My prediction for what will happen in S8E9

A lot of this will sound stupid, but this is Gimple we're talking about here. Anyway, here I go:

On their way to the Sanctuary, Ezekiel manages to talk Gavin into releasing him, but before Gavin can do so, Morgan, having not heard Ezekiel and Gavin's conversation, kills Gavin and frees Ezekiel himself.

Aaron and Enid are brought into Oceanside, where the Oceanside women hold a “trial” for Natania’s murder to decide their fate. Enid says that what happened was her fault and that she pulled the trigger, but Aaron volunteers to stay at Oceanside and allow the women to have sex with him (realizing that since there are no men around many of them likely feel depraved) if Enid is released. Since Aaron is gay, (which the Oceanside women don't know) this is treated as a very brave and heroic action on his part, since he is subjecting himself to something that would disgust him to ensure Enid’s safety. Beatrice accepts Aaron’s offer, and as Enid is released, Aaron tells her about baby Gracie and where to find her, giving her the responsibility of taking care of her. Enid promises to do so and then leaves.

Negan announces to his men at the Sanctuary that they will now be coating their weapons with saliva from the mouths of Walkers. He also confronts Dwight and gives him the task of killing Rick with a saliva-coated crossbow bolt. Laura told Negan that Dwight is a traitor, but Negan believes that it is also possible that Laura is the traitor and is framing Dwight because he caught her in the act, which Dwight says was the case. The task that Negan gave Dwight is his way of allowing Dwight to prove his true allegiance- if Dwight kills Rick, Negan will kill Laura, but if Dwight doesn’t kill Rick, Negan will kill Dwight.

Eugene gives himself a bruise on his forehead (by slamming his head against a wall) to trick Negan into believing that Harlan knocked him out before escaping with Father G. This works.

Harlan and Father G go to Hilltop, where Harlan reclaims his office and uses medicine on Father G to do away with what remains of his illness.

Carl is brought back above ground once the coast is clear because Rick doesn’t want him to die in a sewer. They decide to head to Hilltop since Alexandria is no longer safe and Rick doesn’t want the last thing his son sees be a destroyed and ravaged place that once thrived with life. Halfway there, Carl slowly begins to succumb to the infection and it becomes clear that he won’t make it there. Blaming himself for Carl’s state, Siddiq volunteers to put him down. The last thing that Carl tells Rick is to not let his bloodlust and desire for revenge get the better of him.

In a flashback set between S7E16 and S8E1, Carl confronts Rick about how he acted when Negan was about to kill him, and asks his father if, in that moment, he feared for Carl’s life, or if he only cared about killing Negan. Rick says that of course he was afraid of losing Carl, but Carl doesn’t believe him and tells Rick, again, not to let his desire for vengeance get the better of him.

Once they get to Hilltop, Michonne tells Rick about what Daryl did with the truck, and Rick, realizing that this helped the Saviors get out, exiles Daryl. Feeling sympathetic towards Daryl due to seeing her involvement in Sasha’s death as similar to Daryl’s mistake, Rosita goes after Daryl.

The episode ends with Carl’s funeral and another close-up faces montage.
