Does Troy have villain armour? Are the writers stretching logic to keep him around because he's interesting?

I still don't understand why troy is alive other than he's an interesting character in a sea of bland characters?

I know Troy's brother isn't interesting and that's why he died ( I don't even know his name) but it was stupid the way that scene played out, it made nick look like an idiot, and just made no sense to me at all.

Troy's whole purpose is to kill everyone at the ranch, that's pretty much it at this point. Troy was never redeemable, he has always been a psycho, isn't that obvious? He's a racist? He tells everyone any chance he gets verbally or with his actions that he just wants to kill people, that's what he loves doing. I really don't understand why Nick and Madison are happy to sacrifice other people just so he can go on living. Nick doesn't even seem bothered that he's basically responsible for Troy's brother's death, which he is.

I know people find him a compelling character but can't the show keep him around in a more plausible way?

Having a look through this subreddit I suspect I'm going to be downvoted for sharing this opinion because everyone seems so in love with him they're fine with the weird logic it's taking to keep him on the show.
