While I love this show, I feel like the prison-Governor arc, Hilltop, Kingdom, Sanctuary adaptations are like a lukewarm version of their comic counterparts. I actually liked season 7 a lot, but I still felt like the hilltop was way too small, I couldn’t look past the sanctuary as the prison set, etc. Also so far AOW has been underwhelming IMO. One thing I’ll give them is that they’re developing the Saviors well.
That being said, I think that the show got certain story adaptations better than the comics:
-
Terminus turned a 2-dimensional cannibal plot into an intriguing, mysteriously plot about a sanctuary that either let you join them or would kill you and eat you. The aftermath of them following the group and killing Bob was one of the most high-intensity moments in the show to me.
-
Alexandria to me had a much better introduction in the comics. Even though they changed up some characters (Nicholas, Heath, Holly) I loved season 5 when they were adjusting to life there and you got to see Rick slowly fall back to his old ways. I feel like they fleshed out Aaron well, and he’s one of the most likable characters on the show now.

No Way Out. Even though I thought the Jesse/Sam/Carl shot scene was kind of sloppy on the show, overall the No Way Out story arc on the show was amazing. The intricate plot of them redirecting the herd and the Wolves attack was to me much more interesting than the single gunshot leading the herd to Alexandria like in the comics. The way the plan just kind of fell to shit in Thank You and the battle for Alexandria in No Way Out were two of the best episodes on the show.
What story arcs do you think were better in the show?
