The Hug scene

One scene that never made sense to me was the scene in the desert in the last season when Walt tells Jesse to go away in another state because Hank is after him.

Jesse breaks down and starts shouting that Walt doesn't care about Jesse and only wants him gone to protect his ass (which is probably true, although Walt does seem to care about Jesse in a strange way), and then Jesse says that if he (Jesse) doesn't comply, Walt will kill him/ have him killed, like he killed Mike, and that's why they're meeting in the desert.

At that point, Walt (as far as the viewer knows) has no intention of having Jesse killed, and even in the next episode when Jesse almost burns down his house, he still only wants to talk to him. He even gets angry at Saul for suggesting putting him down.

So why doesn't he just tell Jesse that he's wrong, and that he doesn't want to kill him, instead of this weird hug that looks like more of an admission of guilt than anything else ?
