Daryl and Beth

Were Daryl and Beth...like...romantic, or was it a father daughter thing. The line should be so easy to read, but i honestly can't

[NO SPOILERS] Just started the show and I'm so confused

So I'm currently on season 1 episode 2 and I am extremely confused lol I do not understand all the characters' relationships with one another, who hates whom and why they hate each other, which families are enemies which families are not, etc. There is just soooo much background info that is not explained and if it is I forget it later on and have to go back. Is this normal? Does it get easier as you go on?

Your thoughts (No judgement)

Rick worked better without Michonne

Abraham and Glenn deserved better.

Not interested in Negans redemption arc, he had a great start into the show. I won’t deny that. But he should’ve died in an explosive way and kept him as a villain.

Rosita deserves more credit.

I still can’t take to Magnas group.

Carol was boring in season 7, 8.

More interested in Hershel Jr than Judith an he’s only been in a few episodes

I loved Andrea and Michonnes bond

Noah’s death was too gruesome

I would like to see more interactions with other characters.

I miss Glenn.

Carol and Daryl take a backseat in season 11. Sometimes I feel like they have more airtime than other characters. I know they’re the main.

I love Maggie and Hershel relationship, can’t wait to see more of them.

Rick was badass in season 4 and 5.

Jerry and Ezekiel have a beautiful friendship

Hershel’s death was so sad

Alpha was a great villain but I don’t care for Lydia

Should’ve seen Rosita react to Taras death

That’s my thoughts for now.

[SPOILERS] Could Margaery have taken the Iron Throne?

After Renly's death, Margaery Tyrell famously said: "I want to be THE Queen." Let's assume that she wanted to take the Iron Throne and wanted to be THE Queen. Is that even possible? And if so, what would her path be to the Throne and how do you reckon would she rule over the Seven Kingdoms.

Sorry for that question, it just came across my mind when I was rewatching the show today. For clarification - the question is not really whether she could've held herself there, it is rather whether she'd even be able to get there.

Greetings!

Ed Peletier

Was ed a pedophile? In the episode he dies he tries to make sophia stay in the tent with him and touches her in an unsettling way and both carol and Sophia look extremely uncomfortable. In another episode (201), carol is praying in the church and says something about ed looking at his own daughter a certain way. Thoughts?

Doctor's visit

I recently had to have a minor procedure done in the doctor's office. He was about to cauterize it and I was a little nervous. There was a large window looking out over the grounds, so he told me "Just look at the flowers" thinking it would soothe me, and I started giggling so bad he had to wait until I was done.

Then I had to explain why to him... since he had never watched the show.

Best point to read the novels?

First of all, I'm assuming that the novels by Robert Kirkman and others are linked to the TV show continuity, and not the comics.

If that's correct, what's the best order to read them in? And at what point(s) while watching the show?

Man am i loving this show right now. this is probably the best episode so far, and season six is getting close to reaching the same height as 4. btw, is it sinister for me to be glad that Sam died? he was incredibly annoying. along with that, the way that carl just looked Rick with the gunshot wound and said “Dad...” gave me chills.

Anyways, gonna keep going

Ok can Rick just shoot Negan already Like theyhave like 100 people at sanctuary. Just shoot Negan and Simon right then right there. If your going to kill him anyways just shoot him. Like I am actually so triggered. This Negan crap has been going on long enough. They have the people. They can siege The sanctuary if they needed two there is only a few exits so the saviours would have to file out one by one out the doors. I didn't know Negan was some kind of supervillian with his hours of talking with the superhero. What is this Rick and Negan on a date.

Don't want to sign up for yet another streaming service for one or two shows? Go old-school: check your local library for the DVD.

Of course this doesn't work for brand new content, but a surprising amount of shows are still released on physical media. And with networks like HBO and AMC and Paramount all putting their content on their individual streaming services, a big part of their selling power seems to be in providing access to their existing or past content. I know it's old-fashioned, but I bet most of us still have some sort of DVD player or device that plays DVDs still.

Like most everyone else, I've spent the last year working through a list of shows I'd been meaning to watch or had recommended to me. I had planned on finally watching Hell on Wheels, a show from a few years back on AMC that was on Netflix, but it was removed from Netflix, presumably to add to AMC Plus. I was bummed that my options came down to 1) pay for AMC Plus, or 2) sign up for a free trial, watch what I want really fast, then cancel. Then I realized, duh, libraries still exist. I checked my local one and they have the entire show on DVD. Sure, I have to physically pick it up myself, but it's completely free and I can now watch it on my own schedule and not have to go through another sign-up process. It's one thing to pay for a service that has oodles of new content, but for back catalogue stuff or segments of premium cable channels? I think with the way streaming services keep fragmenting, utilizing your local library may be much simpler and cost-effective than bothering with yet another streaming service.

[SPOILERS] finished season 1

  • these are still my top 5. Daenerys is at the top. Jamie is still there but I haven’t really seen much of him so he’s fading away, Tyrion is probably second now

  • everyone’s dying lmao!!! Daenerys brothers dead (thank god), her husband died and NED STARK. I really thought he’ll survive. I guess this is the kind of show where ‘main’/recurring characters can easily die

  • jeoffery is literally bottom tier, I hope sansa retaliates some how. I know he doesn’t die (at least soon) cause I was seeing people talk about him on Twitter a couple years back but I can still hope

  • sansa isn’t as bad anymore, I feel bad cause her dads dead and she’s stuck w jeoffery

  • I have a feeling Daenerys will get more powerful this season cause she has her dragons

Btw I hope I tagged this correctly, I’m pretty sure I did

Loudermilk on Prime is absolutely amazing, 10/10, hidden gem of the year by far!

It’s episodic dramedy (drama comedy) with Ron Livingston (main guy from the movie office space) he’s a recovering alcoholic and.. Just watch it, each episode is roughly 25 mins, if you need a type of show to compare it to, Think in the same ball park of a Schitt’s creek but in my opinion much much better.

Each character is so well developed and perfectly cast that any of them could have their own spin off standalone show and I would watch every second. Im a big movie/TV snob and this show is absolutely flawless with not one single bad episode. It’s three seasons so far. I am in shock that this show isn’t more well known, deserves to be emmy nominated. Watch it and thank me later.

Blue's Clues featured a very inclusive, kid-friendly queer pride parade segment.

This Blue's Clues short sung by drag star Nina West feels like a pretty big deal. It's got a lot of queer representation from nonbinary bears, to disabled characters, to ACE ARO OMNI mentions (asexual, aromantic, and omnisexual if you're not in the know). I remember just a few years ago a kid came out on Disney Channel and didn't even say the word gay. I personally hope more content like this gets greenlit. It reminds me of I Love My Hair on Sesame Street. This kind of television could be really impactful for a lot of kids (and adults too).

[SPOILERS FOR SEASON 9 ONWARDS] Am I the only person who actually likes this pairing?

Of course I'm talking about..

Father Gabe and Rosita.

People seem to really and I mean REALLY hate this pairing. But oddly, I find it kinda cute and endearing?

These are two characters who never seemed overly close; hell in season 7 I'd argue she even still looks down on him a bit for everything he did in Season 5; however I honestly really like that they're together.

Was it unexpected at first, yes. But I grew to like it. Because like, in real life, not every couple is as conventional as you might expect. Sometimes the people you'd least expect to see together make it work. An even though their relationship was kinda thrusted onto us after the Time Skip; I've honestly loved a lot of their stuff together. All the scenes where they're alone talking are weirdly sweet to me. Especially the stuff in 10x8 and 10x10.

I think Carol has forgiven Negan but kinda hates him and looks down on him. Daryl has also kinda forgiven him, kinda crazy after everything Negan did to him, but i think the reason Daryl has forgiven him is because he blames himself more than Negan for Glenn's death.

PS: I think it's kinda sweet that either Daryl or 'Most likely' Carol had hanged Negan's leather jacket over the chair in his cabin.

What is one death you think was a writing mistake and wish that you could undo?

I think that death would defo be Carl or Glenn.

For Glenn, seeing abe dead was already traumatizing enough for the viewers and he was way too innocent to get what he deserved. I also feel like Glenn should’ve lived to see his son hershel.

For Carl, I think that it was unnecessary and that seeing him die was the worst mistake they could make. It traumatized Rick and also ruined the show for me knowing one of the best characters of the show just lost his son.

[SPOILERS] What if GoT season 8 was good?

I was so confuesd and betrayed after watching GoT season 8. I actually loved watching it, yes there was too much talking but at least its a good show. Season 8 in a nutshell The Night King gets killed by a fourth grader and millions of people tried to kill Night King but NOOOO. It had to be a fcking fourth grader. (I dont hate Arya it just doesnt work) And First episode is just the most boring episode of GoT. Daenarys cloud have just killed Cersei not innocent people and Cersei doesnt give a sht about peasants! And Jon Snow is playing Monopoly by getting get out of jail free card and Bran just sits in his wheel chair and gets to be a f*cking king for that! Heres my version of GoT season 8: Ep 1 and 2 are just too long and empty so they should get deleted. I would make the Long Night pt. 1 and 2 because pt. 1 should have tiny bits of Ep 1 and 2 like preparation and Brienne becoming a knight. Instead of Bran saying to Theon youre a good man he just screams to him crying to run and dont fight him, but Theon wants to protect Bran for what he did. Theon dies. And Arya shouldnt kill Night King Bran just gets killed by Night King. Cleagane dies. They retreat and go to King’s Landing. Cersei thinks they will invade King’s Landing but actually they just go by the walls of the city to let the Night King follow them to kill Cersei. Daenarys does it because it isnt anymore what it was and wanted to create a new King’s Landing. Jon Snow doesnt want people to die but he cant do anything about it. At least Daenarys let Jon to tell the citizens run away but they didnt listen because they have dragons and are scared and trust Cersei. Jon cant do anything about it so he leaves. Arya confronts Cersei but she leaves the killing to the Night King. Jaime goes to see Cersei to get her to leave with her but Cersei stays and Jaime stays too. Night King comes kills everyone and has an fight between Jaime (he dies).Cersei is sitting in the Iron Throne and the Night King slices her head off and takes the Iron Throne. Jon goes to King’s Landing but the wigths arent attacking him, they are just watching him. Jon goes to the Iron Throne room. Jon challenges the Night King to a duel. The Night King accepts. They have an epic duel and it was a distraction to let Daenarys kill the wights with her dragons but wight Viserion tries to kill Rhaegel but Rhaegel lives. Drogon then kills wight Viserion and they burn all the wights. Meanwhile Tywin tries to be helpful to negotiate with a white walker but then white walker tries to kill him but Tywin stabs the White Walker with a dragonglass dagger. When Night King notices something is off he looks outside to see his army is gone. The living march into the city and kill rest of the remaining wights. Everyone march into the throne room. They are about to kill him but Jon says no. He says that a duel must be finished and kills the Night King. Jon lets Daenarys have the Throne and he needed to go to his father’s grave. The wall is destroyed and the wildlings are living near Castle Black. Sansa rules Winterfell, Arya goes to west of westeros. Tywin goes to doing what hes best at. Drinking and knowing things. Jon doesnt know what to do anymore but he goes back where he belongs. Castle Black.

I know my version isnt the best but at least its better than season 8. I hope you liked it. If there is anything i missed send reply.

The most amount of deaths yet..

The Walking Deads most amount of deaths in one episode..

I cannot believe we lost 10 very important characters!

The ones that hit most are.. Tammy, Henry, Tara, and Enid. It was so bad as it went through the faces.. Ahhhh!

This was almost as worse as Negans outrage when he took away our favorite characters Abraham, and Glenn!
This just goes to show that nobody is safe.. Not even Darryl or Carol!

Rory Gilmore is the worst person

I became a Gilmore Girls fan years ago, and recently decided to revisit it. The writing is still sharp, the show is still addictive. But wow, Rory really sucks.

I didn’t like her when I first watched the show and most of that was predicated on her treatment of Dean. But going back, it’s more than just the cheating. She is unbelievably selfish.

While she was dating Dean, Rory started to develop feelings for Jess. That’s ok, people change. But instead of coming clean about her feelings with Dean or ending things she just gets increasingly angry at Dean the more jealous he gets. Despite the fact that he is perfectly justified in his jealousy. This all culminates in her kissing Jess. And years later when Dean is happily married, she then coaxes him into cheating on his wife with her.

Not to mention that while she was in college, she dated a guy called Paul and treated him as an afterthought while devoting all her time and attention to rich boy Logan.

And wow, the show tried to convince us that Logan was a bad influence but really Rory was complicit in all the shit him and his friends did. She stole a yacht and after getting punished for it acted like it was no big deal.

And Lane, poor Lane. Rory’s “best friend” who she almost exclusively uses just to get through her own problems. Of Lane’s hardships Rory is there for her what, one or twice?

But maybe the worst aspect looking back is how she treats her own family, specifically Lorelai. Her mom has basically given her whole adult life to raising Rory and giving her the best opportunities she can, and Rory either pisses those opportunities away or treats her mom like shit for petty reasons.

One of the signatures of the show is Lorelai and Rory’s healing arguments, the fights that are only meant to pull them closer... except for when they don’t, and Rory gets unreasonably angry. Like when she missed Lorelai’s graduation, or literally moving to Europe for the whole summer because Lorelai pointed out that her sleeping with Dean - a married man - was an awful thing to do. And of course Rory’s dream is to become a writer, and she pursues this dream by writing a book... that details Lorelai’s life including all the pain and trauma she wants to forget. Lorelai understandably isn’t okay with this, but Rory writes the book anyway.

And despite Lorelai giving up her rich lifestyle to move away and raise Rory, and despite knowing how much pain her grandparents put her mom through as a teenager, that doesn’t stop her from taking advantage of their love whenever she likes.

So you may think “well at least she’s nice to her grandparents”. Oh sure, when it’s convenient for her. Like her granddad hooking her up with an important interview only for her to lose her shit on him because she feels put on the spot... you’re welcome? Oh and of course Lorelai is the “precious little small-town girl”. She doesn’t fit in with the rich kids at Chilton or with Logan’s friends. Except she totally does, because she uses her affluent families wealth to her benefit as much as any of them.

She treats Lorelai like shit, she treats Dean like shit, she treats Lane like shit, she treats Paul like shit, she uses her grandparents when it benefits her, and when she willingly hooks up with Logan as his side-piece in the revival I’m meant to feel bad for her? Am I?

I don’t know, sometimes it even felt like the Sherman-Palladinos didn’t like her.

Edit: yes I agree with people. Lorelai was a poor role model and should have really tried to be more of a mom than a friend. That being said, I think Rory’s bad actions go beyond her upbringing, and Lorelai for better or worse really tried to do the best she can for her, with her more relaxed style stemming from an overly strict upbringing by her mother which she didn’t want to impose on Rory.

Tbh, I don’t like how Morgan keeps flip flopping between clear mode and all life is precious mode, he was all life is precious for seasons 5, 6 and most of 7 and some of 8 whereas he was mostly clear in 8, than on ftwd, he goes back to all life is precious for seasons 4 and 5 than he goes back to clear mode for season 6 of ftwd AGAIN, seriously, it doesn’t feel like he’s developing as a character, it feels like he’s bipolar at this point, he’s just running around in circles at this rate. What do y’all think?

So one friend wants to understand something more than just "the producers/writers decided to give the series the lethal injection", so what youtube videos you would recommend? My friend has a basic understanding of the factions and some characters of the series so the recommend could even be a short video of 5-15 minutes.

So yeah the recommendations can range from the meta persepctive of D&D being lazy bastards to analysis on the writing and plot inconsistencies and character undevelopment and so.

Jesus

I’m going to say it right now, they did not do Jesus any justice by killing him off like that. I know the reason for him being killed was because the actor was bored with the show and probably wanted to be killed off quick but damn, his death scene was horrible. I mean it was a 2 second thing not some major event. He was a pretty popular character and along with that he was an important member of TWD show. They really were just throwing dirt to his name killing him like that

edit: along with that, after he died it just seems like nobody cared. i mean as they were walking his dead body back to Hilltop they were just having casual conversation about him. Like these people were his friends and they don’t even give a shit

[Spoilers] Season two is underrated

A lot of people say that season two was weak compared to seasons one, three, four, and five. I'd like to make the case that season two has some of the best parts of GoT.

First, some of the best scenes in GoT where between Arya and Tywin. Arya wants to kill Tywin but kind of respects him, and Tywin likes Arya but would hostage her if he found out who she was. Their conversations were the most interesting ones in the entire series. And how good was the actor who played Arya to be able to stand toe to toe with Charles Dance in a scene?

Season two was also peak Tyrion. We were told that Tyrion was smart during season one, but it wasn't until season two that Tyrion truly demonstrated this, particularly when he was hand of the king. This was Tyrion playing the game at his peak and playing it well. In season three he was too scared to do anything and was basically completely disrespected by everyone. Tyrion never accomplished more than he did in season two.

Third, Rob Stark's peak battlefield performance. This was the season when Rob really shined.

Fourth, Renly. We got so little of that character, and most of his scenes were in this season. Granted, he died in one of the few material uses of magic, much to my disappointment.

Fifth, the start of Jon and Ygritte's romance. Sixth, Stannis was still formidable. And finally, baby dragons. Considering all of this, season two was pretty good, perhaps better than season one.

The same old question.

Season 11 now being the last season and all. Will Rick comeback? Because it's not like he had problems with the crew or producers. I know he'll be there in the movie but that was planned before it was decided that the shoa will end. The show is what started everything and where the true family is. Are there any rumours are any news about Andrew Lincoln coming back?

I really would love to have a Walking Dead series set abroad

Whether it's in the UK or China or in some US military base. It'd be nice to get away from the South or East Coast. Could have half the characters be American and the rest from whichever country the series is set in plus other international characters. Just be something different to see how others were dealing with the ZA. Of course, AMC is mega cheap but this is what I would have preferred over that dreadful World Beyond spin-off last year.

When the dreaded dragons fly And ashes writhe against the sky When those who think themselves just are cut by the very steel they sit When the prophesy they told, feared, or dreamed does no longer fit This is when a new world rises beneath the shadow of the old When old nan’s stories are re-written in the shadow of the bold To a new prince A new promise A new light will bring the dawn And with no more shadows, no more embers, no more darkness in our song Ice and fire dances like the dragons did before An end to all our suffering, the last and final war

Season 1 CDC reveal

When Jenner whispers something to Rick which isn’t revealed, do you think it was originally meant to be the whole “everyone is infected” thing? Did Darabont have bigger plans that got scrapped when he left the show? Seems like it would be the case to me, the everyone is infected reveal was pretty anti climactic, especially since in the comics that’s revealed right at the start, the same with ‘fear the walking dead’.

Rick and Shane Friendship

I’m on my first viewing of the show halfway through the second season. I know from spoilers that Shane goes on to be a sort of antagonist. I just wanted to say that so far, despite the relationship with Lori, Shane is a much better friend to Rick than Rick is to him. Shane is constantly supporting Rick despite having different opinions, and at least some of his potential leadership decisions probably would have been better for the group than Rick’s. Not once (so far) has Rick listened to Shane or even compromised with him. Shane also did his best to save Rick, and then took care of his family. He also is shown to be more involved with Carl even after Rick shows up. I can’t help but think that if Rick was a better friend to Shane maybe Shane would not have felt so ostracized and felt pushed away from Rick and the rest of the group.

Did anyone else think this way?

To celebrate the end of Season 46 of Saturday Night Live, I've done a statistical look at the IMDb user ratings for the whole show, and provided some brief analysis.

Saturday Night Live IMDb ratings spreadsheet

I like to do these analyses for long running TV shows like The Simpsons and South Park, so with the end of season 46 I decided to honour Saturday Night Live with my (Not at all) invaluable time.

All of the ratings have been taken from the IMDb user ratings for each episode, and at the bottom an average rating for each season, and an overall average rating for the whole show. Remember, these are just user ratings and nothing to do with viewership figures.

I'd just like to say, it may look overwhelmingly dark/bad, but I'm just using the same colour scale from dark red to blue that I used for the other shows, if anyone would like to improve it with a more unique colour grading, message me and I will send you a link to the google doc for it.

So - the takeaways;

The show started solidly averaging over 7/10 for it's first 4 seasons, before a dip in form for season 5, while the dip in form was attributed to the void left by the departing Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, it was enough to make Lorne Michaels take SNL on a one year hiatus, however the NBC execs had other things in mind, and SNL continued without Lorne for 5 years, the entire cast and all but one writer walked out with Lorne, leading to an all new cast and crew from Season 6. Aside from a strong season 8 led by Eddie Murphy, their best season yet, the upward trend would not continue, and this wasn't a successful swap so after season 10 Lorne was brought back.

This was, as the ratings show, not an instant fix and SNL continued to languish around the 6/10 rating for a good few years, a better than average stretch from season 17-20 followed, thanks to the beloved cast of the early 90's like Carvey, Farley, Hartman, Myers, Nealon, Meadows, Sandler and Spade, before the show stagnated, and had it's statistically worst run of shows for the next decade.

Enter season 32, and what a majority of younger fans consider the best age for 'modern' SNL, Hader, Samberg, Sudeikis and Wiig become repertory players joining the likes of Armisen, Forte, Hammond, Kenan, Rudolph, Meyers and Poehler and SNL has a core cast that will start it's 'comeback' in user ratings, a run of seasons averaging in the high 6/10's to the low 7/10's stretching through to the current day, thanks to strong additions to the cast like Cecily Strong, Kate Mckinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kenan's 856th consecutive season.

The highest rated episode - Season 45 Episode 10 - Eddie Murphy makes his glorious return to studio 8H with the even more glorious Lizzo in tow. Bringing back favourites like Mr Robinson's neighbourhood and Gumby, it's no surprise that one of the most admired SNL cast members of all time pulled in the highest rated episode of all time.

The lowest rated episode - Season 41 Episode 4 - Trump. Obvious. Sia deserved better.

[spoilers] Baelish and Varys S1

Both of them give Ned information that helps him discover the truth about why and how the previous Hand to the King died and what that leads to 💔 Littlefingers motivation comes a lot from Catelyn? But what about Varys? I gather he doesn’t want a war but is he trying to help or hurt Ned? When they were talking about the water-poison, I thought he was trying to protect Ned but surely he’d know that would only make him more determined to discover the truth? I know loyalties shift constantly but Varys’ behaviour towards Ned in S1, well I’m hoping someone more intelligent can shed some light on it!

Continuing with Littlefinger…is it only after the Red Wedding that he turns his attentions to Sansa? His interactions with her aren’t super creepy yet obviously but the actor is great at making everything he does and says creepy so, again, smarter people, please help? 😬

[spoilers] the books

Hi :) I’ve just started my first rewatch and as it always is, I notice different things and have new questions.

My main question is about the battle that led to Robert becoming King. Is that expanded upon in the books at all? Or a companion book?

I haven’t read the books (or any of his work yet) and I don’t want even the smallest of spoilers which is why I’ve come here. If it is expanded upon in a book, could I please have just the title?

I’ve just thought of something else. If there are companion books, is there a list somewhere of which order to read books in? Kinda like tv show crossovers that start a storyline on one show and end it on another, I want them in the right order. Reading any of these books is going to be difficult for me due to health issues so I want to make sure I get it right and I really hope someone here can help me :)

Carrie Coon in The Leftovers is a revelation, and Nora Durst is one of TV’s greatest characters.

Edited to add: There will be no spoilers here.

I’m very late to the party, obviously. Having just finished the series finale, I’m keenly aware of how far behind I am, so please be gentle with me.

This show, man, this show. These characters. The finale.

The finale cements Nora as one of the most memorable characters (in a show full of memorable characters) to ever grace our screens, and I’m kind of in awe of Carrie Coon’s performance throughout the whole series.

This is where I admit I had never seen her in anything prior to this show, or if I did she never made an impression on me. Which kind of makes my experience with The Leftovers that much better. I was able to meet Nora as a stranger, with no prior baggage that a viewer can sometimes bring into the relationship with a character. And she blew me away with her perfectly messy mixture of strength, sass, and utter vulnerability.

I’m not the type of viewer to pore over fan theories and take deep dives into plot developments, but without spoiling anything about the finale, I am a little obsessed with the possibility that Nora was lying. A conversation earlier in the episode leaves it open to interpretation. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter. Because of the indelible performance, I’m satisfied either way, and the same could be said for the show as a whole. The writing and cast was outstanding.

My favorite finale ever has been the infamous cut to black of The Sopranos, but it might have just been replaced by the exquisitely tender finale of The Leftovers, anchored by Coon’s Nora.

Like Iris DeMent sings, just let the mystery be.

[NO SPOILERS] Who REALLY wrote seasons 1-4? Analysis of clues everyone seems to be missing.

I'll say it at the front: I don't thing Dumb and Dumber wrote the first seasons of the show.

I'll present my clues to why I think so, and possibly the answer to the question in the post title.

Let's analyse a couple of Benioff's shows and movies he wrote:

Troy (2004) and X-Men Origins Wolverine. Both suffer from lackluster writing, especially the ladder one. I'm not into X-men, bu it's said to be the worst movie in the franchise, with the writing being the biggest flaw.

Weiss seems to be there just so the blame splits onto 2 people instead of one honestly...

At this point we can assume they are not the best writers.

Then we move to GoT. Why did Martin choose them to write the show? Because they guessed the most popular "secret" of the books - Jon's true parentage. So geniouss... Anyway, they get to work. And they fuck it up again. The pilot is rumored to be utterly terrible. If you want more information, this is a report on what Tamzin Merchant said about the work on the pilot (the actress who was supposed to play Daenerys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2dEidhnJNk ).

So we have another proof that Benioff and Weiss are not good writers (let alone producers, but we're not talking about that here).

Then magically seasons 1-4 after some recastings, reshoots, rewritings, become the best TV series ever put to the screen, with the writing being by far the best component of it.

How could this happen? Did Dumb and Dumber suddenly learn how to screenwrite? But it doesn't end there.

Seasons 5 and 6 were way worse in term of writing, but everything started falling apart in season 7. Season 8 was just disfunctional.

If they needed the books to write good episodes, then why season 5 was way worse? Secondly - how do you gain and lose writing talent so fast and frequently? There the book excuse comes into play very often, but you can not just copy the material and paste it into the script. You need to know how to do it - you need to have talent. Dumb and Dumber went from "chaos is a ladder" to "why do you think I came all this way?". You would think that after 6 years of writing experience on the best show on the planet they would gain some skill, but the absolute opposite actually occured.

My answer to the question:

Martin noticed how untallented Dumb and Dumer were and wrote the show himself. After season 4 he started to distance himself from them, and in season 7 he left them completely. He prooved to be a good writer because he officially wrote 4 episodes: S1E8, S2E9, S3E7, S4E2 - the last one being the red wedding. I can assume Martin really didn't want the credit for one of the best episodes in the series going to Dumb and Dumber.

There also comes the psychological argument. Usually, talented and succesful people tend to have common personality traits. They are intelligent, eloquent. Dumb and Dumber on the other hand were a bunch of buffoons who most of the time didn't know what they were saying. Their after-episode comments gained a lot of publicity in season 8, but prior to that they were also saying idiotic things about the show, nevermind their attidute toward the crew and actors. Benioff said they wanted to kill Selmy even more because his actor wrote them a letter explaining why they should reconsider their decision about killing him so quickly. So childish. Who cares about the story, let's have some fun.

TL;DR : D and D didn't magically gain writing talent for 4 seasons to then lose it again - it was Martin writing everything untill season 5, when it started going downhill. The source material argument is overblown - you need actual talent to adapt a book to the screen.

Tell me what you think, what holes are in my theory or maybe you agree with it.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like ...

TYREESE?!

He is very irritating. I liked him on my first watch but upon rewatch he was annoying.

His speeches were annoying and he was too damn nice. The fact that he didn’t kill Martin nearly got Judith killed and Martin surviving could have led to more deaths.

I liked him after the prison and before Terminus. Other than that I didn’t.

His death episode was honestly horrific and his death was ridiculous. Rule number one of going in houses ,especially when people have been killled, is to check every room. It got him killed because he didn’t check that room where Noah’s brother came out of.

To add to his irritating behaviour he buried Gareth and the termites. They cut off bobs leg and ate it, why are you giving them the privilege of a burial when they ate Bob

[Spoilers] My fan fic for Drogon I made up after rewatching the series

Firstly, I know the shows creators confirmed Drogon flew to Volantis with Dany but I feel completed to disagree with the people who rushed the last few seasons. So I have made up 2 completely unconfirmed theories with little to no proof or potential acceptance by GRRM.

1. A Dragon's Hoard

Losing his brothers and mother broke poor Drogon. So much so that he didn't want to be a part of the human world he was so devestated by. So he took his dead mother and flew to a cave somewhere far away from civilization to live out his years. He only leaves the cave to get food. In the very back of the cave he lay his matriarch, her bones slowly becoming the last thing left of his old life. As centuries pass and civilization expands, a legend about a terrifying dragon and his hoard of gold goes around. Many of adventurers and heroes brave the quest to slay the dragon and claim it's riches; only to meet their demise at the hands of an intense fire. One day, a brave knight takes the quest on and battles the now centuries old dragon, fattened by time, and happens to slay the beast. Broken shield, burnt face, and limping on his leg, our hero walks to the furthest corner to claim his immeasurable treasures. But alas, as if entering the cave his first time, he finds only bones. A single skeleton sits in the back, descrpit and split silver hair barely hangs from it's skull. He laughs as that is the only emotion he could process.

2. Old Friends

Decades into his isolation, Jon Snow has formed a family and started building a village for the free folk beyond the wall. They laughed, drank, and she'd blood together for many years and have never feared the return of the Others. One night, their village is raided. Men with black hearts and sharp blades assault the quiet place. Tormund Giantsbane fights alongside old friend and child's godfather until the black hearted men push them into a corner up against a mountain. With their stamina limit closely approaching, trepidation begins to rise. But as a final stroke was about to takes Jon's head, a deafening screech is heard from the skies above. Drogon! Seconds later dragon's fire pours on the enemy like napalm, turning their black hearts onto grey ash. The tide of battle quickly turns in favor of the free folk and eventually victory comes. Drogon, the last of his kind, has returned to protect the Last Targaryen ™️. Years later legends tell about the man beyond the wall who rides a ferocious dragon.

These are the fun little adventures I like to think. Drogon was by far my favorite stain so I hope something cool happened in his future

(OPINION) S6 dumpster scene changed The Walking Dead

Because for me, that scene was the very first symptom of this sickness to always surprise/shock the fans instead of telling a great storyline.

Don't get me wrong, I still love TWD and I think it had many great moments after Glenn's fake death, but I think that back then around 2014-2015, the show was so much of a success that the people directing TWD became crazy and greedy. Let's keep in mind FearTWD aired the same year of TWD S6. The beginning of it all...

They kept the suspense on Glenn's death for one entire month of episodes, and that scene barely had any impact on the storyline. Nicholas still could've just died and shock Glenn without him falling off the dumpster. Enid still could've find Glenn afterwards and they still could've helped each other. Maggie could've still think Glenn was dead because he wasn't actually in Alexandria.

If you think about it it's not like about the previous shocking moments of the show. I always defended Sophia's death as a way to prove the apocalypse was unfair even to kids. The walkers don't care about your age, they just want food. Same for Lori, I think it helped Rick, Carl & Maggie grow and it had hope in it with Judith. Andrea is an exception of course, her death was pointless and was likely for shock factor but at least it was just her within 5 seasons. Hershel's death was also necessary to change Rick IMO. Even Lizzy was dark but it was necessary for Carol. All of these, except maybe Andrea, made the story moving forward. Glenn's fake death did not.

But it did not stop here. TWD s6 is really the cliffhangers' and weird endings' season. Remember 6x05 in Alexandria ? I remember it ends on a shot of blood coming from a wall. This was never adressed or explained by anyone before or after. What was the point of that shot ? Keep the viewer interested to tune in next week ? Or the ending of 6x08 where Sam yells for his mom in the herd, but then you're back at 6x09 (which is one of my favorites) where that whole scene is kinda... ignored ?

Or the ending of 6x15, where Daryl is shot by Dwight and you don't see if the wound is really bad or not.

Or the ending of 6x16, which is probably the worst. But it worked tho, everyone was talking about TWD back then. And I'm not gonna say that 7x01 scene was too violent etc, it's a brutal show after all. This is special here, because Glenn & Abe deaths were meant to shock the group and the audience anyway. But it is the buildup to it in s6 that bothered me. Although sparing Abraham from his comic fate to have Negan get 2 kills was questionable.

After that, you could clearly see they were extending the storylines, characters and episodes all the time so that they could win more seasons (hello the Saviors' arc who was far too long to me).

And Carl... We all know why his name is here. Same thing. For shock value. But it did not serve a purpose like Glenn and Abraham. Was it worth it killing the main purpose of the story to spare Negan & the Saviors ? Morgan could've get Carl's death, especially since he was gonna leave the main show anyway. And we lost other great characters like Dwight to go on Fear (but I know it had something to do with a behind the scenes situation for this one, I just wish they gave a proper ending for Dwight on TWD). Because they started thinking about worlds colliding but it was -and is- all over the place.

And when Andrew Lincoln announced leaving, they litteraly used Rick's last episodes as a way to tune people in. And although I loved these final episodes, I just wish we did not have all this teasing. That was kinda cheesy.

More recently, Siddiq's death... They ruined what could've been a great character for me and he was litteraly one of the only characters holding Carl's legacy with Rick, Michonne and Enid out. Just for a shocking wanna be spy storyline when everbody saw Dante coming from miles away (except the characters apparentely...). And the worse is that Michonne follows Virgil, a stranger, alone on a remoted island the exact same day when she previously spent 5 years being paranoid because of the Jocelyn incident. You thought the Siddiq scenario would make her be more afraid of Virgil lol... So that is why that storyline was stupid to me and just for shock.

I would've prefered TWD universe to be limited to the main show. What made the mosts of us fall in love with this series was how great the characters were portrayed, not how much their universe was gonna extend on every show everytime. I miss the day when the show could bring shock to us, but not only for the sake of shocking us but also to tell us a great human story.

Jean Smart is an amazing comedian actress

Look, I know she was a great actress in general but boy her comedy timing is impeccable. Currently watching ‘Mare of Eastown’ on HBO and she’s by far my favorite part of the show. She steals every scene she’s in. I’ve seen her in other shows but never in that kind of role. Anyway that is all

From memory I thought of Ned being the main character in Season One, and then Dany, Jon and Robb in Season 2 and 3. Probably somewhere towards the end of Season 3 or start of Season 4 I began thinking of Jon as the lead.

Edit - wrong title.

[NO SPOILERS] A handy guide: You are new to the show and have gotten X far along and you want to know if you should keep watching

This question comes up seemingly every day, (and sometimes multiple times a day) on this sub, so here’s the response for 95%+ of the answers

1) People who have binged it since the show ended - “I liked it, it was great throughout” 2) Show-only people, who watched it live - “it gets bad after S6, though 7 has its moments, 8 is bad” 3) Book-only people “Great through 4 seasons, then” a) bad through 8, b) 5 and 6 are shaky, 7 & 8 are bad 4) Logical people - “keep watching, form your own opinion”

I hope this helps

[Spoiler free] Why "Better Call Saul" has become my favourite show

I'm a weird person in the sense that I don't see comedy shows the same way as many other people. I find myself being disappointed after binge-watching shows that are overly happy all the time because, well, real life is just not like that. That's just the way that I personally think.

In fact, I find myself appreciating my air-conditioned room and cozy bed the most when I watch crime/suspense shows. Needless to say, I loved Breaking Bad. But I could also understand why some people DIDNT like it. After all, there were some pretty dark themes and tones in the show.

In my opinion, Better Call Saul draws the perfect balance between being overly jolly and being overly dark. The show has enough seriousness and suspense to keep you hooked, but enough comedy (credit to Bob Odenkirk's performance) to keep you in a good mood before AND after the show. I would even go so far as to say that it is the most "realistic" show that I have watched. It also focuses heavily on character development and exploring the backgrounds and key moments that set up the scene for Breaking Bad.

Its a great show to watch after a long day of work as it also goes into the struggles of a middle-class man (and woman) in modern society.

The overall vibe is homely and welcoming and is clean enough to watch with the family (if that's your thing). But if you've watched Breaking Bad, I'd say Better Call Saul is pretty much a must. However, if you haven't, the show is still amazing and I'd definitely give it a shot.

She burns the khals alive but gets a pass they're bad

It's only after she does the same shit to the tarlys

The Mare of Easttown is an amazing crime drama with practically no filler and if you're not watching it, you should be.

The acting is PHENOMENAL, every single actor in the show has given their level best and is just brilliant in all aspects.

The character conflicts are actually interesting unlike some CW Drama.

The story is amazing and the show doesn't take time to get into the plot points in basically no time. An event occurs, then it doesn't leave us hanging and gives answers as quickly as possible and it definitely gives twists which aren't expected.

This is all-in-all an amazing murder mystery and an amazing crime drama and there's practically no reason to not watch it.

I'm sad that not many people are talking about this show and they should be.

A or B Theory

I've been looking into various theories that have been suggested for the meaning of A & B. I personally think that A stands for Antidote, these are the people who are recently bitten and are being used by the CRM to try testing antidotes to whatever's causing the walkers. And I think B stands for builder, this is a strong person who is tough and strong that the CRM could use to help rebuild society.

The reason why Rick switches from an A to a B is because of the sacrifice he made when destroying the bridge in what is essentially a suicide mission, in Jadis' eyes this was him redeeming himself and proving he's strong as he is willing to give his life for the sake of others.

The reason I think Jadis is working with the CRM is the helicopter used by the CRM in FTWD is black with their three rings logo, the same can be seen when Jadis is calling in the helicopter to get Rick. The chopper Jadis called also had the letter A on it where as other instances of CRM choppers don't have any letters on, I'm assuming this is due to different transportation requirements for an A and a B.

His growth was not a result of a pituitary gland tumor but rather natural healthy growth. He is able to lift a whole metric tonne and a half. Gregor Clegane's size is very unusual, but still possible, as Angus MacAskill did reach his size. Is this what I think it is?

I started rewatching the show for the first time in a while last week, and I just started season 3. Now, this about when they’re scavenging in the opening scene of the first episode, and when Daryl kills an owl with his crossbow. Now, maybe it’s just speculation, since my class and I just finished Julius Caesar in English, but this really lead me to wonder… was the owl Daryl saw an omen of chaos(“bird of the night hooting in the day”, if I recall correctly) that foreshadowed the group’s crossing of the Governor? OR, more specifically, Merle(someone Daryl is actually connected to) returning, which is what partly to them meeting the Governor. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

[Spoilers] All of the "good" characters got the ending that they would have wanted.

Even the ones that died.

Jon - off to beyond the wall to live in peace for the rest of his days

Arya - off to explore and whatnot

Sansa - Queen in the North

Bran - King Brandon the Broken

Tyrion - Hand of the King. He loved the "game" and as much as he was weary of it all by the end of the show, he'll eventually get over that and be happy again

Bronn - loaded

Sam - maester

Brienne and Podrick - knights

Even the good guys that died got the deaths that they would have wanted.

Jorah - died defending Dany

Theon - died redeeming himself

Jaime - died in the arms of the woman he loved (which he said is how he wanted to go way earlier in the series)

Obviously there are outliers, and probably others I forgot but its an interesting thought

Season 5, Episode One - Perfection!

S5, EP 1

saw a post abt the best first ep of every season and ive been rewatching my fav parts lately, so I went back to s5, ep 1. holy CRAP is it SO GOOD! I’m currently on season 9 ep 4 (but spoiled it all for myself lol) and kinda bored...going back to this episode totally revitalized my affection for the show! Here’s everything I thought made it so awesome:) - carol and Daryl reuniting ... my heart - JUDITH, RICK, AND CARL reuniting, what we all needed - Carol’s overall badassery! wow! - pacing is awesome!! honestly that’s one of the shows biggest flaws in my opinion so the fact that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, even when I knew what was coming, is so cool - Sasha’s and tyreeses reunion - the shot of the whole group walking together, and when tyreese turns around with Judith - when carol stops to pick up daryls crossbow at terminus - CAROLS BADASSERY!!!! - Glenn telling Rick “that’s still who [they] are”

Anything else I missed? Such a great episode...made me cry multiple times! Season five is truly a great season (minus Grady memorial of course LOL)

Anyway...I know everyone loves season 5, but I just had to post...I loved rewatching this episode so much!

Some thoughts on the cast

When I first started watching , I was like “how is this show so popular , and I’ve never heard of any of these actors!” Everyone’s so talented, and yet most of them have TWD as their biggest project. Perhaps that’s because of the scope of the show, esp for ppl like Melissa McBride, Andrew Lincoln, etc ... overall I just wish I could see them all in more popular projects with more popular recognition, it’s deserved!

The biggest breakout star is def Steven Yeun, esp with minari!! I would say he’s the biggest name, maybe next to Norman Reedus

I LOVE it!! I am so happy that there is 7 seasons more!! ❤️

Btw my fav character is Glenn. So far I couldn't like Carol and I have no idea why. She is a good person but I just can't like her. I was even happy when I thought she died. Now, she killed two people in the prison because they were sick and the disease was infectious. I am kind of happy this happined because maybe her character won't continue.

I think this can be unpopular because she is kind of a good person. Is this an unpopular thing? And could you please tell me if we will see more of her character later without any big spoilers?

Good actor/Bad character

Think Laurie Holden and Andrea, or Sarah Wayne Callies and Lori. Is the character annoying to watch/poorly written or did the actors performance get in the way for you? Or both? Or even good characters with bad actors! I’m no acting expert myself, just curious for the discussion :)

Leah is a Reaper

SPOILERS *****SPECULATION

So does anyone else think leah might be a reaper and that was the " dysfunctional family" she was with who she "fought beside them" she said she had been killing alongside her "squad" for years before the apocalypse, and when that came they swore to stick together and continuing to fight.

The more I think about it she was military, Dog is the type of K9 law enforcement and military uses . Which would make sense that she got dog when he was born since his mother was also K9.

The Reapers look like a military group they still have ammunition and grenades a decade after everything happened.

Her "sister" who she was not blood related but was really close to probably was also military.

She met darryl months after (dog was a puppy when he found darryl) she fled when her base was overrun and isolated herself probably to grieve her 'son' and 'sister 'dying and took the puppy with her.

Im Guessing The Reapers probably found her and took her back, or she went back on her own since she took photos with her , and since its confirmed she is going to be in season 11. Im thinking that she becomes an antagonist and dies after redeeming herself.

What do ya'll think?

Negan has to actually show regret to be redeemed

Does anyone else think that Negan has to show some actual regret for his actions (murdering someone's husband in front of them and laughing about it, basically keeping sex slaves, ironing people's faces for not agreeing with him, being an authoritarian leader with zero regards for other people) in order to actually be redeemable for the viewer?

I mean, sure, he's definitely turned into a much better person the last two seasons but I still feel like he doesn't really regret his actions-- it feels more like he just regrets losing everything he had as the leader of the Saviors. The closest thing we've seen is when he threw up at the clearing where he killed Glenn and Abe, but that was due to unclean water from what I remember.

He only shows regret when it has to do with his wife, which IMO is a bit selfish since that is just about his own pain. For Negan to believably be a good person right now, he has to look back on everything he was in S7-8 with disgust. Otherwise, he's still that extremely bad person deep down.

Inconsequential amputation?

Chances are, everyone already knows how that goes in the comic, but anyhow - marking this as a spoiler. :) After Rick lost his hand, it didn't affect his life in the comic at all. He still managed to beat several formidable opponents one-on-one (mostly through luck and/or biting), and the comic never makes any mention whatsoever of any difficulties caused by his missing hand. There was only one time when he said something like "I can't button up my shirts" jokingly but that was it. You'd think it'd be pretty damn hard for him to reload magazines, or clean his weapon, or just do a ton of little everyday things.

The comic never, ever mentions that... Did Kirkman ever address that in any of the letter columns or interviews? In his epilogue at the very end, he mentioned that he was a lot dumber when he was a younger writer (he'd wanted to end the comics at issue 75, with Rick taking over Alexandria and it eventually getting overrun, etc) - is it possible that he chose to go with the amputation purely for shock value, and didn't quite think it through to the end? Hell, if nothing else, that would've made Rick 50% less efficient in hand-to-hand combat with zombies. :-/

I'm not sure if I'm overthinking this or if others had the same thought as well haha

best character development(s) over the seasons?!

who do you think has the best character development so far? IMO, i say Gabriel. seeing him from where/how he started when he was first introduced up until now (i’ve watched up until season 9). he was super religious, afraid of the walkers, and hella grimy, but now it’s like he’s done a complete 360...he’s still soft-spoken and a voice of reason, but he definitely conquered his fears and left the old him behind. it’s also definitely admirable how he still loves and adores Rosita, despite the baby/Saddiq situation. (i haven’t seen season 10, so i’m not sure how this plays out). who has the best character development in your opinion?

Best season finale and premier combo.

This is real close but it goes to A and no sanctuary. They are both amazing episodes and were brilliant when I binged earlier this year
