was so good. I am deciding how much to rewatch before it just falls apart…

Picnic at Hanging Rock : I am actually liking it, what do you think?

I was a fan of the movie to begin with. It was a beautiful, dreamy, just odd movie. I had no idea they were making a mini series, and to top it off Lily is in it (I knew I recognized her from somewhere, MENTAL!) and Natalie Dormer, obviously. So the cast drew me in, and I was curious. I thought I was going to be annoyed by it, because it's totally different from the movie. It doesn't really feel like the movie at all. But I strangely like it a lot. I find the characters interesting, but why is no one talking about it? I'd like to know how others feel about it.

It's not the greatest out there, but it's still pretty good. I'm hoping this will get people to watch the movie, though. I know I'm going to go find it right now and watch it again! lol

A couple of questions on Trainspotting in S5E5

Lydia told the gang she can give the info on which car of the train will contain methylemene only 6 hours before the heist. But the trio of Walter, Jesse and Mike had already marked the place for their operation on a 1000 feet stretch along the length of the train. How were they so precise before getting that info from Lydia? What if the car was not towards the end, rather towards the centre or front part of the train, did they account for the time luquids will take to flow through the hoses if the car was farther away from the ditch/ underground tanks? And another issue is of the sound of the generator. I get that train engineers couldn't have heard the sound of Todd and Jessse working on the screws from 900 feet away, but was train engine's sound enough to supress the generator's sound from reaching their ears?

Just watching season 3.

I jumped ship after season 2. Found the character just stale (travis' son specifically). After hearing good things about season 3 I decided to give it a go.

What happened? Did the writers from The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking dear switch places? Season 3 is so much better than the last few season of TWD.

[SPOILERS] Interesting Similarity Between Ned and Jaime

in AGOT and S1, when Jaime confronts Ned Stark beside Littlefinger's brothel, the encounter seems similar to the one Ned Stark faced at the ToJ with Ser Arther Dayne.

in S1, when Ned Stark is attacked from the back, Jaime could have killed him but he didn't. The disgraced knight displayed a moment of grace.

but in S6, when Ned confronts Ser Arthur Dayne, and he gets stabbed by Howland Reed, Ned seizes the opportunity to kill him. Ned, the honorable man, killed him unfairly.

In both cases, Jaime and Ned, had a sibling in peril. Both fought a greater man than himself. And they both did something that oppose their nature.

In BCS Gus used a tracker on Mike. I just noticed on the episode "Green Light ", Victor pulls up to Walt at the red light and throws a bag at Walt and tells him it's 'your half'. So Gus was probably tracking Walt at least, probably the whole time!

Binged both seasons on Netflix yesterday.

Wow, just wow. You know that episode "Ozymandias" from Breaking Bad? The entire series is like this. No bullshit forced drama, no bullshit filler you see everywhere in mainstream US shows and movies nowadays - just pure plot.

I like that it doesn't pick sides for either Israel or Palestina, you get to see the ugly side from both. Highly recommend it.

What is a show in which the writers admitted that they never had a general outline or overall storyline but were instead simply making up each season or episodes as the show went along?

For example, it has been widely reported that Carnival was originally intended to last for six seasons but it was canceled after just two seasons.

12 Monkeys which air on SYFY is finishing its final season which is exactly what the writers wanted for they had envisioned the show as 4 seasons long arc.

In Supernatural, Eric Krikpe started out with a 3 seasons storyline while in pre-production but extend to 5 seasons in order to fully tell his story.

However, what are examples of shows in which the writers later admitted that they never had a true endgame or even a sense of how a particular season would go?

After what’s left of the group defeats the vulture and is hopefully reunited with Madison, they all sit down and agree to share their story properly with the camera lady. Season 4B and any new seasons from then on will be a recount from the group of everything from the dam explosion up till that point (HIMYM style)

Edit: just wishful thinking as I know it won’t happen

Cabin and River in Episode 4, "Laura"

I adore the cabin in episode 4, "Laura", and would love to find out more about it. Does anyone know what river runs by it or the filming location? Ideas as to how to contact the right production company for more info?

I wonder if it was constructed for the show's set, or if the production company contracted with the owner to film there? It seems too detailed to just be part of a set. On the other hand, it seems that a real cabin would be too tight to fit in the camera and lighting equipment. If it's a set and not a real cabin, my estimation of the skill and technical expertise involved in the filming of this show has just shot up. I guess I am usually lost in the story, and don't think much about the myriad details that go into filming a show like this to make it all seem real.

I know it's a long shot to get any info, but what the hell.

Thanks!

The Walking Dead

I wanted to share this little story I have with the walking dead and my mom. So my mom doesn't speak or understand much English only Vietnamese and never had any interest in what my siblings and I watched because of that. So my relationship with my mom was pretty boring as we had nothing to connect on or talk about other than "Is there any food at home?" stuff like that. Until one day I was in the living room by myself re-watching TWD and my mom came in. Now keep in mind my parents are typical asian parents, they don't like anything scary or violent, they'd rather listen to karaoke videos or videos on street food. I even tried avoiding letting my parents see me watch TWD because I was sure they wouldn't like it. Then one day my mom walked in on a scene where a walker was getting killed by Glenn and she asked what I was watching in a slightly disgusted face, I ended up explaining the concepts of zombies, to which she was interested enough to watch the first episode with me. From there on my mom and I binged watched TWD season 1-5 in 2 months and watched the rest of the new seasons weekly, which I translated the whole thing in Viet for her which isn't that hard as we all know how simple the walking dead dialogue is. Nowadays we talk about something other than typical parent-son shit and actually have gotten closer because of it. I tried get my dad to watch it but he pussied out because of the violence.

Do you think AMC will fire the new showrunners after this season?

Erickson is working on another project for AMC, but do you think they’ll ask him to come back after this season? Or new showrunner? Seems like since the ratings didn’t climb significantly that they’d be pretty upset throwing away the storylines like the Proctors, which seemed to be badass.

Carol was all emotional, not wanting to kill anyone anymore, it was never clear to me why she suddenly changed from warriorwoman to ...that. While morgan straight up refused to kill anything other than zombies, because "everybody can change" or something like that.

Now the part I dont remember is, why or how did they change their mindset? What made them click to become what they needed to be again?

(I know I could google it, but I'm afraid of seeing spoilers of season 8 during my search)

What I hate about the show

Let me start by saying I really like the drama and the action writing in the show. What I really hate is the premise for it. I never really bought it. Why did Walter leave Grey Matter for a high school teacher job? And why was he then pissed that he was earning less? I mean what did he expect? If he was such a genius (contributions to the Nobel), why couldn't he find a better company/research position? Why did he not take Elliot's offer, even though it is the most surefire way of securing his family's future, as opposed to "breaking bad" which is highly likely to end badly (given how he had to kill two people by then)? The whole excuse of him wanting to be the provider of his family is nonsense because if he gets caught then his family gets nothing and has to depend on someone else while he rots in jail.

I think the show is much better when it gets to the point where Walter accepts that he wants to do this and then the show entirely focuses on the drama. But the part which tries to explain why he got into it is just very forced.

Without doubt Jaqen H'ghar is the one of the most mysterious character in GOT universe. There are many theories about him from why did he get captured to He is Syrio or Rheagar or Many faced god himself. There is also theory that he is allies with Night King. In the book for sure he has to play some huge role. Is he some kind of God figure? Bran did know about Arya's list. So he must has seen Jaqen helping Arya. Did Bran ever wonder why is Jaqen helping Arya? So is it possible that he tried look into Jaqen's past? Is it possible to look into past of Jaqen ? I don't think that would be easy though.

The scene is 28 seconds in to the episode, Jimmy is handing out mail, Jimmy says "Got a package, Dan" and in the background you can hear someone say "That's Bruce", You can also see Bruce smile as he probably knows

I thought that I should post this again, since last time everybody shit on my for saying it, but Im interested in what you all think of it now.

The new writers are taking the show in a completely new direction, and so far its been super boring. Ive hated season 4 so far. Im fine with Nick dying, it isnt the first time a main character has died. Its the way they killed Nick. He got shot directly in the heart by some little girl we have only known for 2 episodes. If Frank really wanted to leave the show, they shouldve killed him at the dam. (this brings me into my next point). They still havent told us what happened at the dam (Update, they did it in terrible exposition!) and they keep doing this stupid flash back stuff. Season 3 left us on a major cliff hanger and the new writers are just pretending like it didnt happen. Season 4 shouldve opened up at the dam, not with there boring new characters. I liked John a little bit, but the Althea is booooooring. The writers are forcing their storylines in and I dont care. Who cares about "the bog" like really? The new writers are gonna give this character a story ark even though weve known her for 3 episodes? One of the reasons why I hate the new characters is because we had a huge cast of characters in season 3, and we havent seen any of them! Here is the list of really interesting characters that are just gone now:Daniel, Crazy Dog, Troy, Walker, John (the real John, not the stupid cowboy John), and Diana. The vultures are alright, but I dont care. In the end of season 3 the new bad guys were introduced (the proctors) and now they just dont exist. Every character in season 4 has changed, which is fine, but the new writers arent telling us why. Why is Madison a good guy? Why isnt Nick a drug addict? Why isnt Strand being a conman? Why is Luciana speaking English and talking about her past? Why did they leave the trading post? The biggest turning point for me is Troy. Troy was my favorite character, and the old showrunner planed on keeping him alive! Thats right, so many peoples favorite character should be on the new show, but he is not. You know why? Because the new writers wanted a "clean slate" for their terrible boring new characters. And the final huge issue, we havent seen Madison in the present. I dont understand what the new writers were thinking, but they must be insane. Thanks for reading!

Working Theory after S4E6

Charlie is Naomi’s daughter theory: I haven’t verified the fact that Naomi and Charlie haven’t been on screen together (I refuse to go deeper into YouTube comments), so correct me if I’m wrong:

  1. Naomi and Charlie weren’t on screen together (I know they were “at the stadium at the same time”, but without them being on screen together, it could be explained that they never crossed paths)

  2. Naomi couldn’t have known definitively it was her daughter Rose that infected the FEMA building. (We didn’t see definitive proof of “Rose’s” demise. Also, Naomi could have returned to the FEMA building, seen all the undead, checked on her daughter’s hiding place and seen it empty, and surmised that her daughter was the cause of the outbreak in the building.)

  3. The Vultures are pussies, but maybe they saved Rose before she died. Their antics are theatric in nature. They haven’t been shown to be aggressors. They are showmen, at best. They may have showed up at the FEMA sight ready to wait them out, but ended up saving Rose.

  4. We don’t know what led to the fall of the stadium. The Vultures left after the search party returned with goods. Nick said “we never should have gone on that run.” Maybe the problem was that they returned with stuff, the Vultures left, and they suddenly were victim to the next attack. If it happened quick enough after the Vultures left, and the 3rd party was watching the Vultures watch the Diamond, it would have looked like an attack from by the Vultures to the Diamondfolk.

  5. Naomi was in the second vehicle coming back from the run. The Vultures drove off after Mel signaled them to. Naomi was in Strand’s ride, which would have driven between the bus that Charlie was often on, and the El Camino, which she also rode in later. Naomi could have seen Charlie (Rose) and acted in whatever (runny) way she saw most for to reunite with her daughter.

If all this is true, it would explain:

A) The Vultures not firing a gun B) Naomi siding with the Vultures. C) Mel’s brother not being more aggressive towards Nick when confronted D) Mel not firing on Alycia E) Madison’s current absence from the plot. She could be the one to bridge the gap between the two groups, since she may know the truth about the Vultures. F) This all resulting in the main characters being united with compelling new characters (Mel and crew) against a new evil for the second half of the season.

[SPOILERS] The Prince That Was Promised

I laid out a theory a while back that still hasn’t gotten traction, but here it goes again— it’s become canon in my head, and I think it’s the best interpretation:

The Prince That Was Promised...was promised to the Night.

There isn’t really a good reason mankind should win this war. They’ve talked about it the whole time about how futile it actually is. So...mankind doesn’t win. Instead, the Night King, on the verge of annihilating the world of the living comes to the surviving heroes and demands his prize: The Prince That Was Promised, a child of royal blood—the true heir to the throne, the prince born to Daenerys Targaryen and Jon— to be the new Night’s King with the passing of the last.

Dany will have become pregnant in the new season, seemingly defeating the prophecy of Mirri Maz Duur. But the witch will have been proven true in the end. As the Night’s army surrounds the survivors, the Night King will point to Dany’s belly and Jon will (with tremendous gnashing of teeth and brooding), plunge his sword into his true love to pull out mankind’s salvation— the royal baby sacrifice that will Bring Light back to the world, just like when Azor Ahai killed Nissa Nissa to save the world before (and hence never bearing a living child). Because who says ancient stories cannot be allegories? Do we really believe old Azor Ahai killed all the Night’s Army with one awesome sword and saved mankind? Then...why is there still a Night’s King? Because the army was never defeated by Azor Ahai, just turned back once they got what they came for.

It would tie in a lot of the themes of the story— Sacrifice and Duty for the greater good as a sign of true leadership, the power of royal blood, the bittersweetness of the whole world, the breaking of the wheel (no more heirs to the throne), mothers dying at childbirth, Night and Light, Death and Life being sides of the same coins, and of course, the importance of PROMISES.

So, did I ruin the ending for you, or can you change my mind?

Those of you enjoying season 4, what are your thoughts on the writing of Morgan's character?

So, this sub is currently experiencing a civil war. It's split down the middle between those enjoying season 4 and those who wish Erickson was still in charge and miss the old show. I'm admittedly apart of the latter group. I don't hate the new season but I think it's a considerable drop in quality. With that being said, although I don't hate the show entirely, I do hate a few specific things about this season.

I personally think that Morgan, although portrayed by a talented actor, is one of the most terribly written characters I've seen on any show that takes itself seriously. Since his reintroduction into the show 4ish years ago he's only existed at two extremes of either unrealistic passivity in the face of danger or unrealisticly violent to the point of being psychotic. That's all the writers have done with him and I hate it. Even the actor requested upon joining Fear that his character be given a new direction. It's ridiculous. It seems that the new fear showrunners have chosen to continue this terrible terrible writing for some reason, and I almost can't take it.

My question is, does anyone find this constant predictable back and forth captivating? I can't see how anyone in their right mind could enjoy this character. They desperately need to find something new to do with him. I personally can't stand the writing and i'm shocked that professional writers can't do better. His addition to fear has, and will continue to greatly harm the quality of the writing if the writers don't do something new with him.

Does anyone enjoy this writing with Morgan? If so, what do you like about it?

Theory:The Vultures are Wimps and not Responsible for the Stadium

Possible Spoilers ahead if you havent seen the released minutes from episode 7

Keep reading at your own risk:

So from what we see in the shootout Mel panics and retreats the second it looks like the vultures will be in for a tough firefight. He also commands everyone to retreat explaining how "i thought we could take them but i was wrong".

If the vultures were responsible for taking down a highly armed stadium, at the time having less people and firepower then they currently have, then this doesn't make any sense. So while this could be poor writing i personally think we're being falsely led to believe that vultures took down the stadium. When in reality it wasnt them.

Everything we've seen from the vultures so far has shown them to be pacifistic antagonists. Sure they wait around for groups to die to take their stuff. But Mel mentions how he knows the stadium is full of good people and that he doesn't want to attack them. He also seems to truly express remorse to Alicia when he mentions how he is sorry for Nicks death.

This also falls in line with how Ennis didnt attack Nick when he saw him again and just mocked Nick asking him to "be smart and walk away". Ennis didnt attack Nick. And if Ennis had helped destroy the stadium he would've likely known Nick was going to attempt to kill him for revenge.

Nothing about the Vultures adds up to them being "hardcore bandits who attacked the stadium, killed everyone their and then ran off". Every time we have seen them they have been passive and tried not to instigate fights. Sure they act very passive aggressive and make threatening remarks, but they haven't done anything to suggest that they are killers in any capacity. Once again at the first sign of a tough firefight in next weeks episode...they panic and retreat.

I personally believe the current group of Fear survivors for whatever reason leave the stadium, maybe to go out on a supply run or something. While gone another group (maybe even Proctors, not likely but we can wish) find the stadium and obliterate it before leaving.

The Fear group returns to find the stadium annihilated with little to no signs of whose responsible. Knowing how the vultures were harassing the stadium for several weeks they naturally believe they are responsible and thus set out for revenge...not knowing the vultures didnt have anything to do with it's collapse.

This makes sense as the vultures seem pretty weak, passive, and not eager to fight. They're all bark and no bite, which is why it doesnt make sense for them to have destroyed the stadium.

Either that or maybe it's just bad writing and after destroying the stadium the vultures retreat in a 20 vs 3 gunfight.

Anyhow thats just my two cents for whoever is intrested

My brother watched all seasons of Fear the Walking dead for the first time. When he got to season 4, he asked me if he missed a season, because nothing made sense he said.

He said that he was sure that he missed a season. I asked him what was the last episode he saw, and he said;

'The Dam exploded, then afterwards nothing made sense. How did Nick get his Hispanic girlfriend back? They must have showed that right?'

I told him that Morgan's actor liked Fear better than the Walking Dead and because of that he wanted to change shows.
So basically they made Fear into the Walking Dead 2.0 starring Morgan. And that the Fear we knew for 3 seasons is literally dead now.

He got pretty disappointed when I told him this, and then followed with

'They should have killed off Morgan when he said that he preferred Fear over TWD, and that his death would have made more sense than Carl's.'

Just how different is the plot from the comics to the tv show?

Hi all! Don't want any spoilers from the comics just wanted a discussion. I haven't read a single comic but from what I can tell, the tv show pretty much follows the same story from the comics. I have a (douchebag) friend that sometimes ventures into the comic story just to spoil the story for the show to all my other friends and was wondering (without spoiling if you can) how much does the two differ in terms of events? (characters dying and such) And is anyone else slightly annoyed they both link for similar reasons? For example I can just look into the comics to see how it all ends out for all the characters just to relay it all back as spoilers for anyone watching the show. Not sure how much so far has been the same but for the small amounts I have heard about the big events it has been. Hopefully it doesn't continue this way. Thanks for reading!

A woman was upset by racist doll at NC bank. Turns out it's a 'Walking Dead' figurine.

[SPOILERS] An interesting S3 Scene illustrates the false dichotomy between Robb/Tywin.

For the first 3 seasons Robb and Tywin are somewhat presented as opposites.
Robb is young, pure and just, spares the innocent, and his bannerman follow him out of respect.
Tywin is old, brutal, and harsh, many of his bannerman follow him out of fear.
But what led Tywin to become this way? Why is Robb not this way. [This](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1uEdHna-ys) scene I believe illustrates Robb's first steps to **becoming Tywin**. The karstarks killed children yes, but more importantly *they disobeyed Robb's order*. The one who begs for mercy? **"Hang him last so he can watch" Robb says.** This is brutality that Tywin would nod and raise his cup to. Listen to the anger in Robb's voice and the rage in his eyes. Some of this is surely out of love for the dead, but this guy is angry at those who disobeyed him. How long until the stab him in his sleep?

Tywin is the way he is because in the harsh scarcity world of Ice and Fire, Brutal is often a synonym of Wise. Tywin has learned this through 35 years of ruling millions of men and women. Tywin has learned that brutality produces results, loyalty is good but when it doesn't work fear is all you have. Robb is only now starting to learn this, and he learned it too late.
I feel this scene illustrates that the primary difference between Tywin and Robb is experience. To quote Tywin himself "He is so young that he doesn't know enough to be afraid". If Robb had another 20 years of commanding millions of men and trying to balance their disdain for each other, he would be remember this moment, be paranoid of it happening again. He would be harsh, and firm, threatening, and stop the karstarks before the idea entered their head by any means necissary. Just like Tywin.
