So, this sub is currently experiencing a civil war. It's split down the middle between those enjoying season 4 and those who wish Erickson was still in charge and miss the old show. I'm admittedly apart of the latter group. I don't hate the new season but I think it's a considerable drop in quality. With that being said, although I don't hate the show entirely, I do hate a few specific things about this season.
I personally think that Morgan, although portrayed by a talented actor, is one of the most terribly written characters I've seen on any show that takes itself seriously. Since his reintroduction into the show 4ish years ago he's only existed at two extremes of either unrealistic passivity in the face of danger or unrealisticly violent to the point of being psychotic. That's all the writers have done with him and I hate it. Even the actor requested upon joining Fear that his character be given a new direction. It's ridiculous. It seems that the new fear showrunners have chosen to continue this terrible terrible writing for some reason, and I almost can't take it.
My question is, does anyone find this constant predictable back and forth captivating? I can't see how anyone in their right mind could enjoy this character. They desperately need to find something new to do with him. I personally can't stand the writing and i'm shocked that professional writers can't do better. His addition to fear has, and will continue to greatly harm the quality of the writing if the writers don't do something new with him.
Does anyone enjoy this writing with Morgan? If so, what do you like about it?
