Predictions for the finale

Plenty of spoilers ahead. Here are my predictions for the Fear finale this Sunday. It’s been a terrific season, and I think we’re in for an exciting episode.

As you may have heard, Fear is promising to have a big surprise in this season finale. The show runners have promised major changes leading into season 6. I think this is true. We’re in for a seismic shift this season.

Let’s start with something obvious. Something fans have agreed on and clamored for over the past two seasons: there needs to be more of a magical fantasy element to Fear the Walking Dead.

Remember the storyline about the dam in Mexico? The whole time I was watching that, I was thinking about how great it would be if the story crossed over with the most gritty movie of all time; “Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause”. As it turned out, I think that movie was a pioneer of the type of world that Fear wanted to create.

In that theme, my prediction is that Fear S5’s finale will relegate the zombie premise to the background and transition to a much more thrilling story line: Morgan and the gang opening a candy shop…with magical consequences. The name of the show will also change to:

Fear the Walking Dead: Candy Beansies

Morgan and the gang are going to stumble upon a Main Street storefront to house their bakery, with a twist: the store will have extraordinary powers. The gang sets out to create jelly beans to sell to their friends, but instead create a magical jelly beansie which, when eaten, allows them to travel through time and help people at various stages throughout history.

Fear’s story will now follow Morgan and the gang as they all eat a jelly beansie at the beginning of each episode, then travel Magic Schoolbus Style into the past - or the future, where they will not only assist figures in need, but learn something about history - and themselves, too.

Look. At the end of the day, AMC knows what its audience wants. We want to see Fear follow the grittier styles of movies like ‘Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed’ and ‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium’ crossed with zombies and apocalyptic drama. It’s going to be great television.

Thank you Ian and Andrew for a visionary season, and thank you Scott Gimple for realizing what the point of The Walking Dead has been about since the start. I really think Fear the Candy Beansies will be the top-rated show on television.
