What do you think about this show? What do you think about this adaptation of Sherlock Holmes character?

Personally, I liked this show, I enjoyed the plot of the cases and solving it, the cast and the acting were good, especially Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, I also liked their chemistry, and I liked that the show remained well to the end without the two main characters becoming a couple which seems like something unique that doesn't happen very often.

Shane’s Wife??

Not sure if this counts as a spoiler since it’s basically the five minutes of the first episode but I marked it as one just in case haha.

So Shane and Rick are talking about Shane’s (girlfriend?? Wife??) not turning off lights in the house, and that’s basically all we hear about her.

Obviously the show wouldn’t have been what it was if Shane didn’t get Lori and Carl to safety, but I always wondered why Rick and Lori never asked him if he tried to go back for his own wife and why she was never shown or mentioned.

It’s kind of strange because Shane was at the hospital when it all started, he made the choice to go get Lori and Carl over his own family, kind of sets the precedent that he wanted what Rick had the whole time, but maybe that’s the point? I’ve watched the entire series three times and this is still bothering me.

Battlestar Galactica (2004) still remains one of, if not, the best sci-fi series I've ever seen.

Recently rewatching it with my twin brother. We finally upgraded to a 4k TV. It's a shame the series was shot digitally and won't see a 4k release. I am a die-hard Star Trek fan but when I saw this, I think it might be better than TNG. So say we all.

David Duchovny in Californication is Such an Amazing Performance

I apologize if this has been said before on r/Television but I've watched this show more times than I can count and along with the supporting cast and the rollercoaster ride of watching Hank Moody's life unfold, deteriorate, and regrow, I felt compelled to make this post just now while watching episode 1 for the 50th time. Highly suggested if anyone reading this has never seen Californication. 10/10.

Also, Rick Springfield's cameo, along with all the cameos, make it feel very similar to Entourage but it's a far more impactful show.

Reposting this because apparently there is a 100 character limit.

After removing most of the seasons from the HBO app to move it to the now failed CNN app, most of No Reservations was left without a streaming home for the past couple years. I was thrilled to find that that the entire show is now back up after annoyingly having to download a new app for Max. This is my ultimate comfort show, so I just wanted to share my excitement that it's back where it belongs.

Was Season 7 really that bad?

Who had the best character development and why?

For me I’d have to go with Michonne… watching her go from a quiet and misunderstood recluse to a generally optimistic sociable main character was awesome. Watching her address her own personal battles and getting to know her backstory was cool. All while never loosing any of her bad assness.

So bran is the 3 eyed raven. Does this mean he knows everything like past present and future? If that’s the case I’m confused. I’m on season 6 episode 6 when Benjen saves him and Meera. Why didn’t bran see him coming. I’m only asking because he saw the white walkers coming, but not Benjen? Then he asked who he was later. If he knows all shouldn’t he know who he is. Tywin Lannister: one of Westeros' most cunning men showed one great human flaw

Basically I was day dreaming about GoT (again) and came to my own conclusion that Tywin Lannister was in such an advantageous position after the Red wedding that he had no reason whatsoever to go out the way he did.

So let me explain my reasoning (I'd love your input if you think I'm not right here): Basically after orchestrating the Red Wedding the North was in complete disarray. They had lost their newly crowned King in the North, there was no Stark male ready to rally the North and Roose Bolton had taken over as warden of the North while fully on Tywin's side.

In my opinion the North was their biggest threat after being able to hold off a direct attack from Stannis.

This is where Tywin, like most men made his biggest mistake according to me. A man of his cunning should have known the value his son could've brought him not only in war but during times of peace. However his disdain towards his son couldn't allow him to see things straight.

This is where the show and the books don't fully align as I'm sure in the books when Tywin instructs Tyrion to go to Kings Landing in his stead to occupy the office of acting Hand of the King we get to see how Tyrion is disgusted by his father even in that instance further highlighting how far apart they truly are.

In the show they make it out to be this kind of unexpected fatherly love moment.

I say that, to ask this: why did Tywin see the benefit of having Tyrion on his side then? Why couldn't he throw him a bone? Maybe not fully agree to him being the heir of Casterly Rock but some sort of compromise?

A loyal Tyrion by Tywin's side would have made them a force I don't see anyone opposing at that time.

His negative bias towards his own son became his downfall in the end. He always favoured Jaime more but surely he would've heard the whispers of the crimes his son was committing by not only sleeping with the Kings wife but at the same time sleeping with his own sister.

That ultimately put the future and dynasty of House Lannister in jeopardy as it is the reason why the Game of Thrones erupted.

Surely that was more of an offence than drinking and whoring?

TL;DR: Tywin Lannister like all men was blinded by bias and should have made plans to keep Tyrion on his side. In doing so I think history would have changed positively for the Lannisters. He also overlooked what would ultimately become House Lannister's downfall by allowing Jaime to have his secret relationship with Cerscei.

What if the lord of light was bringing back beric dondarrion just so he could fight for the smallfolk?

I think it would’ve been a good ended to his story to have him actually be completely useless in the long night, achieve nothing, save no one, but survive. Then realise that the lord of light wasn’t bringing him back to fight the dead, he was bringing him back so he could fight for the smallfolk. So he just goes off to be the Robin Hood of Westeros.

Cersei’s first born. Did she kill him?

Ok so I’m rewatching for the 100th time and I had a thought. S1E1 is about how Jon Arryn died of a “fever” which we know was actually poisoning by lannisters. S1E2 Cersei tells Catlyn her first born with black hair died of fever. Is it possible she poisoned him in the same way knowing it was actually Roberts baby and she wanted her and Jaime’s son to be the next ruler? Also, I’m not a book reader, so I don’t know if this is mentioned anywhere in the book. What do you think?

Would Carl's death been more acceptable in s9 in lieu of Henry who we barely got to know.

I do not think its fair to say Andrew Lincoln left because of Riggs. he left like how anyone makes a decision, not because of just one thing usually but because of a many things that go through our mind such as separation from family (he's british, the hot Georgia Sun, taking a pay cut for each new main cast member so it wasn't as worth it as RIck Grimes movie. This was solved by giving him a NEW tv show with less main cast and lets be honest most of them were just introduced to be sidelined.

s1-s5 was the best with peak at s3-s5 because we didn't have characters we didnt know / care / feel about and the conflict / battles were not overdone. (Ex 8b episode rick vs negan, alone chasing a man with only a bat with a full clip of a magnum, missing every shot... and nothing happened.) This guy can 1 shot walkers heads but cant shoot negan in the leg or ANYTHING????

That said what are your your opinions on Carl's head on a spike to demonstrate Alpha's brutality (replace Carl and Henry storyline) and then moving forward with Judith.

I think it would be have been the way to go because after this there's still Judith to tell Rick's tale (i try and forget s11 having not watched it and saw the finale had nothing to do with the comic one so the show ends with Here's Negan for me.

Then do your spin-offs but don't say that the ending we got was 'the end of the walking dead show' because none of the main characters in the pilot got any satisfying conclusion. Here's Negan is perfect transition to Dead City. Richonne spinoff is great way to say that while Carl is dead, RJ is alive and so is judith and Michonne. Rick has more family than the traditional american today so he's a winner in my books.

Thoughts?

PPPS. we are supposed to care about maggie who leaves hilltop for SEVEN + YEARS. just no. no one even remembers her or how did she find her way back. reapers. lets combine whisperers with hunters and saviors and see what we get.... end the show on a good note kirkman.

Is there a reason season 8 was so poorly written and rushed?

I just finished GOT for the first time and after getting through the last episode I am blown away (more with anger than sadness) about the events of the entire season really. On the one hand, season seven sets us up for a new storyline about Jon’s true ancestry and then it gets completely blown over in season eight and barely talked about. It would’ve been much better to never have mentioned it to begin with if he was never going to be crowned king, or even have to fight for it. On the other hand, since season two, we have knowledge of the white walkers and the army of the dead, and yet the entire storyline comes to a close in one single episode presumably in one night of fighting. Another character arc that makes no sense is Dany’s, she is practically the protagonist the entire time (I mean it was 8 seasons like come on) and in two episodes, the writers completely undo all her good work and make her a brutal murderer and mad queen (much like her father). So for this I find Jon was right in killing her because he foresaw the destruction she would cause just to get to the throne and make everyone bend the knee to her but if his claim to the throne was never going to be mentioned again, then the writers were idiots to make this happen in the first place. Lastly, the most frustrating part of it all, is the writers made Bran to be an unlikeable person (I mean what he did to Hodor/Wylis was uncalled for but also the plot twist of the decade) and therefore fans of the show did not like him by the end, which I feel like was intentional. BUT to then give him the throne at the advice of Tyrion, who knew Jon was a Targaryen was truly maddening.

Does anyone else share in this frustration of the last season of Game of Thrones? The writers made a five star series a three star series because of this season alone.

Also I’m curious to read what everyone else’s alternative ending would’ve been! Here’s mine: After Dany slaughtered the city, Jon met with other council members, and told Dany that they thought she was unfit for the throne because she killed the people she swore to protect and free from Cersei’s reign. Dany then realizes that Jon has no intention of ruling with her and sentences him to die. In front of the city, Dany says dracarys and Drogon attempts to burn Jon but because of his relationship with the dragons (remember other than Dany, Jon was the only other person to ride a dragon) he emerges unburnt as she did in season 1. Tyrion and Bran are then forced to tell the city of Jon’s true ancestry beginning the final fight for the Iron Throne (I imagine Jon would’ve accepted this new role after seeing what Dany was planning to do with the other kingdoms). From here, I wouldn’t care as much who ascended the Iron Throne as long as there was a proper fight between the two last Targaryen’s.

Jaime should’ve died in season 6 episode 2 inside the sept. He’s seen Jofferey and Marcella die and knowing his devotion to family it would’ve made sense. It would’ve prevented Margarey’s trial and Tommen’s death while eliminating the religious threat. The high sparrow gave him an opportunity to kill him and he should’ve taken it; sacrificing his own life.

Just finished my first ever watch of Game of Thrones Season 1-8 spoiler free.

The Red Wedding and Battle of the Bastards are my favourite episodes. Absolutely amazing.

I also really enjoyed The Long Night, and most of season 8. As somebody who just watched the entire series in like 2 weeks, it was phenomenal. Start to finish. I don’t understand the ‘don’t watch season 8’ narrative because season 7 ends at the CLIMAX of the series. The big fight we’ve been waiting for!

Why was Season 8 so heavily critiqued and banished? I don’t really get it.

The Long Night, mountain vs hound, Cersei died, Dragons went ham, Arya was full on bad ass, Dany lost her shit which I thought was pretty obvious in the previous seasons lead up. She had a screw loose.

So why? I’m just curious because I really enjoyed it and I’m afraid of that fact! Lol

Balerion!?

In season one episode two of House of the Dragon, Viserys was said to have been the last person to ride Balerion if I’m not mistaken & also it was said that Balerion was the last dragon to see Valyria at its peak or something to that nature & im just confused on the timing cause wasn’t the fall of Valyia like so long before the time line of House Of Dragons? I could be wrong & mixing things up but in the time line of GOT isn’t it when the mad king was killed the Targaryens ruled Westeros for about 1 thousand years up until the point he was killed? So HOTD being 172 years before GOT & Viserys being the last person to ride Balerion wouldn’t that mean Balerion was like hundreds of years old!?

Crazy Bran theory that I had hoped would be true.

The moment I saw Bran scramble with Hodors brain in the past, I instantly envisioned a scenario where the Mad King and Dany were connected by Brand warging.

Bran connects the Mad Kings mind with Danys mind when she is taking Kings Landing.

It would certainly add a new spin on the Mad King ranting about “Burn them all” at the end of his life. And it would have neatly nipped any complaints about Dany acting out of character. Heck he even had his “Burn them all” flashback in the same episode as the Hodor reveal. So imo, them being related seems plausible.

And its not like it would have been a strange plot point considering it was heavily hinted that Bran or the Three Eyed Raven had orchestrated everything so that Bran would sit on the throne.

They gave him the ability to scramble minds through space/time, so why not actually have it be plot relevant?

Just finished the series

Seasons 7 and 8 seem like fanfic. The weird pacing and random “crossovers” just make for a rushed and botched ending. There was no build-up to Bran being king, no build-up to Dany going full berserker, and everything was just lacklustre. It seems like instead of tying up the loose ends, they just snipped them off wherever they could.

Cersei and Jaime’s deaths were so anticlimactic. After 8 seasons of wishing death on Cersei, and watching Jaime’s whole character arc, killing them in rubble just felt weak. Same with The Hound. He didn’t get his revenge, The Mountain was already a zombie and they both died in the end.

It just felt like 5 seasons of greatness, 1 of goodness, and 2 of mediocrity.

I know I’m like 5 years behind the times, but I needed to rant

So House Glover once again breaks their path to House Stark in the end and doesn’t aid against the Army of the Dead. So did they get taken out by the white walkers? Are they still around hiding in their keep? With Sansa in charge in the north now can she just execute the head of house Glover for being a repeat oath breaker? I think I figured out the Night Kings symbols that never really get explained

If this has been discussed then you can stop reading here.

I believe the symbol represents the symbol of the gods won and creates a magical barrier that the night king can’t cross. I’m on my 4th watch through and only realized now that after the Night King touches Bran during his warg, the 3 eyed raven tells Bran to leave immediately and seems anxious. It seems that the 3 eyed raven knows that the barrier no longer works because of the physical contact that was made. It’s obvious no one else knows because Benjen later leaves Bran and Meera at a gods wood tree thinking that Bran would be safe there. I believe this is why Bran ultimately decided to bunker down at Winterfell. It’s a fortified castle with a gods wood within its walls. Best place to defend yourself against the army of the dead.

Anyone watching Will Trent series?

I am halfway through this marvellous series and strongly recommend it. It's about a special agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who investigates his cases with a clinical eye. He also has to deal with dyslexia and other emotional issues. It's a breath of fresh air in comparison with other series I've seen lately.

A collection of later season takes that nobody wanted to hear.

-Negan alone is the only character who should have a spinoff, not Maggie, Not Daryl, not Rick. And it should be its own thing, not having any ties to the CRM.

-AS a matter of fact, the entire CRM is a lazy story arc, basically just Commonwealth 2.0 but they're working on a cure instead of working on capitalism

-Rick should have been killed off at the end of the bridge arc. It was hilariously ridiculous how they wrote it. "All of a sudden Rick dies, but then he doesn't, and the magical plot helicopter takes him away" obviously I'm oversimplifying it quite a bit, but yeah, we've been waiting years for a continuation of his story when I just don't think it will be worth it in the long run. You could tell they wrote his final episode like that PRAYING that Andy would return to the series.

-Maggie's story should have concluded in the finale, she finally has a safe place with her son, and has sort of made peace with Negan's presence in the community. We don't need more of her, her story is done.

-Lance should have stayed the main villain in season 11C, after Daryl&Carol break him out, he should have separated from Carol permanently in the tunnel, and make his way back to the CW. where he would have some of his still-loyal goons arrest Pamela so he could take over. I would also have him die in the finale. And Pamela would be freed, and then locked up again because...

-Daryl should have also died in the finale. My pitch being, after Lance is taken out they free Pamela and inform her that she's no longer in charge, she pretends to take the news with dignity, only later that night, she breaks into Daryl's apartment and kills him with his own crossbow. In season 5 we see Daryl having the hardest time adjusting to normalcy, and again in season 11 with the CW. Daryl could never truly fit into the CW, it makes for a more impactful finale imo. Obviously they find zombified Daryl and Carol puts him down. And Pam is arrested (Again)

These are just my shit takes that nobody wants to hear, but hear them, you will.

...that as the show goes on, what constitutes "damage to the brain" gets increasingly more dubious? I'm on a rewatch right now in the middle of Season 7, and it's literally like any hit in the general vicinity of the neck and shoulders is enough to permanently put down a walker. I mean, the number of times I've watched Morgan kill a zombie with one hit to the jaw with a wooden stick and the zombie is lights out. Like...what?! Pluto TV needs to learn from Freevee and not show the same ads every ad break.

It's just unacceptable this far into web and streaming content. Pluto will show the same ads over and over, often multiple times in the same ad break. Any advertiser paying them doesn't realize how much the viewer will come to dislike the ad. Freevee has issues but its better and ads shown more often have quiet music. Pluto is operating as if it is 2005. Even ads for Pluto content are limited in variety, or have dialogue that becomes irritating.
