I've been rewatching Eureka and Stargate Atlantis, two of my all time favorite scifi shows, and it kinda made me sad that fun, wholesome scifi just isn't done anymore. It's all grimdark and deeply negative, showing only the terrible that humanity does. I love Westworld and the Expanse, but I'd like to see something positive again. Something that has hope for the future, not just depressing apocalypses and dystopias.
And though it certainly looks fun, The Orville doesn't really seem like the kind of thing that'll scratch that itch.
