Honestly the show is more satisfying if you believe Joey and Phoebe were secretly hooking up or something during the show's run. They're always the most quietly supportive of each other. Joey's the only one who doesn't watch the "Phoebe" porn video out of respect for her (although jumps at the chance to see it when it's her twin sister). He also gives up eating meat for six months, despite it being one of his defining character traits, because pregnant vegetarian Phoebe craved meat constantly to balance it out. Phoebe wants to keep Joey in the group when she plans a friend group away from Ross/Rachel drama. She lent Joey her car, no questions asked, to go to Vegas for an independent film. Joey gives Phoebe the "perfect kiss" to help her with her bucket list. She also immediately says yes when Joey proposes when he believes she's single and pregnant.
Shit's cute yo. The actors themselves proposed this idea but the creators said no. But they did the Joey/Rachel plot line late in the game everyone hated and Ross and Monica were each others' first kisses, so clearly no relationship is too stupid on this show.
Ross and Rachel is just fucking nuts. Dopey nice guy wants to get with his sister's best friend immediately after she ran out on her wedding, being too shy to share his feelings with her but still get insanely jealous when she does things like date, be around men or do her job. And Rachel's equally petty, flying to London to break up his second marriage and made a contract saying he was 100% to blame for their relationship's destruction. And then they had a child together? And don't even get back together until the last 5 minutes of the show?
I know not every show needs every character to hook up but wow Joey and Phoebe are just so much better than them. Would have also solved the "couple friends" problem Monica and Chandler had, along with who their surrogate mom could be when she couldn't have kids.
