[MAIN SPOILERS] Balerion is even larger than Smaug

This is silly and all, but I thought it was curious.

Peter Jackson's team made Tolkien's Smaug (aka Smaug the Golden, the Last of the Great Dragons) much bigger than the original book version. Here's a drawing by Tolkien himself depicting the dragon:

And here's a approximation of the film version:

Which turned out to be really accurate:

But Balerion... George Martin's Black Dread was even more of a giant flying mass:

Book Smaug: about 25 meters (80 feet) long. Film Smaug about 60 meters (200 feet). And Balerion, judging by books and show... 80 meters (260 feet) long. TV Balerion is smaller than books Balerion, but not too much smaller.

No wonder Aegon conquered kingdom after kingdom. With such a flying beast under his command he could have taken any realm he wanted.

Next step for the authors would be to make the dragons almost the size of Godzilla. It almost feels like a competition to see who's dragon is biggest.
